Service was great, our waitress was very friendly. Food was good, however both drinks that I got being a coke and a lemonade had something off about both of them. Interior is nice and spacious and I like the classic diner look.

There are places you go for convenience... and then there are places you go because they feel like home. For me, Hole in One in Montebello is that place. I've been coming here for years, and the reason I keep coming back is simple: the food is always delicious, the service is unmatched, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the owners are some of the most hardworking and genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Food That Always Hits the Spot!!! Let's start with the food because let's be honest, it's what keeps your stomach and your heart happy. The menu is packed with elevated comfort food done right. Everything is full of flavor, made fresh, and clearly crafted with pride. Some of my favorites? The burgers hands down are juicy, flavorful, and cooked just the way you want them. The classic cheeseburger is always a safe bet, but they've also got creative takes with fun toppings that keep things interesting. The wings are legendary crispy on the outside, perfectly saucy, and tender on the inside. They have just the right amount of kick, and I've introduced so many friends to them who now ask me when we're going back. The nachos? Massive, cheesy, layered with flavor, and perfect for sharing. Their tacos and sliders are also consistently good whether it's Taco Tuesday or just a midweek craving. And if you're coming in for brunch or a late breakfast, their breakfast burritos and plates are hearty, delicious, and exactly what you want on a lazy weekend morning. No matter what I order, I always leave full and happy. The portions are generous and the consistency is something you don't find everywhere anymore. Happy Hour Done Right Now let's talk about happy hour because Hole in One has one of the best in town. Whether you're looking to wind down after work or kick off a weekend night, the deals are amazing and the energy is always on point. The drinks are strong, well-made, and never watered down. Whether you're into margaritas, micheladas , cold beers, or classic cocktails, they've got you covered. Their bartenders know what they're doing and are always happy to make recommendations. There's something about the atmosphere during happy hour here it's upbeat and fun, but still chill enough that you can actually have a conversation without shouting. Because then I will lose my voice! lol They often have sports on the TVs, great music playing in the background, and an easygoing vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. It's the kind of place where strangers start chatting with each other, laughter is always in the air, and people are genuinely enjoying themselves. Service That Makes You Feel Like Family One of the biggest reasons this place stands out is the incredible service. Every single person I've interacted with here has been kind, attentive, and truly cares about your experience. They're quick with your order, on top of refills, and always checking in to make sure everything is just right. (Not sure what the dude Fred is complaining about). But it goes beyond just being polite they remember your name, your favorite drink, even how you like your food. That personal touch is rare these days, and it's one of the many reasons I keep coming back..hehe i might be a regular now. It doesn't matter if it's packed on a Friday night or a quiet Tuesday afternoon the staff is consistent, friendly, and professional. Owners Who Pour Their Heart Into This Place This part is deeply important to me: the owners. You can tell from the moment you meet them that they care not just about the business, but about the people. They've created a space where locals feel seen, where new visitors feel welcomed, and where community is celebrated. They're often there in person, checking in on guests, jumping in to help their staff, and engaging with everyone with a smile. Over the years, I've seen them support local causes, host events, and continue to invest in making Hole in One a place people are proud to visit. Their energy, dedication, and kindness set the tone for the whole establishment. It's not just a bar or restaurant it's a gathering place. And that's because of the environment they've built. More Than a Spot It's a Community Staple After years of coming here, I can honestly say Hole in One is so much more than a food and drink spot. It's where friendships are made, where birthdays are celebrated, where tough weeks are shaken off with laughter and good company. I've brought coworkers, family, out-of-town friends, and they've all had a great experience. If you're in Montebello (or even just passing through), don't sleep on this gem. It's local, it's real, and it's got heart. The food is great, the drinks are on point, the happy hour is solid, and the people staff and owners alike make it what it is: a standout in the best way. Thank you, Hole in One, for years of great memories and for many more to come. You've got a loyal customer in me, always.

    Chicken Club Sandwich

First time after the new ownership. As we walked in, I felt that it was very humid and very warm in the main dining area. We had a group of 8, so they seated us out in the warm area. Maybe it was a ploy, but I needed to order a pitcher of beer. The greeter was friendly, but he didn't know much about the daily specials. He stuttered a bit and just told us he needed to ask. We all were complaining to ourselves about how warm it was, and we asked the greeter if they had a/c. He answered that they had just turned it on. My first thought was, why didn't they turn out when they opened. It was 3pm. Our waitress came out to take our drink orders and to tell us what was on the menu. She was amenable, courteous, and super friendly. I ordered the Chicken Club Sandwich with Onion Rings. I first dug into the onion rings. The onions were a bit soggy, but the fry was good. The sandwich was not flavorful at all. Even with the bacon, it was plain. It was very dry as well. The environment in the bar area where we moved to since the dining area was too hot was very loud, and you couldn't even hear the person right next to you. I guess if we were here to relax and just have fun, it would be the right environment. We just wanted to have a good meal and drink. The only plus... our waiter was great!

They all sounded pretty similar, but the slightly more expensive ones were better. Looking back, my first visit was for happy hour oysters, so they probably weren't the freshest batch. We also got hot, crispy fish and chips, and steamed clams and mussels. The standout was the Bouillabaisse, recommended by our waiter over the cioppino. Great call, the broth was delightful and well balanced with just the right amount of spice. We went on a Saturday night and the vibe was a pleasant surprise. Live DJ spinning R&B and throwbacks, fun energetic atmosphere, and drinks that were surprisingly affordable compared to a few cities over in Pasadena. Glad we gave it another shot. I'll definitely be back for happy hour, which runs daily, though I might skip the oysters this time around. Then again, who knows.

For the price of food and the amount you get, I can't complain! The flavor of their own seafood boil sauce (boom sauce?) is a standard seafood boil flavor, it's legit. The flavors don't overwhelm you and make you wanna go to the toilet right away, you know what I mean? The family pack comes with 3 corn on the cob, 3 sausage pieces and 3 potatoes (like a medium sized potato!) it was good but I wish the seafood had time to sit in the sauce, you can tell the food was dumped on the sauce. We had to fight to scoop some sauce onto our mussels cause the bag was so full of food- what a good problem to have. Maybe the sauce is a bit thin? Maybe that's why it didn't stick to the food? Service was good, the ladies were attentive and professional. The decor looked like this place was known to be a bar- I mean there's a huge bar to the side. There's even a second floor but no one was seated there so it doesn't look used. Cute decor with the sea theme. Not happy about their toilet in the women's restroom. There's a a sign saying to please not dispose the toilet seat covers in the toilet cause it could clog it up. I was being a nice person and went to the trouble of respecting their wishes. It was gross as I was being careful not to touch the peed parts of the toilet seat cover. Don't judge me, only God can judge me! Come here to feed your family and friends at a very reasonable price! And if you're a lady you're gonna have to hover while you pee if you don't want to deal with the toilet seat cover disposal issue...

We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.
