I've been wanting to visit Venice Room for a while now, since we live nearby, but we usually have our son with us, and I know it's a 21+ establishment; I even confirmed this with them on the phone. I appreciate places that stay true to their roots. This place does "cook your own steak" - DIY, before it was a thing! Our server, Steve, was great. We went for a belated Valentine's Day date. We avoid the holiday itself because prices are always inflated; as my dad says, we're celebrating on the Orthodox calendar. Venice Room has the best lunch special, served daily until 4 PM. It includes a steak, sides, and dessert. You get a steak in parchment paper, a foil-wrapped potato, garlic toast, and a salad plate. We both ordered the lunch meal special ($23.95). The dessert is vanilla ice cream with blackberry liqueur, whipped cream, and a cherry. You take your salad plate to the salad bar, where you can get all the iceberg salad you want. They have many dressings and sour cream for the potato. You take your steak to the seasoning table and choose from 12-14 seasonings. We used Montreal seasoning, and we both liked it. The seasonings are basic, but a good steak doesn't need much. If you go during an off time, you won't have to wait for the grill, but it can get busy at night and on weekends. I cooked my steak to a perfect medium, 4 minutes per side. My wife loved the lunch steak special and wants to go back soon.

Thanks to Joanna for the awesome service. Make sure to tip her. Will be back again soon. Ambiance is open and yes they got food appetizers.

It's totally divey but that's the charm. Great atmosphere and even better service. Only thing that topped them both was the drinks! They don't skimp on the alcohol but the drinks are very good. Some places don't know how to mix, but the bartender at Venice Room has skilz! Kinda a cool option if you want a steak is they have an open grill that you can use to cook your own steak! But, it your not up for cooking, they'll cook it for you. Best deal is the Bloody Mary/shrimp combo. Be sure to ask!

Venice Room is so fun! We recently had dinner here and had an exceptionally good time. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak ($15.95) with tater tots. The cheesesteak comes with thinly sliced beef, melted Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions. I feared the meat would be chewy, but it was quite tender as a matter of fact. The combination of Swiss cheese and caramelized onions was unexpectedly good. Delish. We also ordered the ribeye steak meal ($34.95). The meal comes with a baked potato, a side salad, and 2 pieces of garlic toast which is an absolute steal. You get a pretty substantial piece of steak for the price. You get to dress to dress up how you please before throwing it on the grill. We kept it simple with salt and pepper and it was perfect. They also offer an insane steak meal for 2 which includes a bottle of wine. And their cocktail list is comically long. They offer 43 cocktails or something lol. We were seated in the dining area, but you can also order food at the bar. The karaoke was just underway when we left. The place has good vibes and good energy. So fun!

They have small parking lot, but there's usually parking available. Always enjoyed coming here. Everyone, including the customers, were always very friendly and approachable. The regulars were welcoming to anyone coming in. Came during game night. They had free hot dogs for everyone. It was fun to grill your own bun and dog. We got the Bloody Shrimp Combo for $22.95. Wasn't a fan of the Bloody Mary as it was too spicy for my taste. The butterfly shrimp was really good and crispy. The fries were amazing and crispy as well. We also got the Asada Quesadilla for $12.95. The quesadillas were alright. The fountain drinks were $3.50. Our waitress was really friendly and checked on us multiple times. We lost track of time as we were having a good time. Good place to hang out and catch up with friends.

I, like many other people, get inundated with food reels. And as much as I try to maintain and keep pace with different spots, I am afraid I do not have enough life in my span of days, to hit them. But I am genuinely grateful that this place stuck in my mind, after watching a reel that I did not save. For you see, my friend Conrad and I, went to Korean Barbecue and he loved it. So I wanted something that gave grilling vibes, without the Korean experience. I called this place and they confirmed that it was indeed the place where you can grill your own steak. I did not need to know much more, Conrad and I went to steak. When I approached the bar, I saw a Venice Canal mural outside. Curious I thought. The mural did not mesh with the idea of steak grilling. I mean, one can imagine grilling on a gondola, in a fantasy way, but in a practical way, I am not seeing how the propane or coal will hold in a vessel of water. We entered, and we saw an old school bar setting, drinks, people, kind of 70s retro bar. That is what I witnessed, but I did not fully absorb the scene, my goal was clear and I was not planning to pair my steak with a martini. The person who I first met, was the star server of this joint--- Erica. Throughout the evening she provided prompt, attentive and courteous service that I honestly feel was exceptional, and made me feel like she understood the purpose of service: to uplift an evening to a standard of delight that reaches the heights of stars. She is a principle reason why I want to go back here again, especially on a weekend day, when the party pops, as Erica explained to me. Conrad and I were the only two patrons in the dining room, which made the steak place, our own. Erica explained how the process works, we ordered a NY steak and another cut, I want to say, I can't remember, but I got that one. Erica explained that most patrons cook their steaks 5 minutes, on each side, for that desired medium well. When we approached to the grilling space, we saw a spice rack. It had salt and pepper of course, and other seasons- like garlic and onion powder. I clipped the selection for one to peruse if they want to take note of the other selections, like Lawry's Salt. Erica explained that I should first add Olive Oil to my steak so the seasonings stick, and I did as she suggested. But I went a bit wild. Then I took salt and pepper, and garlic salt and dressed that steak with seasonings. Then Conrad told me to stop because then my steak would be too salty. He was right. I was not seasoning with a restrained hand, and if my steak came to be to bold with my seasoning, it would be my fault. What can I say, I got excited? Then the grilling began. I know that this might sound wild, but I have never grilled that much in my life but this experienced convinced me that grilling has benefits that I ignored. And to be honest, I did not do much. I just put the steak in the grill, all rubbed with olive oil and the difference spices I placed and flipped it, after 5 minutes and put it on my plate after 5:00 p.m. And when I bit into my steak it had the wonderful taste of char on the lines. I tasted grill marks, not just saw them on my steak. My final dish was composed. I had text bread, which I also grilled. There was a separate section for bread, which Erica pointed out. One section for steak, one section for bread. There was also a salad bar. It was just lettuce, but there was a vareity of dressings. I think at one point, I had more 1000 Island dressing than lettuce. But hey, I liked it. No one told me at the point to use restrain. I also had a baked potato. It was simple, true, but super delicious, like it deserved to be in a league of top tier potatoes. The butter and the sour cream made the potato extremely good. The meal was composed, pleasant and so good, I was in steak house territory for steak hut prices. It was a meal to rave about! Seriously, grilling my own steak, was not only an activity to engage in but also a dream to eat, post. And then we had ice cream for dessert with some strawberry liquor. I ordered a second round of ice cream, and Conrad did not hesitate to jump on the wagon. When I went here I did not expect to enjoy the experience as much as I did! Life is great, because a grill can still surprise me!

I love this place. It's an adult only restaurant, the steak is always fresh! You grill your own steak, and if can catch the timing right it is not a hard task. Service is good, people are very attentive.

Great spot! Definitely definition of a dive bar vibes but well kept and clean Erika was a super friendly waitress Ordered the rib eye special. The price point is great for steak, and easy to cook on the grill The drinks according to the bf is a heavy handed pour (1950s style) For the most part, friendly patrons (except one customer who was super triggered by a benign joke) Great place!

This is a true dive bar!!! The vibe is super casual but the staff will definitely make you feel welcome. They have karaoke which is fun and a GRILL YOUR OWN STEAK for 2 on their menu. Such a unique experience.

Now this is a place I would've normally never visited on my own. We went based on a friend's recommendation. I am so glad I gave it a chance. The crowd is lively and fun and it looks like everyone has a great time there. The bartenders are great and very friendly. I'd love to go back again soon.

A Unique and Cozy Experience at the Venice Room The Venice Room is a hidden gem with a retro vibe that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time--in the best way. The elegant vintage furniture, dim lighting, and intimate layout give the place a cozy, almost secret speakeasy feel. The "make your own steak" concept is fun and interactive, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. The cocktails are well-crafted and complement the atmosphere perfectly.

This spot opened about a year ago, and has a cool speakeasy style entrance at the Highland Park Bowl bowling alley. It is a small space, and I would highly recommend making a reservation on Resy. You have 90 minutes to drink and dine. I parked behind the bowling alley where there is a medium sized pay parking lot. Park in a space, remember your space number painted on the ground, and go to the pay station at the end of the lot. I found the parking machine to be extremely finicky as did other people. After ten minutes of failure, I ended up moving my car to another space, and then it worked. This has nothing to do with the Lucky Tiki, but FYI if you park there. We walked around to the front of the bowling alley, and checked in. Seating options include at the bar, tiki hut booths, and high top tables. The décor inside is a tiki lovers paradise. The room has a high ceiling with many tiki lamps, floats, puffer fish, tiki huts, thatch, ropes, barrels, netting, carvings, a hanging canoe, and a large tiki right in the middle of the space. In addition to the great décor, when you order certain drinks, special effects are triggered. There was also great tiki music playing all evening. We sat at the bar since we always enjoy talking to the bartenders. We actually ran into Skipper Christian in the parking lot on the way in, and he ended up being our main bartender, with Nick and Jo also working behind the bar. We put in a food order right away. The chicken potstickers ($12) came with five tasty bites, and the garlic teriyaki dipping sauce was good. We also had the giant pretzel ($16) which comes with mustard, beer cheese, and ranch sauces. This was excellent, and the perfect filling snack before a bunch of drinks. My first drink was the Siren's Song (Flor de Cana Eco rum, lemon juice, cassis, Oloroso sherry, apricot foam topper, $19). This drink is served in a great mermaid with skull mug and triggers special sound effects and bubbles fill the air. Those bubbles on top of the drink had a great light citrusy apricot flavor, probably the best flavored bubbles I've ever had. The drink itself was very good and balanced with some complexity. She wasn't sure what to order at first, and Christian asked her what flavors she liked. He ended up making a spin on a Tradewinds with some mango and pineapple to go along with the apricot and coconut. It was nicely balanced and not too sweet, even with all that fruit in there. My second drink was the Sun of Suns (Tierra de Acre mezcal, coconut cream, Giffard mango liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, $17). This was coconut and pineapple forward with some good smokiness in the background. Her second drink was the Whatever Floats Your Boat (Ford's gin, lemon juice, velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit syrup, guava soda, topped with hazelnut passion fruit foam, $19). It is served in a cool boat mug, and triggers thunder sound effects and lighted mechanical Polynesian tiki characters paddling a canoe over the bar. This was another good balanced drink. It was a little gin forward and the passion fruit popped out, maybe from being both in the drink and the foam top. That creamy hazelnut passion fruit form on top is delicious. I'd happily have a glass of that on its own. We were still a little hungry so we ordered the Hawaiian pizza (marinara, diced pepperoni, red onion, pineapple chunks, hot capicola ham, $16). It was another good tasting, perfectly sized snack, and the crust was light and airy. We were already fifteen minutes over our time limit, but we got the green light to stay longer to order a third drink to share. We ordered the Tiki Diablo (Flor de Cana Eco rum, Worthy Park 109 rum, Alma Tepecha chile liqueur, orange juice, lime juice, mango syrup, guava soda, $24). This drink serves two people, is served in a cool volcano bowl with glowing red lava around it, and comes with a fire show. Unfortunately, right after it was served, the host came over and said we were over our time and had to leave shortly. Christian made up for it by giving us two tall pours to go enjoy in the bowling alley bar area which was fine. We were happy we got some extra time inside. The drink was also very good, balanced with a little complexity. We had a great time. There is so much great décor to look at. The drinks and food were very good, and some of the the drink presentations and special effects were the icing on the cake. All of the bartenders were very friendly and a lot of fun. We purchased up a few zombie glasses to take home as a souvenir. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Lucky Tiki in Highland Park!
