Came here the other day, and we were pleasantly surprised! The service was great and they were patient with us. They had a lot of tea options, so we had to make sure we're getting the right one. My gf is obsessed with milk tea, and been on the hunt for the phoenix oolong. So far this is the only place she's been able to find in Seattle that sells it. I ordered the Rock milk tea, and it had a strong tea flavor and a good dark aroma. It's exactly the way I like my milk tea! I feel this place to be authentic with their tea leaves, and they seem to be really knowledgeable about their menu. So if you're really specific with your tea flavors, or just want to try something different than your usual black or green tea, then I recommend this. read more

It doesn't seem this place is adequately staffed. The only staff was working his bones off and the line kept growing! Luckily everyone was patient and can clearly see he was working hard, and he did let us know that it might take a while. He was a hard worker. The boba place is very tea forward with a variety of options. There were a handful of drinks that had an interesting name, such as, Iron Buddha, but I wish there was a description of what the drink was. I didn't want to ask too many questions given the growing line. I don't think any of the drinks included toppings, so that's an additional charge. Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #64 I originally visited Young Tea two years ago when I visited Seattle for a wedding. Now that I actually live here, I thought they deserved an update. On my most recent visit, they had just opened their 2nd location in Bellevue. I noticed that they had reduced the size of their menu by quite a bit especially in the milk tea space, losing the Rock Oolong, Red Oolong, Puerh, among other drinks. I asked the bobarista about this, and he said that apparently they are trying to make some drinks exclusive to the Wallingford location, and some to Bellevue. A bit of a disappointment in my opinion. At any rate, I went with the Iron Buddha (aka tieguanyin). Iron Buddha Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($7.70) - They also have an Iron Buddha Plus Milk Tea, which was explained to me as the addition of wintermelon to the base drink. I went with the unadulterated version. The drink has a good tea fragrance and feels high quality. It's very aromatic and feels kind of grassy. Half sweet is similar to 25% at other shops. There isn't too much of a creamy element mixed in, so it blends well with the tea. The boba is unfortunately not nearly as good as the tea, similar to my previous visit. They are essentially small and firm spheres, smooth, and slightly sweetened with what seems to be brown sugar. The have an okay chew and bounce, but it's marred a bit by the firmness. $10 boba is kind of insane, but I must say that my drink was quite good. I marked this spot after seeing that they had genmaicha, as I've never actually seen that on a boba menu before. The flavor of the tea was strong, it was the perfect balance of sweetness, and the red bean really tied it all together nicely. Somewhat of a hidden gem, and a shame I didn't come in earlier. I was very impressed by their selection of tea. This is NOT your average boba shop - it's a high-end modern tea cafe. You can tell their tea leaves are of the highest quality. They have rare and diverse selections, and even (expensive) tea leaves and tea sets for sale. The interior space is just WOW. It's very cozy and elegant. I feel like I'm in Taiwan! The biggest cons are their lack of food/snack availability and no wifi. I will forever love young tea. Loved it when it was in ID, continue to love it in Wallingford (maybe a little more because street parking is easier in Wallingford). The place was pretty empty when I entered, and they originally have a couple self ordering screens but they were out of service at the time. The people working were super kind and patient while I pondered on what to get. I decide on the peach oolong tea with grass jelly. I don't like my drinks that sweet, I usually get 25/30% sugar, but young tea's drinks are very tea forward, so 50% is perfect for me. Still one of my favorites boba shops near Seattle. It was my first time visiting this store, and how I've missed the Rose Green Milk Tea drink since the location in International District closed almost 2 years ago. You can't go wrong with any drinks here, especially if you appreciate authentic and strong tea. Inside is quiet and clean, and has a few high tables to sit around. It was a pleasant surprise to meet the owner Caroline at the FREE tea tasting event on Sundays from 1-4PM. I tried 2 types of Oolong, both were great tea. I used to not like taro at bubble tea places but I am now obsessed when REAL taro is used. On their Instagram they showed the process of making their taro smoothie and they used real taro which is why it's not that being purple color, rather it's white. I thought about it all week and made my way there. This taro smoothie is now probably my favorite drink here and maybe top favorite drink at a bubble tea spot now. Wow so good!! If you're someone like me who doesn't like things too sweet, this is perfect. So happy to have discovered this drink! It's got a creamy and subtly sweet. It has little taro chunks in it. They also have a dispenser to sample their peach oolong tea which is one of my top favorites as well. Get it with the sea salt Crema or on its own and it's delicious. My third recent favorite is the genmaicha latte which has the roasted and nutty green tea flavor. It is much heartier I'm flavor than the tea alone. My family and I were in Seattle last week for a dear friend's wedding and they actually had a number of drinks from Young Tea available at the reception. My husband and I opted for their signature milk tea and the high mountain oolong milk tea. Other places can really water down their signature milk tea, but this had a strong flavor - both the tea and the sweetened condensed milk which blended in quite nicely. This was our first time trying high mountain oolong milk tea and we really enjoyed it. It had a more subtle flavor than the signature, but was still really good. The amount of boba in both drinks was just perfect - not too little, not too much, and a good consistency as well. I recently found out that Young Tea's previous location in Chinatown closed and that a new one popped up. Fortunately their new location is pretty close to where I live so we stopped by after dinner. Unlike their old location, this one is more of a grab-and-go place with no seats and instead just a couple small standing circular tables. There is no private lot but there is street parking in the area. We ordered the rose green milk tea ($6.25) with 50% sweet and boba ($0.75) which is on their top five best sellers. It was floral, herbal, and you can really taste the tea in the drink. I think we both would've preferred a little more sweetness but the boba's sweetness helped with that. Overall it was pretty flavorful. Young Tea was one of my go-to boba shops in Chinatown and I'm glad that they now have a location closer to me. read more

I do the default sweet level here (100%) but at other shops I ask for less sweet (75%). I tried the "lava" flavor this time and I wasn't super impressed, it was too intense for me, but I'm not going to dock points because the description was very accurate: 'more intense than brown sugar boba' but I am docking one star, because the boba was undercooked and I am not a fan of crunchy boba I don't think I have had crunchy boba at Young tea before, so I will come back again sometime! read more

I was able to get a nearby parking spot for me and The Homie to conveniently check out Young Tea in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood along busy N 45th (6/23/22). They are located in between CVS Pharmacy and TNT Taqueria in a former Starbucks site. This is the only bubble tea spot versus the dozens located east of I-5 in the University District/UW Seattle campus. The original Chinatown/International District location will be permanently closing after 6/26/22, so it is advantageous to have this new site up and running. This does not have the vast seating available from its former SBUX iteration, but there are some stand up tables located between the front counter and the merch wall. Menu offers a variety of beverages where they can be customized accordingly. Employees were all observed to be wearing masks, we felt guilty leaving ours in the car, oops our bad! Note: Make sure to enter your phone number before payment/tip is completed on the screen to participate in their electronic punch card system. Both The Homie and I observed upon first sip that our respective teas were a tad overbrewed, but liked the overall flavors. This location has the genmaicha latte ghat I had been wanting to try since they introduced it earlier this year. So glad I did! Hidden gem in town where serves the best quality tea, you can tell from the taste that the tea is fresh brew daily and the natural tea sense in the tea and in the room. Luckily we bump into the owner and she told us about the story why she opened this place. Most of the boba shop are using artificial spices and add lots sugar for a drink with low quality of tea leaf. Then sell it at high price that she doesn't want her children to pay such insane $$ and take in any of this unhealthy drinks. Which I really agree since I am a tea drinker and always looking for natural tea with quality. Wow. Highly recommend if you love boba with a stronger tea flavor. I've had a lot of boba and I think this place has the best tea flavor. We got the jasmine milk tea (50% sugar) and the hojicha milk tea with almond milk and brown sugar jelly (50% sugar). I usually do less sugar but the cashier said their drinks are stronger so they don't usually recommend too much less sugar and she was right. 50% was perfect. Service was quick and friendly. I went to their Chinatown location last year and was eh about the drink I got. But I knew this boba place had a variety of oolong brewdwhich is the tea I absolutely LOVE. I was planning a trip to get sushi (they were forever closed sad) and happened to run into this "new" location randomly, so I had to give it another try! It's located in between CVS and TNT Taqueria on N 45th St in Wallingford. There's only street parking which could get difficult to find especially during lunch/dinner rush hours and the weekends. I got lucky and found a spot right in front! Of course I had to choose one of their oolong brews. This time I went for something not "too" strong: Red Oolong with 50% sweetness. Mm! The oolong was brewed nicely with a strong distinction oolong flavor. Definitely not sweet at all! It was a tad on the watery side which wasn't necessarily a bad thing but would have liked a little more milkiness to it. Would have been a perfect cup of milk tea with that balance! One thing that really bothered me the most was the azuki beans. More of a preference thing, but they weren't as cooked as I liked. Most of the beans were hard, making me work while I drank the drink. I like sipping on my drink VERY SLOWLY (whoops hehe) so all the ice usually melts by the time I'm done with the drink. Because of extensive cold, the azuki beans hardened quite more which isn't my favorite. BUT the drink itself was delicious! If you like milk teas with a more distinctive tea flavor, this place is one of the few places that specializes that! Especially with the oolong brews. My drink on the right is called rose heaven and it had rose petals in it which I thought was interesting. The service was pretty fast but the store was hot and didn't have any ACs. Came here with a recommendation from a friend! I'm so glad that they mentioned this place to me! The exterior of the place is very unseemingly, with just a large sign with the text "Young Tea". Once you get inside, it is full of tea pots and tea related merchandise. The menu is expansive with a ton of options for milk teas and smoothies and even herbal teas! I ordered an egg tart and a rose green milk tea. The egg tart had good flavors and was creamy on the inside. I'm not the biggest fan of the cookie version of the egg tart shell but that's just a personal opinion. The rose green milk tea was florally but still had a strong tea taste, which I personally enjoyed. Aside from tasting good, it looked very aesthetic and very "IG" worthy. Phenomenal flavor at Young Tea, each tea had a depth and complexity that I believe is unparalleled by other boba tea shops in the area. The High Mountain Oolong Milk Tea and Assam Milk Tea retained their distinct floral notes, pronoucing their unique presence in the drink despite their lighter flavor. The Rock Oolong Milk Tea and Pu-erh Black Sugar Milk Tea had deep, earthy tones that when combined with milk and sugar, was reminiscent to me of particularly rich chocolate and light coffee, while being their own complex flavors. They use quality teas that the milk and sugar enrobe, rather than mask, into a more playful flavor to drink on a social outing with friends & family. With the authenticity of the tea, there is a fair amount of caffeine, so I would recommend taking that into consideration. The seating feels like a good level to sit and study with headphones, or have some chitchat before heading out for the rest of your day. I had a pleasant conversation with friends that felt private enough in the noise of the shop. The owner came out to personally ask what we thought of the drinks and I enjoyed talking to her about the philosophy behind her drinks. Asked for 50% sugar with lychee jelly and it tasted like 0% sugar. Normally lychee jelly is soaked in lychee juice or lychee syrup and the sweetness carries over to the drink, but this was not the case. It was not sweet at ALL and has NO lychee flavor. My friend got 80% sugar, and her drink was SO sweet. It's hard to imagine such a DRASTIC different could be true between 30%; one of the orders must've been made wrong. The pearls here though are very chewy. But would NEVER get lychee jelly again (friend shared she had the same opinion of the lychee jelly last time she ordered it). read more
