This place is pretty close to our house and I was surprised at how much I like this. Service is definitely not the best as the cashier ignored us for about 5-10 minutes before acknowledging us and took our order, but it's not bad. The place is quiet spacious and and bright. Foodwise: We got the cone dosa: 5/5 our kids love it. Was eating this with the dipping sauce like it was normal. This is the first time they had Indian food. Vada: love the texture , it was dense but also soft at the same time. Price was pretty reasonable and portion is good I do like the little curry that both of these dishes came with. I'd never been here before, but after trying several other packed restaurants on a Friday night, this was the only place with no wait and lots of open tables. My go-to is a cheese masala dosa and while they didn't have it on the menu, the man who took my order was so kind and accommodating and made sure they could make it for me. Our food came out really quickly and smelled amazing. The dosa was absolutely incredible and I loved the sambar. It was also my best friend and her boyfriend's first time trying dosa and I was so glad that it was a good experience for them with delicious high quality dosa. The sambar was also phenomenal and I loved how hot the food stayed. For dessert I ordered gulab jaman for all my friends and I loved how sweet and fresh it tasted. We were in the hood, so decided to grab a quick bite. 4 star for the taste - very homemade. Poori masala was the best! Set dosa was average. Tasted very sour. The thali items were very good. Though, they replace items in the thaali with other items as they keep running out of stuff. And they don't tell you that when you order. Came in to try the South Indian Thali on a Saturday around 1pm. The thali was a great serving size and was packed with flavor across all the individual dishes. We also ordered Set dosa and Vada curry: did not actually know what Vada curry was but overall taste was good. It does not come with chutney or sambar. Set dosa is paired with Vada curry. I am a South Indian and I love Thali. Someone from my work recommended this place as a good option of veg Thali. So far I have visited this place a few times. To start with, it's a self service place. Order your food and pick it up when ready. I tried their Thali - must say - really good. Loved the portion, options and taste of it. Value for money I would say. We tried young jackfruit biriyani, kottu porotta, uthappam and veg biriyani. The Uthappam was good, but disappointed with other dishes. Expected way better; somehow lacked the flavor for them. Location - far away from craziness of Bellevue/Redmond downtown. I am ok with it even though it's a hassle to reach there; plenty of parking. Service is great, people are friendly. Casual ambiance as well. If you want to try the Thali - this is a great option. We were not particularly impressed about the other options. But we went again for Thali; may go again there for the Thali. I hope they may improve their other options in the future. read more

Update 2/1/25 - downgrading to 2 stars given the amount of food we had to throw out . This is second instance where the food quality was so bad that we had to throw it out. Yesterday, ordered Upma which didn't smell or taste good , the poori had a weird oily taste, the potato curry tasted weird and lastly the chutney's were bad. Food is definitely between 4 and 5 stars. The idli here is better than most other places in the area. I wouldn't say it's the best idli I ever tried, definitely had better ones. The dosa is also nice. Sambhar is average. However the veg kottu paratha is delicious and the chutney they serve with that is amazing. They also have Gongura masala dosa which is a very interesting twist on masala dosa. Overall I recommend the place for Idli, Kottu Veg Paratha and some of interesting dosa masalas. The place has humble ambiance but food served are simple and truly authentic which I think makes this place standout from other Indian restaurants in the Eastside. Please support this place - it's hard to find authentic Indian food in Seattle area. We must treasure this if you love Indian food. Thali - 5 stars Thali comes with sambar rasam 2 sides mixed rice papad sweet and yogurt. That's all you can ask for in South Indian thali - it's great. Especially karakuzhambu is a delight (spicy warning but it's meant to be) Mini meals - 4 stars If you don't have appetite or craving for a large thali, this is a good go-to. While it doesnt have the assortments as full thali, we loved the taste. Filter Coffee - 5 stars Which it's relatively easy to make, it's a shame when most Indian restaurants mess up the filter coffee. Not here. They make one of the best filter coffees in Seattle. I make filter coffees at home every day, but this one is at least 2x better. Your visit is not complete without filter coffee. Try it for yourself. read more

Anything tiffins reminds me of the food that I ate during my college days back in India. Authentic South Indian tiffin meals. Food was deliciously good. Ordered thaali meals, onion utthappam, Plain dosa, Vada Sambar, veg kotthu paratha. Thaali meals were ultimately good- lemon pepper Rasam was extremely tasty. Quantity of the food is very good. Plain dosa chutney was lovely combination. Vada was crispy and nice. Utthappam was undercooked. Kotthu paratha was very filling. Overall all food was delicious. Ambience 4/5. Huge spacious place. We have been here multiple times and all their dosas are excellent. This is true of pooris and vadas as well. However, the quality of sambar and chutneys leaves much to be desired. They are bland and watery. Hardly any flavor or spice. For people visiting from India, this is still the most authentic South Indian food. STAY AWAY!! We have been coming to Jayam tiffins about once every 2 months since they opened and I have noticed a marked drop in their food quality and service during each visit. Our recent visit with my parents was absolutely the "last straw that broke the camel's back" - for me.. Not only was the food incredibly badly made, it took almost 1 hour for them to serve simple dosas and fried rice. I understand that rava dosas take a little longer to prepare, but definitely not 1 hour. In addition, it was so badly made (dryness, not fresh batter) that it was barely edible. Gobi 65 fried rice - the gobi was fried to a point of "chips level" crispiness, dripping with oil, rice was over cooked, but veggies were under cooked - overall a disaster of a dish. The most critical comment I have is about the behavior of one of the staff calling out names when the orders are ready. At one point we had waited for 45 minutes+ and I had walked up to the counter with my mom to find out about our order and I heard this person saying to the cook inside: "Dei sikram kudu da dosaiya, perusu vera vandurukku". For those who aren't fluent in Tamil, this is an outright insult and one of the most derogatory terms that can be used against elderly people. It roughly translates to "Hey give the dosa fast, this 'old one' has also come to ask". I know I will be staying away from Jayam tiffins forever now. You have been warned - don't go here especially with kids or parents, there are much better South Indian pure veg restaurants within 2-3 miles from this place. read more

I tried their Kara masala dosa with onions and coffee. The dosa was good and just crispy enough. We went on a weekday for lunch so it wasn't as crowded. Coffee was pretty good too. Overall I had a good experience. The only reason I took off a star is because of their sambar quantity. When I went to ask for more, there was a grumpy uncle who didn't seem too happy about it. Most restaurants don't care if you want more or they'll just charge extra, but that uncle really didn't want to give up the sambar. After politely asking twice, I didn't ask the third time. Have read couple of reviews in regard to filter coffee. So wanted to give it a shot. Try asked if it has to be strong or normal. Opted for a stronger version and it did not feel strong at all. I liken this to a Tamil version of "fried rice" with all sorts of dimensions in the flavors. There were 4 or 5 dipping sauces, but unsurprisingly the yogurt was especially good w/ biryani. Went here for lunch with some friends after a short hike. We got the poori with potato and a Mysore masala dosa. Both were pretty good and quite authentic, but the portions did not justify the price. The food is fresh, the restaurant gets crowded, everything is made to order and tastes like home, just doesn't feel worth the price. I'd probably skip going here again. read more

Taste was good, it has the closest South Indian flavor compared to other restraurants in this area. We ordered mini tiffin, briyani and some more items, no complaints there. Our main concern is with service and method of serving food. Front desk staffs are unwelcoming, their responses and gestures makes us feel uncomfortable at times. Lastly, their use of plastic is scary, extremely hot sambhar and briyanis are served in thin plastic containers, even for dine-in. We know it is the same practice in almost all restaurants for to-go, but seeing the plastic containers texture change due to heat is not something you want to see in a dine-in experience I hope they understand the long term effect of these plastics and minimize its use. Until they change their serving method and demonstrate care for public health, I will stop visiting this restaurant. read more

We ordered upma, masala dosai, pongal and vadai via doordash. Everything tasted authentic ( tamil), yummy and reminded us of home. The quantity of sambar and chutney provided were generous and the quality was high ( with cashews and curry leaves in the upma) . This is an excellent addition to the South Indian vegetarian options in Bellevue. The food is fast, spiced right and tasty. We ate dosas, vadas and the gobi biryani. The kesari bath was excellent, even if it had a bit too much ghee ( is it ever too much?). The filter coffee was the perfect end to the meal. The place was decorated well and inviting. It's self service, so it's got a old school feel. Parking was easy even if the place is tucked away in a strip mall. We're going to be back here for sure, the thali looks great! read more
