Today, I brought one of my girlfriends with me and she ordered the strawberry matcha with cream top. She instantly loved it! She let me try as well and wow, it's delicious! Not too sweet and had a perfect balance of flavors! I highly recommend it! Again, get their sweet corn matcha when you go! That's a must. It's always busy when I go but the line moves quickly. This place use to be very good. However, I don't know if it underwent some sort of managerial change or ownership but service has been lacking for a few months now. So much so I took a break from it went back and it was confirmed yet again. Service was lively and polite before now I go in and have to say hello three times before I get one back. Coffee use to be delicious and now I'm lucky if I get any, too heavy on the milk. I use to be able to order ahead and now that's not available or it's pushed out an hour or more, if they're super busy I'd understand but I've arrived at the shop and empty, so that's crazy to me!!l The place itself seems to get a new look every time and mood is nice but service and drinks have taken a hit. I heard a lot about homeboy from friends and occasionally got delivered orders in the past, but this was my first time at the café. Drinks (4/5): - I ordered an iced Matcha latte with vanilla sweetener, it was definitely good but did not taste like Matcha. - Based on what the menu said, I was under the impression that the Matcha latte comes originally unsweetened which is why I asked the barista for recommendation on sweetener to which they replied vanilla. - Now again, maybe this was my misinterpretation of the menu, but the receipt did say vanilla and then separately three pumps of sweetener. So next time, maybe I will do a better job inquiring about the drink and the menu. - Still a good drink that I enjoyed but definitely not much flavor of Matcha. Interior (4/5): - A pretty typical café layout with average space that is utilized well to create seating. - Many 1/2 seater tables in the café and outside as well. - My only critique was the volume of the music. I was at the café to do some reading and work, but even through my headphones with noise canceling, I was able to still hear the music and the bass. I felt that with that volume of music, it would have been hard to even have a conversation, but I can't say for sure because that's not what I was there for. Service (5/5): - Solid and standard service overall! I came at a time, when it seemed they had a lot of drinks in the queue, but didn't have to wait too long. My friend and I were looking for a new matcha/coffee shop to go and get some work done. Homeboy had quite a few tables with outlets and when we entered there were already a handful of people lounging and/or working. They had a variety of music playing from pop to r&b and even some catchy filipino songs. And it was at a good volume where I didn't feel distracted from my work. For drinks, I ordered the sweet corn cream matcha ($7) and my friend ordered the ube matcha latte ($6). We both asked for oat milk sub and it was an additional $1. Both drinks had just the right amount of sweetness but the matcha flavor itself was missing for me. I did slightly prefer the corn over the matcha. The drinks were iced but we received them warm and even after waiting for the ice to melt, the drink never got cold and maybe that is what created some kind of lack of taste for me. It truly pains me to write this review. This used to be my go-to place to get my caffeine fix. I would come here at least three times a week. It was so much that we would reach free drink status pretty quickly. I would grab an Ube matcha with oat milk for me and a cold brew latte with a shot of espresso and oat milk for my partner. We both would also order the waffles. It was a great little breakfast on the go. And service was top notch--pleasant and quick. The quality of the drinks was consistently great! Plus ordering it all online made it super convenient. Lately, there appears to be a shift at Homeboy Coffee. My drinks have had issues with them (i.e., no coconut syrup, watered down, wrong milk, less espresso shot than previously). Now, the waffle is not available for purchasing through their online ordering system despite them available in the store. Overall, Homeboys is okay. It isn't what it used to be which is sad especially because i loved it...especially their Ube matcha latte and waffles. I hope this is a temporary shift and that the OG Homeboy comes back. read more

It's a really big pet peeve of mine to go to a coffee shop and order less ice and then they give me significantly less drink. This is my first time at homeboy coffee. I ordered a batch brew but they told me they stopped serving it at 11 AM, so I ordered an Americano with easy ice instead. Nobody told me a third of the drink would be missing. Are they really losing much money on me to just fill the plain coffee? There's not even milk in my coffee so it's not like they're using many resources. The drink was seriously only 2/3 of the way full if not slightly less (see pics) and that just doesn't sit right with me. Got to visit this cafe on a Sunday afternoon and I loved my experience here! Plaza has plenty of parking, interior has a lot of seating, and the music playing was top tier. It's clean, spacious, and well-lit. The staff was friendly and patient with recommendations during my first visit there. So far, Ive had the Sweet Corn Cream Latte and Sweet Corn Cream Matcha and they were both delicious! I would say their corn cream was creamier and tastier than the one that Bopo offered. I can't wait to try their other menu items! Very aesthetic, bustling cafe on a Sunday afternoon. My husband and I dropped by here because he was really feeling coffee, haha. We got the homeboy cold brew latte and a hot homeboy latte. Both drinks were execellent! Great coffee flavor, with barely any bitterness detected. I know this is blasphemy, but I typically like sugary lattes over ones where the coffee flavor is more pronounced mainly because there's some leftover bitterness that I do not enjoy. However, I really liked the coffee here. I could taste the distinctive coffee flavor of both drinks without that bitterness I dislike. Husband also really liked both drinks and found them really smooth. The interior is super clean, and there's a lot of seating and a tad bit crowded, but I really liked the atmosphere of this place. There's a medium amount of parking as it's a part of a mid sized plaza and we had no issues grabbing a spot. The corn flavor is super strong without overpowering the coffee and the cream top gives the drink a nice smooth texture. Stopped in really for a pick me up. My cold brew was just right. The foam wasn't too sweet and the cocoa powder on top was a nice touch. Oh! I also noticed they totally remixed the aesthetic. And vibes were vibing! They swapped out the industrial look for a much more warm and organic look. From the plants to the artwork, this look definitely gives cozy. The interior has a contemporary, clean design with plenty of seating inside, which makes it a comfortable spot to relax for a bit without feeling crowded. I ordered the yuzu matcha tonic, and it was delicious -- bright, refreshing, and a nice change from the usual coffee or matcha drinks. Definitely something I would order again. I am already planning to come back to try more of their menu. Service was quick, friendly, and not pushy at all, even when they asked if I wanted to join their membership points program. Ok finally gave this place a second chance because everyone keeps raving about it. I'm glad I did because they have good coffee! I don't know if that was because they just opened the first time we went but this time around, so much better! The homeboy latte I enjoyed and having oatmilk in it is a huge plus for me! Came here for the first time. I ordered the matcha with a spritzer and my friend ordered a matcha latte. When we both got our order and tried it, we both weren't sold on the taste of what we ordered. She felt her matcha latte was too sweet and I felt my matcher with the spritzer was too tangy. We each took a sip of the other's drink and decided we like the other's so we traded. Haha. The match quality was ok. I wouldn't say it was the best, and I've had way better in Japan. The place was super busy and seeing so many customers appeared to be the spot to be at. Absolutely love this place! Tried two drinks, their Homeboy Coffee and the Ube Matcha Latte (both half sweet) and both were amazing. The Homeboy Latte was so flavorful (I'm not even sure what's in it, but I'd honestly come all the way back to Artesia just for this). The Ube Matcha Latte was also incredible. You can really taste both the ube and the grassy matcha. The flavors were strong, balanced, and not altered by their sweetner. The service was great also! They helped adjust my drink to be less sweet and explained the ingredients (though I totally forgot what they said ). I finally got the drink and it's pretty good. Not too bad. I can see why everyone love it. Then I came back earlier today for a different latte. This time I opted for one of their signature drink........ Homeboy Cold Brew Latte. Who doesn't love cold brew? It's the best kind of coffee you can get. I mean really, Homeboy got the best cold brew in town. I really love their cold brew here. It's soooo good. Oh, and it was made by some Homegirl. This is the spot to get your latte fix in this town. Homeboy Coffee USED to be one of my favorite cafés, and they had one of my favorite matchas. I originally started going about two years ago, and what I loved most was that their matcha was delicious without being overly sweet. It didn't taste like it needed to be packed with sugar to be enjoyable. From what I remember, they used to make it with just matcha, milk, water, and a little maple syrup, and it was genuinely so good. Unfortunately, over the past couple of months, I've noticed the quality decline tremendously. I even invited a friend to try the café because I loved their matcha so much, only for us to be disappointed by how watered down it tasted. The last few times I've gone, it's been the same experience: barely any matcha flavor, mostly just milk. It's no longer the delicious, rich matcha I remember. Today was unfortunately the final straw. I ordered another matcha, and this time it had a very noticeable eggy/off taste that I've never experienced from them before. It was really nasty. I can't say for certain that the milk was spoiled, but the flavor was unusual enough that I didn't feel comfortable finishing it. Unfortunately, I was already about 20 minutes away from the café by the time I noticed since I didn't take a sip until I got home. It genuinely makes me sad to write this because this place used to be one of my favorites.
