I have been here many times but never for the buffet. The food selection is bigger than most other Mexican buffets. Lengua en chile verde, quesabirria tacos, fresh hand made tortillas, aguas frescas, carnitas, many salsas, aguachiles camarones, many different kinds, baked fish, chiles rellenos, pork in chile verde, enchiladas, various types and soups. Also they have all types of breakfast from homelets to cereal and lots of fresh fruits. I usually get there before the Mariachi. Nothing wrong with their music but I like to have a nice conversation with my wife while we eat. I strongly recommend this place and the price is very decent for an all you can eat. It's under $30.00 per person. The only bad part, as we were leaving, I tripped outside while walking on the sidewalk, fell and broke my left wrist and two fingers, bruised my ribs. Will this stop me from coming back? NO!!! I will be back next Sunday. I strongly recommend the food, not the fall. read more

Pulled up last Tuesday evening, 06-16-26, for happy hour. It's a nice space and location. Was able to park on the side of the building. It was real chill inside with the games on. Nor slot or people but a decent crowd. The customer service was as great. Jorge was working the bar. He's real cool. Made me some good drinks. Allowed me to sample the cucumber margarita before making me one. It was actually refreshing and better than the sex on the beach. The quesabirria tacos were delicious. Never had them that small lol but they were really good. I would definitely get those again. There was a mistake with some charges on my tab but the manager or supervisor on duty came over and notified me before I even notice and she immediately corrected the error. This is definitely a great spot for good drinks and good quesabirria tacos. I like the ambiance and love the service. read more

Kalaveras is my friend's birthday go-to spot because they always deliver on reasonable prices, delicious food, and exceptional service. They went all out for her birthday and they also worked with us to make sure that her birthday cake was brought out during the happy birthday song! Our server cracked jokes the entire night and made sure we got sauces and water whenever we needed. As for the food, we started with the Kala Sampler, which has asada nacho bites, chicken buffalo wings, potato and chicken tinga, and taquito dorados. The Kala Sampler is good for four people so order accordingly if you have a bigger party. My hubby and I shared the parillada, which had multiple meats that can be put into either a corn or flour tortilla along with rice and beans. For meat, we had marinated steak, chicken breast, seasoned shrimp, cactus, and chorizo. My favorite was the seasoned shrimp. The steak felt dry to me but everything was still good and flavorful with the molcajete salsa, which tasted like sweet tomato. We were not able to finish and had to take most of this home because the portions are just that generous! All this for the price of $55 for the parillada. They also offer this service where they take a complimentary group photo and they print other individual and couple photos for sale. I never understood the business model of these services but at least you get a complimentary photo with the Kalaveras logo! read more

This was awesome! The food was great and inexpensive. The service was quick and on top of the service. We were being checked on and didn't need a single thing! There's screens everywhere to watch the football game. It was really fun to be with a group of friends or family. I definitely enjoyed it here. Food was warm and flavorful. read more

Came into town and came back to this place. Food here is very good and delicious. And they have a good price for lunch and drinks and food here for lunch is a good portion. Service here is good, I told the waitress and the manager I came here for the drink but, for some reason it didn't taste the same as 9 months ago when I came into town and compare to my first visit, and they wanted to remake the drinks for me but I had to leave. But next time I will still come back because the food, service and it was a pleasant visit for us to come back here. Ambience here wasn't crowded when we came around 1:00pm overall I recommended everyone come here and try their food if you haven't been here. read more

This was my first time visiting Kalaveras in Montebello, and we went for lunch to celebrate Karla's birthday. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed perfect for a weekday lunch outing. I ordered four tacos: pastor, carne asada, barbacoa, and chicken. My favorite was definitely the pastor full of flavor and really well prepared. The barbacoa was good but could have had a little more seasoning. I had the green salsa, which was mildly spicy and just right for me. For my drink, I ordered the berry mocktail. It was a bit sweet at first, but once I added some water, it tasted perfect and very refreshing. Some of the girls ordered the same tacos I did, while others tried the tacos de papa, and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. We celebrated Karla's birthday during lunch, and she ordered a flan for dessert. We sang happy birthday, which made the moment feel extra special. The service was great friendly, attentive, and never rushed. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a calm, pleasant vibe for a Tuesday afternoon. Another highlight was Taco Tuesday tacos were only $1.99, which made the experience even better. Overall, it was a really nice lunch, and I would definitely come back again. read more

I live right next to a Kalaveras but I've never noticed it. I also never noticed how many Kalaveras locations there were around the area. We were on our first date at a coffee shop nearby and I had brought up how hungry I was and she recommended we try this place out because we were both craving Mexican food. She recommended the Enchiladas Verde so that's what I ordered. It was delicious and that sauce was amazing! I highly recommend it to all you enchilada enthusiasts. Chips and salsa were also served with our meal which is always a nice touch. I don't remember our server's name but she was checked up on us very frequently and was just great overall. I will definitely be back in the near future and will try their drinks as well! read more

The service was great. Went in for a quick bite. Second time at this location. They actually have a really good brunch. I would recommend the Sunday brunch with family. A lot more selections of food. On the weekday time, the food is okay, somewhat americanized. It's not your homemade style food. To me, this place is a good place to come for drinks, and the ambience. I'm always a fan of ceviche and chicken Enchiladas. It's been a while since I've gone back but I would go back if is someone else wanted to stop in and eat there. read more

Ambience is quite noisy on the inside but there's plenty of seating both inside and outside! Service was lovely as we received our food rather quickly and were regularly checked up on. Food was OK. Service was terrible, our server was nowhere to be seen. Our food came out 10-15 minutes apart. The quesadilla we ordered which should have been the easiest was served once everyone was half way done with their meal. To cap off the night, they started playing music so loud, half our party had to wait outside while we tried to find our waiter to pay the bill. read more

Love this place I am there every weekend to treat myself with some good food and drinks. Really good food and great bartenders.

I've been to Kalaveras three separate times because I genuinely wanted to give this place another chance, but unfortunately, every visit has been the same disappointment. This last time was enough for me. The chicken smelled spoiled/rotten, the aguachile was extremely chewy, and the meat was mostly fat. The overall quality of the food was honestly disgusting. I can understand a restaurant having one bad day--that's exactly why I came back. But three different visits with consistently bad food is no longer a bad day; it's a pattern. I really wanted to like Kalaveras, but after giving it chance after chance, I won't be coming back. Food quality and freshness need serious attention. read more

Visited on 06/01/2026 at approximately 8:30 PM. I rarely leave negative reviews because I work in the restaurant industry and understand that everyone can have an off day. However, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this location. The service we received from Oscar was poor from start to finish. It genuinely felt like he either did not want to be at work that day or simply did not want to serve a table of two. What made it more frustrating is that a larger party came in later and he seemed more happy to help the and took his time. The restaurant was not busy. When we arrived, Oscar only had one table, and throughout our visit it appeared he had no more than three to five tables total. Despite that, my mother and I felt ignored for most of the evening. What made this especially disappointing was that I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left feeling overlooked and unimportant. The one bright spot of the night was Nisa, the hostess. She was friendly, helpful, and stepped in toward the end to assist us. Her professionalism was appreciated and was the only positive part of our visit. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this location. It felt like the focus was on serving larger parties while smaller tables received little attention. read more

Best deal in town is Taco Tuesday. Granted, many restaurants offer a special on Tuesday. I've tried different places and Kalaveras truly is the best in price and taste. There are 6 proteins to choose from, plus unlimited toppings. Each taco was $1.49 x 3 = $4.47. On my photos you can see the variety of grilled veggies and freshly made salsas. Add a beverage, tax and tip and your dinner is under $10.00. I must also mention the fantastic brunch on Sunday, $39.99 for adults (kids price is $19). The food is set up buffet style, with multiple food stations, seafood, pancakes, made to order omelets, and is AYCE (all you can eat). It's an impressive spread, there is something for all tastes and/or dietary preferences. It's a lively place with a DJ indoors and disco lights, seems like a party going on. There is a spacious patio with lots of tables, the music is at a lower volume, easier to have a little conversation. Bring the family and don't forget to tell'em that Rosemary sent ya! read more

Free parking on the lot in the back. Came during Taco Tuesday. The tacos were $1.99 each. My favorite was the lengua. The others were good but either too salty or too sweet. You can get a plate of rice and beans for $5. The music was way too loud to have a conversation. We had to yell at each other to hear 50%. The waitresses don't even talk anymore, guess they learned to read lips. Great place to hang out. Not the place to talk. read more

If you're looking for a party place, Kalaveras is it! Loud music, colorful decor, fun birthday celebrations (think smaller scale Vegas style..yes there is a marqee and bottle service is a paid option). Great for groups. Great Happy Hour (no complimentary chips and salsa during happy hour though). Service is usually friendly. One of my best friends is a regular so she knows the staff and is welcomed with open arms. I've been to this Silverlake location a handful of times. I don't have a favorite meal item. Yet. I am working on it though. My family had a sunday brunch place nearby that we would go to but unfortunately it closed. So now we need a new place. We had never been to this location so we decided to give it try. I'm very happy we did. The atmosphere is great, the service is fantastic (our server was always coming back to check on us), and most importantly they have very nice brunch spread that offers everything from menudo, to tacos, pasta, omelettes, and even pan dulce. And it was all really good. On the Sunday we were there it was actually pretty empty, but it just happened to be Superbowl Sunday so I'm thinking that was probably the reason why. I would imagine that most Sundays it's probably pretty crowded, but we certainly didn't mind that it wasn't packed. The only thing that I'm sure about is: do they offer unlimited champagne? We didn't ask for mimosas/champagne so not sure if its bottomless? Nevertheless, for the setting, service, food, and price it was all very much worth it. We will certainly be returning. read more

A must-visit for authentic Mexican food! The drinks are refreshing, the guacamole is fresh and creamy, and the ceviche is perfectly balanced. The lomo plate is a hearty, flavorful meal. Good tacos to try. Highly recommend! Great vibe for celebrating special moments, like a mom's birthday! The staff provide excellent service, and the atmosphere is perfect for family gatherings. read more

This place was such a vibe. They have great drinks, great service, and a fun lively ambiance. Food: 5/5 We got the nachos and that was so delicious. They have a delicious spicy cheese sauce and a ton of pickled veggies on top of their crispy chips. I would definitely recommend it! Drinks: 5/5 We got their margarita flights and it came out with a fire (seen in the picture). Their margaritas were pretty strong but tasted great. Service: 5/5 Their service was friendly from the second we walked in we felt the hospitality. We got seated quickly and they brought out chips and salsa before we even ordered. Ambiance: 5/5 There were a bunch of birthdays the night we went and it was lit. Tons of cute alcohol, live music, and vendors that come around selling flowers or getting you to take pictures. It's a nice place to hold a big group party, we celebrated Christmas party at work on this location and reservation was easy, we got the whole outside patio with heaters to keep us warm. Staff were attentive to our drinks order as well. Food was buffet style and not sure if they were just bad choices by our boss but food was very very underwhelming in taste, it wasn't enjoyable to eat. What was ordered are enchilada verde and de Cameron, Carne Asada and Chicken Fajitas. Came here to celebrate my besties bday the first time they did a free shot and sang to her! It was amazing she loved it so much. Food was good specially the taquitos. Recently came back to Kalaveras after work. With a party of 6, we didn't have any issues with seating. There were both indoor and outdoor options available. My party decided to sit outside. Despite sitting outside, our server was very attentive and frequently checked in with us. For parking, there is a shared parking lot. There was still plenty of parking, even at around 6:00 pm. We did go on a Tuesday, so I decided to go for some tacos for the Tuesday deal. This was a great, since a single taco was $1.49. The taco stand inside was definitely a popular option, since there was a brief wait. I also got the loaded nachos with chicken and that was fire as well! read more

Ambiance: Lots of wall decor and tvs in the bar area. I found it to be a bit dark personally.... think casino. Service: I went during happy hour right after work, and it seems to be really popular, so the place was pretty chaotic. (Wasn't a bad thing, just lots of people having a good time) I got everything I ordered fast and correct. I never had to wait long or ask multiple times. They were all very nice. This has been a frequent stop for business meals when my boss comes to town. They have a friendly and attentive staff that also have good recommendations. The ambiance is very floral and día de los muertos vibes with ample space for parties as they can host your group indoors or outdoors on their patio area which has roof coverage (yay because the sun hurts these days ouch!) Food is great. I had the Tacos Gobernador this time around base off a recommendation last visit and it was a good choice! Very juicy, flavorful and slight crunch because the tacos are fried in oil. It's a nice flavor combo of spice from the chipotle crema, pickled carrot and radish and cabbage for some crunch. It also has sizable shrimp and avocado slices. These are very filling for the average eater and can even be split between 3 people if you want to try other taco offerings. Put this on your places to try but be prepared for the price tag as this one is definitely not cheap. read more

Came here to try their Taco Tuesday (99 cent per taco) and called ahead to see if they offer their normal vege options. The person said yes...but on the day of they didn't. They have hot plates with preset proteins already and the only vege one was a mashed potato with chilie. It was still tasty though and the waiter was nice. For Taco Tuesday you order your tacos with a waiter and get a ticket to bring to the taco station. Then they will gather the tacos ask what proteins and plate those for you. They have a small table area with the condiments like cilantro, onion, pickled carrots, radish, cucumber, and different salsas too to add your own finishes. Yum! read more
