    Tuna Crudo

Went to Sottise downtown for an anniversary dinner the other day and had a great experience! This restaurant is small and perfect for an intimate dinner meal. The servers were great and helped suggest a few of their favorite dishes. We loved the Pistachio Pasta dish, the pasta was tossed in a delicious basil pesto and topped with pistachios which added great texture and flavor. I also loved the tuna crudo. I am not typically a capers fan but they paired perfectly with the tuna & shallots, this is a must-order! Everything else was great, especially the baked Brie which we ate before getting a picture.

Love this place! So cute inside and great music. Sat at bar with Allie once again doing us right...started with the HR oysters then Escargot, Caprese Salad finishing with the Bourguignon. Like everything we've ever experienced there knock out fresh and so flavorful.

I finally stopped in at Sottise for date night on October 3rd after passing by so many times, and wow I am so glad we did. We had no idea there was an oyster special, but once we found out, we went for it and ordered 14 (half east coast, half west coast). Each one was super fresh and briny in the best way. I asked our server for her favorite dish, and she said the beet salad--even though, like me, she's not usually a beet person. I just trusted her and went for it. She was so right. The salad was delicious, unlike any beet dish I've ever tried, and genuinely made me rethink beets entirely. We followed that with the steamed mussels, which were perfectly cooked and tender. For our main, we split the Short Rib Bourguignon. The short rib was insanely flavorful and fork-tender, and all the vegetables had soaked up the rich sauce. The vibe in the restaurant is cozy but lively, especially with the DJ spinning music that kept things fun but still intimate enough for conversation. All night I kept thinking, why did I wait so long to check this place out? Already planning my next visit.

Final stop for our anniversary was Sottise! An excellent pick by my partner and I'll tell you why! We were immediately welcomed into the cozy restaurant by our waiter Josiah. He was incredible and super helpful all night! Even though we were accidentally 30min early to our reservation, he was able to accommodate us right away. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and wine list and was an amazing help to us to maximize our experience! You can tell that everyone working here really cares about the craft (: They have a real elaborate vinyl record system that played smooth jazz all night, and the ambiance is brick walls, low lighting, and bistro tables. Very cozy and feels upscale but vibey and intimate! We didn't sit on the patio due to the heat, but I imagine it would be VERY enjoyable in the cooler months. We sampled a ton of items on our visit- Baked Brie, the Jumbo Prawns (beware spicy horseradish cocktail sauce!!), fragrant and herby Pistou Pasta, and our first time try of Escargot! Josiah described it perfectly- earthy, mushroomy texture, subtle flavor with lots of garlic butter! Tastes great with a bite of bread. Apparently their menu rotates seasonally as well which means next time we visit, there will be even more fun pairings to try! Really excellent experience for me and my partner, this house makes for such a romantic little restaurant that I hope everyone gets to try at least once! Thank you so much Josiah and Sottise for making a very special anniversary dinner for us!

We had a great time at Sottise! I absolutely love restaurants in old houses, I think they're so cute and charming and Sottise was exactly that. We were promptly greeted and seated upon walking in and the service remained fast and friendly throughout the night. All the food and drinks were amazing! One of my favorite parts was actually the music. They were playing lovely jazz music at just the right volume and it was a live DJ on a real record player playing the music which was so cool to watch. It's a pricey place but for a nice night out, it's definitely worth it. You'll need to make a reservation if you wan to get in on a weekend night but it's easy to make one on their website.

What a wonderful evening! Such a wonderful dining experience. I tried a French cocktail , a Bilou. Diamond gin, vermouth. & one other ingredient; The FRENCH CÉSAR endive, house caesar, boqerones, sourdough, grana, loved all the anchovies!. Shared the BEEF BOURGUIGNON sweet potato, caramelized onion, gremolata , & Had the two wash chicken special with lemon butter and sage. Yummy. Our dessert was the cannelle with vanilla salted caramel ice cream. Expect to pay $100 pp. Our server was Ashley . Excellent. The tables are small and the bistro chair not real comfortable. Lively Jazz playing. It was just a wonderful time!

I came to Sottise with a friend on a Saturday night expecting as great of a vibe as portrayed online, but was left a little disappointed. As expected, there was a wait, so I left my phone number and name at 7:32pm. I was told the wait is at least 45 minutes, which is expected on a weekend for a restaurant in downtown Phoenix, however I did not get a text update on that time frame, so by 8:50pm I decided to walk in and ask if our table was ready and then we were seated outside almost immediately. While it was quite windy and chilly for a night in April, they provided an outside heater which provided a more comfortable experience while eating and waiting for food. My friend and I decided to order sodas they make in-house, one being their lemon flavor and another being a grapefruit flavor. Both tasted relatively good, mixing both sweet and sour tastes. We wanted to start with the bread. However, they were out of the bread they make, which was surprising as it was a weekend night, so we would've expected that they make enough to match the amount of people they have coming in. They did not offer any alternative except for crackers which we declined. However, when the server actually gave us our dish we ordered, he did offer a different type of bread they carried, so I was left confused as to why our waiter did not decide to offer that as well. The food we ended up ordering was the French onion soup and baked oysters. The soup tasted as if it was just covered in bread and had no salt. The mussels were quite good. We ended the night with an espresso each, which tasted great. If it wasn't for the experience we had with the waiter who seemed as though they did not want to serve us the entire night, we may have had a better experience.

Several people recently have expressed Sottice be added our must try list. The restaurant is a stand alone, refurbished house in downtown Phoenix. It is a unique setting. We sat on the front porch, protected from the sun by a thick, lush hedge. It was fine even though the temperature was above 100. The space is very well done and only needed one item, a piece of fly paper to stop the pesky flies. The wait staff was spot on with the service, recommendations, describing dishes and giving us ampul times between services. We ordered the deviled eggs with crispy pork, capers and cornishon tampanade. They were delicious. The roasted beets with brown butter almonds, dill, lemon and horseradish were a true homerun with a great flavor profile and taste. The steamed mussels were served in a fumet, creame fraich and garlic. The broth had just the right amount of spice and a great taste. I do wish a piece of grilled bread had been included to help me enjoy the savory broth. Our final entree was the short rib bourguignon with root veggies, jus and horseradish. It was very flavorful. Overall, Sottise is a nice restaurant with a good vibe and delicious food. The music is a bit loud and the flies were pesky but that can be changed. The food and wait staff are exceptional. If you are in downtown Phoenix and looking for a unique dining experience, give Sottise a try. They will not disappoint.

Sottise shows why dining here feels like stepping into a small brasserie in France. Housed in a restored downtown Phoenix bungalow, the space blends intimacy and charm -- flickering candles, exposed brick, and shelves lined with French wine. Vintage records spin on a turntable, adding warmth and nostalgia, as though you've stepped into someone's living room. It's no surprise it was named Best French Restaurant 2024 by Phoenix New Times. For lovers of French food, Sottise delivers tradition, richness, and warmth with a light hand. The evening began with oysters and champagne -- a pairing as timeless as Paris itself. The briny chill of the oyster meets the crisp effervescence of the wine in perfect harmony. One standout version, oysters crowned with steak tartare, pairs chilled shellfish with delicately seasoned hand-cut beef, indulgent yet refreshing. Escargot de Bourgogne arrives bubbling in garlic butter and parsley, the sauce alone worth sopping up with bread. The French onion soup gratinée is classic: deeply caramelized broth capped with molten cheese that stretches with each spoonful. The roasted beets with brown-buttered almonds, horseradish crema, and dill bring an earthy, sharp contrast. The handmade pasta with lemon beurre, English peas, pistachio, sourdough breadcrumbs, and chive blossoms is bright, nutty, and textural -- a spring garden on a plate. Together, these dishes tell a story of brasserie classics given space to breathe in the desert. Whether it's oysters with champagne, bubbling gratin, or bread and butter, Sottise captures the romance of Paris without leaving Phoenix. For those who love French dining, this is the one restaurant you shouldn't miss.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but our experience at this French restaurant was frustrating enough that I think it's worth sharing. From the beginning, the service felt off. Our server didn't greet us, didn't smile, and generally gave off the impression that he didn't want to be there. Throughout the meal, we had to ask multiple times just to get our water glasses refilled, and when it finally happened, it felt like we were inconveniencing him. I get that restaurants can get busy, but this didn't feel like stress--it felt like indifference. As for the food, some dishes were good, but the low points were really low. I started with the French onion soup, which is honestly one of my favorite things to eat. It looked amazing--golden cheese, toasted bread, rich-looking broth--but the flavor was a complete letdown. It was so bitter it was almost shocking. Not just lacking in depth or salt, but actually scorched. Like the onions had been burned and no one noticed--or worse, no one cared. I couldn't eat it. Next was the beef bourguignon, which I'd also been excited about. Unfortunately, it was way oversalted. Every bite was a struggle. We even mentioned it to our server, hoping there might be some kind of acknowledgment or offer to fix it--but he just shrugged and moved on. No apology, no replacement, nothing. That said, not everything was bad. The deviled eggs were genuinely excellent--creamy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned. The baguette was fresh and had a great crust. And the cocktails were a highlight--really well balanced and thoughtfully made. Clearly, someone in the kitchen or behind the bar knows what they're doing. But a few good bites don't make up for the overall experience, which just felt cold and careless. And for a dinner that cost over $150, it's not unreasonable to expect more--better service, more consistency, and food that's actually edible. My husband and chose this place for our 3rd wedding anniversary, and we won't be returning. There are plenty of restaurants in town that know how to treat guests well and serve great food. This just wasn't one of them.

I've been waiting to come to this place since it opened but just haven't been able to come tell now. Love the cute house that the restaurant is in, very nicely decorated. The food was all perfect. I will start by saying the tortellini was absolutely amazing, tasted like a dessert. The deviled eggs were perfect. Loved the bread and cheese. The croque madame was perfect. And the drink I got which I don't know the name of but it was a fun name with pineapple Mousse on top was amazing. Definitely will be back to try more.

First, the ambiance is amazing! Feel like you are eating at someone's home! There was a big vinyl collection and I believe you can request the music if you want. Second, the service is impeccable! The waiters were super friendly and helpful with recommendations! We entirely trusted them and all the dishes were delicious! Now going to food - although we weren't fans of beets but all the ingredients in the beets salad went so well together. Pesto pasta was also a highlight, which was super refreshing and had a slight nutty taste. Overall all the ingredients were really fresh and you don't feel heavy after eating all kinds of cheese and butter. This is a really impressive experience!

The cozy, intimate comfort of what used to be Coup des Tartes blended seamlessly with the deep, peaceful, gentle "love" you felt from House of Tricks into one calm, warm, easy spot. Farish House is a real, soul-warming experience across the board. The service, care, comfort, ambience, food, value and clear love they put into everything make Farish House our new favorite place. We walked through the front gate, up onto the front porch and inside where we took one of three small tables in the cozy front salon of this soul-warming 1899 French Bistro. *Food: we started with a bottle of Australian Cab. Shockingly good. And not crazy expensive, especially on Thursday when bottles are 30% off, it was an amazing deal. Turns out, the owner, Greg, was in the wine distribution business for several decades, curating wine programs for top Valley restaurants, so he really knows his stuff and their vast wine selection is amazing. We were offered a basket of truffle popcorn, mmm, salty, crunchy, and rich. We ordered the Chef's Selection Charcuterie and Warm Noble Baguette & Marinated Olives to get started. Both were beautifully curated, balanced, and incredibly high quality. The flavors and textures blended perfectly. with cheeses broken from large wheels, rather than cut and sliced, house-made pickled grapes, unique and unusual ingredients, smokey meats, compound butters, just awesome! We then moved into one of the cozy dining rooms and ordered the slow roasted Peposo Short Ribs and fingerling potatoes pan fried in duck fat served with Moroccan spiced aioli. Both were rich, warm and delicious. For dessert, and yes we thought we'd explode from all this food, we ordered a massive slice of bread pudding, some of the best I've ever had, rich, gooey and incredible. Along with that we ordered a beautiful Espresso Martini and an off-menu banana cream martini. Their drinks are not "poured" or mixed here, they're balanced and expertly crafted. This is French Bistro comfort food at its finest and it's unmistakeable. *Service: it just doesn't get better. Everyone working there is "family". And that's how they make you feel; like family, cared for, wanted, welcomed. Service isn't a choreographed masterpiece, no tuxedos, cloths draped over arms, napkins frantically re-folded when you step away, dishes served and cleared in unison. No, it's relaxed, warm, friendly, kind, like being at your grandmothers house and knowing you're surrounded by people who care. Met Greg and Katherine, the owners, and their daughter Alexandra and several other "family" members taking care of us. Their appreciation for your presence is unmistakable. *Ambience: it's just plain comfy, cozy, easy, relaxed, warm, deep, gentle, worn (in a good way), wise, and calm, that's the best I can describe it. Hard wood floors, cozy rooms, soft, warm lighting. It's a non-pretentious, French bistro that feels like the home of a favorite grandma or great aunt living in a warm family cottage in the outskirts of Paris. *Value: it's perfect. It's not ridiculously expensive like Kai, Brinkley's, Cafe Monarch, Christopher's, or French Laundry where you go, "okay, that was fun but we'll only do this very occasionally/rarely and it's probably worth it, but dang that was pricey!" No, Farish House is 100% value to experience, not cheap, but not overpriced, the balance is just right. It's a place you can go often, and we will. Yes, our meal with apps, drinks and dessert, some on happy hour and the Thursday wine special, was around $200. I'd happily say this experience was worth every penny. *Overall: I can't recommend Farish House highly enough. Parking is on the street or in a nearby lot, and that's a downtown thing. There's a small lot in back. The food, ambience, service, quality, and experience were stellar. I wish I could rate them 6 stars instead of just 5. I'll return often and highly recommend Farish House to everyone. I genuinely hope you enjoy as much as we did!

We arrived just around dusk and since the weather was beautiful, we got a table on the patio. There is such a contrast of two vintage homes, one being the Farish House in a sea of highrise buildings in downtown Phoenix! If you like a restaurant with a great wine selection, this is your place. I was lucky enough to have both of the owners (Kathryn and Greg) come by and greet us. This bottle (pictured below) of Pinot Noir was suggested to us, and we decided to have with our meals since our chosen dishes were beef and pork. One of the best wines I have had recently. We had the stuffed date appetizers which were devoured so quickly I did not have a chance to snap a pho My friend chose the beef short rib dish, which was well presented and extremely flavorful. After carefully reading each item, it was very hard to make a choice. I ended up with the pork chop meal, see cauliflower/potato mash, asparagus, and the awesome sauce along with the perfectly cooked pork chop made my taste buds very happy! We had service by Ella who is fabulous and also got to meet the owners daughter Alexandria. But there's more! After much deliberation and compromise, we both decided to share the bread pudding. I have been to New Orleans many times where they make fantastic bread pudding. The Farish House bread pudding can stand up to the best of the bread pudding in New Orleans and that is saying a lot. If you are a foodie and like local family owned businesses, this is your spot. Since I am only visiting, I will not be here for their Saturday Tea Service! Thank you so much for providing me with another wonderfu and delicious memory of my Phoenix visit. As Arnold Schwarzenegger says "I'll be back!" Bob, the Farish House cat ‍ was a delightful "host" as well.

Noelle manages and buys for the business and Duc does all the cooking and baking. With Noelle spending 15 years residing in Paris, and Duc over 30 you can see their passion for French cuisine. My friend loved her lobster salad sandwich accompanied by a spring mix. I loved the French vinaigrette that came with my salad! It was lip smacking! I wish I could buy some to take home. (I did not. I ordered a full breakfast and a waffle like an adult with priorities.) I went around 9:15am on a Wednesday--only a few tables were occupied, and the staff was super friendly, gave great recommendations, and the food came out fast. Inside is dialed in with chandeliers, French-y posters and photos everywhere, and a pastry case with tarts, pastries, and cheesecake that basically dares you to behave. The croissant was the star... fresh, flaky, light, buttery... exactly what you want. The egg was cooked perfectly and the cheese was melted into it almost like a mini omelette (loved that). My only hiccup was the "bacon." It leaned more limp pork belly than crispy bacon and had a distinct smoke flavor that wasn't the traditional hardwood/hickory vibe I'm used to. Also... because the cheese and egg are fused together, it's basically impossible to pick the bacon out once it's in there. Next time I'd order it without bacon or ask for it on the side and make it crispy. It came with a side salad, which is not what I expected with breakfast, but it was actually great, fresh spring mix and a delicious dressing with a subtle sweet undertone. There were also hash browns with a crispy exterior and soft, warm interior, exactly the texture you hope for I just wish there were more of them! Because I have no self-control around French cafes, I also ordered the Belgian waffle with fruit and whipped cream. The waffle was warm and tasty, more tender/soft than crispy, and I ended up preferring it to the 'scrape the roof of your mouth' style that most restaurants serve up. The whipped cream tasted freshly whipped and the fruit selection was generous. My only critique: I'd skip the granulated sugar on top. The waffle is sweet enough already, and biting into sugar crystals isn't my favorite texture. For a drink I tried the blueberry lavender matcha. It had crushed blueberries in it, but the matcha flavor was pretty mild and the lavender got lost. I also would've liked a touch more sweetness from the syrup but overall it drank a bit "soft" and subtle. Bottom line... really cool little spot with friendly service, quick food, and a pastry case that will absolutely ruin any plan you had to "just eat light." I'll be back but next time I'm customizing that croissant sandwich and letting the pastries talk me into bad decisions.

This outstanding Bistro delivers superb hospitality, and exquisite food in a lovely setting. The hosts could not have been more gracious and kind in their hospitality. Everything was so refined yet casual and delightful and incredibly delicious. Their lovely patio on a day like today couldn't be better for our extraordinary dinner for our birthday celebration. I myself had the smoked salmon and goat cheese salad. Some of the very best smoked salmon I've ever had to be honest, followed by their seafood choucroute. The pace of the meal was perfect. Everybody enjoyed their meal in our party of seven. The dessert were equally superb in taste and presentation. Once again our most sincere thanks and hope to see you again very soon!

That's rare in Scottsdale restaurants. Very civilized place where you can have a conversation without shouting. And you can speak French here and they will understand you. They are actually French people. The food was great. We had sole muniere and another all-seafood dish. It tasted good and it was the right amount of food. We had a Manhattan and a Sancerre wine - both excellent. The service was good. I liked that they had condiments right there at the table. In too many restaurants now, you have to request salt. Not here. I highly recommend Voila. (It is not cheap but you can afford it, right?)

We recently enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the patio by the fountain, and the ambiance was absolutely perfect, relaxed and charming. We shared a cheese board, mussels, Zinc's house fries, and a crisp white wine, everything was delicious. We didn't feel rushed at all, which made it the perfect "lazy lunch" experience. Every time we come in the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. We always book a couple of weeks in advance to secure our favorite corner booth which offers privacy and a great view of the Eiffel Tower. Aside from the great service and romantic ambiance, Zinc's food is superb! Admittedly, we have our favorites and we always start with a dozen Oysters and usually go with the server's recommendation. This time we added a caviar bump, which took this delectable appetizer to another level. For our main course, we both prefer a filet with the au poivre sauce and seared foie gras. For dessert, we indulged in the chocolate souffle. This is without a doubt one of our favorite meals and something we look forward to every year.

Service includes petit croissants that were warmed just right, there is a decent wine list. Not too cramped, touches of French country styling for the ambience. We ordered the boeuf borguignon, steak frites and a salad of tomatoes and mozzarella. The steak, though sliced thinner than the usual chunk, came as ordered at medium well with ample au poivre sauce and well seasoned fries. The boeuf borg was fork tender, a little heavy on the wine but perfect nonetheless. All dishes were perfect in terms of portions (not too small), the finesse and the flavor profiles tempered just right. After 6 hours of driving from LA to Phoenix and another 2 hours looking at houses, this was the perfect early dinner. The service was professionally pleasant and unobtrusive. To top it all, we declined dessert but they sent us complementary pots de crème and a small slice of cake and it was excellent. One must go, and more often. If I had time I would go for another meal of foies gras and coq au vin and a side of trout. And then there's still the restaurant to try. Oh my.

It would have been nice if our server had mentioned the price of the Dover dole on the specials menu. While we knew it would be expensive, $70 (before tax and tip) seems a little high for eating in a bistro. The room looked very dated and plain, but, as I said, the food was excellent. At the same time, I don't think it's a very good value for the money. A couple of glasses of wine and two entrées were over $300 with tax and tip. Pricey, to be overlooking a parking lot! We won't be going back to the Bistro.

My husband and I had this on our list for the longest time and I wish we would have come sooner. The tasting menu with wine pairing is the way to go. The pacing is completely to you and I found a lot of comfort in courses coming out once we were ready - it didn't feel rushed! All the food was beautifully plated and flavor profiles with textures were through the roof! It was a beautiful blend of seasonal flavors! The wine selection was also a wow-factor and complemented the courses nicely. The views were incredible at sunset and I loved how the setting sun changed the landscape of the valley. The bathroom is a must go to. The service was also incredible - Bryan was a phenomenal complement to the restaurant and Chef Chris. I loved how this fine dining establishment was not stuffy or stiff. I felt I could talk to each employee authentically! Highly recommend!

The view and lighting at night are so beautiful, even the ladies room is stunning. The interior is modern with the most unique tables I have ever seen. There is no silverware visible on the table, only a lovely plate. Mystery solved... Each diner has their own silverware drawer!!! Talk about differentiating themselves from any other restaurant. On to the gourmet meal... We had a 7 course meal accompanied by wine, matched with each course. Indescribably delicious. One of the most scrumptious meals of our life. Their very pleasant and engaging Chef personally came out to meet us, and give us his thoughts on creating the 7 course meal du jour which we were enjoying. The Sommelier was also one of the most interesting, knowledgeable, memorable and delightful wine experts we have experienced. She shared her travels and reasons for choosing the accompanying wines. This eating establishment is a whole different level. Excellence or Perfection is the only question. I am leaning towards Perfection.
