I had driven past this place countless times and finally decided to give it a try. Since it's right by my house, I can honestly say I'll be back. I ordered the all-day hibachi with steak and fried rice, with a side of banana pancakes. The banana pancakes absolutely stole the show. They were hands down some of the best banana pancakes I've ever had. It's surprisingly difficult to find places that actually mix real banana pieces into the batter, but these did, and they were incredibly fluffy and practically melted in your mouth. I'll definitely be ordering them again. The fried rice was also really good and flavorful. The steak was probably my least favorite part of the meal. It wasn't bad, but I personally would have liked a little more seasoning. My friend ordered the crab omelet and said it was absolutely delicious, and the chai tea latte was a great addition to the meal. One thing that surprised me was the ordering process. I was expecting traditional table service, but instead you order at the counter when you walk in. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just different from what I expected. What did catch me off guard was being prompted to leave a tip before receiving any service. Maybe I'm old school, but in a counter-service setting, I'm not always sure what the tipping expectations are. The restaurant got very crowded shortly after we placed our order, and the line at the counter started to build up. It actually made me wonder whether having servers take orders at the table would help things flow a little more smoothly during busy periods. I'm not sure if it would make a difference, but it was something I found myself thinking about while watching the crowd grow. That said, the staff was friendly, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and it's easy to see why this place stays busy. Went around 12:30pm and it was super packed when we got there. We ordered the California burritos, 2 loco mocos, kalua pork Benedict (subbed the house fried potatoes for tater tots), and the macnut French toast. The French toast was my favorite. Crispy, flavorful, and really good. The tater tots with the Benedict were also a great swap and went really well with everything. I do wish there was a bit more hollandaise sauce on top of the eggs, but the food was still okay overall. The pancakes' description and photos sounded so good, but they ended up being very disappointing. There's banana mixed into the batter, but the banana flavor didn't come thru. The sauce is a creamy white sauce that was very neutral in flavor. I ended up still using the table syrup to sweeten the dish up. My daughter really enjoyed her burrito! This spot is located across the street from Cerritos mall. It's order at the register and they'll bring out your food. There's a good amount of tables that are spread out. It felt a bit cluttered though. I got to try the California omelette, breakfast burrito, and the Oreo pancake. The California omelette was good, but nothing too special about it. There's also a little outside seating. Everything we got was really good: - chicken Katsu plate sub fried rice. Rice was really good. Katsu sauce was a little spicy - egg burrito with Kalua pork. Wish it had been a little warmer when we got it and there was 1 lonely strawberry on top -- definitely not what the picture showed - meat lovers omelette with buttermilk pancakes. A lot of meat! It's been a minute since I've been here again and one thing I can definitely say is that it's a great little spot for some island comfort food. Their ice mocha latte is what I think of in my head whenever I order ice mocha anywhere, and I can never accept anything less. So chocolatey you forget it's coffee. Ube pancakes: definitely on the sweeter side, but didn't need additional syrup. The creamy ube spread and coconut flakes did all the work and the top pancake soaked it up nicely while the bottom one picked up the overflowing topping on the sides. Must have to split. There was a lot that I wanted to try; however, my wife and I opted to get a loco moco ($14) with hamburger meat as our entree and I went with their Guava Toffee French Toast ($14). My wife got a cup of coffee for $4.25 and I got a cup of POG for $5. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meal and there are plenty of things here that we still would love to try. My french toast dish was interesting as they had a guava sauce over my french toast that was made crispy with a crust from ground down captain crunch cereal. It was creative. My wife's loco moco had a nice savoriness; however, I felt the rice to meat ratio was a little too heavy on the side of the rice. We came at peak time on a Saturday and they were very busy. You have to seat yourself and it wasn't easy. Most patrons in line ordered their food to go. Service was friendly; however, dining in wasn't the best experience. Food was served as soon as the kitchen plated the dishes, so there was a 10+ minute gap between when I got my french toast and my wife got her loco moco. And coffee was just sugary milk. I couldn't taste any espresso in it. The kids liked the sausages though. They have to go bags and boxes for you to help yourself. We ordered the brekkie tator tots to share ( saw the portion size on someone's table prior to ordering and was huge) . I also got a spam masubi myself. Like the short wait time during the AM rush, the time waiting for my to go order was quick! My food was ready in under 10 minutes. The spam masubi tasted as I expected and had some sort or sweet sauce on it. The brekkie tator tots came loaded with eggs, bacon, Portuguese Sausage and shredded cheddar cheese and some sort or cheese drizzle. Everything was delicious and the one order was more than enough for two people. Every staff I encountered was very friendly while waiting I stopped a couple in passing to ask questions about the menu while deciding what to get. Although they were busy they still were helpful to answer my question. Lots of seating inside and some outside, but due to their popularity seats were all filled. Then the rib eye loco moco came out. My boyfriend's brother said the ribe eye was tough, and hard to chew/cut. It was overcooked and had the consistency of rubber. Luckily, we were able to return it and got a regular loco moco with a hamburger patty. I was able to taste this and it was very flavorful! I was the last to get my brekkie tater tots. If we didn't ask for them to check on it I probably wouldn't have gotten it. When I got my food, it was a bit cold. This meal has cheese on it and when I got it the cheese was melted but hard, as if it was just sitting out waiting to be served. It was good, but I wish it was warmer/hotter when I got it. I didn't want to return it cos then I'd have to wait again. But it was better when I took it home and warmed it up. The place was very busy and it was hard to finish a seat. The food itself was good. My kalua pork omelet was ok, the macadamia nut waffle was ok but the nuts seemed old and rancit. My mom had the corned beef hash, eggs and rice (2 scoops) and she said it was really good. Me sister had the kalua pork chiliquilas and said it was good and had some good heat. 2nd timer here! We came early and not crowded yet, very chill! Ordered the loco moco with corned beef rather than the traditional beef patty. It was good, not great. The gravy was a little too salty for my liking but the ube coconut pancakes??? Let me tell you about this pancake! I took one bite and immediately forgot my name, my responsibilities, and at least three passwords. This pancake is purple because it KNOWS it's better than everything else on the plate. It's fluffy in a way that feels illegal. Sweet, but not "toothache sweet"--more like "why am I emotional right now?" sweet. Every bite had me nodding aggressively like, yes... correct... continue. A true gem with a taste of Hawaii. It's an order and then sit down place. The restaurant wasn't too crowded and lots of space to move around. We love the outdoor seating because it was a great sunny day to enjoy the outside. 1. UBE Pancake - 5* - not sweet and very favorable 2. California Omelete with Home Fries - 4* 3. Came here for Sunday breakfast. I would recommend getting here before ten to beat the brunch crowd. It's self seating and the line at the counter is fairly quick. They have an extensive menu so tough decisions will be made. We ordered ube pancakes, captain mac nut, and blueberry n cream waffle for our mains. For sides, we got spam musubi, fried rice, and portuguese sausage. Ube Pancakes- As an ube girly, these are my favorite! The pancakes are soft and fluffy and the ube sauce is rich and creamy. Topped with coconut flakes that add a layer of texture. Captain Mac Nut- This is a nice crunchy french toast! You get a lovely crisp outside and light soft inside with a hint of macadamia flavor. Blueberry N Cream Waffle- The waffle was crispy outside with a soft interior. They give you a generous amount of blueberries and the whipped cream enhances the flavors. Spam Musubi- Such a classic! Meaty and savory spam meets fluffy rice. Enveloped with seaweed wrap. Fried Rice- This was nice and soft with a generous amount of fried garlic and onions. Perfectly seasoned and tasty. Aloha Stacks is a must try family favorite offering hawaiian breakfast and lunch. Famous for their pancakes and Loco Moco everything here warrants a re-order on your next visit. This location offers superb service and attentive servers who keep the place spotless. There is plenty of parking as its located in the cerritos shopping centre where target is located. I highly recommend entering from target as parking is a warzone especially during peak hours. There's another thing to say about some of the patrons that frequent Aloha Stacks but I will not let them deter a great rating; just avoid the volcom/billabong wearing posers. read more
