A bit on the drier side but still okay! They have lots of proteins and vegetables from broccoli beef and bok choy stems to sichuan chicken, scallops, clams, salmon, shrimp, and beef cubes. Head to their fried foods section and you'll find pizza, sweet potatoes, sesame balls, egg tarts, and bbq chicken skewers. For soups, enjoy a spicy hot and sour, fish maw and imitation crab, or meat ball soup. They even have shu mai, taro buns, sticky red bean rice, and sticky mushroom rice. I love going to their customizable stir fry line and making my own fried udon with egg, pineapple, garlic, and mushrooms. They have lots of seafood, sushi, and sashimi too from rolls to seaweed salad, crab legs, and more! Need a sweet treat? Been passing by Kami on my way to work for a while, so I finally decided to stop in and check it out. Overall, it was a pretty standard Chinese buffet experience. There's a solid variety of options, and you can definitely find something to satisfy whatever you're in the mood for. A few of the fruit and sushi items seemed like they may have been sitting out for a bit, which can happen at buffets, but there were still plenty of other choices to enjoy. The Mongolian grill wasn't running during my visit (I believe it's available during dinner hours), so that's something I'd be curious to try next time. The standout for me was actually the soups -- both the hot & sour soup and the miso soup were flavorful and comforting, and I ended up going back for more. Service was fine: nothing over-the-top, but attentive enough to keep things moving smoothly. All in all, it's a decent, no-frills buffet spot. WARNING to anyone going to Kami's restaurant: be EXTREMELY careful where you park, especially at night. Multiple cars have had windows smashed, belongings stolen, and vehicles damaged in the area. DO NOT leave anything visible in your car and try to park only in the very front where there's more light and visibility. What's even more upsetting is that the owner seemed fully aware this has been happening for a while but didn't seem concerned or take it seriously. Customers deserve to feel safe when visiting a restaurant, and it's frustrating to see these incidents brushed off instead of properly addressed. Wow they're really improved in the years since I last visited. The change in owners and competition from Paradise Buffet has done them good! For example, the sushi is excellent! The rice used to be dry and hard, now it's soft and fluffy. Also the hot dishes have really improved in flavor! The pepper beef is tender and delicious. The Cajun shrimp has wonderful flavor and the spicy fish is great! The service is good too, they're taking away plates constantly and there's usually always someone around if you need a drink refill. Finally Got to Try It! My friend basically used me as her Uber to get to her BFF's birthday dinner ~ but I'd heard her talk about this place so many times, I was actually excited to try it. It's a buffet restaurant with four stations. I sampled food from two of them and enjoyed what I got. That said, I overheard a few guests mentioning that the food isn't quite the same since management has changed a few times. Went to Kami for the first time and was pretty good. They have full sushi bar, Mongolian bar. Tons of seafood, sushi, fruit and sweets. You need to go with a full appetite. We came mainly for the crab legs my first 2 plates was mild tasting and the 2nd batch was extremely salty. I enjoyed the roast beef you have to slice a piece by yourself. 12 Different kinds of sushi both with raw fish and none. haven't been here in a while and i will say the price went up by a lot (almost $30 pp) while the quality went down... sushi selection went down from a lot of sashimi and nigiri to items like seaweed nigiri??? very disappointing i will say the mongolian bbq section has a lot more options than other buffets. my only complaint is that you're not able to choose your own sauces. my plate ended up way too salty other foods were ok, a lot more seafood options than other buffets. dessert was very stale and it looked like a lot of the food was sitting out for a while none of the food looked overly concerning in terms of freshness but i don't think it's the freshest buffet. would come back to try again and give it another chance but quality has definitely gone down since my last visit read more

This place is hustle bustle and super packed on a Sunday evening. The bussers are working hard and the attendants are too . I visited this place before covid years and lifetime ago it seems but I don't see any quality difference and it's honestly the same as I remember maybe better . There's also snow crab (cold), crab (warm), fried peeled and unpeeled shrimp, clams, mussels, snail (?), scallops, you name it! ICE CREAM: Lots of options - I personally liked the coffee flavor. Ice cream area is a bit sticky and dirty. You pay up front first. Please, and PLEASE leave a generous tip. I used to love this place! Gone downhill quite a bit. My friend was thinking of the crabs here. We came before the dreaded pandemic. This time, the crabs were rubbery shell and hard to break open. Great for large parties. I have a buffet- obsessed family who love crab and shrimp...so this is where my mom wanted to celebrate her 87th bday. Also I liked the many booths along the entire length of the window, also comfortable for four or less. But don't try to reconfigure the larger tables together, they want to keep the large aisles. We ended up being a party of 12. There is a surcharge of 10 percent for parties of 8 or more. And a time limit of 90 minutes, but they were gracious and there were plenty of empty tables, so no one rushed us. 5/5 for service. We tipped when we asked the server to take our picture. And of course we tipped at the Mongolian bbq station. Food. For our party, my party was full of seniors (ask for senior price) brought their own crab crackers and picks and little meat mallets for the Alaskan king crab 5/5. I'm told it was sweet and salty, the king crab was the star 5/5...many loved the whole smaller crabs, and the large whole shrimp, the kind with the heads that you have to peel. They prepare shrimp many ways. 5/5. The sushi and sashimi and the Mongolian bbq, all 5/5. Basically if it's seafood, this place will put a smile on your face. There's even shark fin soup...and spicy snails. Didn't try it, so no rating. But yay, for having this variety...and for having yams 5/5. The pastry desserts are 2/5. The coconut macaroon was hard as a rock, couldn't even bite into it. Definitely a choking hazard. The only saving grace was the fruit at the salad bar and the banana pudding with the almond cookie crust....I told my party to try it as a dessert since it was located in the salad bar area not the dessert area...and at first glance, it looks unappetizing but its a 10/5 it's really surprsingly good...find it near the jello. There's a bar, but no one was working it. Overall, a recommend for the sushi and seafood. Also the Mongolian bbq...nice choices and perfect for vegetarian like me. Where do we start with this absolute fail of a restaurant? Half the food was cold and not sure if that's even up to code for a buffet. New plate of mussels came out and I grabbed several for the table and they were all cold. Keep in mind these are baked mussels. Soups were warm and probably one of the safest things to eat. You can tell half the food has been sitting out all day. Hard and cold and just old. Parking lot was empty and only about 5-6 other families were there eating out of a massive dining area. We hesitated eating there based on the other reviews but we used to come here a lot awhile ago and was ok. Now it's just horrible and I would advise against eating here especially for $28 for dinner. We had a post-funeral afternoon meal service at Kami Buffet a couple days ago. The selection was vast, but I would not recommend it to anyone based on their sanitary practices. Some of the biggest issue we observed: - Staff sanitary/personal hygiene issues. The noodle station staff was cleaning his cell phone, picking and cleaning dirt from the charger socket with a toothpick. He had his gloves on, and was touching the dirt he picked from his phone. He touch his face, rub his eyes, and tidy his hair. He then proceeded to pick up an order and started cooking with the same gloves on. Touching both the raw food and the cooked food. I hope the customers like the extra seasoning. Gross. - Serving food that was collected from guests. The staff mistakenly put out crab legs and prawns early, so a few of our guests, mostly elderly, went ahead and started picking them up. AFTER the food was brought back to their tables, the staff told us that those food were off limits since we only paid for lunch price. That part was fair, and I wouldn't mind paying the difference. But to my surprise, they picked the food up and put them back to the serving stations. Double gross I mean, I definitely wouldn't go back and risk getting sick from their food. Undercover health inspectors should give them a visit. P.S. Kami is a solid buffet with a wide selection of sushi and hot foods. Their seasoned salmon is my favorite of the nigiri options, with other options like unagi, octopus, squid, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, shrimp etc. I come here to get my fix of sushi when I don't feel like only having AYCE sushi. Staff is very friendly and attentive, constantly taking our plates when we're done with them and refilling our water cups. I typically go for a Saturday dinner as that's when business is popping (and the best quality of their foods are out). I've had some lower quality days, but you get what you pay for in my opinion. They also have a hibachi grill, some dimsum options, and desserts including fruits (pineapple is my favorite), self served ice cream (cookies & cream!), and cakes. read more

Food is okay. Staff doesn't let you eat in peace. Staring at you the whole time. They are just waiting for you to finish to give them a tip. I came here after a funeral service with large party. Initially, I was scared to eat anything because I can't afford to get sick based on some other reviews. Also, I'm not a fan of buffets, don't like stuffing myself. I got to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The sushi and sashimi were good, fresh. The hot foods and grill were also good, as was the fruits & salad. Only the French fries were terrible. Chairs were a little bit sticky though, but normal for Chinese places. (This was formerly the Charley Brown's Steakhouse, and nothing was done to improve the interior since it closed down years ago). Understandable for Chinese as they feel that remodeling costs usually can't be recovered, however customers can benefit from lower prices without the remodeling costs. Win-Win. Actually, my favorite dessert was the self-scoop ice cream. Good stuff. The staff came and got our used plates frequently. Plenty of parking. They are very rude here. I arrived at around 8:25 pm. There were tables of people. They were already cleaning up and putting food away. They don't close untill 10 pm. So it made no sense. The price per person we paid, over 30 dollars after taxes. Wasn't worth it. We had to hurriedly get multiple plates before they cleaned everything up. Then one of my party slipped while walking to the bathroom. They were mopping and cleaning the bathrooms way before closing time. They were literally doing all their cleaning around everyone eating. We meet here whenever we come up to LA to have lunch with my relatives. We are a large group so in order to "please" everyone's different tastes, this place works best. There is a huge variety to choose from so everyone gets to have what they prefer, and for those with lots of dietary restrictions it is especially good since they can choose the things their diet allows. The food is good, not great, but the flexibility and choice, and the consistency is what keeps bringing us back.
