Appetizers and banh mi menu (5/26/25)

My boyfriend and I are were looking for some lunch specials in Renton and mu boyfriend chose Fortune Noodle House out of the options that I had for him. We arrived here and there was only one other table occupied. We were greeted by the cashier/hostess/waitress who let us pick our table and dropped off some menus. I noticed the lunch special menu wasn't included and had to ask the waitress if they were doing a lunch. She brings over the lunch menu and tells me that they only have combo 2 and combo 3 so I went with my combo three while my boyfriend got the Single Dinner combo 2. Our entrees come with a soup which I thought would be a simple soup but we were provided what taste like a Vietnamese soup that came with some noodles, meat, and vegetables. It was delicious and not too spicy that even my boyfriend enjoyed his portion. The food came after several minutes and it was just okay. The sweet and sour chicken tasted off, the meat just felt really off. The phad thai for me was not really flavorful and it was really clumpy which I'm not a fan of. The crab rangoon was delicious though. My boyfriend's beef lumpia was pretty tasty and he said the Mongolian beef was tasty but agreed with me about the sweet and sour. The portions are pretty big for a lunch special but it just wasn't good. The waitress never checked on us after dropping off our food which was unfortunate as we needed water. The inside was nothing memorable either, they barely have any decorations or any attempt to give the restaurant an identity. They had a large flat screen TV playing views of different tropical islands but there was no music. After we got our food, the waitress turned on a very loud fan and I wasn't sure what that was all about. Overall, don't think we'll be back as the only thing really good was the soup and appetizers which should not be the case for a restaurant.

We ordered delivery here because I was feeling under the weather and craving soup, and prices are decent here. We ordered the Tom Yum Talay, Shrimp Salad Rolls, Fried Egg Rolls with chicken, and Thai Honey Chicken Breast. We enjoyed everything, everything was tasty. The Tom Yum could have been more sour, or maybe not enough tamarind. And I ordered that 5 stars, and my bf ordered the Thai Honey Chicken Breast, and neither one was spicy or had a bit of spiciness at all.

My go to spot for pad Thai & yellow curry! Every time I come here, whatever I order is delicious! Pad Thai, yellow curry, pho, crab Rangoon, ban Bo hue, banh mi, the list goes on. Never disappointed. I wish I had more photos to share!

This place has been in my neighborhood for quite some time. I was starving for Pho and didn't wanna drive a few more miles so I decided to try it. I was not disappointed. It is a smaller location probably only has about nine tables. But the menu is packed full of a lot of different things ranging from Vietnamese Thai and other others. I of course, ordered the beef and some shrimp spring rolls. The shrimp spring rolls definitely were handmade fresh. And even though they didn't have all of the other extra ingredients like cilantro or cucumber, they were delicious. The fuck came just shortly after piping hot. I did enjoy the quality of the meat. It was not fatty and very lean and the noodles were nice and chewy. The broth was very good. It made me actually think why I didn't come here sooner to try out this place that's just up the street. If you decide to come here and eat, you won't be disappointed. It's a small family run business as the husband and wife were in the corner enjoying some lunch as well while they were serving their customers.

I came here for convenience being that it was so close to the UPS store and it was too late to cook. I haven't been here in years and had forgotten what it was like inside. I thought initially it was sort of like a Panda Express where you point to what you wanted and they scoop it up but it wasn't. Theres a menu posted right when you walk in. I ordered pho and banh mi. The menu has a hodgepodge of Asian food. It took a while for the food to arrive - as in..ordered at 630 and didn't get it till 645. Ordered to-go. It wasn't busy either. It seemed like the older lady had to get help from the possible owner of how to order. The banh mi was okay. It wasn't really authentic and lacked the pate in the mayo mixture. Also, the cucumber was sliced strangely and it was warm and soggy. I think they should have sliced it into wedges instead of half moons. The pho was ok but also not super authentic. The place looked clean and there's a big TV at the place. Would I come back..um..don't know.

I have NO PROBLEM with this.

Food: Excellent. Thus, Fortune Noodle House is GREAT for takeout. Dine-in leaves a bunch to be desired. Pho doesn't come with chopsticks. Eating pho with a fork felt downright weird. No one comes to check on you or refill your water - even when there are no other customers. When you are eating something spicy, like their Bún bò Huế, this can be a problem. Ordered brown rice, but got white rice [fixed though], and ordered one hot tea but got two [OK, I guess]. Bottom line: while the people running the place were certainly nice enough, accuracy in service is not a priority at Fortune Noodle House. We had the Broccoli with Chicken and the aforementioned Bún bò Huế, which were both EXCELLENT!

They have good pho! I like to try out pho places all the time and this one hits like home.

What they show as the actual quantity.

Absolutely disgusted. The sauce was not even a sauce. It was straight up peanut butter thrown in a cup. No additional flavors or anything. It was disgusting and unacceptable. Not worth it. Plus they tried to be slick and give 4 rolls total, instead of 4 each as shown. Which should've been a total of 8. The sauce was literally inedible. They thought they could get away with just throwing peanut butter in a cup.

Probably one of the best pho places I've been too, and definitely the best pho place in Renton! This place is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant and has that small restaurant vibe. Unlike most establishments, Fortune Noodle House is quick-service concept - meaning you order and pay first, then sit down. I ordered a small steak and meatball pho and it came out pretty quick. The pho was so good. The meat was tender and flavorful. The broth was super flavorful as well, to the point where I wouldn't need that much hoisin sauce/sriracha. The service is below average. We weren't checked up on at all and didn't get any refills on our water. Overall, I'd come here again.

The staff was both kind and attentive, and we didn't feel rushed at all like we did last time. I consider this to be one of the better Cantonese restaurants on the Eastside although prices are on the higher end for average size portions. Our table of 10 was able to polish off nine dishes with no leftovers which is not super common for us. When we go to other restaurants, there's usually at least something left to take home, but here, all our plates were completely clean. + SAUTÉED FISH FILLET ($19.95): Lightly fried pieces of fish were coated in a subtle soy-based sauce with snap peas, celery and mushrooms. The fish was delicate and addicting; every time it approached me on the turntable, I scooped a piece onto my plate! + ENOKI MUSHROOM w/ SILKY TOFU ($19.95): The tofu had such a smooth custard-like texture with a firm lightly fried exterior. If you're seeking a vegetarian option, I recommend this! + HOUSE SPECIAL CHOW MEIN ($16.95): So good! The noodles had a delicious wok flavor and weren't too oily. It included slices of BBQ pork, small shrimp that had a perfect snap and tender calamari strips. Onion and cabbage added some crunch. + DRY BEEF CHOW FUN ($16.95): They use the dried flat rice noodles rather than the fresh ones, so this was just okay. (I think the last time we came, they used the fresh noodles.) The noodles were not as soft as I'd like, but the flavor aligned with your average chow fun and the pieces of beef were quite tender. + PEA VINES w/ GARLIC SAUCE ($19.95): The pea vines tasted fresh with crunchy stems and tender leaves. This is a good straightforward veggie dish. + SZECHUAN CHICKEN ($16.95): This is labeled as "spicy" on the menu, but the heat level is mild at most. I'd say it was more of a sweet and sour sauce which wasn't bad, but just different than anticipated. The chicken pieces were pretty small and some were mostly crust, so I would probably skip this next time. We had three other dishes as well, but these are the ones I wanted to spotlight. After we ordered, our food started arriving shortly after and the staff walked around on a regular basis to refill waters. Mai Place is pretty easy to miss when driving around the area, so definitely make a point to seek it out the next time you're craving authentic Chinese cuisine.

But they lose 3 stars from me because they use some kind of industrial strength cleaning chemical to wipe down the tables. Hard to enjoy your meal when all you can smell is the same chemical they use to mop the floors at QFC and in my apartment building. Seriously terrible chemical smell while you eat. If they are using a spray bottle to clean at the next table, you'll get a cloud of harsh cleaning chemical up your nostrils while you eat. I've had to rinse off and wiped down my own table with a napkin dampened with tea or water in order to enjoy my meal. When I mentioned this to staff, they were dismissive and haven't changed a thing in over a year when I first brought it to their attention. They should only be using something like quat sanitizer, that doesn't smell, to clean the tables. NOT something that is used for floors or bathrooms. and on a side note: if you decide to mop underneath another table while people are dining next to it, please say "excuse me" or just wait. Instead of almost hitting people in the head with a mop handle without saying a word. Also not great for a dining experience. I have worked in restaurants and F&B management. I know something about these things. You shouldn't use anything on a table for diners that you wouldn't use on a food preparation surface. How many times has a dumpling got away from you and bounced around on the table and you snag it and consume it, because you assume the table isn't being cleaned with floor cleaner? If you agree with me, please say something to the staff, and maybe they'll eventually listen. This is a real shame. The food quality is quite good. Probably best dim sum in South King County. I might just do take-out from now on. There are other high quality Chinese and Asian dining options, that's the bright side of living in this area. But if I'm doing takeout, I might as well just go to Dim Sum House on Beacon Hill (much more reasonable prices and good quality).

I needed to be in Renton along 4th Ave and since I don't get to eat good Pho much anymore, I saw that Happy Autumn was along the route I'd be driving. My first impression. The food handling rating is EXCELLENT and the restaurant looked clean. The staff was delightful, professional, full of smiles, and had my order ready for pick-up right on time. I got the grilled chicken Pho to go, which is risky because 'to-go' meals can be skimped on since people don't tend to complain on meals to go from their house. I was NOT disappointed. The broth was fragrant, flavorful and by the time I got home 45 minutes later, still hot. I put it all together and enjoyed some of the best Pho I've ever eaten locally. HIGHLY recommend.
