Help! I've eaten a whole burrito and I can't get up!…read more It's my fault. I knew I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing. But I just couldn't stop. The burritos here are a work of art. It has everything that you need wrapped into a beautiful tortilla. Your meat of choice (gotta go al pastor when you see a trompo like that...), actually FLAVORFUL beans and rice, melty cheese, and onions are all tucked away in a nice blanket. If you're driving home with this thing riding shot gun like I was, be prepared for it to be a bit messy, but that's a part of the experience. They also have all of the accoutrements outside of you want more onions, cilantro, or a combo of their exquisite salsas. It's a fun experience, some of the better Mexican food you'll have in Seattle, and very reasonable prices.

They're located right by a strip mall by TJ Maxx so parking is super convenient. For my visit, I ordered an al pastor taco and a carne asada taco. They were both really good and flavorful. The tacos came plain but all the topping are self serve. I kept noticing many people ordered burritos and they really piled on the meat - it might be a better bang for your buck in terms of portion and meat servings. Definitely will be back - they're super authentic and better than brick and mortar taco shops.

Our office gets a list of the weekly offerings on Monday, so when I heard that later in the week there would be Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen, bringing Filipino food, I most definitely made lunch plans. I was coming in from a meeting in Fremont, so didn't go to the pop-up/Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen as soon as it started service (around 11am). With that said, I nearly missed out on the chicken adobo! I took the last of the chicken adobo an hour and a half after the lunch service started, so was counting my blessings! I ordered the lunch plate, which came with chicken adobo, pancit, rice and pickled veggies. My lunch plate was solid. Chicken adobo was tender and really, really liked how vinegar-y the flavor was, which, any Filipino would tell you that all food tastes better with vinegar! Pancit wasn't bad, but not the best. Some of the noodles were on the dry side, but I did like the cabbage and green onion throughout. Pickled veggies were a nice addition, adding more sour flavor to the overall entree. For someone who hardly ever has Filipino food and desperately misses mom's cooking, I was just happy to have Salu-Salo bring some adobo to the area. I would definitely recommend checking out Salu-Salo if you ever see their stand around. They don't update their social media channels, unfortunately, so is a little difficult to find where their stand will be. And when I asked if they participate in any markets, they do not. But the owners did mention that they visit downtown Seattle often at other office buildings around. Therefore, I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon and getting my Filipino cuisine on. (Plus, bonus points for the owner being from the Bicol region of the Philippines, which is where my mom's side is from. Love that!)

Salu-Salo put Fillipino food on the map for me, and thank god for that…read more I do not know why it has taken so long for this cuisine to become popular in the U.S. because frankly, its freaking delicious! Salu-Salo offers a wide variety of dishes with unique flavor profiles. With some of the dishes, I can't compare them to anything I have ever tried before. For example, my favorite dish on the menu is the Laing Express, which is made with coconut milk, taro leaves, topped with a delicious crispy piece of pork belly. With a topping of pork belly, how could anything go wrong? This dish has an amazing earthy flavor, with a bit of a kick to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. How often to you get to eat purple desserts? Ube cake gets its color from purple yams! Salu-Salo's ube coconut topped ube cheesecake balls are not just adorable, they are addicting. Not overwhelmingly sweet, and perfect for sharing, these are a treat. For those with dietary restrictions, Salu-Salo is a great option because there are plenty choices. As someone who is gluten free, all of the main dishes are fair game. This is often very rare when dining out for me!! Here's to Salu-Salo for exposing Seattleites to what Filipino food is all about. Rosario's cuisine feels like a healthy take on comfort food. Each dish bursting with flavor, yet still accessible to all ages. The idea behind comfort food is all about the thought that goes into the prep. After tasting Salu-Salo's food, I promise you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation of each dish. I am looking forward to this becoming a Seattle institution, and hope it inspires more Filipino cuisine to start popping up in the PNW.

I liked that their tamales were not spicy, although on the other hand, I'd also like at least one spicy option. The reason less than five stars is that there was such a clear winner, taste-wise, between the chicken, barbacoa beef, and pork - chicken! - didn't like all of them equally. Enjoyed that they add in some unusual veggies without going overboard (the vegan would have been overboard for me). Warm corn wrapped goodness. Service was somewhat blunt.

I found the food truck and was honestly surprised that they weren't a little restaurant because this food is just worthy of having a whole sit down vibe! I ordered the veggie, a chicken, and a breakfast one to try it out and wow! They are even more delicious than I remember! The ladies taking my order were super nice and pretty quick and just the flavor of the masa and the portion of filling to masa was so perfect! I'm definitely coming back for more next time I'm in town even if I have to drive the 20 minutes extra like I did today. I do have to say the price for one tamale is high so I did take one star off for that and with that said...It is so worth it! They have several other items in the menu too but these tamales just send me back feeling so nostalgic I'm just coming back for them and if these are that tasty, I can only imagine how delicious the other food items are. You should check them out. I doubt you will be disappointed! See for yourself!
