Was really excited to try this place but was honestly pretty disappointed with my whole dining experience. We ordered two entrees which was the Le canard and the pistou pasta. Was honestly pretty upset with the Le canard as it was pretty expensive (43 dollars) and was only served 3 small pieces with nothing else. I also don't usually eat big portions so the fact it was so small for an entree and expensive was a bit disappointing. Our server was also okay, but overall the dining experience was upsetting especially for the price. The interior of the restaurant however is stunning. Will also note I would have liked to try the oysters, and it could be the starters are better to order.

Enjoyed an incredible meal here for a moms night out. Beautiful house and enchanting outdoor space. Lovely ambiance overall. Outdoor tables could be a little more robust for bigger humans. Our service was wonderful, kind and patient staff. We tried a variety of dishes to share family style, all were great in their own ways. The cocktails were also tasty. The Baked Brie and honeynut Squash were the most memorable for me. Must order!

Went to Sottise downtown for an anniversary dinner the other day and had a great experience! This restaurant is small and perfect for an intimate dinner meal. The servers were great and helped suggest a few of their favorite dishes. We loved the Pistachio Pasta dish, the pasta was tossed in a delicious basil pesto and topped with pistachios which added great texture and flavor. I also loved the tuna crudo. I am not typically a capers fan but they paired perfectly with the tuna & shallots, this is a must-order! Everything else was great, especially the baked Brie which we ate before getting a picture.

Such a cute dinning concept here! Came here for Date night and it did not disappoint! The little gem salad was so delicious! The drinks were great! Love love! Will be back for sure!

I finally stopped in at Sottise for date night on October 3rd after passing by so many times, and wow I am so glad we did. We had no idea there was an oyster special, but once we found out, we went for it and ordered 14 (half east coast, half west coast). Each one was super fresh and briny in the best way. I asked our server for her favorite dish, and she said the beet salad--even though, like me, she's not usually a beet person. I just trusted her and went for it. She was so right. The salad was delicious, unlike any beet dish I've ever tried, and genuinely made me rethink beets entirely. We followed that with the steamed mussels, which were perfectly cooked and tender. For our main, we split the Short Rib Bourguignon. The short rib was insanely flavorful and fork-tender, and all the vegetables had soaked up the rich sauce. The vibe in the restaurant is cozy but lively, especially with the DJ spinning music that kept things fun but still intimate enough for conversation. All night I kept thinking, why did I wait so long to check this place out? Already planning my next visit.

Final stop for our anniversary was Sottise! An excellent pick by my partner and I'll tell you why! We were immediately welcomed into the cozy restaurant by our waiter Josiah. He was incredible and super helpful all night! Even though we were accidentally 30min early to our reservation, he was able to accommodate us right away. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and wine list and was an amazing help to us to maximize our experience! You can tell that everyone working here really cares about the craft (: They have a real elaborate vinyl record system that played smooth jazz all night, and the ambiance is brick walls, low lighting, and bistro tables. Very cozy and feels upscale but vibey and intimate! We didn't sit on the patio due to the heat, but I imagine it would be VERY enjoyable in the cooler months. We sampled a ton of items on our visit- Baked Brie, the Jumbo Prawns (beware spicy horseradish cocktail sauce!!), fragrant and herby Pistou Pasta, and our first time try of Escargot! Josiah described it perfectly- earthy, mushroomy texture, subtle flavor with lots of garlic butter! Tastes great with a bite of bread. Apparently their menu rotates seasonally as well which means next time we visit, there will be even more fun pairings to try! Really excellent experience for me and my partner, this house makes for such a romantic little restaurant that I hope everyone gets to try at least once! Thank you so much Josiah and Sottise for making a very special anniversary dinner for us!

Happy hour is a great deal for oysters! They are $2 each and are fresh and plated nicely. It is a smaller restaurant with around 5 tables inside and some outdoor seating which makes the vibe a lot more homey and personalized. Service was great.

We had a great time at Sottise! I absolutely love restaurants in old houses, I think they're so cute and charming and Sottise was exactly that. We were promptly greeted and seated upon walking in and the service remained fast and friendly throughout the night. All the food and drinks were amazing! One of my favorite parts was actually the music. They were playing lovely jazz music at just the right volume and it was a live DJ on a real record player playing the music which was so cool to watch. It's a pricey place but for a nice night out, it's definitely worth it. You'll need to make a reservation if you wan to get in on a weekend night but it's easy to make one on their website.

I came to Sottise with a friend on a Saturday night expecting as great of a vibe as portrayed online, but was left a little disappointed. As expected, there was a wait, so I left my phone number and name at 7:32pm. I was told the wait is at least 45 minutes, which is expected on a weekend for a restaurant in downtown Phoenix, however I did not get a text update on that time frame, so by 8:50pm I decided to walk in and ask if our table was ready and then we were seated outside almost immediately. While it was quite windy and chilly for a night in April, they provided an outside heater which provided a more comfortable experience while eating and waiting for food. My friend and I decided to order sodas they make in-house, one being their lemon flavor and another being a grapefruit flavor. Both tasted relatively good, mixing both sweet and sour tastes. We wanted to start with the bread. However, they were out of the bread they make, which was surprising as it was a weekend night, so we would've expected that they make enough to match the amount of people they have coming in. They did not offer any alternative except for crackers which we declined. However, when the server actually gave us our dish we ordered, he did offer a different type of bread they carried, so I was left confused as to why our waiter did not decide to offer that as well. The food we ended up ordering was the French onion soup and baked oysters. The soup tasted as if it was just covered in bread and had no salt. The mussels were quite good. We ended the night with an espresso each, which tasted great. If it wasn't for the experience we had with the waiter who seemed as though they did not want to serve us the entire night, we may have had a better experience.

Love this place! So cute inside and great music. Sat at bar with Allie once again doing us right...started with the HR oysters then Escargot, Caprese Salad finishing with the Bourguignon. Like everything we've ever experienced there knock out fresh and so flavorful.

    Roasted beets, a must try

Several people recently have expressed Sottice be added our must try list. The restaurant is a stand alone, refurbished house in downtown Phoenix. It is a unique setting. We sat on the front porch, protected from the sun by a thick, lush hedge. It was fine even though the temperature was above 100. The space is very well done and only needed one item, a piece of fly paper to stop the pesky flies. The wait staff was spot on with the service, recommendations, describing dishes and giving us ampul times between services. We ordered the deviled eggs with crispy pork, capers and cornishon tampanade. They were delicious. The roasted beets with brown butter almonds, dill, lemon and horseradish were a true homerun with a great flavor profile and taste. The steamed mussels were served in a fumet, creame fraich and garlic. The broth had just the right amount of spice and a great taste. I do wish a piece of grilled bread had been included to help me enjoy the savory broth. Our final entree was the short rib bourguignon with root veggies, jus and horseradish. It was very flavorful. Overall, Sottise is a nice restaurant with a good vibe and delicious food. The music is a bit loud and the flies were pesky but that can be changed. The food and wait staff are exceptional. If you are in downtown Phoenix and looking for a unique dining experience, give Sottise a try. They will not disappoint.

What made the dinner that much better was their $35 steak frites special. I have nothing but positive things to say. The restaurant itself is beautiful! I always love open kitchen concepts because seeing the chefs in action is always amazing. It felt very moody and romantic with the candlelight dinner, dim lighting and dark colors. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth perfection and I upgraded to the truffle fries, which I do not regret one bit. The one thing I do regret is not eating more of them, considering the fries were endless. The meal also started with a crisp and light salad that had a dressing I could probably drink. My boyfriend and I wanted to order some appetizers, but I'm glad we didn't because by the end of the meal, we were full. I did order the petite creme brûlée though, which was not petite at all. It was huge and only priced at $9... that felt illegal. Our waitress had a very calming presence and she was lovely! I can't remember her name but it started with a "T" and she had pretty, curly hair. I think the manager was walking around, asking how everyone was doing too, which is always great. We definitely want to come back to try more of the menu, and probably take his parents here too!

The space is absolutely gorgeous and has that elevated, sophisticated feel you'd expect from the Global Ambassador. Service was truly 5-star from start to finish. I've had the Caesar salad at the lobby bar plenty of times, so I was excited to try the Chicken Caesar Wrap--and it was just as delicious! The French onion soup was good, although it was a little too rich and a bit heavy on the wine flavor for my taste. Overall, a beautiful setting, excellent service, and a great lunch experience. I'll definitely be back!

It's hard to put into words how great this place is. Have you ever been somewhere when everything…read morejust feels "right, balanced, happy"? That is Farish House. The cozy, intimate comfort of what used to be Coup des Tartes blended seamlessly with the deep, peaceful, gentle "love" you felt from House of Tricks into one calm, warm, easy spot. Farish House is a real, soul-warming experience across the board. The service, care, comfort, ambience, food, value and clear love they put into everything make Farish House our new favorite place. We walked through the front gate, up onto the front porch and inside where we took one of three small tables in the cozy front salon of this soul-warming 1899 French Bistro. *Food: we started with a bottle of Australian Cab. Shockingly good. And not crazy expensive, especially on Thursday when bottles are 30% off, it was an amazing deal. Turns out, the owner, Greg, was in the wine distribution business for several decades, curating wine programs for top Valley restaurants, so he really knows his stuff and their vast wine selection is amazing. We were offered a basket of truffle popcorn, mmm, salty, crunchy, and rich. We ordered the Chef's Selection Charcuterie and Warm Noble Baguette & Marinated Olives to get started. Both were beautifully curated, balanced, and incredibly high quality. The flavors and textures blended perfectly. with cheeses broken from large wheels, rather than cut and sliced, house-made pickled grapes, unique and unusual ingredients, smokey meats, compound butters, just awesome! We then moved into one of the cozy dining rooms and ordered the slow roasted Peposo Short Ribs and fingerling potatoes pan fried in duck fat served with Moroccan spiced aioli. Both were rich, warm and delicious. For dessert, and yes we thought we'd explode from all this food, we ordered a massive slice of bread pudding, some of the best I've ever had, rich, gooey and incredible. Along with that we ordered a beautiful Espresso Martini and an off-menu banana cream martini. Their drinks are not "poured" or mixed here, they're balanced and expertly crafted. This is French Bistro comfort food at its finest and it's unmistakeable. *Service: it just doesn't get better. Everyone working there is "family". And that's how they make you feel; like family, cared for, wanted, welcomed. Service isn't a choreographed masterpiece, no tuxedos, cloths draped over arms, napkins frantically re-folded when you step away, dishes served and cleared in unison. No, it's relaxed, warm, friendly, kind, like being at your grandmothers house and knowing you're surrounded by people who care. Met Greg and Katherine, the owners, and their daughter Alexandra and several other "family" members taking care of us. Their appreciation for your presence is unmistakable. *Ambience: it's just plain comfy, cozy, easy, relaxed, warm, deep, gentle, worn (in a good way), wise, and calm, that's the best I can describe it. Hard wood floors, cozy rooms, soft, warm lighting. It's a non-pretentious, French bistro that feels like the home of a favorite grandma or great aunt living in a warm family cottage in the outskirts of Paris. *Value: it's perfect. It's not ridiculously expensive like Kai, Brinkley's, Cafe Monarch, Christopher's, or French Laundry where you go, "okay, that was fun but we'll only do this very occasionally/rarely and it's probably worth it, but dang that was pricey!" No, Farish House is 100% value to experience, not cheap, but not overpriced, the balance is just right. It's a place you can go often, and we will. Yes, our meal with apps, drinks and dessert, some on happy hour and the Thursday wine special, was around $200. I'd happily say this experience was worth every penny. *Overall: I can't recommend Farish House highly enough. Parking is on the street or in a nearby lot, and that's a downtown thing. There's a small lot in back. The food, ambience, service, quality, and experience were stellar. I wish I could rate them 6 stars instead of just 5. I'll return often and highly recommend Farish House to everyone. I genuinely hope you enjoy as much as we did!

We had service by Ella who is fabulous and also got to meet the owners daughter Alexandria. But there's more! After much deliberation and compromise, we both decided to share the bread pudding. I have been to New Orleans many times where they make fantastic bread pudding. The Farish House bread pudding can stand up to the best of the bread pudding in New Orleans and that is saying a lot. (I did not. I ordered a full breakfast and a waffle like an adult with priorities.) I went around 9:15am on a Wednesday--only a few tables were occupied, and the staff was super friendly, gave great recommendations, and the food came out fast. Inside is dialed in with chandeliers, French-y posters and photos everywhere, and a pastry case with tarts, pastries, and cheesecake that basically dares you to behave. The croissant was the star... fresh, flaky, light, buttery... exactly what you want. The egg was cooked perfectly and the cheese was melted into it almost like a mini omelette (loved that). My only hiccup was the "bacon." It leaned more limp pork belly than crispy bacon and had a distinct smoke flavor that wasn't the traditional hardwood/hickory vibe I'm used to. Also... because the cheese and egg are fused together, it's basically impossible to pick the bacon out once it's in there. Next time I'd order it without bacon or ask for it on the side and make it crispy. It came with a side salad, which is not what I expected with breakfast, but it was actually great, fresh spring mix and a delicious dressing with a subtle sweet undertone. There were also hash browns with a crispy exterior and soft, warm interior, exactly the texture you hope for I just wish there were more of them! Because I have no self-control around French cafes, I also ordered the Belgian waffle with fruit and whipped cream. The waffle was warm and tasty, more tender/soft than crispy, and I ended up preferring it to the 'scrape the roof of your mouth' style that most restaurants serve up. The whipped cream tasted freshly whipped and the fruit selection was generous. My only critique: I'd skip the granulated sugar on top. The waffle is sweet enough already, and biting into sugar crystals isn't my favorite texture. For a drink I tried the blueberry lavender matcha. It had crushed blueberries in it, but the matcha flavor was pretty mild and the lavender got lost. I also would've liked a touch more sweetness from the syrup but overall it drank a bit "soft" and subtle. Bottom line... really cool little spot with friendly service, quick food, and a pastry case that will absolutely ruin any plan you had to "just eat light." I'll be back but next time I'm customizing that croissant sandwich and letting the pastries talk me into bad decisions.

The duck confit sandwich was rich thanks to the house pâté, yet never felt overly greasy, and they were very generous with the duck. For the filet mignon, it was initially served at the wrong temperature, but the staff quickly corrected it and brought out a fresh steak cooked to a perfect temp, it was juicy and tender, though fairly standard. The bouillabaisse was loaded with seafood, the broth was rich and tasted intensely of the sea, but the bread served on top was just okay. Dessert ended on a high note with the chocolate soufflé. It requires a 20-minute bake time, but it is well worth the wait, the rich, warm chocolate paired with cold ice cream was incredible! The crème brûlée, by comparison, was kinda average. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience complemented by friendly, attentive service!

I had bouillabaisse and it was the best thing I have eaten in a long time. It has a little kick to it, which I think may have been produced by ginger. Anyhow, I enjoyed every bite of it. I would order this again in a heartbeat. The service was great. It was lunchtime and they weren't awfully busy so we were served right away and our food came in a reasonable time The ambience was fine. There was a table of guys who were all coworkers, apparently, and they were quite loud, but that was toward the end of our lunch and it didn't really bother us too much.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with the open kitchen right at the bar, and the views through the wraparound glass are amazing. All of the food was great. I had the goat cheese salad, and it was perfectly fried with a light vinaigrette dressing. The duck was the best I've ever had. It wasn't greasy or gamey at all and had a really nice smoky flavor from the wood-fired grill. The desserts were amazing as well. The soufflé was one of the best I've ever had--not overcooked like so many others, but still soft and creamy inside. The chocolate mousse was great too. I loved the texture of the shell combined with the smoothness of the mousse. The service was top-notch. We never had to ask for anything; the staff was attentive throughout the entire meal without being overbearing. For the quality of the food, atmosphere, service, and overall experience, I thought the price was perfect. You could easily spend more at a high-end steakhouse and not get an experience this good. I would definitely come back and highly recommend it.

For those familiar with Kevin Binkley's former projects, there are hints of what we used to experience at his restaurants but this takes it over the top. The evening was full of surprises, culinary theater and the gorgeous view makes it unforgettable. We used to eat at Christopher's at the Biltmore and it was wonderful to see this playful and stylish iteration. The food was phenomenal, interesting, well-excuted and so very enjoyable. There were a few service hiccups. We were served the same course twice (which was promptly removed when we notified our server). There was a significant gap between two of the courses (maybe 20 minutes or so) and it felt odd. The kitchen knew that I am pescetarian and they beautifully accommodated me except when a plate of lamb appeared in front of me (it was quickly rectified). This is definitely a special occasion meal and if you're looking for something unique and delicious, this is it.

Café Paris was such a cute little find in an unexpected location! We have driven past this shopping…read morecenter many times and had no idea it was even there. After seeing an Instagram reel featuring the café, we decided to give it a try. We ordered the breakfast burrito and a made-to-order omelet with sourdough toast and a croissant. We also tried the vanilla and caramel iced coffees. There was plenty of parking, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was quaint and charming. There were a few things I would do differently next time. Both the breakfast burrito and omelet were a little too wet for my preference, so I would ask for my eggs to be cooked a bit drier. The omelet was also very generously filled with vegetables--almost to the point that there was hardly any egg! I ended up with quite a few leftover veggies that I was simply too full to finish. The sourdough toast with jam was perfect and probably one of my favorite parts of breakfast. The croissant was on the dry side, so I would set expectations accordingly if you are looking for a very soft, fresh pastry. I have never been to Paris, so I cannot speak to how it compares to an authentic Parisian café experience! The iced coffee was good, although I prefer mine sweeter. That is an easy adjustment to request next time. One suggestion regarding seating: if you are sensitive to smells, I would recommend sitting farther away from the restrooms. They appear to be older and there was a noticeable musty smell in that area. The floors could also have used a little more attention. I would also love to see purse hooks added underneath the tables. We did not want to occupy a four-person table just so I had somewhere to put my purse, but I also did not want to place it on the floor. I have seen some people suggest that the positive reviews for Café Paris must be fake, but I certainly do not think that is the case. Dining experiences often come down to personal preferences. I would have preferred sweeter coffee and drier eggs, but both are things I can easily request differently next time. The food was still fresh, flavorful, and enjoyable. Overall, Café Paris is a cute little hidden gem with friendly service and a charming atmosphere. There are a few things I would change based on my personal preferences, but none of them would keep me from returning. I will definitely be back!
