On a Sunday in October, I took hubby to Sizzler to eat cheese toast and chicken wings. At 11:30am, the small parking lot was almost full and found a spot. The place was filled of people eating their lunch. This time I ordered cheeseburger combo no salad bar to save room for dinner. We sat in the back closer to the restrooms. JJ loves steak and had a craving for one, so we came for lunch. I don't think we had been here since before the pandemic-- we used to enjoy coming here from time to time. Sadly, the steak was way over cooked and hard, and JJ found it to be inedible. But, our server was very nice and understanding. After taking one bite, JJ informed our server that he couldn't eat it, and asked if he could exchange it for something else. The server was very nice and said yes. So JJ got the fried shrimp plate in exchange for the steak. I ordered the hamburger with fries. It was okay only..: on the dry side. Hubby and I stopped at the Sizzler after finding it on Yelp. It reminded me of a much smaller version of Holden Corral. As you enter, you'll see the digital menus on the wall. You pay before you sit down. I chose the full salad bar which was more than enough for me($13). It has everything you need for a complete salad. 3 different lettuce choices, Romain, spinach and ice berg. Eggs, bacon, diced ham, onions, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and carrots. Let's not forget croutons, avocado, sour cream, jalapeños and chili. There was both fried and bbq chicken. Make your own taco. Make your own pasta. There was the potato salad section which also included chicken salad, cranberry sauce, coke slaw, and banana pudding. The dresser section was ice cream with various sprinkle toppings. Hubby ordered the Smokey Bacon Burger. 1/3 lbs all beef topped with cheddar cheese, two slices of bacon and crispy onion straws. Served with a side of hot fries. The staff of the establishment are top notch. Moises waited on us. He honored my request to have extra chess toast because I knew we would eat it all. While we were waiting on our food in a booth. We realized we were at the kids booth because it was unc uncomfortable, Moised found is at our new location. I ordered the grilled salmon and my wife ordered Malibu chicken. When the salmon came it was visibly overcooked and I said I don't know if that would enjoy the meal. my wife ordered Malibu chicken with no ham. Moises felt our disappointment and took both of the plates back to the kitchen. He had the meal replated.Another employee noticed that we had run out of napkins. She asked if she could bring some more napkins to us without being asked. I AM grateful to experience the excellent customer service being provided for us. We felt seen and heard by all the staff. Visited after many years, to my suprise, just went through a remodel. Clean, clean clean, Best service from Julio the cashier & greeter and Lizbeth (liz) (Lisa) our waitress was amazing. This place has been around for ages, but there are only 2 more left from where I live, either on Vermont in Koreatown that is across from a staple homeless encampment, or the one in Montebello. I like coming here with my mom because it reminds me of the good ole days...still enjoy the consistent charcoal taste of their steaks with signature diamond grill marks that I can't quite replicate cooking at home. Their salad bar has evolved from full salad bar to 1-trip-only, back to full salad bar to include a taco and nacho bar with guacamole along with wings. Friendly, nice guy, even came over to our table later to check on us. The waitress LISA, girl YOU ROCK! She is amazing! I am telling you I am telling you...... I know the reason why Sizzlers had to close down so many of their locations... they have a REALLY BAD Process or Operation For Ordering Your Food. I wonder who the nitwit was who came up with this process they have at Montebllo..... when you walk into the restaurant, you have to stand in line behind 20 or more people. Each group is usually made up of at least 4 or 5 people, there might be 4 to 6 groups of people ahead of you. Each group has to place their order with the cashier's, usually they only have ONE cashiers stand open. So, each group takes at least 5 minutes to place their order while you wait standing in line. There are times when I have been standing line for 30 minutes or more (especially on the weekends). Who was the idiot who came up with this process? why not have the customers be seated and place their orders seating down with the waiters like a regular restaurant. I have seen some people leave; I guess Sizzlers likes losing sales. I am sure this happens a lot. They have lost me as a customer. I have tried placing my order online and go pick it up. When you get to the restaurant, the walkway you have to go thru to get to the cashiers is crowded with the stereotypical type of peeps who love buffets..... Big and wide. These individuals block the walkway, and you cannot get to the front to pick up your order. Some of these people refuse to allow you to pass. I have had to get "ghetto" with them. I explain to them that I am only for pick up and have already paid; they all give me dirty looks. I blame the STUPD MANAGEMENT for creating this situation or conflict. There is NO Sign saying, "Pick Up Customers - Go to the Front". Today I placed my order and went to pick it up. I had to fight my way thru the herd of buffet hungry individuals. I got to the front and notified one of the supervisors that I was there for pick up. She gave me a dirty look and said to me, "You have to get in the line, you cannot cut line". I yelled back at her, "Are you serious? I have already paid, my food is sitting in the counter, and you want me to wait 20 to 30 minutes in line just to get my bag?" I guess she wants to make sure that my food gets as cold as ice. She begrudgingly grabbed my bag of food sitting behind her and gave it to me. I regret having included a Tip with my order. I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO SIZZLER. With that kind of Business mentality and operation, Sizzler will be a thing of the past in the near future. hey Sizzler, ever heard of Montgomery Ward???? You will meet the same fate. So we drove 1.5 hours to take my mother out for a nice dinner for Mother's Day . We waited over an hour in line which was fine it was expected because of Mother's Day. He said why are you paying for 3 salads and u have an extra person I said my daughter already eat and if she happens to want a fry from my food should I not give it to her . The husb and I figured we would try this location since it's closer to home than the one in Atwater Village/Loz Feliz area. I believe it was being renovated so that's why this location was closed. We went for our usual, we got the salad bar. It was a good selection. I'm usually very picky with foods. But I ate my money's worth in chicken wings. The husb got a little bit of everything, from the pasgheti, the tacos, etc. They did not have corn bread. If you get the salad bar you can also get dessert. The restaurant looked new and clean. Our waiter did seem overwhelmed as it seemed he was the only server working, but he did come often to check up on us, so that was good. But hopefully he gets more support. The restaurant was packed with lots of customers during my late lunch and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The host that took my order was pleasant and I was able to use Apple Pay. Always a plus! I ordered a favorite of mine, Malibu chicken which comes with a baked potato, greasy bread and a salad. All for $13.10! I was happy with the salad, you fix it yourself from the salad bar. Everything at the salad bar looked so fresh. I made a mix of iceberg and Romaine lettuce and added blue cheese dressing. My meal arrived after the salad and came with a good sized potato not those tiny ones wrapped in foil.
