freshly made appams on portable stoves atop their serving line...complex cooking in a fast-food setting
    Prairie S.

A fast-food restaurant in an old mall serves up excellent south Indian delicacies made hot and fresh, like in a home kitchen. The flow of the establishment leaves a lot to be desired. Ordering and pickup are at the same spot --with partially completed orders sitting out and the lady behind the counter encouraging you to take whatever is prepared and return for the rest-- this causes crowds, confusion, and errors. Health issues? Multiple people talking over your prepared food as it sits waiting for a pickup. Backed up orders create chaos. Such a shame. I can see the cooks are hustling so hard making food. But without a well-organized flow their valient culinary efforts can go awry with missed items in orders and cross contamination. I have gone back multiple times to eat appam (unusual rice flour pancake from Kerala) with their black channa curry. However, if I could I would like to find a more capably managed restaurant. The Goan fish curry, appam and kaddala curry, the dosas are all noteworthy. The satisfaction marred only by the lack of organization, and their complex board of menu items reflects this. Kudos to the customers who are unfamiliar with Indian food -- and courageously order items! I rounded up to 4 STAR because I don't have the heart to ding the hardworking cooks at this establishment...churning out authentic tasting south Indian delicacies :)

This is located in the Crossroads food court. There are a lot of Indian options here but since I was craving some Dosa, this one stood out. Masala Dosa (4): Dosa was good. Crispy and thin. The sauces and curry were pretty good as well. Decent size too. Overall, decent spot since they have a large offering of flavors and seem to execute well. I'd come back to try more of their menu.

    Appam and Veg Kurma

Chakra is located in a food court in Crossroads. They serve South indian food and are usually pretty busy. Their Biryanis and dosas are supposed to be quite famous. However, I tried the appam and Veg kurma. Firstly, the price is very reasonable and they have a good selection. The food was good but not the best appams I've had. If you're craving appam then give this place a try!

    Restaurant in food court

This is a restaurant in the food court in a mall. So parking is not a concern. We were the first ones there on a weekday and can see some of the dishes being prepared. We clearly communicated that it would take 20 minutes. While we were there, we could see orders pouring in some non Indians but Asians ordered dosa straightway, looks they are familiar. We ordered Set Dosa It was 3 big dosa with chutney and sambar. Chutney was refrigerated, but sambar was fresh and hot. Sambar Vada It came with 2 vada in sambar with fresh onion and cilantro as garnish. Some of the other reviews had conveyed that the vada was dense. We were there when they fried them and figured out the reason. They are not refrying the vada. The problem was that they were using refrigerated batter. When you refrigerate vada batter, all the air in the batter is lost. Hence, it becomes dense. I hope they fix it. Pongal, it was mushy but tasted good, though. Veg Combo with parotta, veg kuruma, and paneer tikka masala and rice. Parotta was freshly made, and the sides were good. Coffee was good, too. There is not much to talk about ambiance as it is in food court. Overall, a few fixes have great potential to shine. Sorry, I forgot to take food pictures.

Not really a great fan of this place. Their Filter Coffee is great though - I always come here just to have filter coffee. My reservation about this place comes after trying out their Chettinad Chicken. I was really hopeful about getting good Chettinad flavor from Chakra but was bitterly disappointed. The gravy was thin, chicken was not good - the balance of coconut seemed off. One of my friends cooks a better Chettinad Chicken than this restaurant.

    Onion masala dosa and vada

Ordered onion masala dosa and vada. Both came piping hot, with tomato chutney, coconut chutney and sambar. Dosa was very big. Extremely fresh and well made. The vadas were nice and crispy. The only thing was the tomato chutney felt a little stale. But overall good food and satisfied taste buds.

Hands down the best dosa we have had in the state. :) the masala dosa (with potatoes) were amazing. Big portion, light, tasty and filling. Service was very fast. We would be back!

Came here for a quick dinner and was amazed with the quality and taste of food here . Being inside a mall, I thought it would be "yet another " Indian restaurant, but I was wrong ! This is a typical Madurai style restaurant. South Indian foood was ultimate . We started off with a chicken pepper fry . It was good . Could have been more spicy , but tasted good . For our main course we ordered seeraga sambaa rice mutton biryani ... it was ultimateeeeeeeeeee.. superbbbb food . One of the best biryanis I have ever had . We also ordered parotta with mutton curry . Out of the world too .. very spicy and authentic taste . Had veg biryani . It was ok . And Vada was good . Overall - non veg was ultimate . Veg was ok . I thought of giving 5/5 , but had to give 4/5 because of the slightly below taste of veggie dishes ! I'll surely recommend it to others ..

I have eaten several times at Chakra and keep coming back for their very flavorsome and tangly chicken dishes ranging from their chicken chettinad to their Madaras chicken curry. Their South Indian dishes are absolutely delicious! Worth a try! Check it out next time you're at Crossroads!

    Apollo Fish
    Ratish K.

The nearest restaurant for our "mallu" Kerala. What we love are the Kerala Parotta. The first time I ordered, was happy to see that they did not reheat Parotta from a frozen one but prepared on a hot tava. We ordered the Parotta combo with Madurai Mutton and another one with Pallipalayam Chicken curry. Both of these tasted good but they were very oily. Strangely, both of them had the same flavor and tasted similar. We also ordered Chilly chicken and Apollo Fish. Apollo Fish was good, the chilly chicken was little dry.

Loved the sauce and tenderness. I do find it a little expensive, almost $18, for a food court serving.

You're in an old food court with people reading books they just bought from half priced books, there's a live band called the "Criminal Squirrel Orchestra" singing their experimental folk indie in matching hot pink tees thanking the audience for putting up with them after each song lol, and all the restaurants has that "Global Village Coffeehouse" aesthetic (look it up you'll know what I mean ). The old navy and Barnes and nobles have their old logo, there are middle aged artists and craftsman tabling their handmade pottery, quilted aprons, or homegrown beeswax, an extremely worn out play area with children running around, you can see people on computers at the library which is connected to the food court? and kids riding on those kiddie car rides that rock back and forth... everything was pure nostalgia and it's all preserved here in Bellevue. Anyways the food was amazing; I didn't know what half the menu items were but I trusted google reviews for this one and the portions and range of flavors did not disappoint. James at first was hesitant because it was all vegetarian but everything was so flavorful, had so many textures we didn't even think about craving meat. There is something for everyone at this food court and there's even a Dick's just beyond the parking lot.

Very balanced Indian food on the go - assembled either in a roll or bowl. The rolls are roti - either plain or layered with pan-fried egg - filled with Indian food - Chicken Masala, Mutton Masala, Paneer Masala, Mushroom Masala, Achaari Aaloo, Aaloo Gobhi Matar and Chana Masala - along with the salad. They are served with chutneys as well. The bowls are typically fried basmati rice with a creamy tomato gravy overlaid with these exotic Indian fillings. You can customize your spice level (1-5) as well. They also offers no-egg options. We tried the Mutton masala, chicken masala and the aloo ghobi matar rolls. They do have a kiosk to place the order. The food was served very quickly. The rolls were really delicious. Though it may look small, but the portion is actually good. One roll may be enough. The tri-pod is a popular option, but that's an overkill. You may not be able to finish all. But if you want to try different rolls, that's a great option. It's a small restaurant, but seems to be popular. While we were dining in, so many customers stopped by to pick up their food. I haven't tried the bowl or the pav bhaji that day. I placed my order through Yelp, which redirects customers to DoorDash for fulfillment. Unfortunately, there was no option to specify the spice level for the paneer masala side dish, despite the restaurant description highlighting customizable spice levels as part of its offering. Because I have health-related dietary concerns, I called the restaurant immediately after placing the order to request a mild spice level. The staff member who answered was initially unable to locate my order, even after I spelled out the name multiple times, which significantly delayed the process. My husband later called and was able to get someone to find the order, but when I called back again to confirm the mild spice request, I was told it was too late to make any changes. I also had an earlier issue when I accidentally went to the wrong location and called for assistance. Rather than providing the Bellevue location's direct number or helping redirect me, I was placed on hold multiple times, which added to the inconvenience. While the food itself was excellent, the customer service and ordering experience were disappointing. Since the Yelp/ DoorDash ordering flow does not allow customers to specify spice preferences for certain items, I expected more flexibility and consideration when I called immediately after placing the order with a reasonable health-related request.
