It's been a really really long time since I been here so I decided to give it another try since I was close by. The food was pretty average IMO. I got the lamb Rogan josh and garlic naan. It was a good amount of food for price. Service was standard and it was quiet and chill. The rice was on the dry side and no flavor, the naan was thinner but still soft. I stopped in here for lunch after a car appointment at the dealership next door and it was very convenient and well-priced for the buffet. I had a bit of everything and really appreciated that they had a chicken biryani which I rarely see offered as a part of buffets. The curries were fairly average (butter chicken, saag, etc.) and mild but they weren't oily which is always nice. I also really liked that the waiter brought fresh naan to tables as it came out and in general, service was excellent. Overall, I would come back for the lunch buffet next time I have a service appointment, but wouldn't go out of my way to order off the dinner menu. read more

I had a nice quiet lunch on a Monday and the Chicken Tikka Masala at max heat was the perfect way to warm up. Even with a 6/6 slice, the flavor was fantastic and the naan and lassi worked perfectly with it. The waiter was nice and was attentive without checking in too often. I have been going here for over 20 years, and it's still one of my all time favorite places to consistently get really delicious Indian! This is actually the place where I first tried and fell in love with Indian cuisine. My favorite dishes here include the paneer tikka masala, malai kofta, and recently I've also been really enjoying their shahi paneer. Their naan is top notch, and they make the best raita I've ever had. Seriously, it's liquid gold! I always order 3 tubs of raita when we get takeout here and it's usually gone within a day or two, it's that good! The staff is always super friendly and welcoming too. Nice little Indian restaurant in Bellevue with friendly service! We came in for Friday dinner, and it wasn't too busy. We were a larger group, so we ordered 6 different curries and a bunch of garlic naan. It took around 30 minutes? For us to get our food, which wasn't ideal. Maybe it was because of the larger order? The curries are supposed to come with rice, but our server seemed to have forgotten about it. We had to ask for rice after about 10 minutes. The food itself was not bad. The garlic naan was okay, which is difficult bc I'd imagine it's hard to mess up naan. The curries themselves were not bad as well. Came here to order lunch to go. We came in and were greeted and given menus. I chose the saag paneer which comes with rice, vegetable pakora, and roti. The saag paneer was super tasty and I got it at a level 5 and it was perfectly spicy for my taste. The rice was well seasoned. The vegetable pakora was crunchy and still soft on the inside. I used their online ordering system from their website and it was easy to use. You can choose between delivery or pickup. They're currently offering $5off your order when you use their given code at checkout (until 11/30). Garlic Naan - Naan with garlic and spices $4.95. Had I known it's only 2 big pieces, I would've placed a 2nd order. Delicious naan, the garlic flavor wasn't overpowering. I'd order this again. Chicken Tikka Masala - Chicken breast in a tomato butter sauce. $16.95. Chicken Tikka Masala is our favorite when we have Indian food. This one was just as good as the others we've had at other Indian restaurant. Only difference was they used chicken breast. I think at the other places, they serve it with dark meat. Sauce was very tasty! Aloo Gobi - Cauliflower and potatoes cooked with herbs and spices. $15.75. This was a pleasant surprise. I made a mistake on the order -- I thought i was ordering Gobi Pakora. But this dish was good and I would order it again. Lamb Vindaloo - Lamb and potatoes in a spicy curry. $17.75 It was good. My husband thought it wasn't as spicy as what he expected vindaloo to be. The spice level was just right for me. Chicken Biryani - Saffron flavored basmati rice with spiced chicken $16.95. Chicken was cut in big pieces, so it seems the meat to rice ratio was off (not enough meat). I would've preferred the chicken pieces smaller. This rice dish was tasty, but I've had better biryani at other places. I ordered this dish thinking we need a rice dish. I didn't know that the other orders came with basmati rice! So we had 2 containers filled with basmati rice! Good to know for next time! Prawn Saag - Prawns cooked in creamed spinach $18.50. Another tasty dish! I think out of all the dishes we ordered, this was the most spicy. When ordering online, you do get a chance to add comments. I've noted mild spice on each item. This was the second best place within 20 to 25 miles of our house but they place in bellevue got bulldozed so best Indian food in Bellevue east side right here. The staff are attentive, always busy, grabbing order and the food is consistent so you know somebody here knows how to run a kitchen. Can't really think of having a bad meal here once in goin on seven years. We decided to eat at the restaurant. The service is excellent, everyone is very attentive and helpful. The food was okay, with a mix of hits and misses. With eating here on the weekday, there was few other people eating here, most were coming in for takeout. Eggplant Bharta- in two spoonfuls, found 8 black pepper corns, and quite a high amount of peas. There was also a thick layer of oil covering the dish. Would have preferred more eggplant present throughout the dish. Samosa- lots of chili flakes in the filling and pretty spicy. The outer pastry had a nice crunch. We've ordered take out from India Gate multiple times over the last year or two. They are very consistent. A few days ago we ordered the Aloo Gobi, Saag Paneer, Lamb Tikka Masala, Garlic naan and Onion naan. The Saag Paneer is always delicious, and the Lamb is always nicely cooked and not chewy. Really good flavor and thickness to the tikka masala sauce, too. The naan's were good but nothing particularly special. While we went with mild spiciness this time, we've tried various spice levels and they're pretty accurate; the vindaloo dishes with max spiciness is very spicy but not quite as spicy as some places. India Gate will continue to be a go-to for us for Indian take-out. read more

Between Redmond and Bellevue, one has hundreds of Indian and Pakistani restaurants to choose. This place specializes in North Indian cooking, which was its selling point for me. I grew up with my mom, aunties, and Nani cooking this type of regional cuisine regularly, and I had high expectations. I have only done take out from this place, and my orders are always prepared perfectly and delivered on time. Furthermore, I appreciate extra care is given to Saran Wrap the containers so nothing spills. We've ordered quite a few dishes from here over the last six months. Our favorites are the butter chicken, the chicken curry, chicken biryani, chili chicken, saag paneer, navrattan korma, okra masala, and vegetable masala. The spice profile is amazing, and I love that each dish has a distinct flavor. We appreciate that dishes are labeled gluten free on the menu, and the cooks take it seriously. We also love that the rice is cooked perfectly, and it's never mushy or sticky. The reason this place only gets 4 is due to the fact some dishes are a bit disappointing. The eggplant bharta and aloo gobi very mushy and greasy. We've also discovered that anything fried doesn't do well. I think I need to try again and see what I get. Reviews of this place are, um, all over the place, and my impression of the food was too. I did delivery and it arrived hot and looked great. The papadums were dry (not oily) and wonderfully crisp. The cod and potatoes in the Fish Vindaloo were cooked to perfection, but other than the outer coating of sauce didn't have any seasoning, and the vindaloo had zero spice. The cumin rice was excellent. Fluffy, wonderful light flavor. The Gobi (cauliflower) Manchurian was over cooked, but had more spice to it than the vindaloo. Uber Eats did not give me an indication that I could request a spice level, so maybe I will try that in the comments next time. Other reviews say there is a scale you can use. Here are recommendations: Got the chicken tika masala, Tandoori Chicken, garlic naan with no cilantro, chan masala (veg), aloo gobi, and Lamb Sang. Normally I would get a naan with cilantro but my wife doesn't like cilantro. Also I love biryani but the rice comes as a side dish already with the tika masala and Tandoori Chicken. Just had to wait 25 minutes on a Monday night. I would recommend ordering ahead of time online or over the phone. Total came out to be around $80 after tip. The curry's taste is authentic indian curry. Also, it comes with their rice, the best yet I've ever tried! It has some spice, not sure what is it but it's not the usual rice that every curry comes with. It has something special with it, very wow. Also, the first time we got it, they were delayed. The food is great. We've only done takeout and the woman who always takes our orders is very helpful and doesn't mind explaining how dishes differ. We love the butter chicken and naan. I know it's tough right now for the restaurant business post Covid but I'm glad there are honest people serving good food and don't push you to order more than you need.
