Their iced drinks are not my favorite but I loove their hot teas and highly recommend them if you enjoy warm comforting drinks. They let you adjust sweetness, add creamer, and such. The flavors are so unique and most of the time they taste pretty accurate. They have specials and change frequently! They get really busy in the evenings, from my experience but afternoons are surprisingly empty, 1-4PM, I'm not sure about mornings or weekends though. It's so relaxing in here. Quiet and smooth music and charming server. Great place to work, solo or bring a date for an intimate setting. The iced lavender earl grey tea is very floral with a heavy lavender aroma. I did not adjust the sweetness and it's not too sweet at all. I think it tastes delicious if you like lavender and earl grey. It's a great light drink after a heavy meal of spicy noodles next door haha. Tea Republik was one of my favorite spots to get a drink and to study at when I was a student at UW. It's one of the cafes that I still think about and missed the most ever since I moved out of Washington. Each time I visit Seattle, I have to stop by Tea Republik! The authentic teas are freshly brewed when you order, and the portion size is just perfect for the price. I'm always greeted by very friendly staff, and they make the drinks super quick. I love their fruit teas! So aromatic and sweet. My all time favorite drink is the Vanilla Monk's Blend Milk Tea. I've never tasted anything quite like it. Such a unique, sweet creamy flavor and I rave about it to my friends all the time. It's a very quiet and chill environment. Lots of seating available inside. The menu is extensive and has both caffeine and caffeine free options. The tea shop is across the street from Urban Outfitters store and right next to the Supreme pizza. Shop is very chill vibes with dim floral lighting and table, bar, and one couch seating. Shop feels intimate and cozy. I have come here to just drink tea and look out the window a few times now and it's a great place to unwind, read, do school work, and just breathe in and out. I truly love the atmosphere here and always feel welcomed and accepted. I have tried the loose leaf Oolong Ti Kwan Yin Iron Goddess Tea hot and the house specials Lavender Cream Earl Grey hot and both were amazing. They offer hot tea, iced tea, black tea, loose leaf, caffeine free, spearmint, peppermint, chai, herbal tisane, and much more. So many options! It's been open for slightly longer than my first Yelp post. I'm now their 400th review. Like a previous published article, this is an OG indie spot befitting "Tea in a Coffee Town". This was well established before the prevalence of bubble tea specialty spots in Seattle's University District and other neighborhoods. Clearly, this has solid staying power. It is a nice spot as an alternative to coffee and has a modest pastry case to supplement your cup or pot of tea. The Homie's personal favorite shared with The Mom is also a Tea Republik best seller specialty blend, Lavender Creme Earl Grey. Ooo I came here this past weekend on a hot day (my third tea drink of the weekend, shh). I wanted a place that was more emphasis on "Tea" than "boba" or "sweet", and my friend directed me here. At first the menu I was skeptical of; the names of the featured drinks felt like they'd be made of syrup. But the back of the menu book was just lists of teas, and I was pleasantly surprised that the tea was freshly brewed and tasted amazing. I don't mind that there was a wait to have it made-- it made me trust the process more. Also, apparently you can get pots of tea here! If I lived in Seattle/near here, I might come here to chat with a friend and sip on some shared tea. (The lighting was a bit dim for doing anything more like board games or reading, but it was a nice place to lounge.) Parking in this area.. kind of sucks. I didn't know because I'd never come to U District, but highly recommend parking elsewhere and taking the Link 1 in. I can't believe I haven't been here earlier! Tea Republik is a long-standing traditional tea shop in University District that serves freshly brewed teas fit for every occasion. With an extensive tea menu that includes both caffeinated and decaffeinated teas, hot and iced, sweetened and unsweetened, there's sure to be something for everybody. It was hot outside today (a rarity in Seattle!), so I ordered an iced drink in a 20oz. I opted for the seasonal special rose tea that has a black tea base. It was floral with a full body, and paired well with the cream and sugar. You can adjust sugar levels as you prefer, or opt for no sugar. The cream is already non-dairy, but if you prefer, you can also get soy instead for an additional charge. Each drink came in a cute glass and a paper straw. We sat there for two hours and drank it slowly, and the straw never disintegrated. If you feel overwhelmed by the large menu, you can always ask the staff for recommendations. They are very friendly and helpful, knowledgeable in flavor profiles and pairings. It is also a superb studying spot for students. Quiet and ample tables and seating, as well as wifi and outlets to use. The restroom is clean and there is free water dispensers as well. We enjoyed our peaceful morning chat here. read more

Tea Republik is my go-to spot to catch up with friends as 1. they genuinely have the best collection of high quality teas in the city and 2. vibes are fantastic. First, for the teas, every drink I've ever had has been fantastic. They're always freshly brewed and you can order teas iced or by the pot. If you order for in-store, they do charge extra for an additional cup to share the drink. Be warned: the drinks definitely aren't cheap - a pot of tea will drop you ~8 bucks, but their selection and quality is genuinely unbeatable. If you're completely lost, I've really enjoyed their base milk tea as well as their Pear la france if you want something with a fruitier twist. Ambiance wise, there are a ton of students doing work in low lighting, but the store isn't so quiet that you would feel uncomfortable having a conversation. You order at the register before seating yourself and I've never had problems grabbing a table even on a weekend afternoon. I come here regularly for medical appointments and also with friends for lunch, and I have tried every tea place in the neighborhood without exaggeration. This is my favorite spot hands down. The selection is fantastic! I also love the customization. The staff are super helpful with making choices about customizing and recommendations. It's also a super cute spot to sit and read or work, and to gather and chat with friends. I highly recommend it! As another note for the service, there was a homeless individual who came in and sprawled across their couch, made a mess, and became very loud and disruptive. The staff handled it with compassion and professionalism. My friend recommended this place after we finished a study session at the library! I love how it's open until 10, it makes it a solid place to study late or have cozy conversations with friends. The tea house has a really warm feel with the floral lamps and paper lanterns hanging down. We shared one of the house specials, the Thai tea with milk and vanilla ($8.50). It was hard to choose a drink since the menu was so extensive! It's a decent amount to share as we both had 2-3 cups each! I really loved the taste of the tea, I don't normally drink hot tea with milk but it's so nice and comforting. We ended up staying until they closed, and there was a good amount of people that also stayed until the end! A worker came and gave us a 10 minute warning but wasn't rushing us out at all. I think this is such a good spot for tea lovers or those that want a chill place to talk or read. But I would also say it's not a place meant for big groups, the tables are small and made for two people! read more

A friend at work told me about this place awhile ago sId they have the best chai. I like mine on the spicy side not sweet and the person was very helpful guiding me to make the right decision for my taste which was the Kama Sutra. They were very good at explaining when they brought to the table that the longer it steeps the spicer/stronger it would be. It was empty when I first walked in at 11am but filled quickly on yesterday. I got the smaller pot which was more than enough for one person. Space is cute with pretty lanterns as lighting. Tea Republik is an intimate and cozy space on the Ave where you can enjoy excellent tea alongside a small selection of pastries. Comfy wooden chairs and tables, a couch, soothingly dim lighting and a nice bathroom make this a wonderful haven for students and non-students alike to chat and study. They have a huge menu of high quality teas ranging from loose white to fruit teas, rooibos, and 6 unique chai lattes. The Moroccan Mint is the best tea I've ever had: creamy with just enough sweetness to balance out the fragrant mintiness. You can request extra honey to flavor it to your liking. It's so delicious that it's made even a non-tea drinker like me return again and again! They also have good Lapsang Souchong. I found the Iced Lavender Crème Earl Grey and Apple Black Tea alright and want to try many more teas on their menu (if I can resist the Moroccan Mint!). One last wonderful thing to note is that they are open late: till 10pm on Sunday, 11pm Monday through Thursday, and midnight Friday and Saturday. read more

I decided to buy some loose leaf tea here as an early Xmas gift for one of my friends and to support one of my favorite local businesses on The Ave. I stopped by last Saturday evening and there were people sipping tea and studying inside since Inslee's latest restaurant restrictions on indoor dining had not been put in effect yet. The manager was friendly as always and was wearing a mask. Each oz of loose leaf tea cost $8 and makes about 5 cups of tea; I ordered 2oz of the Green Pear Tea since that's my friend's favorite. I asked the manager how to prepare their French Green Pear Tea House Special, and he said to just add some cream or milk and honey, sugar, or vanilla syrup (like Torani's). I wish he told me the ratios they use, but oh well. He was quick and he even labeled the type of tea, weight of tea, and steep time on the paper bag. Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying loose leaf tea to make at home even if you can't enjoy it inside the cafe right now. They have a HUGE SELECTION for every taste and make great gifts! read more

The experience here is always amazing, but was lifted to a new high when we worked with them recently to create tea favors for our wedding! We went in with an idea of some of our favorite teas, but were on the fence with which to pick. Our server was extremely gracious to let us sample a good number of jasmine and hibiscus teas that helped us narrow down our selection, and he also made recommendations for us on what would fit the flavor profiles we were looking for! They also offer a 10% bulk discount when you buy over $50 worth of tea. We took the loose leaf tea and bottled it along with making some DIY labels!
