Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #78 After only half a year in Seattle, I'm already running out of boba shops to visit in U District! Ding Tea is one of the few left on my list, saved towards the end because I've visited many Ding Tea locations already. As expected of this brand, this location also has some unique drinks that I wanted to try. In particular, the menu states they have Jin Xuan tea on the weekends, but for some reason they didn't have it when we visited. Oh well, back to the classic drink then, ordered on the kiosk: Signature Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Golden Boba ($7.15) - This drink took a surprisingly long time to come out, like the worker was a bit confused on what to do. What I received was a drink that tastes totally different to the signature milk tea of any other Ding Tea I've visited. It has much less creamer added, which allows much more of the somewhat grass jellyish hongcha flavor to come out. The drink at half sweet seems to be less sweet than other Ding Teas at half - good for not-too-sweet. And yet the drink tastes like it's been watered down. It's not just that the watery body, but the taste as well. The boba is clearly sweetened, and while on the softer side, has a good chew and bounce, and is nicely smooth on the exterior. The boba is much better than the tea. Milk Tea Rating: 2/5 Boba Rating: 4/5 I'm not entirely sure what went wrong with the tea here - the signature is usually pretty solidly constructed. It might be a one time issue? At any rate, I'm not sure I would return to this particular location. There are way better and more consistent boba shops just down the street. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I got the viral Dubai chocolate, so so excited! And the owner said it's best eating it after 45 minutes, but said we can eat it in 10 minutes too haha he was so friendly!!!!

Boba: 6/10 Service: Good Ambiance: 4/10 I've been coming here for years, but it's not as good as it used to be. You order through a kiosk so there's not a lot of service interaction. The space is industrial and not the most inviting. More of a grab-and-go spot than a place to hang out. The boba was fine, and I liked the bouncy texture of the golden tapioca pearls. However, there was an unexpected grittiness in my drink, possibly from the cheese foam, though I've never had that issue before. It's still a decent option if I'm in the area, but there are better boba spots nearby!

Very ok! Default size is small, taro flavor in milk tea was super subtle (they use a powder) and bordered on cereal milk, cream foam was good but they don't have sipping lids. I've only had this one flavor so don't want to knock it too much, this drink was more like a 2 star. But maybe other flavors are better idk!

I think Ding Tea is best known for serving golden boba pearls (4:( stars), mine tasted good as did the honey milk tea (4/5 stars). Every time I've been in the shop as been pretty quiet,

You order at the kiosk or talk to a server. They also do point system so rack them Points for free drink! The drinks were good. Service were fast and ambience is Super chill.

One of my favorite boba spots, I really enjoy any of their fruit green teas, my favourite one is definitely the Mango Green Tea. It's full of deliciousness, fresh, and not super sweet. I'm not a big sweetener person, and they really did well on this drink. The service is quick, simple, and the environment was friendly!

I didn't like Ding Tea when I was first exploring spots at UW, but it's grown on me. I think the biggest thing was understanding their ice levels being different than other spots. Less ice here means 75% so you still get a cup full of ice. However, you get the added option of "slight" ice which is 25%. That's pretty neat, but you need to understand the system or you'll get a drink that waters down quicker than you expect if you order light ice at every boba spot. However, no ice costs you an extra quarter, so that's a bummer. Everyone raves about the golden boba here and it's not offered at every Ding Tea location (looking at you, Lynnwood). Golden boba has increased chewiness compared to regular boba so it's definitely more engaging to chew and the nice thing is that they make pretty good boba here. Ding Tea also uses a fair amount of tea that you can generally taste. It's one of the best spots if you prefer tea flavors over creaminess or milk but it's still a great spot if you prefer more balance or milkiness. My usual go-to is a classic jasmine green milk tea with boba. I don't care for it much here. It's good, but I prefer other spots if I'm sticking with that order. Taro Milk Tea - standard, not too powdery and overall refreshing. Would recommend when you're unsure of what to get. It's a very creamy, nutty, and almost vanilla-like taste. Strawberry Yakult/Yogurt - not the thickest consistency, but you can taste the Yakult. Slightly sweet and fruity, the Yakult blends well with any of the fruit choices for yogurt drinks. It even tastes healthy. Overall, the biggest selling point (and most common thing my friends note) is the golden boba. It's a different texture and chew than regular honey boba or brown sugar boba. The tea is pretty fair and standard, but the boba is what sets Ding Seattle apart, especially with the maintained prices.

Lychee Yakult ($6.45). Taro Milk Tea ($5.45).

Should have picked a better bubble tea spot out of all the choices in U District. Entered on the whim to satisfy a boba craving, and while the pearls were chewy, the Taro Milk Tea ($5.45) itself was very watery and full of artificial flavoring. The Lychee Yakult ($6.45) was better but also lacking compared to others bubble tea shops. Orders are placed at the kiosk. The interior is a narrow hallway but has seating. Wi-Fi is available.

We had a late lunch early dinner craving milk tea. We love ding tea- Cali transplants, we have it here at home and whenever we are in Cali visiting family. But my review is for the sweetness I was met with today but also the yummy milk tea made well, we don't like it too sweet we asked for less made amazingly! I was waiting for my husband to pick up he got stuck behind a very long light as he circled several times looking for parking. Unfortunately after a few unseemly remarks a homeless man made at me he just thought he why not I'll just grabbed one of the drinks from her. I went back to order another. But they made it on the house. I insisted on paying but they made it anyways. Warm-hearted people makes your day it pays forward to loving kindness. Thanks guys! It was very sweet.

Food & drink: (3/5) I've been a loyal lover of the milk cream strawberry since my very first visit, but for some reason it just isn't as good as I remember it being. I would say it's just fine now that I've noticed that they've gotten more watered down. I do enjoy that they still use fresh fruit, but would probably only come back if I was invited by a friend. My partner still really likes his usual which is the mango pomelo sago. I think it's one of their best sellers and is a pretty safe order if you don't know what to get. If I had to identify a weakness, it would be that a lot of times it seems like they have supply chain issues. They did not have lactose-free milk when I visited the past few times. My only critique is that they should add a 30% sweetness option to their sugar adjustments. Otherwise, it was perfect! My new boba spot for sure!

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #107…read more I've visited the BobaLust in Lynnwood before and was not impressed. I decided to give them another try, this time at the U District location. Bobalust opens up pretty late for a boba shop - most places start at noon or earlier, but for some reason BobaLust opens at 1PM. This particular location is depressingly dark inside with black painted walls and dark decor. That's a really interesting aesthetic choice (and not my favorite). OG Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Honey Boba ($6.50) - This tea has a strange harsh artificial taste. It's cloyingly sweet and tastes of a very overwhelming kind of flowery and fruity flavor. It doesn't seem to be from the tea and instead may be from either creamer or sweetener. It's overpowering, making the drink very difficult to sip on for my tastes. On top of this strange flavor is a heavy non dairy creamer aroma. It's added in such high quantities that the drink is thickened to almost a cream-like consistency, and has a slight bit of grittiness on the tongue. Even at 50% ice, there's a ton of ice in this drink. After drinking a bit, I went home and added in around 6 ounces of English Breakfast tea and it tempered things down enough to be pleasant. The boba isn't great either. They claim it's honey boba but while the pearls are very heavily sweetened in marinade, I can't detect any honey aroma whatsoever. The texture of the pearls are firm and almost gummy rather than being soft, chewy, and bouncy. Milk Tea Rating: 2/5 Boba Rating: 2/5 I'm still not impressed with this chain. There are way better options in the area for basic milk tea and boba. BobaLust remains in my bottom five boba shops in the Greater Seattle Area out of approximately 100 shops.
