The restaurant's parking lot is the size of a postage stamp and its almost impossible to get a spot. That's how the night started... I was pissed and angry!! I eventually parked a half-hour later and we got inside. The restaurant is small, but quaint. Kira, our server, made numerous recommendations, which we followed. The service was EXCELLENT and the food WAS BETTER THAN EXCELLENT!! What started as a pissed off evening ended in a WONDERFUL NIGHT of food and drink. Overall, the trip was well worth the rocky start!! read more

It's a cute little place. The service was really awesome. after we were eating and having drinks, a couple came in and the woman had incredibly strong smelling perfume on - just totally overpowered the whole end of the restaurant where we were sitting. The servers kindly moved us to a table on the far side of the room. That was really helpful. The food was ok. Creative dishes, but they were a bit bland generally speaking. The squash salad is a fabulous idea for a fresh salad that is different - but if they'd added some olive oil & lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt, it would have been great. It was a bit dry and not well dressed. Octopus salad was the same - I really wanted to like it, and I took half home (just because I was full) when I added olive oil and lemon juice and Salt & pepper, it was great. The meatballs were pretty flavorful. It's called a Wine Bar, but there was not a big selection of wines by the glass. Part of what makes a wine bar fun, is having a lot of choices, and perhaps a flight or two. They did have a few unusual wines. But there are so many wine bars (or restaurants with really good wine programs), you're going to have to expand your selection a bit to compete. read more

This feels like a neighborhood restaurant, small and intimate! Love their ambiance. The food portion was definitely on the smaller side, which was perfect for sharing. I was so happy with all the dishes I ordered! Each one had its unique character - bold but balanced. Also, you have to order their wine! They have a great selection that you can barely see somewhere else. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Arizona, hands down. When in doubt, just go to kid sister. When they posted the menu for this season, we immediately booked a reservation (and will definitely be back for seconds soon). The clafoutis is one of my favorite desserts they've had so far, which is truly saying something, as every dessert they've had on the menu since opening has been a plus for me. It was very busy this Saturday (woohoo! Congrats on all your successes it is truly well deserved) so I definitely recommend reservations! I can never say enough about the amazing crew at kid sister, it feels like going to visit friends, and the service is always consistent (perfect). The intimate dining room, lovely chatter, and sweet staff top off how amazing this place is. If you haven't already, you have to go try kid sister. See you guys next time, we are already talking about it!! read more

I dipped into Kid Sister's because I really wanted a good glass of wine and I knew I would get it here. I tried a very interesting German Rose and then a chilled red. I don't normally like my red wine chilled but this worked so well!! I also got some crackers and cheese to complement my wine. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. I love the half circle bar and although it is small it doesn't feel cramped at all. Only negative is the bar stools are narrow and uncomfortable after a while. The prices are high but the quality is worth it. read more

We went to Kid Sister mainly for the food (we're not wine drinkers) and left extremely happy. The menu has a pan-European feel, with dishes that pull from different regions in a way that feels thoughtful and unfussy. We ordered several plates from the winter menu to share. Honestly, everything stood on its own without needing wine. The carrot dip, paired with a great selection of vegetables, was a refreshing way to start. As someone who loves sweet potatoes, the sweet potato with green harissa is a must-order. We'd never had chips with serrano ham before, but they were surprisingly addictive and disappeared fast. The highlights of the meal were the duck breast and the pissaladière (puff pastry with anchovies). The duck was tender and flavorful, and the pissaladière was a standout. Who knew anchovies on pastry could be that good? We ended with the ricotta cake with poached pears, which was light and not overly sweet. It reminded me more of European or Asian cheesecake than the dense, sugary American style. The ambiance is chic and thoughtful, with great use of color. Loved the details, from the tiles to the furniture to the typography. Service was excellent, and it felt like the founding team was actively running the place. The menu changes seasonally, which gives us a good reason to come back! read more

I might be a little biased because I'm European. Also, they happened to be playing a film set in the same countryside region of France I'm from when I walked in, which tugged at my heartstrings. I had such a lovely experience at this charming little wine bar. It's perfectly cozy, stylish without being pretentious, and charmingly nostalgic with old black-and-white films flickering in the background. They have a small menu with various offerings of wine and cocktails, light bites, small plates, and dessert. They can recommend pairings if needed. The wine was great (had the tempranillo), and the sourdough and butter were excellent. I'm looking forward to coming back to try some of their actual dishes next time. Service was thoughtful and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. I went on a Thursday evening and it was pleasantly busy without being packed, and the noise level made it easy to hold a conversation (a rarity these days.) All in all, it's the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer than you planned, and come back sooner than you expected! read more

Made a reservation at 6:30 on a Sunday. The parking lot was full so we street parked the next street over and there was plenty of parking. We got offered still or sparkling when we sat down. We ordered orange wine, orange soda, and three food dishes. They had a $25 burger and wine deal, but decided to try the other foods instead. The wine was excellent especially for someone who is not a huge drinker. We got the pretzel which was good but not incredible. I'm not sure why they had the spring 2025 menu underneath it. Then we got the squash salad which was super refreshing. Our server told us the orange soda got lost so it came out a bit later. But when it did, there was a bug in it! We told our server and they brought us a new one 10 minutes later but it seemed like there was less and they filled up the cup with a ton of ice. We got the meatballs which was delicious and filled us up. Afterwards, we paid for our meal which was around 85 with tip. The only odd thing was that there was no interaction at the end, just left our card and bill at the table without saying a word. They have a rotating menu so we'll be back to try more food, and maybe come back for HH. read more

Dare I say... the best opening of 2024. To be honest, it's not even a close race in my eyes. I feel lucky to live in Phoenix while we're getting to experience service and quality to a Michelin level without the pretension or California prices. It's not cheap here, but it's worth it. This is my new go-to fancy spot. Service is amazing, with tastes available for all by-the-glass wines. Staff are personable and knowledgeable about the wines without being snooty or making you feel uneducated. They have a wide range of bottles and a smaller (but diverse) selection of wines by the glass. For a wine bar, their food is a stand out. The menu is relatively small and rotates seasonally. I've never had anything less than excellent. We almost always get a crudo, and I love saving room for dessert. It's a great spot for a date or double date, with small plates to share with the table. Their NYE prix fixe was fantastic, with one of my favorite pairings I've had in recent memory. I can't recommend this place more highly for a special occasion (or just celebrating everyday life, if you're bougie like that). read more

This is SUCH a cool tucked away gem off of 7th street. The wine bar is absolutely beautiful with instagrammable decoration and an old time movie playing in the background. Such a great spot to sit and catchup with a friend. I didn't love the orange wine but I would be interested to try the other wines here. My friend enjoyed her red wine thoroughly. Would also recommend the marinated olives but I wish they came with crackers or something else! read more

If I could give Kid Sister more than 5 stars, I would! From the moment you walk in, this wine bar feels like a hidden gem tucked right into the heart of Phoenix. The space is cozy but stylish -- warm lighting, desert-modern décor, and that perfect buzz of conversation that lets you know you're somewhere special. The wine list is so well curated. They focus on interesting, small producers and natural wines, but the staff makes it easy for anyone to enjoy -- whether you're a casual sipper or a full-on wine nerd. I loved that they offered tastes before committing to a glass and really took the time to explain the story behind each wine. The food is next-level too. Every dish feels carefully crafted -- from the Parisian gnocchi and pan con tomate to the branzino with white beans (my personal favorite). The portions are ideal for sharing, and everything pairs beautifully with the wine list. Service is a 10/10. Everyone was welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can tell the team loves being there, and that energy makes the experience even better. Perfect for: date night, catching up with friends, or winding down after a long day. It's relaxed, elevated, and totally worth the visit. I'll definitely be back -- Kid Sister just became one of my go-to spots in Phoenix for a classy, delicious night out. read more

Kid Sister A Wine Bar - Meal - Wine Bars Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Mille-feuille (pronounced mil-foy) was the reason why I visited Kid Sister. It's a rare dessert for a Phoenix restaurant to have on the menu. A French dessert made of puff pastry and pastry cream, it's light, airy, delicate that's perfect for warm weather. I also had boquerones (marinaded anchovies) and the bomba rice. Both are equally exceptional. This was a memorable meal. read more

Kid Sister is a wonderful wine bar with fantastic, thoughtful food that offers a fully curated experience. The environment is cosy and sophisticated with black and white films playing in the background. I stopped in solo for dinner and left full and happy. At my server's suggestion I had the sweet potatoes to start. The star of this dish was the marinated feta. I could have had a plate of just that covered in the green harissa. The sweet potatoes themselves didn't do much- this dish probably would have been even more delightful if they were replaced by a roasted carrot. Nonetheless, the combination made me clear the plate. Next up was the linguica. The sausage was well spiced and clearly made with care. Here, I took a little issue with the white beans. Restaurants do tend to do beans a bit al dente and I personally want them to be well cooked and creamy. We'll just call this a style preference. In terms of wines I had a lovely Italian white, but wasn't enthusiastic about any of the reds by the glass ( and my terrific server let me try them all!). All this to say, I loved my experience but nothing I had reached the level of sheer delight I want at this price point. Still, the menu rotates often and this spot would be more than worth another try when I'm in PHX again. read more

Wow, did these guys exceed expectations! We were downtown for a cocktail-and-schmooze thing and decided to grab a bite afterward. The first restaurant we stopped at was unexpectedly closed, and this was within walking distance. Yes, the menu is small, but everything we ordered was delicious. We sat at the bar and received great service from the bartender. Killer wine options and great banter. The crudo was especially delightful. I was a little apprehensive about a new place with a tiny menu that you can't view online ahead of time, but I wholeheartedly recommend Kid Sister and we will definitely be back. read more

Came here for a girls night and had such a lovely experience! The wine selection was great, and I always love a small, curated seasonal menu. We ordered almost everything--skipped only the oeuf mayonnaise and pork collar. The food overall was great (not mind-blowing, but definitely enjoyable). The focaccia was my least favorite--more dense than the fluffy kind I usually go for--but the tuna crudo, gem salad, and tomato tarte were all standouts! The profiteroles were hands-down the best part of the night. Service was friendly and attentive, and surprisingly, it wasn't too crowded for a Friday night. Second time coming here and both have been amazing. Spring menu this time. Our party of four got everything almost everything on the menu and it was the perfect amount of food. Bread and anchovies was delicious! Turnips were great. Scallop ceviche was absolutely amazing! Pork collar, Duck and Branzino were all just so tasty, it would be hard to pick a favorite. came here with my parents on a sunday night and it was soooo quiet and lovely; it was the perfect atmosphere for the vibes me and my parents were going for. our server was extremely kind and patient, letting my mom try a couple different wines before deciding on her glass for the night. i saw on instagram that they had just introduced their new spring menu and was too enticed to miss out. we ordered the chips & serrano ham, boquerones, snap pea salad, trout rilletes, mushrooms al ajillo, bomba rice, and mille-feuille. (we wanted to order everything but ultimately figured it'd be too much). everything was done soooo simply yet it had so much flavor! each ingredient really shined through in each dish and was put their was intention. my parents and i were all blown away by the mushrooms al ajillo in particular! The ambiance and service were great, but the food didn't quite meet my expectations. The scallops were chewy and seemed undercooked, with a sauce that tasted more like mayo than anything else. The sausage plate was okay -- the sausages were good, but the pairings lacked seasoning and creativity. Dessert had a nice cheesecake texture, but the flavor could've been enhanced more, it felt like it had been sitting out for a while. Overall, the place has potential, but the dishes could use more flavor and freshness. read more

Made reservations after seeing this on Tik Tok for 7pm on a Monday, and I'm glad I did! There is a small parking lot, but we had to street park and walk over as it was full. It's a smaller space so I think reservations for sure. Upon walking in loved the atmosphere. Very minimal but colorful decor - very trendy. The space is kind of tight and pretty loud so be prepared to kind of yell. There is a highly coveted lounge area with like a couch in addition to bar, table, and booth seating. The staff was top tier very attentive and knowledgeable. I'm not a big wine person and they walked me through the menu. I ordered Pan Con Tomate with optional Anchovies, a white wine, a kalimoxto, and a spritz. Everything was great . The only downside is the price of the food. The pan con tomate was $10 for essentially 2 pieces of bread which to be fair I really liked. However, I just find it hard to justify that price even if ingredients are quality or locally sourced. You could legit eat both pieces in 2 bites each. Also the tomato in my opinion seemed not that fresh possibly even canned? The bread was top tier though, and the Anchovies were great. Multiple people checked up on my table throughout the meal and everyone was fantastic though besides that. read more

What a great experience! We made a reservation for 2 at the bar and were seated promptly. To our delight, the lady running the bar, Courtney, was an acquaintance of ours from another place, and is a great person to be handling things. We started with a Mother Road beer for me and a glass of Piquette for my wife. Perfect! We then split an order of the Oeuf Mayonnaise and focaccia with anchovies followed by a squash risotto and Pork Poivre which were delicious. Courtney selected a bottle of red wine for us, which paired perfectly with our food. We split a chocolate Cremeux and gelato with port for dessert. Exterior was simple and cute, made me feel like I was in LA. Interior was aesthetic as well, very colorful and quirky. It's a pretty small and cozy space that would be perfect for girl groups. Our server was very nice and helpful, she let us sample wine before committing to one. I'm not a big drinker but I really enjoyed the kalimoxto and the spritz. They were very light drinks, couldn't really taste the alcohol. The spritz was the perfect balance of sweet, bitter, and fresh. I normally hate red wine the kalimoxto (Mexican coke and red wine) was really good, kind of tasted like grape juice. We ordered the pan con tomate with anchovies to snack on, which I was kind of disappointed by. The tomato tasted kind of dull and it was pretty expensive for two pieces of bread. Overall, I really loved the vibe and the drinks. I didn't try too much of the food so I don't think I can say too much on that, but I would come back for the atmosphere. This is a really cute little wine bar in central Phoenix, and the ambiance is really cozy and inviting. The vibe is cool, and it's a really chill, romantic setting. Our server was also really sweet and helpful. Where it went wrong were the prices for the portions of wine/food that you got. So I will start by saying the food is actually very good, and I was impressed with the taste of the dishes we got. But do NOT come here hungry. First, the glasses of wine are around $17-20, and the pours are literally the size of a tasting. So two glasses of wine equals a real full one. That was disappointing. For food, we ordered the leeks ($18) and mussels ($25). Both were incredible, but the leeks dish was TINY af - and there were only 7 mussels!!! The food was great, but sad to say after a $130 bill, we still ended up at jack in the box after and went home and opened a bottle of wine because we were still starving. read more
