Skewers!!!! Need I say more?!?! Hahaha. Who doesn't like skewers? I usually get my meat skewers from street carts, so when I learned of Luogong Skewers, I was jonesing to go! Luogong Skewers is located in a small shopping center, right next door to H-Mart. Parking in the lot was easy, which I appreciated since parking in this neighborhood can be challenging. They have a huge menu, so picking which skewers to try was hard! Haha They all sounded so good. But on this visit, there was only 3 of us, so we picked 3 different skewers to try. You can have the skewers cooked for you in their kitchen, or you can cook them yourself in the BBQ Grill at your table. We opted to cook them ourselves. The skewers are on metal sticks that rotate automatically for even cooking. Make sure you put the skewers sticks correctly on their tracks! I would suggest to put your grill on a high temperature to get the BBQ sear and flavors; otherwise you will be waiting a while for your meats to cook and they won't have that delicious BBQ sear taste. But don't be surprised when the flames randomly flair up! It's quite a visual! Once the meats are cooked to your preference, you can move the skewers to the upper rack to keep them warm without overcooking them. Note that they will give you plates of the house hot sauce, which is terrific! They will also come around to give you a seasoning made of cumin and sesame seeds. Also, on the table, are 3 different types of dry chilis. Whichever seasoning you use, I'm sure they will compliment your skewers nicely. I tried a few varieties and they were all good. Here is our Menu (shared by 3 ppl): ~ Mala Pork Rib Skewers (5 skewers/$10): Great! The mala flavors were mild, so add more spice if you prefer spicier. ~ Mala Lamb Skewers (5 skewers/$10): Also Great! This Mala was actually good n spicy! Good amount of seafood and veggies. Very flavorful. But next time, I would skip the seafood and try the lamb version. ~ Vegetable Pancake (complimentary): my mistake was thinking this was a scallion pancake. It had some scallions in it but it's definitely not a scallions pancake. It was kinda bland, seemed undercooked and wasn't crispy at all. But still, thank you for the chance to try it! Note that the meat on all the skewers were small sized. This was good for cooking purposes, and you didn't have to wait too long before your skewers are ready to eat. This place seems new and helpful for ordering a ton of skewers. What I love is the automatic rotation of the skewers without you having to flip them and the rack above to let the oil drain without overcooking them until they're burnt. Most of the lamb, beef, and pork skewers are marinated well or tasty with their dry sesame seasoning mix. Each morsel is tender and bite-sized for kids and seniors to chew easily. Save room for some of their dishes, like the grilled squid and stuffed mushrooms with shrimp and fish roe. In particular, I liked their black pepper beef skewer cooked with raw egg yolk brushed on it for a tender, juicy, and flavorful mix accentuated by their different seasoning options. The booth style seating with exhaust works well to ensure your clothes don't smell from the grilling and oils. In addition, they have a bell to ring for prompt, friendly, and helpful service. Bad service. Food poisoning. Good concept, poorly executed. Terrible service all around and short-tempered waiters. I did like the food, but their staff demeanors pretty much ruined the entire experience. They don't explain the proper usage method of their in-table grills, which mine obviously had issues, but they sure didn't skip a beat to blame me directly for the grease flames that occur because their water pan wasn't handled properly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their restrooms were blazing hot but everyone that works there seems to think this is normal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is as advertised, but ruined by poorly taped-on February Christmas decorations with a depleted and dangling battery pack.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They informed us upon ordering that they offered complimentary vegetable pancakes for orders over $50, which is great. Unfortunately we had to ask for this when it still had not arrived at the table and we were almost done with our meal. We were met with a disappointing, cold and undercooked pancake with barely any vegetables. It was either a promotional move or a kind gesture for them to offer the table raw marinated crab free of charge. It tasted ok, but not sure how coincidental it is that I ended up in the emergency room from food poisoning one night after having had the crab. My dining partner didn't have the crab and was ok.
