Went to this cafe a couple days ago ; it's so chill. A nice whole in the wall. The selection of drinks was pretty big & reasonably priced. And I got my drink fairly quick. I got a cookie butter latte which tasted amazing . When I'm in Cerritos this will definitely be my go to spot.
Delicious Ube bread pudding & Ube cheesecake!! I had Cafe 86 a long time ago in Pasadena. I have only tried their drinks tho. During the visit here, I was able to try their goodies and drink. The $3 drinks options were awesome. We ordered the jasmine calamansi. It was so good and refreshing. Would totally get it again. My friend got the Ube cheesecake. I tried a bit. It was soooo good. I wanted more but too shy to get more hahha The Ube bread pudding warmed up was super delicious. I was told that it was one of the best. I agree! It included Ube ice cream. Could get it on the side or on top of the bread. Not a big fan of the Ube ice cream. Will definitely try other items. Was a bit sad that the flan Ube and turon pop tart was sold out. Gonna try to get it next time =]

This is one week old review. It was on our list to try since I love halo halo. This place actually deserve 3.5 stars but since overall experience is positive, it round up to 4. The place is small but cozy and they have a giant couch in the middle for lounging. The price is high compare to other places, with the exception of their daily special tea. Their tea is actually cheap. I love love the jasmine calamonsi tea, so refreshing for $3. The halo halo was overwhelmed with ice cream, need more of other ingredients. The monster oreo shake was delicious but it is not worth it for that price. The ube flan cupcake was just ube cupcake and flan stack on top. It kinds of lacking the cohesiveness. Overall, I would come back just for that tea.
We were looking for afternoon coffee and came across this cafe. The menu looked amazing and we could not decide what we wanted to order. So we decided to go with Calamansi cooler and the Ube milk tea with oatmilk for the drink. They were delicious. We also ordered the Leche flan ube cheesecake and it was teally good. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. The decor is pretty. Pretty good space and seating. I think the price is fair as well. We will need to try other drinks and baked goods next time. Actually have to try their coffee or maybe the Milo milk tea. Very impressed with this cafe.

Drawing inspiration from ube, the signature purple yam featured in many traditional Filipino desserts, the couple transformed a cultural favorite into a modern culinary experience. Through creative desserts and innovative recipes, Cafe 86 has helped introduce Filipino flavors to a broader audience while staying true to its roots and heritage. My wife had heard many good things about this place. She's Filipina so we had to check it out for research purposes lol. And of course, we had to order their Filipino's iconic dessert, Halo-Halo. (Ask for the upside down version!) Their rendition is very similar to the traditional one, since it has ube ice cream, jellies, jackfruit and flan. Their spin on halo-halo is that they serve it as milkshake beverage with toppings instead of having shaved ice drenched in condensed/evaporated milk. It also missing a few of the essentials ingredients ( beans, sweet plantains, and coconut sport). But overall, not bad at all. Very refreshing on a hot day! It's good on its own way, but just make sure you mix-mix it up to enjoy the full flavors of the dessert.
I had this place bookmarked for so long, not sure why I never made it in until today! After dinner, my friend and I were looking for dessert options nearby and he mentioned Cafe 86 had a delicious "cupcake thing". Then I remembered I've been wanting to try this place, so we decided to grab our post meal sweets here. We ordered 2 flan cupcakes, 1 crack cheesecake and 1 regular upside down halo halo. Everything was so good. I devoured the halo halo and the cupcake. I will need to eat the cheesecake tomorrow, but based on how good the other two were, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the cheesecake just as much. Now that I know what I've been missing out on, I'll be coming in as much as I can here on out lol.
Finally!! I have heard so much and have craved Halo Halo. Pretty busy on a Friday mid afternoon. Lots of food traffic with majority of customers coming for Halo Halo or drinks. The mini Upside Down Halo Halo was the perfect size and wasn't like a mini at all lol. Had a taste of brown sugar, included boba, jellies, scoop of ice cream, the Corn Flakes, flan. The cupcakes still taste good after 2 days. Texture and taste didn't change at all. Milo Cupcake: Buttercream reminded me of Milo on point. Ube Leche Flan Cupcake: Omg the taste of the Ube was Soo good and still moist. The flan on top made it extra yummy.
I've visited this place before, and I'm always impressed by their consistency! My go-to order is the ube muffin topped with flan, paired with a large original Halo Halo on the side. We arrived around 12:50 PM, and luckily, they had just opened at 12:30 PM. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by an employee, and it was nice to have the place to ourselves for a couple of minutes until more customers arrived. Their menu is packed with a delightful variety of drinks, desserts, and sweet treats to choose from! I'll definitely be back soon to try their crinkle cookies and explore even more of their offerings. Definitely check them out! Keep in mind there's only about 2 tables and 2 couches (:
Checked out this spot today and it did not disappoint. I typically don't like anything too too sweet and this place was right up my alley. Everything we tried was good. Jasmine Calamansi, Ube crinkle, Ube + flan cupcake and the Ube butter bar.
This place is pretty cool! It's on the smaller side, but it has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in.It was my first time trying ube, so I wanted to play it safe and order something more subtle. I got the Monster Thai Tea, which I'd rate about a 6/10. The ube flavor wasn't very strong, and the milk and Oreo flavors overpowered the drink. Unfortunately, the boba didn't taste very fresh either. I also tried the ube truffle coated with oreo pieces, and that was actually really pretty good! I'd give it an 7.5/10. My daughter thought differently though she absolutely loved it and gave it a 9/10. Fun fact if you check in on the yelp, they give you a free hibiscus tea pretty big size for it to be free but honestly, I have no flavor. I still enjoyed it since I like plain tea but no flavor. The real star of the visit was the ube cheesecake. Let me tell you, that cheesecake was SO delicious! It was creamy, flavorful, and honestly one of the best things I tried there. It was around $6, and while it was pretty small for the price, the taste definitely made up for it. I'd come back just for the cheesecake alone.The employees were also incredibly sweet and helpful. Since I had never tried ube before, they took the time to explain what it was and gave me recommendations. I appreciated that they helped me choose pastries and made me feel comfortable trying something new. I enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back to try more items from their menu. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and while not everything was a hit for me, there were some standout items that made the experience worth it.

The café vibe is very casual and good for catching up with family/friends. The Ube desserts were very yummy. We tried the Ube butter bar, Ube truffle, and Ube cracked cheesecake. Last time I had Ube poptart. The Ube flavor is Rich. The desserts are not too sweet. Definitely good sweetness for Asian parents. Also, the purple color and aesthetic is very nice. Would come again when I'm in the area.
My favorite place to visit whenever I am closed the City of Cerritos. Cafe 86 sell the most delicious Ube drinks, snacks pasties. One of my favorite is the their Ube Upside Down, Halo Halo. Service is superb and friendly. Sitting area was perfectly setup for short stop snacking... very casual inviting setting. Perfect for everyone to sit, relax and enjoy ube halo halo
Quick and delicious! Small cafe in the back of the plaza - minimal seating if you wanted to hangout. Halo halo or upside down halo halo is the best here!!! The ube bar and crinkle cookies are so good, wish I got more. The jasmine calamansi was alright but I probably would just get the calamansi cooler next time read more
Another after dinner dessert outing and we come he for their Halo Halo. It's not traditional but I like it here since I can't have the traditional halo halo with all the beans. It was nice to learn that they offer both kinds of halo halo in the smaller size. The only new surprise is now they charge extra to change the vanilla ice cream to the Ube ice cream. So this time we went with the original which comes with the Ube ice cream. It was nice they still let us eat in, but as soon as it hit 9:00pm, they went out from the back and told us they were closed and sort of pushed us out as fast as they were able to. read more

Tried their Mini Classic Halo! It was good & I loved the ube ice cream. Definitely giving them props for the unique, creative concept! Enjoyed it, but probably not something I'd come back for over and over again. read more
First time visiting Cafe 86 with family for dessert! It's a tiny Cafe serving Filipino flavored desserts, coffee, teas, smoothies, and sandwiches. On a Sunday afternoon post lunch, there were just a few customers present. Our party of 5 was fortunate to get seats together. The turon pop tart caught my attention but I decided on something familiar which was a scoop of ube ice cream. Smooth, creamy and delicious! Fam members that got the same thing agreed. My cousin did get the turon pop tart but thought it's just okay. The gal at the counter that took our order was pleasant. There are brick walls and some Star Wars decor. The disability parking spaces were not close by in the plaza and already occupied. We managed okay parking in a regular spot that was next to a delivery/pickup spot that was clear. As far as regular parking spots, there were many on a Sunday afternoon. The plaza has a Market, a bakery, a restaurant, and shops nearby. I found out there is actually another Cafe 86 closer to me. This is a Cafe that I would introduce out of town family members to. 4 stars! read more

I visited Cafe 86 after being told that another Cafe 86 had some of the best and most authentic halo halo out here. The store itself is small and well-designed like a cool place to grab some drinks and desserts with a group of friends. The person working there was nice and made our halo halo quickly and well. Unfortunately, the halo halo was not very authentic and was very brown sugar heavy. I thought it was just ok. read more

We love halo-halo and decided to try a new place. Well... Café 86 definitely didn't disappoint! It was so good! The service was fast and friendly, and the café has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. There are plenty of tables, and you can even relax on one of their comfortable sofas. Judging by how busy it was on a Friday evening, we're clearly not the only ones who love this place! We were in the area and decided to stop by. We ordered the ube cake, ube ice cream and halo halo. Honestly the cake was super sweet, I knew it would be but it was sweeter than I expected. The ice cream was really good, I enjoyed it. My fiancé ordered the halo halo and he loved it. He said it was really good, nothing was overpowering. Staff was also kind and helpful. We weren't able to sit inside though because space was limited. read more
Came here last Sunday for dessert after lunch at Daniela's to introduce my long-lost pinay friend to Cafe 86. I have posted reviews for the other locations in Chino and Tustin, I really love this place. Cafe 86 specializes in Ube, and they do it exceptionally well. The vibrant purple color is just as appealing as the taste. If you're looking for unique and delicious Filipino-inspired treats, especially those featuring ube, this is definitely the spot to check out. My faves are the Ube Butter Bar, Ube Truffle and Ube Leche Flan Cupcake. I've also tried and recommend the Ube Latte for those who prefer no caffeine. It was a perfect day to try their signature Halo Halo and it did not disappoint. I even love the frosted flakes in it (instead of pinipig) and all the ingredients that came with it. Great overload of ube this place is great if you Ube. They have a great version of Halo Halo. And a upside down version of it such is my favorite. They have many Filipino deserts. From drinks to baked goods. It's a cozy place inside and ever so often Jokoy comes in. And he has done some meetups But besides that the desserts are amazing. It is always a bit busy. But they work fast. Fair warning. Don't come here if you are on a diet. This place will wreck you it's so delicious. You will be back soon. It's a great place to go to after dinner. I've been coming to this location for years. Parking is always tight as they share it with multiple businesses but I just love coming to support Cafe 86 and the Luisa and Son's bakery next door. Everyone is usually really friendly here but the drinks are always on point and you're able to make modifications. Ube everything pastries are located here. The pastries actually taste like the ube it claims in their titles haha. Their ube leche flan cupcakes are one of their most popular- but my personal top two favorites are the ube butter bar, ube truffles and the ube cheesecake. I have yet to give their pop tarts a try. They also have a few non ube treats like Milo (chocolate) cupcake and a mais (corn) bar. Their halo halo upside down is one of my favorites on a hot summer day and if I have a sweet tooth on a particular day I will ask to top it with ube ice cream for an ube overload haha. They have two tables that are a four top- and two stool tables against the windows that hold three people. Two additional couches on the side for casual catch up or solo dates. Seating is tight here so I can't necessarily say it's a good study spot but I'd say it's an option since they do have wifi. Bathroom is a hit or miss at this location as they're usually busy and don't upkeep it. read more

My hubby and I LOVE getting a treat after we grab dinner at Garlic and Chives, next door. We literally order the same thing each time, which is pretty much one a week-an ube crinkle (hubby's fave), ube truffle (my fave), and the ube monster shake (BOMB, we both love)! The service is fast, staff friendly and helpful if you want suggestions. We like chillin on the couches while enjoying our treats. We also love the California (where I was born) license plate and Minnesota (where my hubby was born) license plate decor. All in all, a cute spot with delicious treats!!! read more

The BEST cafe in town! Anytime I step into cafe 86 I instantly feel very welcomed. Customer service is definitely top tier. Drinks taste impeccable, food is of great quality, and wait times are no longer than 20 minutes (even if it's busy). I genuinely could not recommend this place enough! I would recommend the Ube monster and halo halo upside down. read more

The food here is definitely worth the 5 stars but I had to deduct one for the service. Came in on a Tuesday around 6pm and ordered 2 upside down halo-halo and although the place was not packed, we were not greeted or even acknowledged because the employees were too busy giggling with each other. We were standing in front of the cashier for a good few minutes before they asked us if we were ready to order. read more

Cute little spot if you love Ube. All sorts of bakery, desserts, coffee, and drinks containing Ube. I had ordered a Ube latte. My first time trying it. Have to say it was very tasty! Sweet and settled to perfection to my taste. Service was quick with little wait time. Would like to revisit to try out other items on the menu. read more

Best time to visit with compact parking in this plaza?
Weekday mornings and early afternoons are definitely the best times for easier parking! Evenings and weekends get pretty busy. Hope to see you soon!

As of now the closest to gluten free may be the ube cheesecake but don't eat the crust lol. I'd ask them if the feeling has any wheat in it.
