Definitely a favorite, and I'm surprised I don't stop by more often. I guess with all the new shops constantly popping up, I'm always tempted to check out what's new. Still, it's nice to know this place remains a reliable go-to whenever I'm craving a good drink. One thing I really appreciate is how creative they are with their seasonal menu. It feels like there's always something new to try, and there is always a drink I want to try. This time, I ordered the seasonal High Mountain Paradise with 50% sugar and lychee jelly. It was absolutely delicious, and the 50% sugar level was perfect. It was just sweet enough to bring out the flavors without overpowering the tea itself. The mango and guava notes were a bit subtle, but they paired wonderfully with the delicate oolong tea, creating a refreshing and well balanced drink. The lychee jelly was also a great addition, adding a little extra texture and sweetness with every sip. I'd also say this jelly was softer than the typical jelly I've gotten, which I really liked. The shop can get pretty busy, probably because they really do offer a little bit of everything. Besides drinks, they have a food menu that seemed surprisingly popular during my visit. I saw plenty of people ordering snacks and meals, and everything coming out looked and smelled amazing. I'll definitely have to come back and try some of the food for myself next time. I came here with my girlfriends from my basketball team a couple weeks ago. I really like this chain and I'm excited that they are branching out to more locations. I ordered the scallion pancake wrap with crispy chicken. I enjoyed it and also liked eating the mabo tofu tots off of my friends plates. I had a yummy brown sugar boba drink as well. First time getting the green onion scallion chicken wrap. I really liked the taste and that it had a lot of chicken. The portion was great if you wanted to not be super full. The only downside was that the wrap started to get a little soggy. At that point I would've preferred to eat it with a knife and fork. Would I get it again? Yes! I'd just ask for a knife and fork once it gets to that point. Location is in a busy plaza but parking is ample. I am obsessed with one thing and one thing only from Bopomofo. It is Corn Milk with Strawberry Sorbet. It is truly unlike any other corn milk at any other place on the planet, and I've had corn milk in Thailand and Vietnam.  I think they've shared that they use corn juice, paired with milk. The tartness of the strawberry sorbet is a perfect pairing with the sweet, almost decadent corn milk. To me, it's a fun and perfectly balanced sweet treat. I would definitely recommend checking Bopomofo out just for the Corn Milk, although I cannot speak to the rest of the menu. It's all I order haha. read more

This location is in a plaza so parking isn't a problem, plenty of indoor seating and some outside. Service has been friendly everytime we've come. Okay still 5 stars overall, but I gotta be honest bout the large scallion pancake chicken wrap. Thank you for bringing it to other locations! Was excited to finally try it. Flavor was good at 4.5+/5, and like the nori fish sando, this felt like an elevated and Asian-Americanized snack wrap. However, the size was a little overhwelming. My friend and I thought a few medium-sized chicken pieces rather than the huge piece would be nice, as it did feel a bit heavy toward the end. The veggies were appreciated, though I may have liked them even better if the carrots were a little either blanched or pickled? The sauce was very thin/runny, so it kept spilling out of the other side. I understand that thickening might require thickeners, however, so my thoughts are mixed on that. Guava Wang was great! Placed the order ahead of time via DoorDash and everything was ready upon arrival. I took the wrong exit off of 605 so I wasn't sure if my food would become soggy by the time I make it. Much to my surprise, everything stayed not only warm but CRISPY!! No sogginess in sight or taste! Incredible, knowing everything I ordered was topped with wet toppings or coleslaw/ vegetables. I couldn't help but devour my entire case of mapo tofu tots before even leaving the parking lot. Omg. Talk about flavor explosion nicely complimented by the wonderfully crispy tots!!! First time here and I would absolutely come back again! Plenty of parking but because it's centered in a plaza you might have to drive around a loop or too when it's busy. Staff was helpful in recommending specific items based on what my likes were. They have a few different seating options with a long communal rectangle table with stools, a couple round tables with 4 chairs, and I believe a table outside big enough for 2. There was a few people studying which means it is mostly quiet and in the calmer side of noise level. They have a self serve water spout with cups on the side I had the spicy popcorn chicken with basil aioli. You can choose from white or dark meat, I chose white and it wasn't very juicy but tasted very clean and light, I very much enjoyed it! I really enjoy coming to this BOPOMOFO location! I've come several times now, and I like stopping by either for a meal or even if it's just for a drink or a little snack when I'm in the area. For drinks, my go-to has been their Blueberry Matcha! It's so yummy! I've also discovered a new favorite, the Mint Matcha Latte. It has matcha, oat milk, and muddled mint. Very refreshing, but I wish it came in a larger size as well. I appreciate that all of their drinks have an alternative milk or lactose-free milk! Their food items are so creative! I like the unique, modern take on classic Taiwanese foods! Of course their Popcorn Chicken is always a classic. I wasn't sure if I'd like the Vegetarian Popcorn Chicken, but it's actually really good too! Their Heritage Braised Pork Belly Bowl is also another fave--it's consistently good! It comes with braised pork belly, shiitake mushrooms, mustard greens, soy egg, and fried onions. I've been consistently going back to the Hainan Chicken Tacos. These come with shredded Hainan Chicken, ginger scallion salsa, sweet chili sauce, fried chicken rice, sweet pickled onion, and cilantro on a warm blue corn tortilla. Great combination of textures and flavors. Plus, they're 20% off on Taco Tuesday! The Beef Noodle Soup Sandwich is also super tasty. It really tastes like beef noodle soup in sandwich form! Mapo Tots are a good snack or side option as well. I like that BOPOMOFO offers seasonal menu items, so there's always new food and drinks to look forward to and try! Parking is available in the shared lot of the shopping plaza. It can get pretty full, but I've never had trouble finding a spot. The place is not too big there is one large long table along with two small round tables. They do have one restroom as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. First off, congratulations to Phil, Eric, and everyone else on the Bopomofo Cafe team on their seven-year anniversary. They opened in 2019, but I didn't get around to visiting any of their locations until late 2023, since I live in the Bay Area. The Artesia location was the first one I checked out, and it's the one I've been to the most since then (with San Diego in a close second). The best way I can describe my experience at Bopomofo Cafe is that I feel seen. I grew up straddling the line between two different cultures, and struggled with my identity as a Taiwanese-American. I've grown a lot in embracing that identity since then, and Bopomofo's offerings feel like further affirmation of my ethnic journey. I mainly come to Bopomofo for the food, although I do enjoy the drinks too. I've tried their honey walnut shrimp burger, Taiwanese chicken sandwich, nori fish sandwich, and mapo tots, and I've enjoyed them all. They have a harmonious blend of flavors that touches on both the Taiwanese and American foods I've enjoyed throughout my life. My go-to drink is the blueberry matcha latte, and I've enjoyed the BA-LA matcha and B.O.G. as well. For this Artesia location specifically, it's a nice and chill cafe atmosphere with cool original artwork on the walls and sufficient seating. (I've struggled with finding seating at the San Diego location, but I do what I can.) Every time I make visits back down to SoCal, I make it a priority to stop by Bopomofo Cafe. I'm still holding out hope for a location to open up here in the Bay Area, but until then, I'm happy to continue visiting the existing shops. read more

Been meaning to try Bopomofo but I live in NorCal so haven't had a chance until today! The hojicha latte is less intense than what I'm used to but still kept me up all night. The store is nice and clean, the workers were friendly. The only thing I disliked was that the chairs/stools were backless, but that's just cause I like leaning behind something when I sit, haha. We ordered the Mapo Tots, Spicy Popcorn Chicken, and Taiwanese Fried Chicken sandwich. We didn't order any drinks. The Mapo Tots were SO FREAKING GOOD!! It was a bit on the oilier side, but somehow the tator tots were still so crispy. They put the perfect amount of cheese and green onions to balance out the tots and tofu. The actual mapo flavor was definitely there too...Would 100% order again. The spicy popcorn chicken was delicious as well. It was a bit on the saltier side, but the spices and aioli really brought it altogether. The Taiwanese Fried Chicken was SO DELICIOUS as well. I loved that you're able to choose the cut of meat you want for it online. We ended up going with the breast meat and it did not disappoint. It was so juicy and LEAN and the breading was perfectly crispy. SO GOOD!!! We added a fried egg to the order and it was a solid quick meal that satisfied our cravings LOL. Came here around lunch time and there was no line. Phil Wang was actually there when I went and he brought my food out. It was cool seeing him there helping out. I should've gotten a pic. I got the mapo tots, triple strawberry matcha latte, and the shaken espresso. The mapo tots were what I came here for, per recommendation from my friend, and it was delicious. The tots were crispy and the mapo tofu had good flavor. If I had to comment on anything it would be I wish there was more mapo tofu and cheese on my tots. I really love the concept of Bopomofo bringing a modern take on Taiwanese food and culture to the mainstream, and that they stand for top notch ingredients and make everything in house. TL;DR: Quality of food and drinks are great, and the service is exceptional, but it's definitely at one of the highest price points. DRINKS: 5/5. My favorite drink to order is the BALA matcha. If you love guava, you have to try it. It's a bit on the sweeter side but a great balance of sweet and earthy, and perfect for a hot summer day. They also have really tasty non-caffeinated options like the HEY sesame milk, strawberry corn milk, and taro sweet milk. The only drink I found underwhelming was the hoji-corn latte. Kinda those fried shrimp balls you can eat at dimsum. Heritage Braised Pork Belly: 3.5/5. This is their lu rou fan. I really wanted to love it, but I couldn't with the like 1:8 meat to rice ratio. That said, that IS how they often serve it in Taiwan haha (authentic?). But for the price, I was hoping for some more meat. At least there was enough pork fat/oil to flavor all the rice? I was also disappointed that they chose a long grain rice instead of short grain. Taiwanese are all about the QQ!! The texture comes out mushy, rather than chewy, and I felt it didn't pair as well with the sauce. THE EGG, however, was 10/10!!! Braised, jammy, and yet served WARM! So rare not to get a cold marinated jammy egg like most ramen places. SERVICE: 5/5. They have exceptional service, which is unheard of for a boba place. They give good recs, are patient, and apologize for the sometimes long waits, and if you don't like your drink or the sweetness is off, they'll happily remake it for you. PRICE: 2/5. My only gripe about Bopomofo. Their drinks are already on the highest end of the boba price range, and then they charge tax on top of it, so even for a regular sized drink, you can easily come out of the store with an $8+ drink. They also don't have a rewards program. Because of that, it can never be my go-to every day boba fix, and I usually only come for the flavors that would be hard to find at other shops. For example, 7 Miles tea lab next door is slightly cheaper, also good quality tea, and doesn't charge tax! The line is always reasonable if you're not coming at a super peak hour. Same thing for parking. There some seating, but I wouldn't bank on getting a seat since it's usually busy. Plus it's loud, not super comfortable, and you're surrounded by people waiting for their orders. If you need longer catchup time, I recommend the outdoor seating options in the BCD plaza outdoor. First time trying their Artesia location! I ordered the hey sesame milk and Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich. I'm so glad they had the sesame milk as they can run out fast because of the process of making it. It was so good! It had a nice sesame flavor and wasn't too sweet. As for the Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich, it took a while for them to make but it was worth the wait. I love how fresh the bread was, definitely high quality. I've been wanting to try bopomofo for so long, I feel like it's always been so hyped up. And when I came to California, this was one of the spots I knew I had to visit. Sadly, I was kind of underwhelmed. The servers were sooo nice, so the experience there was still good. And I love that they were doing certain deals like, getting a free drink with certain menu options when it's raining out. (Because the prices were quite pricey!) But I think I just expected more from the food. The popcorn chicken was kind of dry, in my opinion. But to be fair, they had run out of dark meat. So it was just the white meat. But then again, we were there on a Friday afternoon, so we were kind of surprised to hear they had run out. But, the flavors were all there. The honey walnut shrimp burger was what I was most excited for. And while it was a really good fried shrimp burger, it didn't really give me honey walnut shrimp vibes. It just tasted like shrimp with like a wasabi mayo. It was really filling though! As for the drinks, we were still not impressed. Since we were using the free drink deal, we were limited to the basic options. Part of me is like, ok usually people hype up the specialty drinks, maybe that's why these are disappointing. But then another part of me is like, but the basics should be amazing too! I wasn't a big fan of the flavor of the honey roasted ooling milk tea. And I just wish it was creamier, because it was more on the watery side. read more

4.5 stars. This is such a beautiful and authentic cafe! My favorite is the roasted oolong milk tea, but their other milk teas are great as well. The boba is just the right texture and flavor, and the service is always super friendly and prompt. Once I requested an adjustment on my drink, and they offered to either adjust it or make me a different drink that I might like better. This is exceptional service, and really sets them apart in my mind in terms of customer service. read more

I heard about Bopomofo for awhile and finally got to try it! I ordered the strawberry corn milk with boba and it was surprisingly good. A bit weird at first cause ...corn...right? But it grows on you and the hint of strawberry compliments it really well even though it's very subtle. It's not just muddle strawberry, but more of a strawberry sorbet so it didn't mix in immediately. The boba was soft and chewy, but not overcooked. The wait time was pretty long for two drinks. If time wasn't a factor next time,I would definitely come back and try their food as I have heard positive things about their food more than their drinks at this location. read more

Lovely cafe out in Artesia!! I absolutely love the drinks and snacks here. For drinks I recommend the hey sesame milk and the corn milk (if you're a corn lover). I've tried all the food items and they're all delicious! A surprising personal favorite of mine was actually the vegetarian popcorn chicken. The sauce paired very well with the chicken and it was cooked to a perfect crisp. Staff is super friendly as well!! Pretty limited seating inside but there are some outdoor tables if it does get busy. Highly recommend checking them out!! read more
