This restaurant has been here for a few years now but I just got around to trying it with my daughter. The venue is very functional and simple. No real decorations other than TV screens for menu items, a self serve station with water dispenser/napkins/utensils, and tables and chairs. There is another TV that plays what appears to be Indian music videos on YouTube. The place didn't look dirty or anything. The biggest problem for me here was service. I just cannot support restaurants that ask for tips when they do not provide service. Everything here is Self-Serve. They don't even take the food to your table. They call your name and you have to go get it. When you're done, you have to bus your own table. You have to go get the water, utensils, and napkins. Next time I go here, I will not be tipping. I hope they stop asking for tip or they actually start providing services that deserve a tip. The food was good though. Butter chicken...is just butter chicken (I had to order it because this is what my daughter always orders at Indian restaurants). Saag Paneer was excellent. Very creamy and balanced. This is unlike most of the Indian restaurants I've ever been in. More like a quick service Indian restaurant in the best way possible. They have what I'd describe as Indian bento. The lunch special is a "bento" of yummy Indian curry. Comes with either basmati rice or Naan, 2 curry of the day, and a few side things. If you like spicy, I highly recommend upgrading the rice to the chicken curry. So good! They had many other desserts and sides that I've never seen or tried before in the glass case. We've been ordering takeout from this restaurant since it first opened, and they've consistently maintained their great taste while expanding their menu. We've tried most of the vegetarian dishes, and their thali is definitely worth the price--delicious and generously portioned. The Indo-Chinese options are also flavorful. Recently, we ordered a few appetizers, including mirchi bhaji, jumbo samosas, and Mysore bonda. While everything tasted good, the Mysore bonda felt slightly undercooked and didn't hold up well as a takeout item. Overall a good restaurant and would definitely keep coming back. read more

This was great, loved every part of the meal. The goat and fish curries were good. With upma, idli, vada combo; the vada seem to super crispy than I desired. The Dahi Vada was too tangy to my taste. The buttermilk was good, it did feel like they added chat masala or something else which wasn't to my liking. The worst were the chutney's. I ordered 2 vegetarian thalis today and specifically mentioned in the notes that it must be vegetarian. But when the order arrived, one of the curries was chicken. My husband and I are both strictly vegetarian, and we almost ended up eating it. The worst part was the response when I called the restaurant. The first time, a staff member hung up on me. The second time, a lady answered, but there was no remorse or accountability, just a dismissive "sorry, we can't do anything." This is completely unacceptable. If the owner is reading this, your staff and kitchen team really need to improve their service and quality checks. This isn't the first time; it has happened with my husband before too, which makes me believe it's a recurring issue. The food is pretty decent, but it doesn't matter if it never arrives. For the second time in a month, I ordered take-out, in-person. I asked how long it would take, as I (quite obviously) had my 2-year old kid with me, and was told less than 15 minutes each time. To be clear, I ordered the Thali - the dish of the day which is ALREADY prepared. It's the quickest order they can fill. Yesterday, after many claims that our food was "being made right now," and after my kid was losing his mind from hunger and boredom, we finally got our food after 37 minutes. Evidently, I was told, they had a "large order" come in while we were waiting. I don't know that there was even a perfunctory "I'm sorry." I guess I was supposed to just deal with it (as well as the obviously-untrue comments about our food being put into bags "right now"). I really don't know what their expectation was at this point. I have a small child with me and a hungry family at home, and I specifically asked how long an order would take so that I could plan accordingly. [I was given a very precise answer yesterday of "12 minutes," to which I commented about the precision in advance.] Anyway, if you're going to tell someone that their mostly-premade food is going to take 12 minutes, and you sit and watch them try to contain their 2-year old peacefully while waiting, and time continues to pass with no progress, I don't really know what to say about an establishment that would allow this to happen. I used to order from here ALL THE TIME, and now the number of orders they will receive from my five-person family is zero. I just don't understand the calculus there. Even basic decency would suggest to offer a gesture once the food was finally ready, let alone the business sense of not wanting to alienate a reliable customer who (1) orders for multiple people, (2) pays in cash to help a family business, and (3) tips in cash for TAKE-OUT orders. If I can't trust a business to make a smart decision like throwing a profitable customer in the trash, I can't trust them to make food which I intend on eating. Ordered Chana Chaat which was literally just canned channas with a lot of onion and some tomato, I could've made it tastier at home. Chilli Paneer was super oily...literally a puddle of oil at the bottom. Don't be fooled with the low prices! They compensate with smaller portions sizes and low quality food. Also, if you have any mistakes in the order they won't entertain you by replacing anything like any other decent restaurant would. Saw it happen again with another person ordering right there. This was my go-to for biryani but I've noticed their quality of food decline over time. Latest experience - the chicken in the biryani was totally dried out, most likely stale and re-used from the day before. It was not cooked "in" the rice (you know you have to cook the 2 together to let the flavors blend in) and was simply tossed on top of the rice. Disappointing! This is probably the Indian restaurant closest to my home, so I finally decided to order dinner on Sat. night. The order included five items (one of them begin naan). When my daughter got home, we were missing our order of saag, which did appear on the receipt. I wasn't really interested in driving there and back (it's not THAT close ... would've been at least 20 minutes round trip), so I called to see if they would refund that portion of my bill. They wouldn't. They said I could come pick up my saag whenever and that "they'll remember me." First impressions matter, and this one was poor. When packing items in a to-go back, check them off of the receipt. It's a simple method. If you don't provide someone stuff they've paid for, give their money back. These are simple concepts of customer service. The food was (and I'm being honest) just okay, IMO. Frankly, I rarely get Indian food that I don't think is at least quite good, if not great. This is simply a solid spot for an Indian lunch. Simply Indian Restaurant is as the name indicates, a simple, Indian eatery in Factoria. I learned that at Simply Indian, they offer a two-protein entrée with dal, rice, a dessert and chapati, so I decided to give this place a try for lunch one day. I visited Simply Indian on a weekday for lunch and was surprised to find that this very small spot is takeout only, as they do not offer dine-in. There were seats and tables outside, but if you're planning to dine in then you'll have to elsewhere. I ordered the two-meat combination, which always comes with a chicken and mutton curry. Simply Indian was busy with takeout orders. My order took about 15 minutes to get, and it seemed that most everyone was getting a combination special, which is a good deal for it if you want a little bit of everything. Both of the meat curries were very tasty, and I liked that it had some good spice to them. I was also pleasantly surprised that the rice was half white and half chicken biryani! I like biryani, so this was nice to have, to go with the curries. Plus, the biryani had a lot of chicken in the rice too. The dal and chapati were both solid additions. The only item I wasn't a fan of was the dessert, which was a sweet rice side. Overall, Simply Indian is a good spot if you're looking for an Indian lunch combination that has a lot of flavor and spice to it. Portion was large and was fairly priced at $12.99. Here's an Indian place in Factoria that my husband tried but I never did until tonight. We ordered the Thali Box, one with meat and one vegetarian and samosas. This is a casual place where you order at the counter and then take a seat and wait. I ordered the meat Thali box with butter and mango chicken and the Gulab Jamun. It was nice that they let me choose my 2 meat curries and dessert. I didn't know if it was a "set" Thali box where the options were chosen by the restaurant. My husband ordered the Chana Masala Curry (with red pinto beans). The food was good and I was happy for the variety so I could try a little bit of everything. I didn't get many pieces of meat in my butter chicken. The mango chicken was flavorful but it tasted a bit like mango juice/concentrate mixed in with a creamy chicken sauce. It wasn't bad but I won't be ordering it again. It came with white rice, roti and biryani chicken. We received our samosas at the very end of our meal so the timing of serving dishes was out of order. I was so full by the time the samosa came along so I didn't eat it. Overall though, I enjoyed the food here. The portions were the right size (I couldn't finish the chicken biryani). What I liked most is that it didn't feel heavy or oily and sit in my stomach after eating it like some other Indian places I have dined at. I'd been meaning to try the place for a year now but was skeptical because most Indian restaurants in the area seem to start off strong and then fizzle out. Today we made the short drive and got dinner to-go, and now I hate myself for missing out on almost 2 years of this awesomeness. -- Non Veg Rice Thali Today's selection came with a chicken curry, a goat curry and a chicken biryani. The meats were so incredibly flavorful and fall off the bone tender. The dishes were all perfectly spiced and aromatic. They honestly reminded me of mom's cooking back home. The thali also comes with one roti, some white rice, dal and a small dessert (it was kheer today which isn't really my thing). My one complain with the dish would be that I wish it had 2 rotis instead of one given how thin they are and how well they go with the curries. -- Veg Roti Thali This comes with 4 rotis and no rice. It also comes with 2 curries and dal as well as a dessert. Today they had chana masala and bottle gourd (dudhi/lauki). All of the dishes were delicious and well balanced and my wife said the lauki reminded her of her grandma's cooking(including being a little overcooked for my liking) which is as high a praise as one can levy on a dish. The portions that came in the veg roti thali were a fair bit more than those that came with the non-veg thali but both were very filling and value for money. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was more home style (or canteen/tiffin style) rather than your standard restaurant style. The flavors were also clearly more Andhra style than Delhi/Punjab although I did see a Punjabi cook too so I'm sure those dishes will be nice too. I can't wait to go back here and try a lot of their other dishes and I sincerely home the keep up the quality for a long long time because I'm about to start texting all my friends to go try this place asap. After first trying this place just over a year ago. It now has become a monthly staple. We probably get this for take out twice a month.... sometimes more. Their food is soo good! We have tried more of their curries now. Every one of them hits the spot and tastes so great every time! The prices are reasonable. The Butter Masala, Tikka Masala, and Saag curries have become our go-tos. They offer paneer options for each which is awesome since my wife is a vegetarian. We order the butter naan and garlic naan each time. So great and delicious. For an appetizer, we usually get the jumbo samosas each time. One a piece is great. At only $5 an order, it is a great deal too. We have tried the chicken 65, paneer 65, chili chicken, and paneer chicken. These are also at a great price. The staff here is very friendly. The service is quick. The food stays hot and fresh even after a roughly 10-15 minute drive home. We love this place. Try it! Try a few different things! Find some favorites, which is easy to do! WOW! I'm so glad that Factoria now has an Indian restaurant! Not only is it close by to where I run my errands, but you can't beat the prices and portions! I used to go to Chili's in U-District for South Indian food. My favorite order was the Thali (plate/platter) because you get a variety of curries plus the dal/sambar plus bread and rice. They charge about $19 for theirs ($17 vegetarian). Simply Indian Restaurant only charges $12 for their ($11 vegetarian). The last time I went to Chili's they also forgot my Thali (but included the soup and other curries) and so I honestly haven't been back since. Simply's Thali combo comes with two curries, dal, rice, roti, and a dessert (which happened to be bread halwa today (so basically Indian bread pudding). It was more than enough for my lunch and I have leftovers waiting for me in the fridge. All the food was absolutely amazing; I liked that they included one creamy curry and one non-creamy curry. Service was excellent. The hostess (note that they only have one or two tables out front for seating, so it's really a takeout place) was very friendly and brought me my food within 10 or less minutes of ordering at around noon on a weekday. If you are looking for some absolutely delicious Indian food at affordable prices, look no further than Simply Indian! I've been to this establishment several times and the service has been great! It usually is a 10ish minute wait from when you order to when you get your food, so it usually is good to order online and then come and pick up your food. The restaurant is mostly take out at this time, but there are small seating arrangements outside, and I heard from the person in the front that they are planning adding more seating areas in the future nearby. I've tried the combo meal, roti combo meal, and chicken tikka masala - and I would say you definitely get a good bang for your buck in terms of both flavor and dollar! For $12, you can get the combo meal, which includes two curries, your choice of rice or roti (difference between roti and combo meal), a dal or sambar, and a Gulab Jamun as small dessert option. I personally think that this is a generous amount of food for the price you pay, which is nice! The curries and dal/sambar have great flavor and a decent amount of spice (in terms of both flavor and heat spice) to wake up your taste buds - making the combo a fantastic way to just sample what the restaurant has to offer! The chicken and mutton in the curries are tender, that combined with the fluffy rice, act basically as sponges to the curry - yum! The chicken tikka masala is scrumptious! Nice creamy tomato flavor and tender pieces of chicken that soak up this delicious sauce very nicely. There are pieces of bell pepper in the curry, and you may not get enough rice for your order since you do get a good amount of tikka masala. Overall, on average I would pay less than $20 (approx $12 - $18 depending on what sides you want) for a delicious filling meal from Simply Indian. Which I think is a great price for food that feels homemade! Everything is delicious and made fresh. I opened the bag and drooled out of my mouth because everything sparkled (and smelled soooo good)! The samosas are so flavorful and their seasoning is mouth-watering! The chicken dum biryani is huuuuuge and the meat was cooked to tender perfection, I had a dream about eating it again but then I woke up... Their rice is fluffy and their curries-of-the-day were chicken and fish, and they're both amazing with great balance between the spices and the meat. The roti's texture is very good and pairs with the spicy curries well. Super bonus: everything withstands being re-heated the next day and still taste fresh. It's all a bit on the spicy side (obviously) so just be aware of this if you're the type to adjust your spice levels when ordering. Check online to see what they're serving on any day of the week, because it changes. There was a small hiccup with my order, where I had to turn around to pick up some missing samosas, but the cashier (Sukeerhi) was extremely kind and understanding--he had the samosas ready to go and even included a mango lassi as an apology. We were there on Saturday (2/5), they had Chicken Dum Biryani, and a few other items. We were hoping for Goat Biryani and were told they had Goat Biryani on Friday and Sunday last week. The next time we will call and confirm before we go. We got Chicken Dum Biryani (Family Pack), Brinjal Tam, and Shrimp Curry. The Chicken Dun Biryani was good, the family pack was a lot bigger than we expected. Shrimp curry was good, I little sweeter than I expected and had a layer of oil on the top that I had to take off beforewe could eat it. Regarding the ambiance store seems to be designed for a take-out experience only, though there is some dining but there is not service for that. Thaali came with two small portions of rice items - a plain rice and chicken biryani, Egg masala curry, Chicken curry, Daal, and Gulab Jamun. All in all, it tasted good and portion size was great. Chicken Fried rice could've been great if there's less MSG in it ‍. I like the meat in both Mutton items - it was juicy and fresh. And meat in Mutton Biryani a bit bland to my taste, despite the Biryani rice being packed with flavour - idk how that happened Anyways its worth the trip to this place. I have been here twice. Both times have been a pleasant experience. The guy that works the front is pretty helpful about the menu. The price is pretty affordable for an Indian restaurant. I usually order the thali roti with meat because I love roti. It is a lot more spicy than compared to a lot of things in the menu. If you can not handle hot spicy things, do not order. The lamb curry dish was way less spicy. It was also very good. The roti is delicious. It comes with a chicken and a lamb dish. Both are good but very spicy to the point I was sweating at the end of the meal. This place seems really popular for take out. People seem to stream in and out picking up orders while we were here. The restaurant was pretty much empty with two other tables occupied the two times I have been here around lunch time. I am thoroughly entertained with the music videos streaming as background music. Terrible customer service and misinformation. Called them to ask about specific dishes to check if they were gluten free since the people we were ordering for have a gluten allergy and 2) their menu doesn't match up. The person who answered the phone said the one dish that we wanted WAS gluten free after I specifically asked him about it a couple of times. We then ordered it and then they called back 20 minutes later and said it wasn't and this delayed our order. Moreover, one of their vegetarian dishes says "chicken" in the body of the description yet it's labeled as vegetarian. Finally the quality of the food was not up to par relative to other Indian restaurants. The curries were overly watery. I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant with both poor menu labeling and the terrible communication on allergens in their dishes. read more

The price of both the thalis is probably unbeatable, and the fact that you get to try so many things on the menu! It tastes very home made which we loved but don't go in expecting amazing food. It was comforting and totally worth the price we spent. For the thalis, they are $12 if you get the curries of the day but you pay additional charges if you choose any of the other curries on the menu! The rotis were pretty good and fresh. The kofta and butter chicken were probably my favorite in terms of flavor and spice. The daal with the pickle was also a good combo. REALLY wanted to try this place as someone had suggested... The lady at the front counter was very kind and explained all the choices by pointing to printout photos on the wall.. This is a take out joint only with a table for two available inside and one outside.. Ordered a Non-Veg Thali and chose the 'Roti/Phulka' option... The lady brought the tray with a to-go box which had 4 rotis/phulkaas rolled up in foil.. In the box there was a small portion of Goat Curry and Chicken Curry.. There was one small container with Daal Tadka and a 'Chutney' container with Sweet Rice.. Was super hungry but realized that the roti's were not cooked and heated well, pretty sure it was Costco rotis just heated or microwaved.. The chicken and goat portions were small. The chicken tasted average and the goat curry tasted slightly better.. Wasn't able to finish the meal as despite being very hungry, the food didn't do it for me.. The Daal tadka was average as well and the sweet rice was decent... As the name suggests, there is no fluff or frills.. just SIMPLY INDIAN! They have a no BS menu with very reasonable prices compared to most other Indian Restaurants. Flavorful and just what you expect. Their spicy is pretty spicy, I mean, I got no spicy and somehow it was still somewhat spicy. Perhaps I'm just weak sauce, but a little bit of spice makes it really great. It is not my favourite Indian restaurant, but for its price and no BS food it really does hit the spot.
