When someone orders black coffee do you think they want it filled to the absolute brim? can you even hand it to them without it spilling? What do you think is going to happen the second they move around with it? I guess you think people enjoy hot coffee spilling everywhere. So I was blasting through the area on a pick up and looking for a coffee treat; boy did I find one. If you're looking for a well-crafted artisan coffee this is a great stop. My latte was spot on and the customer service was friendly and prompt even though it was near closing time on Sunday. There were quite a few locals eating on the patio outside. The place was super clean and well-kept and looks pretty new. The locals are definitely glad they have found the spot and so am I. read more

The coffee is decent- we tried a couple pour overs and the regular latte and chai. Chai is better than other places but not the best I've had. We tried the veggie roasted sandwich which was pretty decent. Though the avocado toast is pretty good! They toast the bread perfect before adding avocado which gives a nice crunchy bite! Super cute, I love this place! The atmosphere is really nice, the drinks are great, and the staff is really friendly. What more can you ask for? I'll start off my review by describing the interior during Covid times - I like how spacious and open the area is, and they have a really nice system where they put labels on tables (that rhymed!) if the table has been sanitized. There are also a few tables underneath a shaded area outside where people can sit. I'm still wary of sitting indoors and prefer to grab my drink to go, but if you are looking for a clean, Covid-conscious area to hang out/sit, I would recommend Solid Coffee Roasters. Although, when I went during the weekend, it was definitely way busier and I noticed a lot of people took off their masks to talk indoors, so I would keep that in mind. In terms of their drinks, I tried their honey oatmilk latte, vanilla latte, and their house coffee. Honestly, my favorite was the house coffee because of how rich and aromatic it is. It was really delicious and I felt super #zen sipping my hot coffee. My second would be the vanilla latte - I asked for mine without any ice because I hate how watery my lattes get, and I thought the vanilla latte was super delicious. They use whole milk, so it tastes very fragrant and rich. Definitely more on the indulgent side, but I really loved it. Finally, I tried the honey oatmilk latte and I thought it was pretty good, but not as delicious as the other two drinks. If you are looking for something less sweet though, I would recommend the honey latte because they're able to customize it more. I would also recommend getting it with whole milk (if you are able to), because the honey didn't really mix well with the oatmilk, in my opinion. Time* around 11:30am on Saturday. Wait* None. Parking* There is a free parking lot in the front, shared with the same plaza. Still have plenty of spaces around this time. Food* I ordered the dark chocolate mocha and the avocado toast. The mocha is served in acme cups and saucers. The size is perfect but could get quite heavy to hold it with one hand when it is full. The mocha has a very strong smell of chocolate but taste wise, you can only get a hint of chocolate, but the coffee taste is strong. The avocado toast looks very simple, with some cherry tomatoes and pepper on a sour toast. When you bite into it, you will taste a bit of lemony sour in the avocado spread, not so much the pepper. The tomato gives a little sweetness and juiciness to the toast and not to mention, the toast is very crispy, making the entire combination very balanced. Price* It is around $15 for both items, which is the norm nowadays... Service* The barista who served me seems a bit grumpy, but she is polite and in good manner. The food and drink are served in a timely manner as well. Environment* Lots of 2 people table and a few long bar tables that are good for hanging out. They have free wifi! I was invited to attend a tasting of all the food items on their menu. I did not know what to expect so I was super excited when I arrived. The owner was very nice and gave us a nice background story of this new coffee shop. The shop was very nice and modern with plenty of tables to lounge around in. To start off the night, we each got to choose any drink off their menu and I went with their dark chocolate mocha. It had a nice and rich mocha flavor and it was very good. My other friends ordered hot chocolate and their vanilla bean latte, both were delicious!! We also had a couple of samples of their, macha tea, London fog and cold brew. All the drinks I tried did not disappoint. As we got our drink orders, the food items started coming out. Everything looked amazing and I still can't believe we got to try everything from their menu!!! It was hard to decide which dish was my favorite but I think their spam and egg sandwich stood out from the rest. It had the perfect amount of egg and spam with a hint of pineapple flavor. I just discovered this place and I love it. It can get pretty crowded but I've always managed to find a space. Plentiful outlets, which is great. There are always people working on their laptops which contributes a productive work environment (for me at least) The coffee and tea is also really good. They have almond, soy and OAT MILK. The oat milk latte was amazing. It's kinda pricey but for the quality, I can overlook that. They also had vegan cake donuts. Earlier this morning, I decided to try this coffee shop (Solid Coffee Roasters) which is located in the Artesia section, on the corner of South Street and Norwalk Blvd. Came here when it wasn't packed just yet. I was greeted by John. As I was ordering... Originally, my plan was to try their affogato (Vanilla ice cream in espresso), but due to not having ice cream available at that time, I was unable to get that. That's fine though, it doesn't hurt to try something else which I did. I ordered an dark chocolate mocha and an rainbow krispie treat. Sounds good yes? The rainbow krispie treat, at first I thought the rainbow color on that was the fruit loops as I took a bite of it. That's what I thought it tastes like. Well, here's what I found from John as I was eating it, it was actually fruity pebbles that was mixed with the rice krispie. He got me good actually. I was surprised by that. I may have to work on tasting different cereals so I don't get confused next time. So, I can assume it was homemade and ready to eat. As far as the quality and taste goes, it was quite delicious. Now, the dark chocolate mocha. As John bring the drink to my table, I noticed they actually do latte art on those drinks. I took a sip, it was very good. Quite enjoyable. The service was excellent, John and Simon are really great. They actually checked up on me as I was drinking my coffee and after I was finished with it. They're so nice. Solid is definitely an excellent exemplar of the third wave of coffee movement across Southern California. Just as Philz has claimed Glendale and Blue Bottle has claimed DTLA, Solid Coffee Roasters has found its foothold in Artesia. I visited on a weekday morning and was surprised by how busy the cafe is. But after trying its nitro cold brew, I have no doubt that Solid is here to stay. The nitro cold brew has such a refined and complex flavor, elevating the coffees to nothing less than craft beer status. I enjoyed every sip of my drink and it looks like many others do as well. The ambiance is roomy and fresh, excellent for studying or having a long conversation with an old friend. The plaza has plenty of parking but is a bit out of sight from the street if you're not looking for it. I decided to give this place a try after seeing Timmy S's review and check-in. The fact this place roasts its own coffee beans was a definite plus, as well as house-made food and pastry items. I think this place started off as a wholesaler of roasted coffee beans and has expanded to a retail business, similar to Aroma Craft in Walnut. I'm not a big coffee person so I went with Dark Chocolate Mocha on my first visit. It had a very smooth flavor, but a bit too neutral. I expected more bitterness from the dark chocolate but the overall flavor seemed very mild. I still prefer Portola when it comes to mocha. I also got some type of pumpkin crumble loaf, which was very good. It had a good crumbly texture on top with great pumpkin flavor. On my second visit I tried the house-made Sparkling Iced Lemonade and a mixed berry pie. The lemonade was quite different from other sparkling lemonades. It was more fragrant and syrup tasted clean (without any nasty aftertaste). The employee told me all the flavor and fragrance are at the top and syrup is at the bottom. I had to wait a bit for the pie but it was worth it. It was nice and hot with a flaky crust, and the filling wasn't too sweet. There are many other items on the menu that I want to try eventually. I probably won't try too many of the coffee drinks but the pastry items and snacks, as well as tea-based lattes, sound pretty enticing. Just like Timmy S., my main complaint with this place is the limited space, and it gets worse when most of the tables and chairs are taken up by students with laptops. This place has high caliber food and drinks, and a cool decor, but seeing bunch of people with laptops at each table cheapened the experience. In the past I would've deducted stars for this but I am going to be fair and just give my rating on products it sells. If this place wants to cater to students, that's none of my business. I just won't hang out here. In terms of overall vibe I still prefer Bakers & Baristas. At least it turns off wi-fi during busy hours to deter people from hanging out with their laptops. It's located in the same center as Red Eye Fish. This building looks like an oddball as it's the only one without the red sign and white letters. I had to take a picture of the building next to it just to show how different this place looks. I think this spot used to be some dive bar back in the days. It looks nothing like it now. read more

Located in a strip mall on the corner of South Street and Norwalk Blvd., this little coffee shop seems to only have one negative aspect and that's the fact that perhaps it's too small. I stopped in late one morning intending to sit & relax for a few minutes and found myself taking the last available seat at a table. Seems that even though it's just opened it's become a popular spot for people to set up their laptops for an extended stay. Aside from that the entire staff is phenomenal - very friendly and justifiably proud of the good coffee they provide their customers. The latte I got was perfection in a mug - a deep flavor with a hint of bitterness. It puts those corporate coffee conglomerates to shame. My blueberry crumble (made in-house) was tasty, crumbly and bursting with blueberries; a delightful snack to accompany my latte.
