They have something called golden boba, which is apparently chewier and a little sweeter because it is made with brown sugar as opposed to regular black boba made from tapioca and soaked in a sugar syrup. Staff is super friendly in explaining anything or answering any questions. Drinks come out quickly and there is plenty of space to hang with people or pull put the books or laptop to take care of some business. My favorite boba place thus far! ATMOSPHERE This location is pretty small, but despite this, they have a good amount of seating available. I would advise bringing in a group of 5+ people. It might be hard for you guys to all sit together especially during their busier hours. During the day, it's not as busy so maybe you guys can all sit together. During the night, it can get loud and cramped real fast. I typically just get my drink to-go. WHAT DID I TRY? Their winter melon green milk tea is by far my favorite! I typically get it with their golden boba, less ice, and 100% sweetness. Their boba is cooked so that it's that soft and chewy texture we all want. It's not soggy and it's not hard. The drink itself is full of flavor. Sometimes boba drinks with two flavors, there's always one that overshadows the other, but not with this drink. You can taste both the winter melon and the green tea. I also really like their peach yakult with 100% sweetness, less ice, and golden boba. It tastes like peach calpico! I tried their lychee one too, but it didn't hit the same as the peach one. I found the lychee flavor to be too strong for me. My first ever drink here was their taro milk tea. I really like ShareTea's fresh taro milk tea so I was kinda expecting that flavor, but it tasted watered down and powdery. I was so sad. Their hokkaido oolong milk tea is alright. They said it tastes like toffee, and I see what they meant. I thought I liked toffee, but I guess not, because I did not like this drink. All of there fruit tea are made of artificial flavored syrups, and their milk teas are made of non dairy creamer which contains tons of trans fat. No. There's better milk tea in the world than the one you can find at Ding Tea. THE TEA: I ordered the Signature Milk Tea and it's a watered down, milky mess. I couldn't even tell what type of tea they made the drink from because I couldn't detect it at all. Good milk tea should be able to be both creamy, sweet, and still maintain the depth of the tea it's made with. THE BOBA: The texture is fine. I'm unsure what the "Golden boba" is all about because it tasted very similarly to normal boba you get at other places. OTHER CONS: An extra $0.25 surcharge if you order your drink with "No Ice". Whenever I come here, I usually get the "Monster Bobo Latte" (That's not a typo either, it's really 'Bobo'). I think other places call it a "Tiger Boba Latte". But seriously, this particular drink is like crack. It's so addictingly delicious! Just be careful if you try to modify the drink - they use a certain ratio for the recipe, so if you ask for less ice, the drink will also appear less as well. There was no wait when I came in at 12:30pm. Boba was also made and ready to serve. I've been to boba places that didn't have boba ready by the time they opened. Workers were super nice in greeting, answering questions and giving you the drink. I ordered 2 drinks: milk tea at 50% sweetness (for a friend so I cant review taste) and a coffee milk tea. TLDR: get the lowest ice level for the most bang for your buck. Don't get 100% sweetness. Menu has pretty self explanatory drink titles and is located to the right of the register. Pick a drink and add whatever toppings your heart desires. What I like about this place is that you can customize your ice and sweetness levels. I recommend 75% sweetness or lower. Get the lowest ice level so you get more bang for your buck, otherwise you are just paying for a cup of ice. Service: order and pay at the front. Wait for your order to be called; grab and go or seat yourself. Crystal Boba: it's definitely a novel item. It is very lightly sweetened and in my honest opinion it's a great thing to try one time just for the experience. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to order this when put up against regular Boba. It's slightly crunchy? I'm not really sure how to explain the texture--it's not chewy like normal Boba, instead it's like a hard and brittle jello? They've added games for customers to play while they wait or just to simply hang out with friends. They make it a sweeter than other places, which I love. I almost always find myself gravitating toward that and Oolong Milk Tea. Both are really great with Sea Cream! Flavored Teas: All of the flavored teas are great! Haven't had any that I didn't like. You really can't go wrong with these ones. I find that the crystal bobas go well with most of these. I recommend Top Fruit Tea and Kumquat Lemon Ice Tea. The Top Fruit runs rather sweet, even for me, so I recommend reducing sugar. If you like sour, you can reduce the sugar on the kumquat lemon! A nice non caffeinated option is the Wintermelon Tea-- goes great with boba! Lattes: Though a bit pricier than the Milk Teas, definitely worth trying. Uses real milk, and always looks really pretty bc it's two colors. Jasmine Green Tea Latte and Matcha Latte are both really flavorful! I recommend reducing sweetness on the Matcha and adding their sea cream. Yakult: Also a good non caffeinated option! They have a lot of fruity flavors. Like the flavored teas, you really can't go wrong with these. Strawberry Yakult is very very sweet, for sure reduce sugar. I don't go for these often, but Green Tea and Peach are pretty yummy! I came here opening week and ordered the large green latte with Crystal boba. In terms of the tea it's super strong and fresh. The difference between a green milk tea and green tea latte is that the latte uses real milk vs. powdered milk so there is a significant taste difference. I didn't really enjoy the crystal boba - it has a very rough texture and makes it hard to chew and enjoy the milk tea at the same time. You're better off going with Golden Boba. Ding Tea Seattle just opened yesterday and is having promotions for the week. My go-to drink to judge a place is either regular black milk tea or oolong milk tea. I got the latter with regular boba (they also have crystal boba which is a nice addition that other places don't have. Bambu has it though). The oolong milk tea was good. Consistency is similar to Sharetea's but Ding Tea's tea is actually stronger which I liked. I got less ice and 25% sweet. The drinks run pretty sweet. Even the 25% was a bit too sweet for me. Their "less ice" was actually a third of the cup. My boyfriend got regular ice level and it was like half the cup. The boba was on the firm/hard side, but I prefer it to be soft and chewy. It is sweetened with honey I think, so that's a plus. I also asked what the fruit flavors are made of (powder, syrup, or real fruit), and they said syrup which is kind of disappointing. Overall, it's a decent place comparable to Cha Time, but I don't see myself coming here frequently. read more
