Solid sushi place 4.5 with a variety of rolls to choose from including tempura and bento. We ordered a side of shrimp tempura which was good. Service was a bit understaffed for a Sunday lunch time but was prompt and very friendly. Restaurant is clean and nice decor.

We saw this sushi spot located near the new Starbucks location off Valley Blvd. between Atlantic Blvd. & Fremont Ave. It was pretty empty when we got there. We order two lunch bento boxes with 3 items each. One bento box had double California rolls and mixed tempura. The second bento box had sashimi, chicken teriyaki, and shrimp tempura. Food was pretty good, but not great. Didn't like the salad dressing tho. Nice and friendly service. Small parking lot in the park or street parking is also available. Not sure how long this place will stay open since the previous restaurant wasn't here that long. Felt like it's the location that's not attracting enough foot traffic.

What a darling little sushi restaurant. The service was very attentive. The chef made the food quickly. There does seem to be a pretty formulaic approach to creating their rolls, with most rolls have some variation of cucumber and avocado. Thankfully, the menu features rolls that are light on cream cheese. Cream cheese always seemed like taking the easy way out. The fish topping the rolls was very fair in size and the rolls were appetizing in appearance. Honestly, I love a little hole in the wall plate. Give them a try. It's quiet. Quick. And polite. Side note: no fountain drinks. It's canned soda for you.

Great service. Food was really good and reasonably priced. The bento lunch special combos were a great deal and a good portion of food. The fish here was fresh and tasted good. The miso soup was delicious. The strawberry Ramune soda was delicious! HAPPY SUSHIING!

Great sushi spot on Valley! Delish food and clean spot to dine in, with TVs. Tried the bulgogi bowl and check bowls - both were delish! Richard the owner was very kind and I look forward to coming back!

Such a cute sushi spot! My boyfriend and I would always pass by but never caught the name, so one day we decided to give it a try and we're so glad we did. The restaurant was quiet, clean, and had great service. Most importantly, the food was amazing! I ordered the bento box, which was perfect because I was craving both a teriyaki bowl and sushi. It came with miso soup too, so it really hit the spot. My boyfriend got the Volcano Roll, which was 20% off as part of their special roll promotion. Our total came to about $32, which felt like an incredible value for the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. I honestly have no complaints. This is definitely our new go-to sushi spot!

Visited: January 2026. Monday ~2:30pm. I happened to walk by, asked if they were open, and had the honor of being their first customer! Setting: The restaurant is brand new and spotless. The booth I chose was comfy and spacious. They also have TVs. Wait Time: None since they're still new. I imagine this place will become much busier once others catch on. Food/Drink: I asked if they serve alcohol and was told, "not yet," so maybe a liquor license is in the works? I ordered a Coke and a few food items to try. - Spicy Tuna Bomb ($12.50): Spicy tuna, avocado, and jalapeno on crispy rice. Good flavor and the rice had the perfect crunch. Still thinking about this days later. - Chirashi Bowl ($24.95): A big bowl of fish and toppings over a bed of rice. I can't remember everything in it, but it included salmon, tuna, maybe yellowtail, green onions, seaweed salad, seaweed, daikon radish, and lots of rice. Yummy and filling! - Yellowtail Avocado Cut Roll ($8.95): Delicious! I ordered this one to-go and unfortunately forgot to take a picture. Service: The staff were so warm and friendly! The time between ordering and receiving my food was reasonable. Parking: I walked here, but there's a small parking lot in the back and plenty of free street parking. Next Time: I'll be back soon for more of the Spicy Tuna Bomb and to try their bento box.

this is somewhat a new place & i wanted to try it out! honestly solid 4 stars! i picked up my order right on time through the website. in addition, it was my first bento box & i didn't know what to expect. it was really tasteful! i got korean bbq beef, salmon roll, and spicy tuna roll for my entrees. (my fav was the beef)! & the rice in my bento box tased like it's been sitting and was cold. it comes with miso soup, pretty okay, but there was no seaweed. to rate the sushi it's yummy, but maybe not the freshest, but still good! * the spicy tuna roll (3.5/5): wasn't spicy really and lacked flavor but was decent! * salmon lover (4/5): very fulfilling! but not all of them had eggs.

We tried out this new sushi place called "O Sushi" two weeks in a row. It's located on Valley and Ethel Ave. in Alhambra. We saw that it had a "Now Open" sign at the entrance. It seemed like not many people knew about this place yet. The place is spacious and clean, with some Japanese decorations. We got there around 1 p.m. for both visits, and there were not many people inside. They have a promotion: all rolls are 20% off. The first time I ordered a bento box for my mom, a spider roll, an eel avocado roll, and a salmon avocado roll for my daughters and me. You can choose 3 items for the bento box. The bento box also included a bowl of miso soup. On the second visit, we also ordered a bento box ($17.95) for my mom because she liked more varieties and she did not eat raw food. Other orders were Sashimi Salad ($15.95), Spicy Tuna Roll ($7.95 +20% off cut roll for 8 pieces), and baked scallop roll ($16.95+20% off). We saw that only one guy was making sushi. The service was a bit slow, but the lady was very friendly. My mom liked her bento box with teriyaki chicken, California roll, and shrimp tempura (3 pcs). The Eel Avocado roll and Spider roll also tasted good. The best one was the Sashimi salad. It was very delicious and fresh. However, I waited quite a bit long time for my baked Scallop roll because they almost finished the food, and I was still waiting for my order. Because this is a new business, I hope that they can improve the speed of the order. It's still a nice place to hang out with family and friends because the place is spacious and clean, and their food is delicious. The price is also good with the 20% off for all rolls. Food: 4.5 out of 5 stars Ambiance: 4 out of 5 stars Service: 3.5 out of 5 stars

We discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant. It is very clean, has great service, and offers high-quality food. The ingredients are very fresh, and the seasoning is excellent. We especially love the Salmon Lover and Beef Teriyaki. The beef quality is outstanding--it is hand-cut and marinated in-house, completely different from the tough, rough texture you often get elsewhere.

    Tuna Sushi (2pc)

Horrible tuna quality. Not sure if I was there on an off day because there are so many positive reviews. The prices are fairly low and dine in had some roll sales. I only had salmon, yellowtail, and tuna sushi. Well I couldn't even eat the tuna I was terrified to even try it because it was neon pink. I also had a spicy tuna hand roll that was okay and assorted tempura also okay but the sauce was flavorless. Maybe next time I'll try a roll but I doubt I'll be back because there are so many other great sushi restaurants in the area. Service was okay and the restaurant seemed clean since it's fairly new.

    Assorted Tempura Miso Soup

I've already been coming to this new location regularly since they opened, and it's quickly become one of my favorite sushi spots in the area. The restaurant is always clean, comfortable, and has a really welcoming atmosphere. Today I had the tempura and miso soup, and both were excellent. The tempura was perfectly crispy and light without feeling greasy, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The miso soup was simple but very comforting and flavorful. Also the service was great! Definitely recommend checking this place out!

    Bento Box

Been here twice in one week and the food was good first time I ordered the bento box and it's pretty big for the price. The place was empty, sushi chef came and asked if the spicy tuna wasn't too spicy but it was perfect. There was a strong sewer smell inside the restaurant not sure if it's from the construction going on outside? Went back a 2nd time and the smell was still there, construction is still going on so not sure where it is coming from. Overall the place is good, I had the salmon lover roll, spicy tuna roll and the lobster roll all were very good.

In any case, we spent about thirty minutes perusing the aisles of Sprouts and chatting outside before our table was ready. As an appetizer, we ordered the Ika Geso, fried squid legs which had a crispy texture dipped in the fresh flavors of aioli and lemon juice. For the main course, we went with family style and ordered the following rolls: Refresh, Truffle Seared Salmon, Ultimate Yellowtail, and Black Spider. My minor complaint would be the irregularly shaped portions of the Black Spider with some fried crab sticking out being slightly awkward to eat. Other than that, everything tasted fresh and unique, especially the Refresh and Truffle Seared Salmon. For three people, I'd say it's a decent amount of food without stuffing yourselves and having leftovers.

When I asked if the bento came with miso soup the waiter said no, but I could substitute the salad for miso soup instead, which I did. Surprised, since most bento boxes I've had include miso soup by default. The chicken was underwhelming lacked flavor, plus a lot of fatty, chewy bits and bone fragments. The crab rolls were basically a California roll with crab swapped in, no toppings, no sauce, nothing special. Ramen was decent, generous noodles, two pieces of pork, but pretty basic. Not sure if ownership or management changed since my last visit, but compared to my previous review, a lot feels different, makes me wonder if the food quality shifted too. Overall, not sure I'll be back anytime soon. Fine as a last resort if nothing else is open, but wouldn't go out of my way.

Been a year since my last update so thought I'd update my review!…read more They're open daily from 11am-7pm Love that they are expanding and the business next to them is going to turn into a place for dine in experience! How exciting! Parking can be difficult since it is pretty small and this spot is always busy regardless of the time and day! NOTE: You can only enter thru the back door by the parking lot because the front door is usually locked. Inside has such much variety of sushi, Japanese merchandise and groceries, as well as a fish market located all the way in the back. The fridges are packed with lots of variety of sushi and bowls. Love how you can choose any fish from the glass window and the staff will ask whether you want it sliced or not. The line is always long so be prepared to wait but it moves quite fast. Pricing is so reasonable and most of the sushi are $9+. Such a steal! Staff was friendly and welcoming. I used my SGV Food Passport and redeemed a free salmon avocado roll (or California Roll). What a deal! It came with 12 mini rolls packed with salmon and avocado. The salmon was so fresh and delicious! This is one of my favorite rolls there so glad I got it free! I also got the Unagi Sushi. It consisted of 12 mini eel rolls. It was stuffed with eel and packed with flavor. It tasted so yummy and fresh. Definitely one of my favorites! Last but not least, got the Nigiri! It consisted of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. This was my absolute favorite! It was so buttery and fresh. It literally melted in my mouth but how soft it was. The portion of fish was so generous and so good! Absolute must get! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and my food so I'll definitely recommend and return.

I've been coming to Yama Seafood for over 25 years, going all the way back to my high school days…read moresince it was nearby. My mom and late dad knew the previous owner, Yamada-san, before I was born. I've introduced many of my friends to Yama Seafood over the years, and my friends and I would often come here after school to get sushi. Walking in here still brings back a lot of memories--especially from the days when you could enter directly from the street. In my opinion, Yama Seafood has some of the freshest fish and best selections in the area. There have been many times when I've purchased regular bluefin here and had friends think it was actually bluefin chu-toro because the quality was that good. My usual fish purchases are bluefin chu-toro, regular bluefin, salmon, Hokkaido scallops, and yellowtail. I also almost always grab a pack of California rolls, tamagoyaki, and ikura (salmon roe) to go with the fish. For the quality and selection of the fish, I would easily give Yama Seafood 5 stars. However, I'm not nearly as fond of the new ownership and management. I really preferred the feeling and customer service of the old Yama Seafood. Someone else in the reviews mentioned feeling the same way, and I completely understand where they're coming from. The old way was more personal. Yes, sometimes orders took a while because Yama-san himself was cutting and preparing the orders, but you knew who you were dealing with. If I had a question, I could ask Yama directly. If he wasn't available, I could ask the store manager, and they could get an answer from Yama. There was a direct connection between the customer and the person making the decisions. Now, unfortunately, it feels like Yama Seafood is being run like a corporation--100000%. The business expanded very quickly after the purchase, and it has become much more difficult to communicate with the actual decision-maker or owner. I was given the email addresses of the "boss" by the manager, and I've sent multiple emails but have never received a response. That's probably my biggest disappointment with the new management. Regardless of how a company is structured or who owns it, I think basic customer communication is important. When a longtime customer takes the time to reach out with a question or concern, especially after being directed to contact the person in charge, a simple response would go a long way. Maybe the new ownership simply has a different philosophy about customer service, or perhaps the business structure has changed significantly. Whatever the reason, the personal feeling that Yama Seafood used to have is unfortunately missing. That said, the fish quality and selection are still excellent, and that's the main reason I'm giving Yama Seafood 4 stars. I've been coming here for more than 25 years, and I genuinely want to see the business continue to do well. If the new management could improve its customer service--especially something as simple as responding to emails from longtime customers--I would have no hesitation giving this place 5 stars. The product is already there. It's the customer service and communication that need some work. And honestly, I don't care if the owners respond to this review just to "show face" on Yelp. I'm not looking for a public response or an apology. Just reply to the emails from your customers. Simple as that.
