Food was so good Also loved our server Araceli, she was on top of things, and very nice definitely will be coming back.

The food is delicious. Waitress Miranda is amazing and very good.Always enjoy coming here.

Came here on a Friday night and had such a great experience! Maricela was our server, and she was absolutely amazing probably one of the best servers I've ever had. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We tried several different plates and really enjoyed everything we ordered. There were so many good options that it was hard to choose! The Tamarindo Margarita is a MUST TRY! It was delicious and definitely one of the highlights of the night. read more

Food was great tasty. Service was excellent but ambience was a bit too loud for me thankfully they had outdoor seating. If you like live music this would definitely be great for you. The host smiled when I asked for a quiet area like really? Then she said "We have outdoor" which it was perfect for me and my wife. Friendly people read more

Friendly staff amd bartender with plenty of seating options, two dining areas, two separate bars, and one patio. This is a family and pet friendly space with tvs to watch sports and live music Th-Sun after 6pm. They also offer happy hour during the week and daily beer and food specials There's plenty of 2hr free parking in the backlot and street parking but it does get very busy in the evenings and weekends. read more

El Capitán Montebello - Mango habanero aguachile - Seafood Near Me - Montebello, California

I typically wait a few days, sometimes even a few week to review a location, but I had to write one after today's visit. Spotted this restaurant earlier this week driving by. Husband and I were in the mood for mariscos so we decided to check this place out. It's surprisingly spacious, with a stage and enormous screen playing music videos of modern to old-school banda and similar 90s music. Our server Javi was great, attentive, and hooked us up with the Thursday drink special, Palomas. We went all in on the seafood. Husband ordered the mango habanero aguachiles, I got the mango ceviche, and our son the kids quesadilla. The taste... oh man. The mango ceviche might be the best I've had. There was one other spot that had ceviche similar in taste, but shut down, unfortunately. It was perfectly balanced with that sweet and spicy/tangy kick, not the usual bitter taste. My husband's mango habanero aguachiles had some serious flavor. We literally joked, "El Pescador who?" Ridiculously delicious. The menu has tons of tempting options, it may take time to make up your mind. We decided this will now be our go-to when craving mariscos. Highly recommend!! read more

Great ambiance, music and food. Highly recommend id you're looking for a restaurant with love banda and norteño.

If you're craving Mexican seafood without breaking the bank, this is the place! Went for a celebratory work lunch and we ordered so much food. The seafood, obviously, was amazing. I loved the aguachile as it was flavored just right and was so refreshing and any plate with their grilled octopus was delicious too. Just remember this is a seafood spot so do not order the steak which me and another coworker did - it lacked flavor, was overcooked (I asked for medium rare), and was lacking overall. Service was also very slow and we had to ask multiple times to get water. But if you're just looking for a good hangout spot for drinks and seafood, this is it though. read more

Place seems pretty cool with live banda and a lot of seating. Is very hidden from the outside, especially on Whittier Blvd side. The ceviche had way too much verdura and not enough of any camaron. Service was okay. read more

Best seafood in Montebello. Solid shrimp and fish ceviche. Fresh and well seasoned. Also a big fan of their shrimp empanadas. So good and cheesy. Great food with live music. Friendly staff and solid customer service. Just a good vibe throughout. Our waitress Maricela is always on top of things. Checks up on us at the right time and our table is always clean. We frequent El Capitan weekly. It's family friendly and always clean. read more

Maybe we came on a bad night It sucks when you get seated and watch everyone who comes after you get water and chips and salsa before you. Best way to turn off a customer. We tried the oyster shooters, they were ok. I got the tostada with shrimp ceviche. When asked if I wanted cooked or raw, I asked for raw thinking it was going to be like Aguachiles. It was raw just exactly like they said. I didn't like it because of the slimy texture. Wasn't my cup of tea. Management should come up with a better game plan for game days to make sure everyone gets the best service. Won't be going back. read more

Very spacious and good ambiance, they had live band playing banda and singing. They have a lot of sushi options, got the El Chapo and it was fried and had asada in it and was decent 7/10. The salsa was smoky and had some heat to it. The tacos had a lot of filling inside and had flavor 8/10. Service was good and fast. Got a mango margarita and it was good too 8/10. Would come back, want to try other sushi's and their aguachilies. read more

. First, the good: the food is REALLY good. I've tried several dishes so far and everything has been delicious. The standout for me was the Camarones Tamarindo. You HAVE to try those. The sauce is sweet like tamarindo, almost mole style, but with a nice spicy kick at the end that brings everything together perfectly. It's flavorful, bold, and different from what you usually get. Recommended !! Another favorite was the Camarones Nayarit. The garlic, the spices , just packed with flavor. We were a group of six and we all agreed these shrimp were next level. Definitely one of the best shrimp dishes I've had in a while. The banda is also really good. They're playing regardless, but if you want to request a specific song, it's $25 per request. Not mandatory, just an option if you want something special played. It adds a fun vibe to the place. Service has been great for the most part. Staff is attentive and they serve you well. Prices are on the higher end, but fair for what you get , especially considering the quality and portions. Now, a few things that could improve: The music acoustics could be better. There's a bit of an echo , maybe it's the speakers or the layout, but the sound could use some adjustment. The lighting is also very bright. It would feel more comfortable and relaxed if it were a little dimmer. Adding some greenery or planters would also help make the space feel warmer and less wide open. Overall, it's a great spot and a solid hangout place. It's still a little empty since it's new, but I really hope it makes it because the food deserves the support. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Visited on a Friday night and the place was a vibe. They had a Banda playing with the Dodger vs Padres game up on the screen. It was little loud, so we did miss bits and pieces of our conversations. We also had to be really loud to place our order, to ensure we would be given the correct items. I will say that our waiter was fun, friendly and attentive. We ordered a few dishes to share and we were not disappointed with the flavors. Their salsas were tasty too. The tamarindo margaritas were very refreshing and not watered down. There's plenty of parking available so that's a plus. read more

Craving mariscos? Fajitas? Sushi? Typical Mexican dishes? Search no further because the menu here is incredibly big with someone for everyone, even the pickiest of eaters will find something here. They have outdoor and indoor seating; with the indoor being quite large and they even have a stage with a huge screen and instruments for live music. Our waitress was very attentive and nice. We were brought chips and salsa as well as complementary consome de camarón which was soooo delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes: aguachiles verdes, camarones cucaracha, camarones Nayarit, torre el capitán, el pancho roll, and a coco especial. Everything was delicious and cooked very well. The sauces they use complement the seafood so nicely as well. To end the meal we tried their flan which was really good, density was nice and it wasn't overly sweet. It was a great meal! Only thing I will criticize is that towards the end of our meal the musicians started playing the live music and loud doesn't even begin to cover the volume of their playing. Absolutley no way would anyone be able to hold a conversation with the music going on. I'll just avoid the live music times lol read more

The food was good, and everything was fine until I checked my bank statement. I noticed that the amount charged was different from the total on my bill. Our party ordered a variety of foods. All were good. Fish tacos were excellent. Meats all marinated/seasoned and grilled nicely. Large portions. Our server was kind, attentive and helpful (especially with the big menu). Music was a bit loud for being nearly empty on a Tuesday evening. Made conversation difficult at times. Only thing we found very off putting and unsettling was upon entering, and during the time we were there, a very noticeable smell of "restroom waste basket," if you know what I mean. One would think that with all the seafood on the menu, a "fishy" or "ocean" aroma might permeate the air...and not sewage. Could've been an off night. If no one gets sick, we'll certainly try it again. read more

The restaurant fell short on basic table service. We waited for help and had someone wave to our server three separate times--no acknowledgment or follow-up. Since we weren't checked on at all, we felt ignored and left disappointed. I will likely not be coming back. It's a shame too because I really liked the food. But if the restaurant continues to have servers like Miranda. Then, they've lost me a customer. read more

This ambiance had big screens to watch games and the place was nice. It's a new place and if you like Banda, great people, real sinaloense mariscos and good deals! This is your places especially on special days ;) it can be pricey like everywhere! The service was attentive even when they got busy. I was there since 5:30-11pm. It's definitely got busy after 9pm. The manager came to our table to ask how we were doing. Staff was attentive and polite even when busy. We had a few different plates. I'll be back and post better food pictures. For those haters lol they don't need people they had a line to come in and it's been in business only like 3 months. I just hope they don't change:) The original place is in Santa Ana and it's fire over there too. But this place is way spacious and LA vibes! read more
