First time trying Song Lai Xiang! We loved the fact that the customers get free parking in the back because all the Flushing people know parking sucks in Murray Hill. A+ for convenience! The tables have remote ordering via tablet, so you can be an independent introvert! The tables are also equipped with a grill that automatically spins the skewers for you for an awesome dining experience. But you need to keep watch! You must also make sure you know when certain meat is cooked. Otherwise, you'll face the consequences at home. While I do not recommend noodles here (we tried warm and cold noodles, they were NOT it), we did enjoy many of the dishes that came prepared: Teppan Chicken Gizzards and Teppan Beef Intestines. It gets pretty hot in there, so make sure you bring removable clothes.

This is the restaurant that used to be near main street. Same owner, different location but cleaner facility! Unfortunately, they are not doing wood fire anymore, they are doing electric, but honestly, i think its better. No more firing up like crazy. Place is really clean. They have a yelp kiosk for waiting line. Be sure to check in or sign up for waiting line when you arrive. If you are lucky, you might be able to get the seat right away! There were 18 waiting team and I waited about an hour I love the atmosphere. They have more food options available, mainly korean chinese food. We ordered Lamb, beef, beef tendon skewers. It was awesome. Took about ~10 minutes to cook. I love how I can cook by myself. Naeng myun, very south korean ish style but it has that special sour flavor to it Eggplant, this was awesome. Huge portion and delicious. I really recommend this! Overall, love how they reopened and i will definitely go back

Solid spot for Northern Korean/Chinese cuisine! From the meat skewers to the dishes -- everything slapped. Here's the rundown of today's feast: 1. Beef Skewers - Grill them yourself on the built-in auto-rotating grill. Cooked to perfection, dipped in dry seasoning -- absolute magic with a cold beer. 2. Big Mom Eggplant - NON-NEGOTIABLE. MUST TRY. Soft eggplant loaded with cilantro, meat, garlic, scallions, and sesame sauce. Mix it all together and you'll seriously question every other eggplant dish you've ever had. 3. Mixed Northern Veggies - Tofu skin, cucumber, cilantro, carrots, peanuts -- cold, sour, sweet, refreshing. Cranks your appetite up to MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE. Healthy and crazy good. 4. Shrimp Fried Rice - I'm calling it now: they definitely wok-fried this with lard. Ridiculously good. I'm still thinking about it while eating it. 5. Sizzling Beef Intestines - Soft, flavorful, sizzling hot -- beef intestines with veggies. If you know, you know. If you don't, you need to find out. 6. Fried Spring Fish - Big finger-sized fish packed with roe, fried perfectly, then stir-fried with spices. Tiny fish, huge flavor. 7. Dessert: Candied Yam - If you leave without ordering this, you played yourself. One of the best candied yams you'll ever taste -- crispy sugar shell, melty inside, pure happiness. This review is especially for my non-Asian friends (lol) Friendliness: Deliciousness: Price:

Came two times - first time to try some dishes and second time came back to order our favorites. Sour crispy pork- very crispy and sauce is good but a lot of batter. Braised eggplant- so good! Ordered both times. Seafood pancake - can skip, not crispy, was a pretty soft pancake, can get elsewhere. Beef and lamb skewers- must order! Pretty juicy and fresh. Cold la pi noodles- ordered both times! Love the sauce and so refreshing and tasty. Love the noodle texture as well. Potato pancakes- tried once, it's like a mochi pancake - crispy edges and chewy inside. I do wish the dishes they give for you to eat are a bit bigger and deeper, cause there's not much space on there. But other than that, great food and service!

Song Lai Xiang [4/5] We've seen Song Lai Xiang a few times and finally decided to give it a try. Walking up to the restaurant, it may be a little confusing because there is a different name on the side called Hao Fu Wen BBQ. We came right before 6pm on Saturday and luckily, we did not need to be on the waitlist. They give you a tablet to place your order. We had the Fried Potato Pancakes ($15), Mixed Jellyfish ($16), Lamb Skewers (10 for $20), Beef Skewers (10 for $20). The potato pancakes were crispy and chewy. I actually prefer it without the savory sauce. My favorite of the order was the mixed jellyfish because it is lightly spiced with a refreshing sour marinade, and the texture of the jellyfish had a crunch. I get the gimmick of cooking your own skewers, but I think I prefer having them already grilled. We were told to keep them on the machine for 6-7min, but we aren't very good at cooking them, and when we left them to cook longer for a char the staff told us that we should remove them because they are ready to eat. It was nice to try once, but if I want skewers in the future I will stick to my Chinatown location. There was also an incident where the oil from the meat dripped down and for some reason ignited a fire to erupt from the oil pit. For some reason it only lasted 2 seconds and the staff quickly came over to check what was wrong with the machine, but they didn't find anything. That was pretty scary because some oil spattered out as well. Thank goodness we were sitting in a way that was away from the machine because we could have gotten hurt. We readjusted the heat to a lower level to prevent that from happening again. The staff does walk around generally to take a look at the machine, but if you need them for anything in particular, there is a button on the tablet to call them over.

Food is good, a bit over priced skewers for the little meat that is on there. Still like the skewer carts more than this place but this is decent.

Been wanting to try this since I love BBQ skewers. Went with my daughter and we both felt it was meh. You can only order the skewers in set of 10 or some higher priced one in 5. Since it was only 2 of us, hard to order too much especially it was our first time. We wanted to order the side dishes but the descriptions were not clear and they were pricey. We needed up ordering 10 beef skewers for $20, 5 snow beef skewers for $20, 5 squid skewers and an order of braised eggplant. The skewers came and the waitress show us how to load the skewers so they would rotate automatically. When the braised eggplant came my daughter and I wanted some plain starch but we could not find any plain rice or noodles. Saw rice cakes but the picture shows it had coating and when I asked the waitress said it was a little sweet so we skipped it. The eggplant was tasty but greasy. A bowl of steaming white rice would have been perfect. The skewers were ok, nothing special. I was disappointed as I have been waiting to try this place for a while!

For dim sum, the carts are out and about with freshly steamed dishes. The cart ladies are so efficient. They will show you what they have and then push additional dishes on you to try. They are also motherly, urging you in Chinese to eat the food while the food is hot and not let it sit. They are sharp eyed, looking for diners who express interest in the dishes in their carts. It is a crowded, noisy, and wonderful place. You eat, look for dishes that catch your eye, and then eat some more. You also get to watch all the other diners enjoying food with their family and friends. For dinner, it was always done family style. We usually order lobster and shrimp dishes, as it is a seafood restaurant. However, all their other dishes are really good, so it is hard to say what is a favorite dish. Anyway, I encourage my friends to come here. I highly recommend Asian Jewels for the terrific food, great staff, and atmosphere.

The staff wanted my wife to sit at an angle to the table; so that they could pass through. The seafood itself was solid traditional Cantonese fare with fresh lobster tanks, steamed fish, and classic banquet-style dishes. The atmosphere felt colorful authentic Hong Kong banquet hall energy. However, some of their pricing was completely out of whack. Mother's Day premium for sure which is understandable, but some dishes were simply excessively expensive for what was delivered. For example, our two lobsters, while fresh, were missing that smoky "wok hei" flavor that great Cantonese kitchens are known for. It lacked the depth, aroma, and richness one expects from a proper high-heat wok preparation. A few items felt priced more for Guide Michelin luxury dining than a Flushing seafood hall. This said, the service was efficient and professional; changing plates all the time. So a high level of attention above the usual Cantonese restaurant. Overall, decent food in and an authentic Hong Kong style restaurant that targets special family gatherings, but be prepared, both the crowds and the bill can become overwhelming very quickly. I paid more than $400 for three people. But we had a Tiger Fish which is $50 per pound.

I have so many reasons to believe that Emperor is truly the reincarnation of the restaurant...just a little rusty. I've only come here for dim sum and I'm still surprised it doesn't get even half of the insane volume that nearby dim sum restaurants get, especially with how much closer they are to Roosevelt Ave. I have to say that the dim sum here is slightly better than most locations in the core downtown area, both in presentation and taste. No cart ladies, just a paper and pencil ordering system. The other diners that I usually encounter seem to strike me as locals, which is becoming harder to find these days. Prices are slightly more expensive than the other places, which is probably a factor as to why there aren't as many customers. The other reason is probably the subpar customer service here, which I've encountered on a number of recent visits. There are so many workers here, but none of them seem to have any good grasp of what customer service is. For example, I've had the waiter hover over me as I was gathering cash for my bill and snatched it the moment I placed the money down, also demanding at least 18% (again, for subpar service). Also, if you complain to them about your food, even if you find a hair, they will not do anything about it. The food quality is slightly above most of the dim sum places, but also bear in mind the hit-or-miss service you'll get, which the latter can be super frustrating.

However, it does have some nice looking decor, very grandiose. Some might call it gaudy. To each his/her own. Also, always able to get a reservation, not needing to go into downtown Flushing traffic, and having a large parking lot are major advantages. Honestly, these are the reasons that sets Crown One apart from most of the other Cantonese restaurants. As mentioned, the food here is solid, but it does have some ups and downs. Some of the better dishes I had include Sautéed Conch w/ Fried Milk, Boneless Chicken w/ Ham & Chinese Broccoli, Salt & Pepper Fried Calamari, Preserved Meat & Cauliflower, and Beef Pan Fried Noodle. The dim sum overall is decent and priced reasonably. I have been here for dim sum, small meals, as well as large banquets. I have never left here wow'ed by the food, but also never left unsatisfied. Once your number is called, you go up some stairs to the eating/tabled area. There are tables and chairs for 2, 4 and more guests throughout the large space. The pace of the restaurant is very fast...as soon as you are seated, you are given tea and your waiter comes over right away to take any order you are ready to give. Its helpful to ask for a menu while you are waiting for a table so you know what to order when asked. We had some soup dumplings as well as a (large) soup. Everything was very good and out in about 15 minutes...very fast. The soup dumplings were great...but as expected are filled with piping hot broth so be careful when eating. They have some other appetizers and dishes available. There are also some drink options including cold teas, soft drinks and beer. Overall a great experience...despite visiting on a busy Saturday, we were in and out in about 40-45 minutes. Street parking can be tough in the area but there are a few garages around...one of the more reasonable options is the garage at the Skyview shops which currently charge about $6 for up to three (3) hours and is a short 5 minute walk away.

There are some generally Good (4 stars) places, like Asian Jewels and Emperor Seafood, but most other places are somewhere between OK and Good (between 3 and 4 stars). Royal Queen 君豪大酒楼 is part of that latter group -- there are good things, but there is also mediocrity; and there are customer service issues. The good: - Beef Rice Noodle Rolls: The rice noodle rolls here are generally silky soft. There is supposedly parsley in the beef mince but we noticed little to none in the versions we've had. Royal Queen is generous with the sweetened soy sauce; they pour it from a teapot. - Pan-Fried Leek Dumplings 韭菜煎蝦餃: the shrimp are generally fresh and crisp. - Shrimp Siu Mai with Pork 蝦粒乾蒸燒賣: above average. - The Osmanthus Jelly 杞子桂花糕 has a deeper hue than most other places in Queens. The OK: - Five-Spice Braised Beef Tendon 五香蒸牛筋: pieces are generally little too large and not as consistently soft as other places. - Steamed Leek Dumplings: get the pan-fried version instead. - Stuffed Peppers 煎釀青椒: as with other places, inconsistently cleaned so there can be one or two bites that have an extreme amount of heat. - Shrimp Siu Mai: essentially the same as the ha gow, but in a different wrapper. I think we prefer the shrimp siu mai over the ha gow here. The Could Be Better: - Taro Dumplings (Wu Gok 芋角): lacks ingredients in the filling. - Staffing and Quality Control Issues: Royal Queen has plenty of staff, yet sometimes there aren't enough people working the dim-sum carts. Like many other Chinese restaurants, it seems that staff aren't empowered to address food quality issues. - The restrooms can be pretty good compared to those in other parts of the building. We observed people come into and out of the restaurant seemingly just to use the restrooms. However, there are times when the restrooms could be better maintained.
