Found a new BBQ spot in Montebello worth trying! Parking was easy on a Sunday afternoon, and our takeout order was ready right when we arrived. The Wagyu brisket was super tender and flavorful; it didn't even need any extra sauce. The baby back ribs were just okay, with some meat falling off the bone while other pieces didn't. I'm normally not a big fan of baby back ribs anyway. For sides, we got the pesto mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and pulled pork fries. Everything was flavorful and pretty heavy. I have to say the pesto to mac and cheese ratio was perfect! The pulled pork fries were a little soggy from the cheese by the time we got home, but still delicious. Good new bbq spot in Montebello. No line, so easy to get a seat, well decorated, bright, makes you feel at ease. Very reasonable price and enticing combos, I got the 2 proteins + 2 sides which was way more than enough food for me. I got the Wagyu Brisket and 1/4 rack baby back ribs for the proteins and tatertots + mashed potatos for the sides. I typically eat a lot, but I could not finish this, they also give you 2 dinner roll breads and some coleslaw. Was in a nearby city at at a restaurant that had a wait of 30+ minutes for 2 so we decided to try a new spot for us. We arrived before 12 so they had just opened. There were so many options to choose from it was really difficult but I landed with the waygu 1/4 pound burger and added fries. The place a large and clean with TVs pretty much on every open wall. This place exceeded my expectations in every single way. First of all, I'm honestly not really a BBQ gal but Southside BBQ can definitely change that. I've been seeing this all over IG and figured I would try it. I did a to go order. You can easily call and order to go. The young lady who answered definitely knew her stuff. I told her I didn't know whether to get the hot links or the wagyu brisket. She recommended the latter, she even mentioned that they bbq their meats for hours! I would have preferred to have discussed the representation made to me of the baby back ribs i received last week but two days ago left message with staff person and never heard from management. The first 5 photos are what i was served which includes a spare rib cut not a baby back rib cut. The last 2 rib photo is from 8 months ago off yelp site. The good part is the food is actually very good. The problem is no one there that day could discuss the ribs. They just continued to represent as baby back and insisting they were pork which was obvious. Both of these rib cuts are good, especially prepared the way Southside prepares the barbecue. The only problem is the fat content on Spare ribs is over the top compared to baby back ribs The wagyu brisket was delicious and not dry either. The lobster mac was good. The potato salad had an interesting non traditional sauce and flavor. The slaw was a small portion but the right amount of dressing. A small amount of bread roll was provided which i used to make a brisket slider. The bread had a sweet not completely hawaiian roll texture. The wall and table painted decor was nice. Tried a new BBQ spot today and it definitely delivered. The baby back ribs were the highlight for me -- packed with flavor and smoked to perfection. Easily my favorite thing on the menu. I also had the brisket burger, which was great. The beef patty was already tasty, and the brisket on top just took it to another level. They offer a good variety of sides too. I went with the mac & cheese and smashed potatoes with gravy, and both were solid comfort-food choices. One thing I thought was really unique was their BBQ potstickers -- a cool twist that actually worked and tasted great. Overall, everything I tried was really good. If I had to pick a least favorite, it would probably be the pork belly, but even that wasn't bad compared to the rest of the meal. This might've topped some of my favorite BBQ spots in the 626 area. The Asian influence in the herb marinated veggies and the pork belly are done so well. The meat is cooked phenomenally and the sliders, tacos, and potstickers are so unique. The only dish I wasn't blown away by was the mac and cheese. The ribs are cooked really well but the mac and cheese itself could've done with a little bit more salt. I like savory food so others will probably not mind. 3/8/2026 Came with a large group all our first time here. I had the 3 item combo with 2 sides. Waygu brisket, pork belly and grilled chicken breast. My sides were Cowboy Beans and veggies. If you're carving for a heavy Texas style BBQ this isn't the place for you. The protein has a lighter flavor I especially liked the Brisket. The chicken and the pork belly needed to be drenched in BBQ sauce it just lacked flavor and seasoning. I wouldn't get the veggies again lacked seasoning, the Cowboy Beans was pretty tasty. I had a lovely experience at Southside BBQ Co (Montebello). I ordered the Wagyu Brisket Burger ($21 - Medium Rare). It's EXTREMELY delicious! I wanted to scream in joy as I bit into its hefty, juicy meat. I felt humbled. With shaky, eager hands I ravished that perfect burger. I felt happy. (Important: Bring cash. There's a 4% additional charge for card.) I arrived at Southside BBQ Co (Montebello) on Friday (around 1:02PM). Parking is easy; the lot had many empty spaces when I'd arrived. Staff (identified as Jack) is professional, diligent, and helpful. Jack provided useful recommendations from the cheese to the BBQ sauce. Jack also maintained a welcoming, kind demeanor during my entire experience. The food arrived in 19 minutes 35 seconds. Personally, this lengthy cook time for one burger is a little worrisome since there were almost no customers during my visit. Still, it was worth the wait. As mentioned, I ordered the Wagyu Brisket Burger ($21 - Medium Rare). It's Wagyu Brisket AND a 1/4 Wagyu Patty; it included big, fluffy brioche buns, cheddar cheese, and caramelized onions. The flavor of fresh, clean beef radiated lovingly. The brisket had a light smoky flavor, and it seductively fell apart in my mouth. The 1/4 wagyu patty reminded me of a juicy meatloaf. It's BIG. Each bite felt euphoric! Regarding ambiance, Southside BBQ Co (Montebello) is gorgeous! The ugly, forgettable exterior hides an almost magical & enchanting interior with vibrant artwork and charming decor. I felt humbled at the effort this new, hidden business held... If it wasn't from a random visit on Yelp, I'd have never discovered it. Southside BBQ Co (Montebello) has about nine huge, sparkly tables. Everything looked shiny & new. The location is well-ventilated, almost chilly. The restroom is in the back corner. There's also loud, fun upbeat music. I also noticed several flat screen televisions, but they were off during my visit. Overall, I found unexpected happiness at Southside BBQ Co (Montebello). It's one of the best hamburgers that I've ever tasted; the satisfaction is comparable to the Gordon Ramsay Burger in Las Vegas while also being cheaper!! It definitely has potential, but it feels like it's still working through some operational kinks. A couple of menu items weren't available (or at least not that day), which made ordering a bit frustrating. I found this gem while searching for highly rated spots near the citadel. It was super close and reasonably priced. It's almost like a sports bar/fast casual dining hybrid, and it's a mom and pop shop/local business. Places like this really deserve the support. Was very disappointed for a bbq place you except smoked bbq flavors got pan cooked chicken, pan reheated hot links, brisket, pulled pork, and pork belly with no barbecue sauce or flavor what so ever.
