Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #104 I think this was the last boba shop on Capitol Hill I hadn't visited, mostly due to the location being down the hill in an area I don't normally go to often. I finally decided to visit over a weekend in December, as always to get an after lunch treat before heading back home. The interior is modern and well lit. While there's enough seating for ten people or so, it doesn't seem like a place that people hang out at for long. Original Milk Tea, 50% Sweet w/ Boba ($6.90) - This milk tea is made with Assam black tea, but the fruity notes don't really hit. Instead, the tea is more earthy and herbal, with a hint of mineral flavor from the brown sugar, and then a slight aftertaste of oat milk. (Note: I love how oat milk is the default and doesn't cost extra. It's great for people with lactose intolerance like me.) The milk tea is quite foamy due to being machine shaken before service, and with the mix of oat milk and tea, becomes thick, giving the drink a lot of body. The boba, unfortunately, is only average. The pearls are soaked for a while in sugar solution, giving a pleasing brown sugar sweetness and soft and bouncy exterior, but the interiors are too firm. Like far too firm, giving a certain grittiness and really impacting the texture. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 3/5 Social Tea serves some decent to good drinks. Alright boba spot with cute decor. Convenient location, decent prices (for the basic drinks, at least), and kind service. Not a ton of seating inside, but there's some space to do work, wind down, or chat. Overall fair prices and good for immediate area! Green Milk Tea w/ Boba - Boba was chewy but could be more flavorful. Cooked well but needs some marination. Tea was present, not too strong but could get floral hints. While I felt the balance between tea and milk was decent, I think the tea was watered down or tea leaves were reused a little much. read more

Boba option near convention center. They offer a slight variation of milk teas with only oat milk instead of non dairy creamers or whole milk. The store is average size for a boba shop with some seating. I tried the honey jasmine milk tea and while the jasmine flavor came through the overall milk tea felt watery and the honey didnt feel like it really sweetened the drink. The boba was chewy but plain as there was no additional sweetener used like brown sugar. read more

First off the space is simple but cute. It's neat and tidy, has big windows for natural lighting, cute things for sale, a decent amount of seating for a small shop, and a small floral backdrop for photos. The Halloween candy set out was a good touch. They also have a variety of macaroons and baked goods for sale. I went with the brown bear milk tea, which had a great flavor, but it was watery. This place has been out of my radar for apparently 9 months(?) as I didn't know this place existed until now. Located conveniently between downtown and Capitol Hill, this is a spot that offers a variety of boba drinks. I went around 2pm since I tried going 2 hrs before closing the day before and they ran out of boba... Most of the drinks can be found anywhere, but the brown bear milk tea is not really the case, so I got that. It has black tea, oat milk, Irish cream, hazelnut, and salted caramel, and I added boba for 50 cents extra. They charge tax and a processing fee on top so it is more expensive than expected. The drink has a very strong hazelnut flavor that dominated everything else. It is fragrant but I'd have loved a bit more complexity and nuance to get the other flavors more easily. The boba is unsweetened so it is very unbalanced - I take a sip of a relatively sweet drink and then find myself chewing on water. The texture was on the softer side. Service is okay. It's a one person operation, but the bathroom had no soap which they remedied, only for them to take out the soap immediately after I used it, so what's the point? read more

First off the shop itself is adorable. The décor is stunning, the kind of aesthetic spot you'd expect to go Insta-viral in LA. I was honestly surprised it doesn't already have more reviews. The vibe is super calming with great music, and I could easily see this being the perfect little date spot. Now for the drinks--we ordered a Jasmine Green Milk Tea and the Midnight Sky (I think that's what it was called). Both were so light and refreshing, and I really appreciated that they weren't overly sweet. It's rare to find boba shops these days that let the tea shine instead of just loading on sugar. My boyfriend thought the boba pearls were slightly overcooked, but I thought they were perfect--so I'd say that comes down to preference. We also tried two macarons, which were the perfect sweet treat to pair with the drinks. The service was another highlight. There was only one staff member (possibly the owner), and she was so kind and patient. She explained the sweetness levels clearly and didn't rush us at all while we took forever to decide on macaron flavors. Even the bathroom was spotless and nicely decorated, just like the rest of the shop. We left happy, satisfied, and already planning to come back. Very tasty! The worker who assisted me was very kind and patient and gave good recommendations when I asked. I tried the brown bear tea and I can see why it's popular - it's really good! The boba was the perfect consistency and the milk tea was perfect at half sweet for me. Lots of their options seem to be dairy free and most have adjustable sweetness. You can choose from 5 different toppings: lychee jelly, tapioca, crystal boba, strawberry jelly, and one other jelly. It's really cute and well decorated as a space. Great for sitting with friends or doing some work or reading for a little break. Highly recommend and will definitely be back! read more

Social Tea is a great new Boba place on Capitol Hill. They have some food (including mochi donuts that looked good), but I just ordered a brown sugar milk tea. The interior is very inviting Service was fast and courteous. The tea was very good, it had nice flavor to it. I asked for 75% sweet which was just perfect for me. Ordered the honey jasmine milk tea and it was quite good. Seemed to be sweetened only with honey so loved that it this flavor was very evident and the jasmine tea was also fragrant and delicious. It sort of tasted like it was made with oat milk but it totally slipped my mind to take a photo of the menu! I'll post one as soon as I can. The menu is pretty small, which is honestly refreshing for me because decision paralysis is so real when it comes to robust tea menus. The interior was standard millennial pink milk tea shop vibes. Loved that the only artwork that contrasted with the other decor was an Obama 2008 campaign poster! There was only one person working while an anime convention was going on very close by. The lady at the counter was doing her best to get everything right and there were a lot of people in the small shop. It was crazy. She was very nice and apologetic the whole time. The shop atmosphere was super cute and made me feel cozy. My feet hurt so bad from standing and waking in terrible shoes for around 5 hours. The chairs were a huge relief. They were cute and had a nice twirl to them. They were out of normal boba so I got crystal boba instead. The tea was good! Not too sweet. Not too bitter. They use oat milk so it doesn't feel too rich. It made me feel much better to have this boba in my hand and rest my feet. read more

Came here with some friends while passing by and what a quaint little spot! It's kinda hidden, but once you enter, you feel the warmth of the place. We ordered some boba drinks and macarons. The boba was good, chewy and soft. We tried an oolong milk tea, brown bear milk tea, and a jasmine milk tea. You can adjust the sweetness, which I appreciated. I got mine at 50%, but I'd recommend 75% for future drinks. If you like your drinks on the sweeter side, go with 100%. We also had a Thai tea macaron, and let me just say, it was a surprise hit. It was very tasty, and though It may seem a bit pricey, but A) it's a macaron, and B) you won't regret it. The shop was decorated for the holidays, with the cutest plushies. It's great that they take the time and effort to make the place inviting. The person behind the counter was also super kind and sweet. She may have been the owner. Overall, while the prices are on the higher side, the quality and atmosphere make it worth it. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely make a trip here to get my boba fix read more
