Just finished up an amazing lunch at the Square Lotus, We were seated quickly, waitress and all staff were so kind all around and constantly checking to see if we needed anything else for our amazing lunch. Pho and pho broth were perfect and exactly what we were craving! Shrimp Spring rolls and peanut sauce were fresh and crispy, combination fried rice was made and seasoned to perfection, with a really good amount of veggies and meat! As the staff kindly packed up our amazing lunch for us, I asked if I would be able to take a Thai-Tea to go, We are extremely grateful as it looked like the owner may have ran next door to grab a fresh carton of milk to make it! They were extremely apologetic for the brief wait, but my table was so amazed and appreciative, and it was delicious and made so well. They seem to always have sufficient staff to provide good, quick service unlike many other restaurants that seem to go cheap and not have enough staff. My vegetarian kiddos new favorite place! They have imitation chicken (plant based) with mango which is super delicious. The chicken has lots of flavor and is a good texture, like chicken. Came here with a group of 6 for lunch on Tuesday. We were seated right away and given menus. We got our orders in fairly quickly and also got our food pretty quickly as well. I ordered the pho dac biet and it came with plenty of noodles and meat. The cons of the meal, the bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño were were very little compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. Servers kept coming to our table to keep our waters full but for some reason they kept missing mine so I had no water half way through my meal. That was disappointing being constantly ignored and I was in the middle of the table too. The server also asked as we paid for our bill if we needed any water or anything else and everyone pointed and said I needed water, but the server came back with an empty to go container...I was very confused and continued to be disappointed that once again I didn't get water. I've been coming to Square Lotus for the last 15 years, and it has truly remained a staple in our family's nights out. Their food is delicious, although portions have become less over the years -- I don't blame them though, since as inflation has continued, they have maintained most prices constant. Quality is always on the utmost, with food cleanly prepared (excellent food safety rating) and their ingredients giving utmost flavor. Our family favorites include the Beef Brisket Pho, Vegetable Tofu Soup, Yellow/Red Curry, Lemongrass Tofu Rice Dish, Eggplant Hot Pot, and their Soft Egg Noodles (with fried tofu)! Their Mango Sticky Rice dessert is something you have to try and cannot have a complete experience without! Staff is always right on top of bringing your water, reviewing orders, and will gladly change up ingredients/spice based on your needs. They are all very nice and try their best, so please treat them with respect in turn. My friend was visiting me and so I decided to take her here for dinner since she's primarily vegetarian and Square Lotus is close by to where I live. Square Lotus has a wide selection of offerings- everything from pho to salad to rice & egg noodles, to curries to clay pot catfish. They also have a large section dedicated to just vegetarian dishes and serve tofu and faux meat made from gluten (my dad and I who are not vegetarian would rather have tofu as we find the faux meat tasteless). I ordered the papaya salad ($12) and my friend ordered the crispy egg noodles with fried tofu (1 star (scale of 1-5 spiciness)) ($12.50). I received my food within 10 minutes and she received hers within 15 minutes after ordering. Both dishes were good, but portion sizes were not super big. I was still left a little hungry after eating my papaya salad but her noodle dish wasn't any bigger. Presentation though was on point! I asked for the fish sauce and dressing on the side of my salad because I didn't want it overly saturated which was a good call because they had lightly dressed the salad with a sweet and sour rice vinegarette. Unlike other papaya salads I've had, this salad was not spicy at all and had no chili peppers. Personally I like a little heat to my salad but oh well. My friend enjoyed her crispy noodles and liked the variety of vegetables it came with. Service was prompt and we were seated within a couple of minutes. This is my favorite vegetarian restaurant. I am able to enjoy all of my favorite Vietnamese classics but with alternative protein choices. Hands down, this is the best Vietnamese place in the Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland area. It showed up in my searches as a gluten free restaurant, and it did not disappoint. It's located in a congested shopping center, so parking is a little bit of a pain. Staff are super friendly to greet you, and the place is always busy. As soon as you're seated, a waiter brings you a menu and water. The waiter returns quickly to take your order and answer any questions. I've been there multiple times, and I've never had a problem with a waiter navigating me through the menu to identify dishes that can be prepared gluten free. If the person doesn't know, or isn't sure, the waiter will check and come back. I've ordered the mango chicken, the lemongrass chicken, the fried rice, the eggplant and tofu, and the veggie pho broth with chicken multiple times. The dishes are served hot and so flavorful. The pho is prepared the way it should be, and the serving portions are good! My favorite dish is the mango chicken. It has that perfect balance of sweet and savory.
