Love how authentic and natural the teas taste here! I originally tried this boba shop in OC and wished that they would open one closer to me. So glad that they've had it here because I've been going for a while-- even attending one of their grand opening days! This time around, I got the hojicha latte at 75% sweet. Love how roasted and nutty it tasted, but I could've probably gone for 50% sweet as it was still pretty sweet. I have also tried their earl grey cheesecake tea latte, and that was also sweet-- so keep in mind if getting to lessen the sugar too. My go to is their roasted oolong tea latte cause I'm an oolong tea lover and it's made to perfection every time! Service was great. Cashier was able to help me use my 20% off from the blind box cup sleeve I got back in February. I like how they have their CNY chimes above the register, adds a nice touch. We did have to wait 20 minutes for boba, but the cashier also kindly told us that it would take 20 minutes-- we were willing to wait. I would say it was worth it cause the boba was fresh and chewy! She loved how smooth and earthy the matcha tasted but wished they had some kind of foam topping. They gave her less ice so she was very pleased. Clean and modern tea shop with delicious, flavorful, and strong tea. There's a lot to choose from: lattes, fruit teas, loose leaf teas, and more. I ordered a genmaicha latte with boba (75% sweet) and loose leaf oolong tea (no sugar). Both very good, and I appreciate how powerful the oolong tea is as someone who loves a strong tea. I also love that they have an option here to get the cups sealed in case you aren't drinking immediately or just want the peace of mind knowing your drink won't easily spill. When we came, we ordered from a kiosk--no staff was available in the counter area except when making drinks. Not sure if it's like that often since it's my first time here. There's some seating inside if you want to hang out or just if you're waiting for your orders. Location is great, by Cerritos mall, but the plaza can get busy. We just happened to come across this tea house after having dinner and I am beyond obsessed! Their aesthetic was just so pleasing to the eye. It's very minimalist, but in a good way. They also had samples of their loose leaf tea by the counter for people to smell if they needed help in deciding which tea to go for, or while waiting for their order. Ordering was very easy and convenient as they have a kiosk customers can use to put in their order. Once our order was in, we didn't have to wait too long for our drinks to come out either. They don't have much seating, but they do have a small bench as their waiting area. Now for the tea... all of the drinks we got, we were extremely happy with. They were so flavorful with the perfect balance of sweetness to it. The taste of the tea was incredibly strong and robust with every sip and I loved it! What we tried: Roasted Oolong Tea Latte - 5/5 I'm a huge fan of roasted oolong tea in general and this one was exceptional in its toasted nuttiness, and very moreish. I wanted to have a second and third cup of it, it was just way too good! I had mine with 75% sugar and it was just the right amount of sweetness for me. Earl Grey Cheese Cake Latte - 5/5 So creamy and decadent, and yet you won't get tired of drinking it because it's not overly sweet. They did recommend just 50% sugar and that's what we got--it's the perfect amount of sweetness in my opinion, especially with the cream top. Lemon Wintermelon Tea with Lychee Jelly - 4/5 This one was simple, yet still delicious. It was very refreshing and very balanced in flavor; although again, we just chose 50% sugar with this drink and it still had a lot of sweetness to it. I came here in the afternoon to get a tea. The store was spacious but has one kiosk, two tables, and a small bench. I ordered the Osmanthus Amber Oolong Tea and less sweet. I am not a tea person at all but I was convinced by my friend to give this place a try. Needless to say, I was so impressed and happy with my drink. I got the roasted oolong tea with the cheese foam and boba. It was perfect amount of tea flavor for me mixed in with the savory foam and bouncy brown sugar boba. Parking is available in a lot. The interior is super aesthetic with a few seating areas. Loved the vibes! I had really high hopes for the tea here since very few places offer the specific teas that they do - like my favorite Phoenix oolong. We got the Phoenix oolong and roasted oolong tea lattes. Honestly I'm never in Cerritos but after searching for a spot to chill and chat with a friend at, we randomly decided on Bako and I'm so glad we did. Stopped by on a Saturday night, so parking was ridiculous to find. There was a steady flow of customers and the line did not get too long. You order on an ordering screen and there are seats inside to wait for your drinks. There are also a couple of tables for bigger groups. I decided on the phoenix oolong tea latte (half sweet, less ice of course), and my friend got the wintermelon tea latte with grass jelly. The phoenix oolong tea latte hit the spot!! So yum and not too sweet, which I prefer. Unfortunately, my friend forgot to get a lower level of sweetness in her wintermelon tea latte so her drink was too sweet. I did appreciate that they had samples of the tea leaves laid out on the counter so you could smell the fragrance of each tea before choosing -- such a nice touch. I ended up going with the genmaicha latte and really enjoyed it. It was creamy, refreshing, and not overly sweet at all. Overall, a solid spot for quality tea. Bako is a great tea house in Cerritos. The interior has a fancier feel to it, but from what memory recalls, not too much seating. But there is one thing that keeps us coming back for more that other tea shops do not offer - purple rice topping! It's one of my favorite desserts and I haven't found another local place that offers it, but it's a great complement to many drinks, albeit a little filling. The only reason I am docking a star is because their drinks tend to me a little on the sweeter side, even when I ask for 75% sweetness. Cute little tea shop I stumbled upon while grabbing some Gyu Kaku. Nice you walk in, there is this chill atmosphere. There is a self order kiosk which is very convenient if there is no one at the register taking orders. The menu is above the self order kiosk and the menu is in the self order kiosk. I saw they had season drinks which were not part of the self order kiosk, which I wanted to try. So maybe that could be an option that's needs to be added there. I like the variety of drinks they have on the menu as well as the toppings. I usually order something basic but my boyfriend was curious with some of the toppings they had. I got a jasmine milk tea with boba and my boyfriend got a matcha latte with boba and purple rice, which he was curious about. I like how you can make your adjustments on the self kiosk. So glad I finally tried this place. The matcha was so yummy, it leaned more towards the milk tea side of things but still had a nice matcha flavor. I got 100% sweet and it was a little too sweet for me so i would recommend getting less but I also subbed for oat milk and I highly suggest doing that because it really helps bring out the matcha notes. Very rare I catch myself in the Cerritos area, let alone twice in a week, so I had to come back again after my initial visit since I had mixed feelings about my first order. Ordering here is easy; just order on your own at the kiosk and drink comes out pretty quickly. First time I ordered a honey lemon kumquat green tea, 50% sugar (lowest sugar option). Even at 50%, I thought it was wayyyy too sweet and at one point wondered if it was even prepared at 50% sweetness. None of the tea flavor came through and I only tasted the honey lemon kumquat. Second visit I ordered a regular roasted oolong tea, also at 50% sugar. Tea was nutty and strong, but again still too sweet for my taste. I've concluded maybe Bako is sweeter than some other places, so I'd order 25% moving forward. Solid spot along South and lots of other good restaurants in the shopping center. We stumbled upon it right after eating at Mikiya and decided to give it a try. Drinks (5/5): I ordered the Phoenix Oolong, and it was excellent , it reminded me of Orobae with its smooth, fragrant tea flavor. Tea flavor wasn't very strong in the hojicha latte, so that was disappointing. The earl grey latte we ordered was great. I would adjust sweetness for both drinks to be 50% next time and ask for the hojicha tea leaves to be brewed a bit longer next time. Service and ambiance were perfectly cozy. I'd love to give those two drink orders a second chance with some adjustments. I was also informed by a dear friend that their genmaicha latte was delicious, though I cannot personally vouch for it yet. If you're seeking great tea, thus is the boba spot to rule them all. Tried a lot of boba spots but nowhere has as wide of a variety and as high of quality tea across the board. The boba is also well cooked so it's not mushy or partly hard. I've tried a few of their teas and the genmaicha has been my favorite. The nuttiness really comes through. I normally love hojicha but this one doesn't have as much of the roasted flavors as what I typically like. On this one tea, boba guys has the better hojicha. My only gripe is that they seem to run out of a few of the teas from time to time. There is also limited seating so it's not a place to sit and enjoy your tea. Bako Tea House has quickly become my new favorite place to get milk tea, especially because of their roasted oolong. The Phoenix Milk Tea is also really good and I appreciate that they offer milk substitutions like oat. The boba is always on point, soft, chewy and consistently well prepared. I also like that the kiosk lets you choose milk heavy or tea heavy, adjust sweetness and ice, and even decide whether you want the drink sealed or not. The matcha is just okay. It has turned out a little watery the few times we tried it and leans on the milkier side, but everything else has been excellent. Parking can be extremely tough since there are only a handful of spots, even during non peak hours, so that is something to keep in mind. The service has always been great. Everyone who works here has been very nice and accommodating. The inside of the shop is small with only three tables and space for about six or seven people, but it has never felt packed during any of our visits. read more

Tea was pretty ok, but didn't stand out and wasn't really unique or extraordinary in any way. I will say, what did stand out and the reason to the point deduction was how the shop smelled. I believe I got the roasted oolong or the phoenix, can't remember, but flavor was ok. Requested for it to be more tea than milk and they pulled that off pretty well. Boba consistency was nice. Again, the drink was fine. What got us surprised was the minute we walked in, the shop smelled. I couldn't pinpoint what it smelled like (sour/moldy/sewage but less pungent?) but the smell wasn't pleasant and the fact that it wafted through the shop had us wondering what was going on in the back or kitchen of the shop. Note: The person I went with is usually nose deaf to a lot of smells, so the fact she pointed out the smell to me means it must've been pretty significant of an odor. For a shop that looked aesthetic, the smell of the place was not it. Has you wondering what's going on in the back and if cleanliness is up to standard. I stopped by Bako Tea House and ordered their Rose Guanyin Tea Latte with Purple Rice as my topping. I never had Purple Rice as a topping in my drink before and I really enjoyed it. I would totally get it again. I appreciate how when you order a latte, you have the option to choose between tea heavy or milk heavy. I never saw tea shops have that option before so that really stood out to me. I went with the tea heavy because I like my tea strong and my drink delivered! The tea was quite strong and may be a little overpowering if you don't like your tea sweetened. I have been to the Santa Ana location numerous times, but since my family and I had dinner in Cerritos, we decided to stop here for some after dinner beverages. The quality of their teas is why I love Bako in general. It's the same exact quality as their Santa Ana location. I ordered my usual Peachy Oolong Tea with Lychee Jelly (50% sweetness). The drink had a strong oolong tea flavor and the hint of peach was just right. The chewy pieces of lychee jelly complemented the tea perfectly.
