I would give this place 4 1/2 stars just cause the food was okay for me. It wasn't like a WOW! but I think it just needed a little more kick to it and presentation wise to it. The service here was great though. The guy behind the counter was very welcoming to the customers walking in and he helped me out on what I wanted to try out. And so, I did the Lunch Buffet. I'll for sure come back some time. Thank you Shakeys!

Great deal! Brunch pizza for just $16 per person, all you can eat! (Before 2pm). Freshly made, always stocked, and ready for you to enjoy. Serve yourself and have fun!

Five stars for the excellent customer service! We came as a group for lunch and I was very impressed with the service at Shakey's Monterey Park. Once we ordered and paid for our food, we took our seats and were never left unattended by staff. I appreciated how they approached the delicate task of asking us if we would like to have the used plates removed, or if we needed extra plates or utensils, napkins, etc. This is not always easy when diners are deep in conversation. The mojo potatoes are my favorite and are just as tasty and crispy as I remember them. The crispy chicken sandwich is a bit too battered. I recommend any of their signature pizzas for the full Shakey's experience. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant. I do miss those multi-colored stained glass windows they used to have. So vintage. Enjoy your visit!

Great service and the pizza was hot and fresh. Shoutout to Andres for checking in on us and making sure we had all we needed. Great staff.

What We Ordered: -Individual Pizza Half Pepperoni $7.19 -2 Pc Leg & Thigh Fried Chicken Combo + Mojos including a Soft Drink $9.09 We always pass by Shakey's on Atlantic and we always notice that the parking lot in slammed. It must be legit. My son got some coupon for a free one topping individual topping pizza. We decided to redeem the coupon and check it out for ourselves. Since, one individual sized pizza is not enough for 3 people. We decided to try the Fried Chicken Combo with the famous Mojos. The Fried Chicken was mid (As the kids say these days) and the mojos were not bad, but over hyped. The fried chicken was too salty and greasy. I think it would better to go to Shakey's for their lunch buffet as that's more of a deal especially if you can eat a lot. I wouldn't order off their menu again as it wasn't a good value for the money. The lunch buffet from 11-2 for $14.99 is really a pretty good deal for AYCE pizza, fried chicken and mojos. Shakey's is better for sports team dinners and for large family looking for a bang for their buck. The pizza was alright. I wouldn't be in a rush to go back. We came for an early lunch and it took 30 minutes to get an individual size pizza and fried chicken. It was way too slow considering the majority of the people in the restaurant just came for the buffet. We watched everyone come in long after us overindulging in pizza and fried chicken. I guess that's what we get for ordering off the menu when everyone comes for buffet. That definitely made us more hungry. Lesson learned!

Andrew cool kid !!!

I've eaten here several times, and one thing is always the same, it's busy. That probably says a…read morelot about the times we are living in. With the cost of groceries, gas, and dining out continuing to climb, people are looking for a place where they can get a good meal without spending a fortune. This place fits the bill. If you come before 4:00 p.m. on a weekday, lunch is around $15. That's about what you'd spend on a burger, fries, and a drink at some fast-food chains these days, except here you get an entire buffet with plenty of choices. The salad bar is well stocked and includes fresh fruit. They also have sushi rolls and nigiri. Is it sushi restaurant quality? No. But considering that one specialty roll at a sushi restaurant can cost $12-$16 by itself, it's a nice bonus. My favorite item is fried chicken. It's crispy, flavorful, and consistently juicy. I would gladly pay the lunch price just for the chicken. They also serve a very good pot roast, meaty pork ribs, and on Fridays they have a surprisingly good rib roast. Those are just a few of the highlights because there are plenty of other dishes to choose from. As for the staff, most of the employees appear to be young and may be working their first job. The cooks aren't trying to be gourmet chefs, they focus on preparing the buffet items well, and overall, they do a good job keeping the food coming despite how busy the restaurant gets. If you're looking for a fine dining experience prepared by professionally trained chefs, this probably isn't the place for you. But if your goal is to enjoy a wide variety of good food at a price that's hard to beat in today's economy, this buffet is definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for a crowd, that's usually a sign they're doing something right.

This wasn't my first time visiting this buffet, but it had been a while since my last visit. I had…read morea good experience here before, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time. I understand that this is a budget buffet, and I wasn't expecting anything fancy. However, I did expect basic standards of cleanliness, properly cooked food, and decent taste. I brought my boyfriend here for the first time because I remembered it as an okay place to eat. After paying and finding a table, we went to get our food. Our first stop was the soup station, where we looked for clean bowls. I noticed a stack of bowls in a plastic basin to the right of the soup station, but some of them had cilantro on them. I figured they couldn't possibly be clean. My boyfriend, who is much taller than me, suggested checking the bowls in another basin on top of the soup station. He took one out, only to find seeds on it. I then checked another basin to the left, next to the crackers. One bowl had brown stains, while another had dried seeds on it. At this point, none of the bowls we found looked clean. I asked a staff member, who was busy on his phone, where we could find clean bowls. He pointed to the stack on the right side of the soup station. When I showed him the cilantro on the bowls, he looked at them and removed the dirty ones. My boyfriend then showed him the dirty bowl he had found and asked him to bring the manager to our table. I also pointed out the other dirty bowls on the left. The staff member removed those as well and set them aside. Needless to say, our impression of the restaurant had already been tarnished before we even started eating. I also noticed that the cut tomatoes in the Mongolian BBQ station still had their stem scars attached, which added to my impression that not enough attention was being paid to food preparation. I had originally planned to enjoy some sushi, but after seeing the condition of the bowls, I didn't go anywhere near it. I simply didn't feel comfortable taking the risk of getting sick. I did try the seafood soup, but it was extremely salty. I decided to stick with the cooked food instead. I took a mussel with corn, but the moment I bit into it, I felt something poking my gum. When I looked at it more closely, I found a small crab inside. I believe it was a pea crab, which can sometimes be found inside shellfish. I wasn't sure whether it was safe to eat, and since I wasn't expecting to find a crab in my mussel in the first place, I decided to play it safe and not eat it. Meanwhile, the manager never came to our table. I eventually asked a very nice lady who was cleaning tables if she could call the manager for us. She was extremely friendly and immediately contacted someone using her walkie-talkie. And guess who showed up? The same staff member I had initially asked to bring the manager! My boyfriend raised the issue of the dirty bowls again, and the staff member said he had taken care of it immediately. The problem was that he never apologized or identified himself as the manager when we initially asked to speak to one. I wasn't sure whether there was a language barrier, but his handling of the situation was disappointing. He didn't seem to have the customer service skills needed to address a complaint professionally. On the other hand, Nancy, the lady who was cleaning the tables, was friendly, responsive, and knew how to handle the situation appropriately. If the owner happens to read this review, I hope they recognize Nancy's excellent customer service skills. Based on my experience, she demonstrated the kind of professionalism I would expect from someone in a management position. The dessert section was another concern. Each dessert serving was placed in a small bowl, and I noticed several empty bowls with visible food scraps still inside. I couldn't tell whether customers had eaten directly from the bowls and returned them or had transferred the desserts to their plates before putting the empty bowls back. Either way, it looked unappetizing. There also didn't seem to be any staff regularly clearing away the empty bowls, which made the entire section look messy and unhygienic. Overall, I was genuinely surprised by how much this place seems to have gone downhill. I can't say for certain what caused the decline, but the way the staff member handled our complaint certainly didn't help. Throughout my visit, he seemed more occupied with his phone and occasionally taking pictures than attending to customers. I couldn't help wondering whether he was busy with social media or something else, but whatever the reason, the lack of attention to customer service was disappointing. It's sad to see a place I once considered decent fall to this standard. I understand that a budget buffet won't offer a premium dining experience, but cleanliness and proper customer service should never be optional. Unfortunately, I don't see myself coming back. What a disappointing experience!

The food is below mediocre. The drinks are watered down. The service is non-existent. The serving stations are dirty. Other diners have little regard for cleanliness or the decency not to mix serving tongs or ice cream scoopers. The Mongolian grill wasn't running during my visit (I believe it's available during dinner hours), so that's something I'd be curious to try next time. Finding a spot was frustrating, and the shared parking area made things even more difficult. Be prepared for a little headache, especially during busy times. Overall, Fuji Buffet has a good variety of seafood and plenty of options to choose from, but the food was just okay and pretty standard for an Asian buffet. The biggest downside for us was definitely the parking. It's worth considering if you're craving a buffet with lots of selections, but don't expect anything extraordinary. Final verdict: A decent buffet for the variety, especially the seafood, but the parking situation definitely takes away from the experience!

I want to say their soy sauce is amazing but the fish is not always perfectly steamed. The last fish we had were a little tough. But that's not their standard. Usually very good! Clams with Basil - underrated dish, same with the fish this sauce is so tasty over rice! My mom can also make this dish at home but obviously minus the msg Lobster with yee meen - they are known for their lobster and if you love nooodles sauce coated you might want to add yee meen. My family LOVES this dish. No one makes it like they do. Kung Pao Chicken/Cashew Chicken - both amazingly made if you like a little more sweet and texture crunch I'd say KPC and if you want a lighter flavor go for CC

Everything was just ok. We came here for a birthday dinner and nothing particularly wowed me. I…read morebelieve we got one of their sets which came with 10 dishes including lobster, crab, walnut shrimp, fish, clams and more. There were plenty of food and tons of leftovers for the 7 of us. However everything was just ok. The lobster flavor was good but the meat felt overcooked. The crab had little flavor except on the shell itself and that was very salty. The crab meat also felt overcooked. We basically kept comparing this place to other similar Chinese seafood restaurants and unfortunately this one was rated the lowest in our opinion. My BILs both loved the fried rice though. Personally I found it very mid. Overall the food was just ok - tasty but nothing crazy amazing. Since there are other better Chinese places out in LA, I probably won't be back.
