Idly vada combo(2Idly, 1 vada)
Sameer K.

I used take Idly Rasam to go from them. The taste was consistently good. Today the guy at the counter was very rude. No greeting, no smile. He asked a lady behind me for the order. Does not know line. When I asked for to go he made face. Then walked to the kitchen staff. They spoke in their language. My order was significantly delayed. The quantity of sambar was too smallIt was miserable. Only idly rasam is good. Other is TRASH

Veg Kottu parotta

Flavorful food, hearty portion size, quick service and plain ambience. This is a self service restaurant, the service was super quick. Medu vada was okay but the sambar and two chutneys- green and red were yum. Kottu veg parotta was decent, flavours and spices can be amped up! The lunch highlight was Jackfruit biryani!!! Simply delicious Mango lassi was good. The food was light on the palette which we ended with a filter kaapi. This is a vegetarian restaurant and loads to offer. Ample parking spots available, the area has lots of asian cuisine restaurants lined up. Would definitely like to revisit jayams for bisibele bhat and more of Jackfruit biryani! + Much More

Set dosa

We were in the hood, so decided to grab a quick bite. 4 star for the taste - very homemade. Poori masala was the best! Set dosa was average. Tasted very sour. The thali items were very good. Though, they replace items in the thaali with other items as they keep running out of stuff. And they don't tell you that when you order. So if you are getting the thaali for some specific items, make sure to ask if they still have it. There are very few tables and very casual vibe.

Thali

Amazing South Indian cuisine! I've visited twice and enjoyed the thali both times--it's incredibly comforting and flavorful. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is warm and welcoming. I'm excited to try more items from the menu. A must-visit spot for authentic South Indian food!

South Indian - Special Thali
Netra B.

Came in to try the South Indian Thali on a Saturday around 1pm. The thali was a great serving size and was packed with flavor across all the individual dishes. We also ordered Set dosa and Vada curry: did not actually know what Vada curry was but overall taste was good. It does not come with chutney or sambar. Set dosa is paired with Vada curry. Mysore masala dosa: dosa was flavorful. Chutney was good, sambar can get better. This is a self service restaurant with ample free parking available.

I am a South Indian and I love Thali. Someone from my work recommended this place as a good option of veg Thali. So far I have visited this place a few times. To start with, it's a self service place. Order your food and pick it up when ready. I tried their Thali - must say - really good. Loved the portion, options and taste of it. Value for money I would say. We tried young jackfruit biriyani, kottu porotta, uthappam and veg biriyani. The Uthappam was good, but disappointed with other dishes. Expected way better; somehow lacked the flavor for them. Location - far away from craziness of Bellevue/Redmond downtown. I am ok with it even though it's a hassle to reach there; plenty of parking. Service is great, people are friendly. Casual ambiance as well. If you want to try the Thali - this is a great option. We were not particularly impressed about the other options. But we went again for Thali; may go again there for the Thali. I hope they may improve their other options in the future.

Food is definitely between 4 and 5 stars. The idli here is better than most other places in the area. I wouldn't say it's the best idli I ever tried, definitely had better ones. The dosa is also nice. Sambhar is average. However the veg kottu paratha is delicious and the chutney they serve with that is amazing. They also have Gongura masala dosa which is a very interesting twist on masala dosa. Overall I recommend the place for Idli, Kottu Veg Paratha and some of interesting dosa masalas. The place is not big and it's more of a self service place.

Jayam's has become my latest go-to place when I crave authentic south Indian meals. The place has humble ambiance but food served are simple and truly authentic which I think makes this place standout from other Indian restaurants in the Eastside. Please support this place - it's hard to find authentic Indian food in Seattle area. We must treasure this if you love Indian food. Thali - 5 stars Thali comes with sambar rasam 2 sides mixed rice papad sweet and yogurt. That's all you can ask for in South Indian thali - it's great. Especially karakuzhambu is a delight (spicy warning but it's meant to be) Mini meals - 4 stars If you don't have appetite or craving for a large thali, this is a good go-to. While it doesnt have the assortments as full thali, we loved the taste. Filter Coffee - 5 stars Which it's relatively easy to make, it's a shame when most Indian restaurants mess up the filter coffee. Not here. They make one of the best filter coffees in Seattle. I make filter coffees at home every day, but this one is at least 2x better. Your visit is not complete without filter coffee. Try it for yourself.

Medu Vada

Anything tiffins reminds me of the food that I ate during my college days back in India. Authentic South Indian tiffin meals. Food was deliciously good. Ordered thaali meals, onion utthappam, Plain dosa, Vada Sambar, veg kotthu paratha. Thaali meals were ultimately good- lemon pepper Rasam was extremely tasty. Quantity of the food is very good. Plain dosa chutney was lovely combination. Vada was crispy and nice. Utthappam was undercooked. Kotthu paratha was very filling. Overall all food was delicious. Ambience 4/5. Huge spacious place. Self service and quick. Price 5/5. Had great dinner. Will visit soon for the variety of biriyanis that is served on weekends. Would definitely want to try the jackfruit biriyani.

Medu Vada

We are so excited to have a good South Indian restaurant on the East side. We have been here multiple times and liked everything we have tried. We love their Masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa, Medhu Vada, and Poori Masala. Of their special items, we have tried the Veg biryani, veg pulao, and Jackfruit biryani, and liked all of them. Also, like their buttermilk and Badam milk.

Oh my ! This place was a nostalgia to my hometown. .the food was very authentic and amazing. They served in good quantity and the service was very quick. Loved their poori , sambar and all variety of dosa. Their mini tiffin was also perfect and their kootu was a highlight. If you love filter coffee with subtle sugar - then it's a must try here. I will be frequenting this place for sure

Are there are completely dairy-free (no ghee, butter, cream, milk, etc) or vegan options? We have a dairy and egg allergy in our household.

Don't think they are dairy free but they are an egg free vegetarian restaurant.

The staff here are beyond friendly and honestly always make my morning. I love that they do a punch card after your 10th drink punch you get $6 off your order. They also do raffles sometimes, which I think is such a fun touch. Another thing I like is that they always have themed or specialty drinks. I haven't tried them yet, but I think it's fun that they get creative, especially around the holidays or different seasons. I also really recommend their breakfast burritos. The vegetarian burrito and the sausage burrito are both so good, definitely ask for hot sauce because it makes them even better. The only downside is that the line can get pretty long sometimes. I've definitely waited around 15 minutes before, so it's best if you have a little extra time. That said, once you place your order they make the drinks and heat up the food pretty quickly, which helps move things along. Overall, if you have a few extra minutes to spare, I totally recommend stopping by. It's conveniently located, the drinks are great, and the friendly service makes it worth the wait.

And I've been coming regularly throughout the years since before the pandemic. It was about 7:10am, I get to the window and was reading from my phone my kids' orders to the person at the window. I won't name her but she identified as one of the managers. I ordered 3 lotus drinks, 2 chocolate chip muffin tops (I'll talk about the Asiago bagel later). They only had one chocolate chip. But that's not the issue, the issue began when I contacted my kids to ask what they wanted because only chocolate chip remained. I asked the manager what are our options, which I then repeated back to my kids. We ended up setting on Rasberry. But the manager handed me Orange, which I then had her give me the correct one. She then huffed with frustration. Then, she assumed that my order was complete and I said, I would also like an Asiago bagel with cream cheese. Then she huffed again in frustration. And then says to me "in the future, you should come prepared with your order. We have a line of regulars (there were several cars behind me) that are waiting." So I said that I was prepared with my order, but they didn't have the muffin that we have always gotten in the past. So I wasn't the one who didn't come prepared. She didn't like that answer and rudely said is there anything else I can get you because we have a line of customers. I was speechless in disbelief. Then she hands over the ipad for me to pay, I then paid but didn't leave a tip (for obvious reasons). Then she pulls back the ipad and say "okay, so no tip on this order" very rudely. I told her that I felt she was being rude and she said well I'm one of the managers and you can take it up with me. So I did, but she wasn't listening to me cause she wanted to get to her "regular" customers. Very rude treatment for a place that we liked and appreciated, and gave lots of business to for so many years. Such a disappointing experience.

We were surprised at how well they packed the steak and brisket pho. The noodles and pre-cooked meat were in a bowl and the veggies were on a tray that laid on top of the bowl to keep it separate. All you had to do was pour the hot broth into the bowl and add the accompaniments. Very nice! I felt that the amount of meat was very generous and I favored the brisket over the steak (maybe because it's more fatty). I liked the portion of noodles that I was given. It might not be as much as other shops, but I don't like too much noodles. The broth was pretty mediocre. The flavor lacked a certain je nais se qois. The pork banh mi was also just OK. The meat was a little dry and chewy. And the pickled vegetables didn't seem that pickles. Maybe they were quickled? The star of the show here was the bread itself. The interior was soft and the outside had a light crispness that was delightful and I didn't feel like my mouth would get cut. The shop itself is pretty cute since they basically inherited it from the previous restaurant. And there is plenty of parking in the Crossroads Plaza. I think they opened last October so they still seem fairly new to me and have potential to be better.

85 DEGREE BAKERY @ BELLEVUE…read more Parking at this location can be a bit tricky. This 85°C Bakery is located in a large plaza that's always busy, especially since it's surrounded by popular food spots and restaurants. Because of that, the area can get pretty packed, but I was still really excited to stop by this location. As soon as you walk in, the space feels very open and spacious. I loved how big it was and how many tables they had available. Most 85°C Bakery locations feel more like a grab-and-go spot, so I appreciated that this one had plenty of seating and room to hang out. They also have touchscreen kiosks where you can order drinks and other items without needing help from a staff member. We walked around and looked at all the bakery items, and I'm always a fan of their almond croissants and protein breads. The chicken Hawaiian bun is one of my favorites, and their sausage bun is also delicious it's clearly a popular item. I also ordered their sea salt coffee. If you download the 85°C Bakery app and it's your first time using it, you get a free sea salt coffee, which was a nice bonus. While the food and drinks were great, the service was unfortunately lacking. One customer was confused about her order, and a staff member rolled her eyes at her. The same staff member also rolled her eyes at me and my family while we were in line. Overall, the staff didn't seem very friendly or welcoming. There wasn't much smiling or engagement, and it felt like everyone was annoyed rather than excited to help. We also noticed staff packaging food with boxes out in the open during our visit. I personally think this is something that should be done in the back or at least behind the register, rather than directly in front of customers. Overall, the experience was decent mainly because the bakery items and drinks were fresh and delicious. However, the staff could definitely be friendlier, as customer service plays a big role in the overall experience.
