I have been here many times but never for the buffet. The food selection is bigger than most other Mexican buffets. Lengua en chile verde, quesabirria tacos, fresh hand made tortillas, aguas frescas, carnitas, many salsas, aguachiles camarones, many different kinds, baked fish, chiles rellenos, pork in chile verde, enchiladas, various types and soups. Also they have all types of breakfast from homelets to cereal and lots of fresh fruits. I usually get there before the Mariachi. Nothing wrong with their music but I like to have a nice conversation with my wife while we eat. I strongly recommend this place and the price is very decent for an all you can eat. It's under $30.00 per person. The only bad part, as we were leaving, I tripped outside while walking on the sidewalk, fell and broke my left wrist and two fingers, bruised my ribs. Pulled up last Tuesday evening, 06-16-26, for happy hour. It's a nice space and location. Was able to park on the side of the building. It was real chill inside with the games on. Nor slot or people but a decent crowd. The customer service was as great. Jorge was working the bar. He's real cool. Made me some good drinks. Allowed me to sample the cucumber margarita before making me one. It was actually refreshing and better than the sex on the beach. The quesabirria tacos were delicious. Never had them that small lol but they were really good. I would definitely get those again. There was a mistake with some charges on my tab but the manager or supervisor on duty came over and notified me before I even notice and she immediately corrected the error. Kalaveras is my friend's birthday go-to spot because they always deliver on reasonable prices, delicious food, and exceptional service. They went all out for her birthday and they also worked with us to make sure that her birthday cake was brought out during the happy birthday song! Our server cracked jokes the entire night and made sure we got sauces and water whenever we needed. As for the food, we started with the Kala Sampler, which has asada nacho bites, chicken buffalo wings, potato and chicken tinga, and taquito dorados. The Kala Sampler is good for four people so order accordingly if you have a bigger party. My hubby and I shared the parillada, which had multiple meats that can be put into either a corn or flour tortilla along with rice and beans. For meat, we had marinated steak, chicken breast, seasoned shrimp, cactus, and chorizo. My favorite was the seasoned shrimp. The steak felt dry to me but everything was still good and flavorful with the molcajete salsa, which tasted like sweet tomato. We were not able to finish and had to take most of this home because the portions are just that generous! All this for the price of $55 for the parillada. They also offer this service where they take a complimentary group photo and they print other individual and couple photos for sale. Service here is good, I told the waitress and the manager I came here for the drink but, for some reason it didn't taste the same as 9 months ago when I came into town and compare to my first visit, and they wanted to remake the drinks for me but I had to leave. But next time I will still come back because the food, service and it was a pleasant visit for us to come back here. This was my first time visiting Kalaveras in Montebello, and we went for lunch to celebrate Karla's birthday. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed perfect for a weekday lunch outing. I ordered four tacos: pastor, carne asada, barbacoa, and chicken. My favorite was definitely the pastor full of flavor and really well prepared. The barbacoa was good but could have had a little more seasoning. I had the green salsa, which was mildly spicy and just right for me. For my drink, I ordered the berry mocktail. It was a bit sweet at first, but once I added some water, it tasted perfect and very refreshing. Some of the girls ordered the same tacos I did, while others tried the tacos de papa, and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. We celebrated Karla's birthday during lunch, and she ordered a flan for dessert. We sang happy birthday, which made the moment feel extra special. The service was great friendly, attentive, and never rushed. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a calm, pleasant vibe for a Tuesday afternoon. I live right next to a Kalaveras but I've never noticed it. I also never noticed how many Kalaveras locations there were around the area. We were on our first date at a coffee shop nearby and I had brought up how hungry I was and she recommended we try this place out because we were both craving Mexican food. She recommended the Enchiladas Verde so that's what I ordered. It was delicious and that sauce was amazing! I highly recommend it to all you enchilada enthusiasts. Visited on 06/01/2026 at approximately 8:30 PM. I rarely leave negative reviews because I work in the restaurant industry and understand that everyone can have an off day. However, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this location. The service we received from Oscar was poor from start to finish. It genuinely felt like he either did not want to be at work that day or simply did not want to serve a table of two. What made it more frustrating is that a larger party came in later and he seemed more happy to help the and took his time. The restaurant was not busy. When we arrived, Oscar only had one table, and throughout our visit it appeared he had no more than three to five tables total. Despite that, my mother and I felt ignored for most of the evening. What made this especially disappointing was that I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left feeling overlooked and unimportant. The one bright spot of the night was Nisa, the hostess. She was friendly, helpful, and stepped in toward the end to assist us. Her professionalism was appreciated and was the only positive part of our visit. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this location. Best deal in town is Taco Tuesday. Granted, many restaurants offer a special on Tuesday. I've tried different places and Kalaveras truly is the best in price and taste. There are 6 proteins to choose from, plus unlimited toppings. Each taco was $1.49 x 3 = $4.47. On my photos you can see the variety of grilled veggies and freshly made salsas. Add a beverage, tax and tip and your dinner is under $10.00. I must also mention the fantastic brunch on Sunday, $39.99 for adults (kids price is $19). The food is set up buffet style, with multiple food stations, seafood, pancakes, made to order omelets, and is AYCE (all you can eat). It's an impressive spread, there is something for all tastes and/or dietary preferences. It's a lively place with a DJ indoors and disco lights, seems like a party going on. My family had a sunday brunch place nearby that we would go to but unfortunately it closed. So now we need a new place. We had never been to this location so we decided to give it try. I'm very happy we did. The atmosphere is great, the service is fantastic (our server was always coming back to check on us), and most importantly they have very nice brunch spread that offers everything from menudo, to tacos, pasta, omelettes, and even pan dulce. And it was all really good. On the Sunday we were there it was actually pretty empty, but it just happened to be Superbowl Sunday so I'm thinking that was probably the reason why. I would imagine that most Sundays it's probably pretty crowded, but we certainly didn't mind that it wasn't packed. The only thing that I'm sure about is: do they offer unlimited champagne? We didn't ask for mimosas/champagne so not sure if its bottomless? Nevertheless, for the setting, service, food, and price it was all very much worth it. We will certainly be returning. read more

This has been a frequent stop for business meals when my boss comes to town. They have a friendly and attentive staff that also have good recommendations. The ambiance is very floral and día de los muertos vibes with ample space for parties as they can host your group indoors or outdoors on their patio area which has roof coverage (yay because the sun hurts these days ouch!) Food is great. I had the Tacos Gobernador this time around base off a recommendation last visit and it was a good choice! Very juicy, flavorful and slight crunch because the tacos are fried in oil. It's a nice flavor combo of spice from the chipotle crema, pickled carrot and radish and cabbage for some crunch. It also has sizable shrimp and avocado slices. These are very filling for the average eater and can even be split between 3 people if you want to try other taco offerings. Came here to try their Taco Tuesday (99 cent per taco) and called ahead to see if they offer their normal vege options. The person said yes...but on the day of they didn't. They have hot plates with preset proteins already and the only vege one was a mashed potato with chilie. It was still tasty though and the waiter was nice. For Taco Tuesday you order your tacos with a waiter and get a ticket to bring to the taco station. Then they will gather the tacos ask what proteins and plate those for you. The food was really good, I enjoyed the wet burrito with a Space IPA, and the salsa for the chips was delicious. Parking was also great, with plenty of space. However, that's where the positives end. The service was terrible. We came on a saturday night at 10 p.m., and the place was nearly empty, with maybe five other parties there. Still, the wait was ridiculously long for no reason. When we did get help, the staff was either rude or forgetful. I asked for napkins and didn't get them until I had to go up and grab them myself. Our entire dinner took about two hours, and half of that was spent waiting. The delay seemed to be because the staff was more focused on making TikTok videos (see photos). It's a shame, because the food was great, but the service was inexcusable, especially on such a slow night. read more
