From top - That pea snack, Dhokla and Papad
Kumar V.

Rajdhani is known for vegetarian and Western Indian food - so expect Gujrati and Rajasthani cuisines. When you are going for unlimited Thali or Buffet, you have to expect items would be hit or miss. This is my 3rd time visiting the restaurant and they always make adjustments to their menu based on festivals and seasons. But they always have a few items on their menu. You will always find Gujrati curry, Dal Bhatti Churma, butter milk, khichdi, Dhokla, Aamras, Poori and Roti. Among these Gujrati curry, Dhokla, Aamras and butter milk are always excellent. This time they had a Diwali menu. Not very sure what was different but they definitely had more desserts. They are serving Balushahi and Mal Pua currently. Mal Pua is excellent while Balushahi was a little underwhelming. They also had a pea filled snack, almost like a Kachori (forgot the name) which I really loved ! Their service is quick and fast but can get slow at times when the restaurant is crowded. Otherwise they are very friendly - and if you liked something ask more of it, they will get it for you. Ambience is good - will give you Rajasthani vibes. But I have been to Rajdhani in India and they tend to be more elegant. However I am not sure if they are the same franchise.

I have been to Rajdhani Thali several times for their traditional thali experience and in my opinion it is a decent pick if you want to relish some traditional Indian (Rajasthani and Gujrati) food. 1. The overall quality of the food is above average but pretty expensive for the quality of the food they offer 2. Service is fast and efficient and the restaurant has a typical Indian vibe, it can be noisy at times 3. It is advisable to make reservations in advance 4. They keep changing their Thali menu before every weekend and usually publish it on their facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/rajdhaniseattle?mibextid=LQQJ4d

This place is unique for sure! There's not a lot of unlimited thali places in the east side (thaal is the only other one but at 45 bucks for an unlimited thali, its steep). Note that this isn't affiliated with any of the Rajdhanis in india or anywhere else. The menu changes every weekend so you have to check out the Facebook page for the current menu. With tax, it ends up coming to just over $30 per person. My favorite was the aloo tiki chat and the lassi -- the paneer curry seemed very oily and my guess is that's their strat to get people full and cut costs. The service is ok but the employees do not speak a great deal of English. You'll sorta have to point at the dishes you want refilled. We went at 6pm and there wasn't a crowd (only 3 other tables occupied) so service wasn't as bad as some of the other revives mention. We never got water refilled. Overall the service is passable but I can see how it can be a bad experience when the restaurant is crowded. This is a great place to go if you want rajisthani style food thali style -- make sure to checkout the Facebook page to see what you're getting yourself into.

Love love love this place. The food is always tasty, the service is always friendly and the atmosphere is great. The only problem is... that it kills my diet... I just can't stop eating!

I have been visiting this place from couple of years to taste their thali. They keep changing few items in the thali every weekend. Had been there on last day of 2023. The special thaali had peas soup which was amazing. Most items were their regular ones. They had 3 types of sweets one of which was Rasmalai and it was hard. All other items were pretty good. The service was quick. It's an unlimited thaali and we can ask for refills if we like any item and they served us pretty quick. Every thaali is around $28.

Food was great! Love the concept! It is a vegetarian only restaurant. It is a buffet style except the servers serve you at the table. Very traditional, highly suggest!

We had thali on a weekday. It is unlimited, unlike other thaali places like thaal. It was absolutely delicious and didn't disappoint us! If you go there with minimal expectations it won't disappoint you! The service was pretty good and friendly. This is a vegetarian restaurant and can be offered vegan options upon request. We went around 6:30pm in the evening so it was not really busy but filled up pretty quickly. The platter was filling and thoughtfully served. Overall its a good experience and worth a try.

Rajdhani Thali - Daal Baati Churma Gujarati Khichdi

Great place for Unlimited veg Thali in the East side. We visited them on a weekend evening and it was a great experience. The staff's attentiveness and knowledge about the menu were commendable. They were more than willing to explain the dishes. Service was prompt, and my Chaach (Yogurt drink) glass never once went empty. The array of dishes presented on stainless steel platter was a sight that took me back to India - It was a medley of colors and aromas and offered diverse selection of dishes from different part of the India. The selection of dishes they serve in Thali keep changing but this is what they served us Daal Baati Churma: This Rajasthani classic ( daal served with Dough balls (baati) with sweet churma )was okay. I wasn't impressed. Gujarati Kadhi: The kadhi was sour, with the right level of sweeteness Ghiya Chana Sabji: The ghiya chana sabji, made from bottle gourd and chickpeas, was a delightful surprise. It was really great. Paneer Sabji - Great north indian style cottage cheese dish Roti and Poori: The bread options were outstanding. The roti was soft and homemade style, while the poori was crispy and delightful. Aloo Chana: The blend of potatoes and chickpeas was a satisfying addition to the thali. For dessert they had Aam Ras and Kheer. The Aam Ras (Mango drink) was a delight with its sweet and refreshing mango flavor. The Kheer (Rice pudding) was creamy and comforting,. A great destination for veg Thali. I can't wait to return for another culinary adventure.

All You Can Eat Thali (Weekday Dinner)
Kimmy L.

My Indian friend from Mumbai hyped me up for Radjahani when I told him I enjoyed Thali- a meal consisting of a selection of Indian dishes served on a large platter- at Chili's in U-District. Unlike Chili's and other Indian restaurants I've been to, this place serves only Northern Indian Thali and is an unlimited buffet. It is also 100% vegetarian and costs only about $22 (plus tax and tip) for weekday all you can eat dinner. As a disclaimer, I'm not Indian and so I apologize in advance that I don't know the names of many of the traditional foods served. According to my Indian friend, Rajdahani is a Northern Indian chain restaurant founded in the Mumbai area. The original has a long table where local workers would quickly come to eat. This long table was analogous to the Indian trains called Radjahani, hence the name of the restaurant. We were quickly seated upon arrival at a booth with large silver platters and cups in front of us. The waiter came over to fill our cups, one with water and one with buttermilk. He then came back with various breads including chipati and a fried bread similar to Navajo bread. He also brought a small slice of spiced cake with coriander and Khumen (I thought my friend meant cumin, but apparently it's a different Indian spice). The cake was fluffy and savory. The waiter also served us a cabbage and tomato salad and filled up the metal bowls on the platter with various curries including a spicy sour one, a creamy buttermilk with paneer, and a yellow lentil curry called Dal Fry served on top of some pieces of glutinous brown bread. Out of the bunch, I enjoyed the dal fry and spicy sour curry. The paneer was a little too rich for my preference and the glutinous brown bread was too dense for my taste. My friend reminded me to eat fast, because soon enough, the waiter came back with a refill of bread and lentils and then with white rice and a porridge made from lentils and rice. He also brought a dessert called Halva made from coconut, raisins, sugar, and semolina flour and little cups of canned mango blended with cream. I enjoyed the porridge which was also my friend's favorite dish. The dessert was too heavy and so I only ate a little bit of it. All the food was fresh and just kept on coming and coming. In terms of atmosphere, the restaurant is casual with colorful booths and decor. Bathrooms are clean. Overall: 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 3.5/5 for atmosphere

The vegan thali had paneer (bottom left). Paneer is cheese, and is dairy.

Ask the Community - Rajdhani Thali Restaurant

Do they offer outdoor dining options during covid?

No The food makes you feel very drowsy.

What is included in Take-out Thali? A list of items would be helpful before ordering.

It's a vegetarian joint, 3 vegetables (one will have potatoes), 1 lentil, 4 roti (bread), rice and a sweet.

Any Vegan options?

Yes, there are vegan items. But the restaurant has fixed items in the plate, so they will serve you everything and you can obviously choose what not to take.

How do they give the best service and food?

I went here today after few months and I agree that the food and service have gone downhill. So to answer your question, no they don't give best food or service.

It really was beautiful in all areas and the music was authentic and the perfect volume. We ordered the tandoori chicken and it arrived at the table sizzling on the iron plate. It was the best we'd ever had, full of spices and fall off the bone tender. The server was great with tips and I liked that we could adjust the spiciness. Next was the lamb keema biryani. Again, excellent flavor and we loved the sauces served with it. The raita was just right. The garlic naan was fresh and hot. For dessert, we ordered the mango lassi, chai tea, and shared the rasmalai dessert. All excellent quality with perfect texture, temperature, snd sweetness. We were very impressed. The only reason I gave only four stars instead of an enthusiastic five, is because when we entered we were excited to sit down in the beautiful dining room to enjoy our first meal there. Instead we just kept going and were led further and further back until we reached the sports bar area and were seated with no one else around for the whole meal. There was seating available in the main dining room. It felt very isolated and detracted from our overall experience. We'll be back but next time we'll request to be seated with the general population. That aside, I highly recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised to see chilli bajji on the menu it's been a while since I've had it so I ordered a plate (comes with two chilies) along with a masala dosa. The green mint chutney served with the bajji was outstanding possibly the best I've had at any restaurant. The bajji itself was a bit cold, which was a letdown, but still decent. I just wish it had been served hotter. The masala dosa was very filling and tasted fresh, though it was also slightly cold. The aloo masala was nice; I was surprised to see peas in it, but it worked well overall. Both the chutneys and sambar were good, but the real highlight here is definitely the chutneys especially the mint and coconut, which might be the best I've had in Seattle. I also noticed a lot of people picking up food, which makes sense. I'd definitely come back again.

The appetizer section had a nice spread of salads and it was presented well. The gulabi dahi vada was unfortunately too sweet, and the inside was stiff and dry. The samosa chaat was nicely presented, and the samosa itself tasted good. They also had dhokla bites as an appetizer, but they did not have the texture of dhokla at all. Instead of being soft and fluffy, they were more grainy and doughy, and the taste was a bit strange. The paneer appetizer looked very bright, clearly colored with artificial coloring, and unfortunately it lacked flavor. The cut mirchi stuffing was good, but the peppers themselves were dry and cold. The gobi 65 was quite good. Among the curries, the kesariya egg curry was not good at all. The aloo tamata curry tasted like simple home cooked food. The palak paneer was good, and there was another creamy shahi paneer style curry which was okay. The naan seemed like it had been made when the buffet first started because it was cold when we tried it and not enjoyable. The restaurant started filling up around 12:30 to 1:00 PM. I waited for the next batch of naan and the fresh naan was much better. One issue with the restaurant layout is that the buffet setup is in the middle and feels very cramped. Once it got crowded, it was quite difficult to move around and access the dishes. On the positive side, they had a live counter for malpua with rabri and it was really good. The malpua was crispy and not overly sweet, which we liked. They also had gajar halwa and that dessert was very good as well. Overall, there was a large vegetarian spread for the buffet and the concept and presentation for Holi were nice. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately the taste of many dishes did not match the presentation. I drove about an hour from the north to get there, and personally it was not worth the drive. I would not recommend the buffet based on this experience.
