The cucumber salad appetizer was great as it is marinated with their not too spicy chili oil, garlic, And maybe some vinegar and sugar. Side note, good quality cucumbers I like them cut large. Unfortunately their tonkatsu was very mild. Needed to be cooked longer or with more bones as it almost tastes like a plain chicken broth with so salt. Had to add some sauces and spices to get some flavor in. This was probably the saddest tonkotsu broth I have ever had. The table next to us also drenched their ramen with a bunch of condiments (i saw the Sriracha, salt and pepper all used). Maybe this could be an off batch? Miso ramen was a thick broth. Walked in at 10:29 pm with people still seated and eating and was turned away even though the door and online all say open til 11. The broth had that perfect deep pork flavor without being too heavy, and the pork slices was fatty/tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly and soaked up all the savory broth! I also really liked their marinaded egg. I love how they offer a lower-salt option for their broths, and their spices are on the side so you can adjust to your liking. I also really enjoyed the crispy calamari rings with aioli sauce! Finally had the chance to give this place a try and was not disappointed! It looks a little intimidating because their doors and windows are all tinted but once you're inside it looks like a normal ramen reataurant. I got the tonkotsu ramen and spicy cucumbers. One thing that highlighted my ramen are the noodles. I'm fairly picky when it comes to ramen and most of the time, the noodles are too thick for me. This place was perfect! One recommendation is the broth was a little heavy on the oil. However, I still managed to eat all of it. Their special spicy sauce was also super spicey. Maybe a little less spice would have been perfect to add in my soup. This may be one od my new go-to places for ramen! read more

The space is dim lit but not too dark and is inviting but private. The hostess / cashier was friendly and very kind! I ordered the restaurant's most popular item - Tonkatsu Ramen w/ pork slices ($15.99). I thought the ramen was ok and tasted as expected. The broth might be a little saltier than I'd prefer, but it was still delicious. Pork slices were thin and tender. The marinated egg was delicious. The noodles were a perfect al dente. However, I don't think I'd rate them better than Silverlake Ramen or Ramen Nagi. The interior of the restaurant isn't much to write home about, but it's comfortable. The portion size at this price point is small to me. So, for that, I'd rate this ramen spot as average. If I ever come back to try other menu items, I'll update this review. read more

Ok, I know some other reviewers have talked about how their broth isn't as rich and thick and whatnot. But here's my experience. This thick rich heavy broth thing came from the hype of Daikokuya and Tsujita like, 15 or so years ago, and then, for some reason, that became the standard of "good" ramen. I honestly never enjoyed those ramens. For me, I've always liked the simple shio ramen from Santouka, and generally prefer ramen with lighter brother, and this one is great. Light, delicious. Oh, and their house chili sauce? Watch out. That thing will burn a hole through your stomach. The vegan ramen is also really light and delicious. And on the tofu (in the vegan ramen) and the chashu in the tonkatsu, there is a light sear on the outside that gives it this really delicious charcoal taste. Lovely. Service was quick and easy, and the ambience is very casual and chill. Very glad that there is a spot that is close to home. read more

Tonkatsu with pork is very delicious here. The soup is not your typical clear broth, they are creamy bursting with flavors. Our party also tried the Miso based ramen and their Kaarage. The lady who took our order is very attentive to our needs. She kept refilling our glasses with icy water and service came really fast. Yes! I would recommend it. Stopped by this ramen spot the other day and overall had a solid experience. The broth is on the lighter side-- not too heavy but also not too flavorful. The spicy sauce is served on the side per request and is essential to flavoring the bowl of ramen. Add with care, too much can be overwhelming. On a Friday night in early September, my hubby and I went to new ramen place in Kohls shopping center. Inside has dark interior with nice ambiance. We got seated right away. Went to Haruya Ramen for the first time on May 24. I went at dinner time, there was only one other party there (group of 4). The restaurant is a decent size, plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. They played some great music! Lots of R&B oldies that I enjoyed while eating. This place only has 3 ramen options - tonkotsu, miso, and veggie. I tried the miso ramen with chicken, and the spicy cucumber salad. The miso ramen was ok, I had to add a lot of their house spicy sauce to give it some flavor. The ramen noodles themselves were thick, a lot thicker than I've had anywhere else. Were kind of tricky for me to pick them up and grip them with my chopsticks. The spicy cucumber salad was super SUPER garlicky. I guess that's what they meant by spicy? It was overly garlicky. Also, I drink lots of water, and they serve water to you in the tiniest plastic cup I've ever seen. The poor waitress had to constantly come over to refill my little cup. Overall, this wasn't my fave ramen (my go-to is Silverlake Ramen) so I prob won't be back here. I'm glad I finally gave them a try though, you never know until you try. read more

Stopped by Haruya since it was gloomy over the weekend and had a nice bowl of ramen. Perfect noodle and soup weather. Was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed my bowl of tonkotsu ramen at this new local shop. They are only 2 months old, so still a smaller menu, but based on the bowl of noodles alone - I'd revisit. Their chashu was the best I've had in a minute. Really tender and melt in your mouth. Egg was nice, soup was flavorful. The garlic oil was a nice touch, and I really enjoyed their house made spicy paste to spruce up my ramen. Hopefully they do some topping combos or something since they were a bit pricey on their own. Or some specials to get more people to come by. Parking is easy since it's just around the Kohl's plaza. We step in the restaurant and greet by the waitess/hostess and lead to our table and hand us the menu and brought us water. We look at the menu and know what we want we decided to the Tonkotsu with pork broth then my wife decided order an extra egg and I bamboo shoots and we order the chicken Karaage for a appetizer before our Tonkotsu arrive. First the waitess brought the chicken karaage including two side dipping sauce. We took a bite it was crunchy and light and chicken was tender and juicy and add the dipping were good on the side they salad on the chicken karaage. Final our Tonkotsu Ramen it smell so good and I taste the pork broth it was ligh5 and full of flavor and amazing broth. The tonkatsu ramen is probably one of the best ramen I've had in a long time. The broth is not overly salty or greasy but full of umami. It almost feels natural to want to keep drinking the soup. I also like that the noodles are thin so you get to enjoy your meal and pace yourself without getting bloated quickly. I got pork slices and the pork was very tender and they taste great with the house spicy sauce and gyoza sauce. Id definitely come back here after a late night of work since there's plenty of parking and this shop is open later than other ramen places. The service is great and friendly. I didn't feel rushed to leave and when new customers were entering bout 45 min before closing, the staff didn't show disgruntlement or dissatisfaction. I only mention this tidbit since I have seen how the quality of customer service changed when is near closing time for restaurants and staff only care about rushing to leave. The reason why I can't give this place 5 stars is because I haven't tried Atleast 50% of the menu. I got seated fairly quickly as not many people were there. The service was bit weird pacing wise. It took about 10 minutes for me to be able to make my order, and then another 20 minutes for the ramen. After I finally got my ramen, the wait staff was checking on me every 2 minutes to see if I needed anything. Definitely unusual for service. I ended up getting the tonkotsu ramen without any extra added spice. There were quite a few green onions for a tonkotsu ramen. The egg was quite good. The broth was standard tonkotsu broth. The chashu was too thinly sliced for my taste. I prefer the chashu pork to be slightly thicker for tonkotsu ramen. Overall it's a solid ramen restaurant, but there are quite a few like this in SGV. read more

Haruya is easily one of my favorite ramen restaurants in LA! A few of my friends in Alhambra recommended it to me, and when I saw that Haruya specializes in Tonkotsu Ramen, I knew I had to try it. First, I really like the location and appreciate how easy parking is (there's a parking lot with plenty of space). The restaurant inside is also really beautiful and clean, and the staff is super nice and immediately greets us when we enter. The first time I came and I had questions about the menu, the staff was really kind and answered my questions and gave me recommendations based on what I like! I've been here a few times and have tried both the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Miso Ramen, and honestly both are absolutely amazing. One of my friends who comes here pretty often has also raved about their veggie ramen, so I'd say that's worth trying too. They have lots of great options for appetizers but my favorites here are the takoyaki and gyoza. My friends/family and I love ordering these to share, and they come out nice and hot. For drinks, I'd definitely recommend the iced matcha latte. Highly recommend Haruya Ramen and can't say enough about how amazing the food and service here are!
