I felt punked liked I was in an episode of "bar rescue" this place was so packed I was getting bumped into and I was sitting at the bar chair with my husband and friend who invited us. Drinks are watered down, I had 4 jameson and a beer and I didn't have a head change. Crowd: over 40 ladies dressed like their 20s, no body shaming but a bit of a circus if that's your thing. A lot of weirdos roaming. It was a very odd crowd. The space: overcrowded for a small venue which means the door man wasn't diligent about the head count. The service: absolutely horrible- It felt as though they received bad news just as they were opening up and did not want to be there. To the manager, come on 3 women for the crowd turnout? What were you thinking...? 45 minutes before ordering food that's unheard of... so we didn't get to try anything. The entertainment: The Djs didn't seem so bad however, by 11:30pm the place was so packed that there was no reason to stay. No room to dance or even see the next act who I was hoping to see, we end up just leaving. I do recommend this place for live entertainment just I hope the management doesn't violate the capacity limitation & has by then hired on more on call staff to help. PS do not place bar chairs by the bar when you have this large of a turnout and get rid of your table reserved areas. If you see they haven't changed and a lot of people are turning up I suggest leaving it'll only go down hill.

Came to Cities Restaurant for a business mixer and was not impressed with the ambiance, food or service. I ordered a mixed-drink, and it was weak and full of ice. Instead of having servers walk around with apetizers trays, the appetizers were placed in a dark corner of the room on a table with no thongs to grab them. There was Karoake too and some people sang. The place is spacious with a full bar area. The lighting seemed murky, fuzzy and darkish. There's an upstairs floor, but it was closed. The restroom area and hallway looked rather dark, spooky or smoky or both. I made the sign of the cross before entering and found the men's bathroom was functional, but not stocked with TP, cologne, mints or towels.

Preface: Did not have food here. Came Saturday evening around 9:30pm. Grabbed a ginger beer ($5) and a beer ($9). Kitchen was already closed so they were only serving nachos, fries, sliders. Sports playing on the TVs at the bar. Music started off being hip hop and changed into Spanish stuff. Fairly empty until around 10pm when the crowd trickled in, the music changed, and folks made it out to the dance floor. The DJ was good and got the place moving! Pretty chill vibe. Didn't feel unwelcomed or uncomfortable with the late 30s and 40s mostly Hispanic crowd. Would recommend for a chill night out! Women's toilets could use some improved cleaning as typical for these types of places.

    New Wave Night!

Came here for new wave night and it did not dissapoint. Great sound system here. Special beers on tap. The cucumber martini was muddled cukes and not too sweet. Loved it. Other pleasantly strong drinks for me. Wish the dance floor could be bigger because by 11pm it was packed. There is also a small outside area for smoking and talking. Check Facebook for evening events. It's a restaurant and event site.

Been coming here for a few years now and I forget how much I love this restaurant. Bar side for adults and restaurant side for families. Outside and patio seating available. Great happy hour prices on food and drinks. Food is tasty and creative. Fast friendly service with a smile. A they also have board games. A juke box sets the mood even though good music is playing. I recommend their flatbread pizza and pork belly tacos. Any margarita is made to perfection. Jesse helped us out and he couldn't have been much nicer. See you soon Cities.

I was pleasantly surprised when I sent an email to the address on the website and received a reply with the password in a little over thirty minutes. After parking, we didn't have any problems finding the entrance even though it is not marked. Look for the big wood double doors and doorman standing in front. After giving him the password, he opened the doors and we walked in. We were surprised in several ways. The place is way bigger than I would expect for a place named "The Speakeasy". And at 6:30pm on a Sunday, we were the only guests inside. Only one other couple came in during the 30 minutes we were there. I would assume they are a lot busier on Friday and Saturday night. It is dimly lit, and very red inside. The bar is large with many bottles of liquor on display and many seats. The rest of the space is one large area that must have at least 20 tables, and the ceiling is high. It gives off more of a nightclub vibe than a speakeasy vibe. I tried the Naked & Famous cocktail which has two of my favorite spirits (Vida mezcal, aperol, yellow Chartreuse, lime, $18). It was nicely balanced with a good mix of smoke and herbal flavor. She had the Pablo's Poison (Altos reposado tequila, strawberry, lime, jalapeno, elderflower, $17). The jalapeno flavor really stood out with strawberry and elderflower in the background. They have a good cocktail menu with almost twenty cocktails, as well as a food menu with ten items. Walk up to the bar to order your drinks. Jeremy, the manager, and the female bartender whose name who I didn't get were nice. We aren't in Pasadena very often, and while they have a good cocktail menu, I don't know if we would return. We were expecting more.

But this place is a vibe because it commits to its character. It knows who it is portraying to be, and never surrenders its identity based on opinion. Meaning that this place is pretty and pink and a tropical print mixture, and its owns its look. And if you ain't trying to get the vibe that keep on moving. This place is also nestled in the heart of the Arts district next to other bars that know their personality and go spheres-out to claim. So its aesthetic meets the orbiting bars not in style but commitment to its brand,. I went on a night where they were specifically showing a Love Island Episode. Why? Morbid curiosity? Guilty pleasure? A reason to go out. Yes and then some. The place was immediately recognizable by its hot pink door. The door promised a portal and it delivered. As soon as you enter the bar it hits with theme, with neon, with crowd dressed in posh attire. Like I said it was a vibe in pink. When I went to the bathroom the line was only female. The leader of the line was explaining that they could use the male bathroom since no males were there and cue my entrance. A few women were already inside and I waited until the line leader said it was ok to go in. I implict take away is that this night was women heavy. Like the shows fan base was mostly young chicks. Who knew? I have been to a few soccer games at bars in the recent past and of course there is a lot of expressions of enthusiasm and commentaries as the game progresses. The bar was set up in the same way. The tvs were there, showing the game, and I wondered if they were going to collectibely gasp and root as the episode continued I saw that they did. When an Islander said something impactful the crowd reacted. It was like seeing a game and enjoying it but here it was relationship dynamcis/drama unfold. And people were here for it. In fact, as I was waiting to order my drink, I heard customers behind me analyze the drama as sports fan analyze a game. And they were ciomparing different seasons. Apparently season six made the guy behind him feel uncomfortable because it was too freak. Either that season or this season had toe sucking. So there was history in this game that led to fan reactions and follow up insight. They were invovled fans. And this was the congregation for involved fans. I went to live the dream of a fan who would die for this and could not come. I eventually gave up on a drink the line was too long.

This was the last stop in a night where Conrad and I stepped out to LA to have a good time. So by…read morethe time I got there I was tipsy. I was not falling down the stairs, nor was I slurring my words, nor was I misaligning my pool shots, but I was definetely feeling the good inside my blood. I note this, not to highlight my cool factor as if I was a frat bro in a Florida party school, but more to describe how my experience was fogged by my consumption. This place was definetely a hot spot to hit, but I just will not be able to descrbie everything with speicifc detail, more, broad strokes of a good time. The place is reached by going down a flight of stairs, which feels like one is going to catch the J line in New York. I think I felt this more because of the Spring St sign- a famous stop in NY, NY. As soon, I got there, the goal was to continue the good time and this place allowed that at a reasonable price. They had these can drinks that I really responded and they were only 7 dollars. Ok, I know that saying something is only 7 dollars in this economy can seem out of touch. But a drink in LA most of the time will run you at least 12 to 16 dollars, and I think it is mostly on the 16 side. So finding a 7 dollar drink in a hot spot is refreshing. It was a Suncruiser- a vodka spirit based drink- that was part of their specials for their night. maybe is more expensive on other nights when it is not on special? After the drink Conrand and I stepped into their floor. It was the first time we were there and it is basically a basement game room on whatever it is that Bane takes to make himself go from puny human to muscle-on-muscle-on-muscle villain. There is a lot of pool tables maybe like 5, and I saw ping pong, and other table games. Additionally, instead of a speaker or a recorder- the one's that spin old timey records- there was a band. I took a short video of the band but I could not tell you if this band was good or bad or their name or their style of music. I was partly present, and I just heard the music, I did not appreciate the performers. It happens. So Conrad and I play all the time together. And I saw a guy playing by himself. We quickly introduced oursevles and then we played pool. Here is the thing that I am happy to write about this place. Unline a regular bar with a pool table, where every one knows your name, this place had the opportunity to meet new people. And I enjoyed playing with this guy. He was a new challenge. He had fresh stories. And he offered a view of the world I enjoyed. So this place offers the opportunity to meet new people over a game of pool. If pool is your thing than this place will make you happy an if pool is your way of meeting new folks then this place will make you happy and give you opportunities to find the folks you imagine you need in your life. In the final analysis, I want to go here again, and experience the place more broadly. Not sure if I will write a new Yelp, because even though I bared bone this one, it still gives the primary messages I want to. And to the guy who I played with thanks for having a good time with me, even if it was short. And sometimes, short, can be just enough.
