Amazingly good braised beef noodle soup. Had low expectations because, mall food court. But was actually really happy with how delicious the food was. As a Taiwanese, my husband says Im a braised beef noodle soup snob. And I thought master Gan's was delicious. Decent amount of food for the price. Beef so tender my 1 year old enjoyed it. Also loved the dry braised beef options. Curious about the braised chicken option. And excited to their their beef dumplings. read more

We took a trip to the mall and we were hungry. We were about to get something from the Japanese eatery right next door, but the menu for Master Gan Noodle & Dumplings looked more inviting. Here's what we ordered: **Dry Spicy Noodle: This dish is your typical Dan Dan Noodle dish. I chose to go spicy. The amount of spice was very moderate and I wished the spicy option was hotter. The amount of bok choy and green onions in my dish was very sad. 90% of my dish were noodles. Although the topping ratio was very poor, the taste was pretty good. (4/5) **House Special Fried Beef Noodle: For the price, the portions were massive. There were plenty of noodles, vegetables, and meat. The overall flavor was quite delicious and was marinated throughout the whole dish. (4/5) **Deep Fried Dumplings: Very crispy and the filling is pretty good. (4/5) **Iced Tea (Unsweetened): Solid unsweetened tea. No complaints here. (5/5) Considering it's mall food, this place is great! The portions for the noodle non-combo was very good. As expected, the combo noodle dish was less but overall, still a great affordable price! Although the food was good, the service was very poor. There was a younger man working the front and I had asked him a simple question regarding the house special noodle dish. It showed the combo noodle dish having no meat but the non-combo dish having meat. I had asked how much it would be to add some meat for the combo dish and he just stared at me saying it would be extra. After an awkward few seconds, I had asked how much it was going to be? He then replied, "Well, there's a few types of meat?" Again, I asked, "How much would it be?!" He then replied, " $5 for option A, $6 for option B, and $7 for option C." I then said "Okay, thank you." He then just stared back and gave no response. This place was also the only place that did not call out your number but instead you got a text message instead. When I received a text for my order, I went up and said thank you but he just stared back with a blank face. When we were finished with our order, I took the trays back to them because it says to return them and after placing it on the counter, he said nothing. Once again, great tasting food considering it being mall food. It's very affordable and portions are quite good. However, you should train your front-of-house-staff to be more interactive and at least fake a smile for your customers. I wanted to love this place but the lack of customer service left a terrible first impression. read more

I love trying brand new restaurants whenever they open, and when I saw a new noodle place that opened in the Montebello Mall, I knew I had to give it a try. I came here with my entire family, as Montebello Mall also has a food court to go with this noodle place. The food court is very spacious. The staff had some trouble with English, so I spoke to the cooks in very basic Mandarin and that was ok. I ordered through the kiosk for most of it any way. I got the seafood noodle soup and also a side of shrimp and pork dumplings. I wish there was more seafood beyond frozen shrimp and imitation crab. The broth was quite nice though. The dumplings were ok, wish they were a bit juicier. read more

This is located inside the Montebello Mall food court. They just opened on 3/07/25. Today is still a soft opening. The noise level is on the loud side because it is inside the mall. We were greeted with a smile and the staff were extremely friendly. We ordered the C2 combo. Beef noodle soup, 4 pieces of fried dumplings, and a drink. You can select how spicy you would like the noodles to be. We think the price is a little steep for the quality of noodles. We believe their prices are what it is because of the location. The beef is very tender and is very soft. If the noodles were a little higher quality and less oil in the broth, then the price would be justified. The dumplings are crispy and the soup spoon could be better. It was hard to drink the soup without maneuvering within the bowl. We would rate the overall combo a 7 out of 10. It's located in Montebello Food Court. Came here to do a little shopping. Got hungry and decided to try this spot out. Unfortunately, I hate taking my food to-go but I had no choice. Came home and warmed it up. The beef rolls and scallion pancakes are good! Honestly, it would taste even better if it was eaten at the food court. But overall, it still came out good. I came to the mall just to pick up lunch and stumbled upon Master Gan. I asked the cashier what he would recommend and undoubtedly he told me the braised beef noodle soup. I got it to go and they gave me chop sticks, spoon, fork, siracha and chili oil. I appreciated the full set up. I opened the container and put the broth in my noodles. The set up was packaged nicely and nothing fell on my drive back to work. The broth is authentic as any other chinese/ Taiwanese place around here. Although a little greasy, the flavor and herb notes satisfy the pallet immediately. The beef is plentiful yet tender and the heat was perfect (asked for medium). Reminds me of food stalls in those underground malls in Chinese cities. Their soups are very authentic. The style of their beef noodle soups is more mainland Chinese than Taiwanese. The flavor tastes kinda Northwestern Chinese to me. Their Braised Beef Noodle Soup is pretty good, but their Chef's Special Spicy Beef Noodle Soup is really legit. That's the way to go. A nice blend of spices with some numbing peppers and pickle flavor. Their dumplings are decent. Nothing fancy here, just solid Chinese comfort food. Overall this place is a nice surprise. read more

At first i was skeptical of the restaurant since it was located in a food court mall... But that opinion quickly changed when i tried the food. The black garlic noodle was so delicious the dumplings as well, Honestly it's so good i'm willing to drive to this mall just to eat the food here. Food was great and service was outstanding! Adam was extremely nice and helpful. His hospitality is top notch makes you feel welcomed. His vibes were so positive and really made feel like he cares for his customers and makes sure you enjoy your meal. To top off when we finished our food he seen us walking up and already knew what we were going to ask for (to-go container and a bag). He had everything already ready for us at the counter. The server was super generous and kind and thankful for our business. He gave me free tea that was super delicious. The deep fried dumplings with the spicy sauce is flavorful and filling. I tried a bite of my dad and brothers noodles as well and they were very soft and pleasant to eat. The tonkotsu broth is so creamy and rich. Service was really nice and friendly! Food was delicious. Noodles were a little salty but very fresh and tasty. Fried dumplings were crunchy and good. Steamed dumplings were tasty as well. I wish they had a little bit of broth inside (a little dry for me). I like that they give you hot sauce and chili oil as well! The sweet tea was really good and not overly sweet! For ramen, I've only gotten the Tonkatsu which is always a solid choice. I've also tried the pork rice bowl and pork buns, and both are great as well. The…read moreother two ordered tsukemen ($26.50 for the spicy deluxe and $23.50 for the spicy chasu) and found it very salty because they chose to consume it not by dipping the noodles in the bowl of broth, but rather by pouring all the broth from the bowl into the noodles, trying to recreate a normal bowl of ramen. I can't speak for them, but I will say, if you order the tsukemen and find that you want more dipping broth, that will be an extra charge. Order a regular bowl of ramen if you do not plan to dip the brothless noodles into the broth for each bite. BF and I both tried the spicy tuna bowl ($7.95), chashu bowl ($8.95), and tonkotsu ramen ($15.95). The bowls are a little smaller than the ramen bowls and are a great option if you want a light meal without feeling super full. The tonkotsu ramen had a slightly rich broth that was flavorful and a decent portion of noodles. We opted not to order the ramen with the egg since we were also trying the rice bowls. The three items were more than enough for the two of us and a good variety of food. Parking here is horrible at the street level, so head downstairs for the two levels of underground parking.
