I used to like this place when it was within the first 1 to 2 years of opening. Since then, it's went downhill. The flavor is not what it used to be unfortunately. I got their Spicy Ramen with Popcorn Chicken on the side and the broth felt less rich and did not have the umami I was looking for. The chicken was just... chicken. The service was decent and the ambiance was okay. There are better ramen places in the area now so I won't come back most likely.

Drove over for lunch on a Monday. The parking in the back is small and kind of a dead end. We drove over to the plaza parking and walked over. Very small place. We wrote our name down and waited 20-25 minutes. Since we had a toddler they gave us a table for two. We ordered the Tonkotsu and my husband ordered the spicy ramen. We also got a bowl of popcorn chicken to share. Popcorn chicken was good and a good amount. They actually give a lot of ramen. My daughter and I shared a bowl. Texture of the ramen was good. I do have to say it takes a bit for the food to come out. Bathroom is in the back. You have to go outside and through their parking lot.

Kosuke is a cozy Japanese restaurant tucked off Main St., and honestly, I'd passed by it countless times without realizing it was even a restaurant. There's usually a cluster of people waiting at the entrance, but I never connected the dots until my husband and I decided to try it for the first time. Thankfully, we came at the perfect moment--no line, and only two tables left in this quaint little spot. The dining area is tiny, maybe eight or nine seats total, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The front is run by sweet, hospitable Japanese ladies who make you feel welcome the minute you walk in. What we ordered: * Takoyaki - ~$5.95 Six pieces, and they tasted freshly made in-house. Soft, creamy inside with a crisp outside--really well done. * Potato Croquette - ~$4.95 Three generously sized pieces, fried perfectly golden and deliciously comforting. * Spicy Ramen - $15.99 (+$1.50 for rice & curry) The curry on the side was incredibly flavorful, and the rice paired so well with it. A great hearty option. * popcorn chicken udon The broth was light, clean, and refreshing, and the noodles were al dente with that perfect bouncy bite. It came with a side of popcorn chicken, which was surprisingly tasty and well-seasoned. * Pork Katsu with Curry Combo We ordered this for our son, and it was fantastic--crispy pork, rich curry, and a satisfying portion. Overall: We loved everything about this place--the food, the service, the cozy vibe--and we're absolutely coming back. This is officially our new Japanese ramen spot!
Came in for a quick lunch! I saw outside on the window there little signs and what caught my eye was the chicken bowls. I stepped inside past the curtain and there were quite a bit of ppl in there! You can't even tell from the outside. It's such a hidden gem' I yet have to try there ramen I'll wait for the winter. I tried out there summer specials so cal chicken bowl. It came with a little bit of salad, avocado, rice and chicken teriyaki . Freshly made! It was so good and tasty . The flavors were delicious. I ordered some egg rolls for appetizers and they were delicious. I've never seen somebody cut them in half like that and fry them. It's definitely a game changer for me! The location is small. I saw a few ppl grab food to go instead of dine it. Can't wait to come Back for ramen !
We got the spicy ramen, sesame oil ramen (forgot name), and fried squid. The ramen had good portion sizes, we both had to take to go boxes. The fried squid was a bit chewy compared to other places I've had. Overall not bad! If you post on instagram you get a free ice cream.
I've been here a handful of times and I definitely think this is one of the best ramen spots in SGV for its price! Their portions are huge for their price, tasty, and their other dishes hold up just as well to their ramen. I looove their katsu. Recently, they've shrunk their croquette sizes from 3 full circles to 3 halves (1.5 croquette). My family, accustomed to the original serving, had ordered two plates of croquette for our party of 5 expecting 6 circles, but received 6 halves. For about $5 a plate, I feel like at least 2 croquettes is appropriate. Overall, I do think Kosuke is still worth a visit. The portions and taste for everything else is still amazing for its price.

I'm still trying to find a wow this ramen blows my mind place but this one was good enough. I'm not a ramen guy but it was a pleasurable experience. Ambience is cozy, we got there at like 6:30pm on a Sat and we beat the crowd. Had the spicy ramen with chashu. Noodles were a good texture, broth was rich, pork was sweet and savory, toppings complemented the soup. I asked for extra spicy, it was definitely spicy but not hallucinating, just enough to burn the palate. *Next day update: Things are hurting and burning, lol just what I asked for, so it was spicy enough. Also had a mini curry add-on, tasty like Coco Ichibana, maybe a little sweeter than that. Came with rice and curry. Popcorn chicken was delightful, I had some of a friend's order. I posted on my IG story to get FREE tasty and creamy green tea ice cream.
Ordered their popcorn chicken curry rice Togo. They give huge portion of popcorn chicken! It came in a separate bag along with the rice, salad and pickled raddish on one container with a container for the curry. I feel like the popcorn chicken could use some more seasoning. But it was crispy and juicy chicken overall. I really like the pickled radish it comes with.

Visited: May 2026. Thursday ~1pm. I was really craving soup on this cold, windy day. Setting: Small Authentic Japanese restaurant located on Main St. Wait Time: I was seated immediately as a party of 1. I think I ordered and got my first dish served all within 10 minutes of sitting down. Food/Drink: I made it a "ramen set" so I could add on fried calamari. SO much food at a very reasonable price. - Spicy Miso Ramen (~$16): I chose popcorn chicken for my protein and asked for medium spice (3 options). The broth was rich and had a nice kick without being painful. The thin noodles were plentiful and cooked just right. - Popcorn Chicken (protein choice from ramen): MASSIVE pile of lightly battered juicy and thick chicken pieces. - Fried Calamari (+$3.50): These were cooked to perfection. The batter was light and crispy and the calamari had texture but was still easy to chew. Service: Great. The waitress was kind, food came out quick, and she even packaged up my leftover popcorn chicken! 3% charge for cards which was fine. Parking: There's a parking lot behind the restaurant, but it's kind of small. There's plenty of free street parking, structures, and some open air lots around. I parked on 5th St. Next Time: I'll switch it up and try their Unadon or any of the udon bowls next time. read more

I've been a customer of Kosuke for 10+ years and the service and food has remained consistent. The popcorn chicken ramen is absolutely delicious. I always order it with mild spice, and chicken on the side. I have ordered it with medium spice before, but it is almost painfully spicy for me. The food is always fresh and delicious! Also, make sure to get the side of gyoza with your ramen for $1! The restaurant is tiny, and can be especially crowded on cold/rainy days. We usually order by phone and take it home on days it is crowded. read more

I can't believe it took me this long to give Kosuke a try. The place is so close to where i live, but since it kinda looks like a bar, i thought they must be premium ramen. I was wrong. They have the most reasonably priced side/fried food. If you love ramen and sometimes you skipped the fried sides because it cost nearly the same like the ramen, you'll be delighted to find that Kosuke offers great fried sides that does not break the bank. Great price aside, they really don't skimp on quality. If i have to find three words to describe Kosuke, it's high discipline craft. Everything is done perfectly. The ramen broth is rich but not too thick. The noodle is more like somen, as in thin noodles, cooked perfectly that it's soft and yet not breaking. I smelled a little hint of ginger, making the flavor profile rich but refreshing. They added ginger in such a way that not only it's not overpowering, you can't find it unless you really try. Finding them as a surprise in a few of your bites truly gives a deeper experience. I ordered the spicy ramen, and the spicy doesn't come from your run of the mill red chilli oil. There's indeed a layer of oil that has aromatic spicy scent. Marvelous. And lastly, they added the right part of green onion that when you scoop the broth and chew the green onion, it gives an even deeper flavor to the broth. Chashu also immaculate. Normally you find chashu that is charred with butane torch. Sometimes it's too charred or not enough. Kosuke cooked their chashu perfectly. It's tender but not breaking. Not dry. Not gamey. It's just smooth. The fried gyoza was just okay for me. Don't get me wrong, they cooked it perfectly as well, it's just that i've been spoiled with gyozas with insane level of garlic and green onion. Gyoza skin was fried to crisp and the filling tastes mild and smooth. But the cherry on top was the fried horse mackerel. Must be the most perfect panko fry ever. Crispy, not so oily, and even the tail is nicely crunchy. It has slight fishy flavor in the best way possible. Normally when you get fried fish, it tastes more as fried fritter than actual fish. Kosuke managed to get the perfect balance where you can still taste the fish AND the panko fry. Absolutely wonderful. Even the black mushroom and bamboo shoots is perfect as well. The black mushroom was not dry and not tough. Bamboo shoots is not stinky at all. It was quite a 'fight' to finish everything. They really make your money worth; that's a lot of quality food for the price. Service was amazing too. And the best part of it is that they provide amazing service that is curt and efficient. You don't have to nod with your mouth full trying to answer to questions like "how's everything?" read more

This location requires street parking. It's a fairly small place within enough seating for small groups. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. I've only gotten the curry here thus far but it's been good. The popcorn chicken variant seemed to have an extra kick in the curry. Unsure if it was just that day but the spice level built up as I ate. It wasn't bad just unexpected. The other curry dish at the table wasn't spicy though. But if you like popcorn chicken and want to elevate it then this dish would be serviceable. I'd still return here for the other dishes! Kosuke Ramen... just delicious. A little gem tucked away in Alhambra. I've been coming here for years, and now I've realized just how popular this spot has gotten. I used to never have to wait, but now I find myself waiting a good 30 minutes to 1 hour just to get seated. So, make sure you come as early as possible. My go-to order is the Spicy Popcorn Chicken Ramen with the Popcorn Chicken on the side. It always hits the spot for me and the portion is so large, I always have enough chicken to take home with me for a late-night snack. On my most recent visit, I've noticed that they finally accept credit cards with a 3% transaction fee. I also noticed they finally changed the movie on the TV they have placed in the corner, LOL! Ordered: - Kuro Ramen with popcorn chicken (3.5/5): soup was a bit too oily for my liking and surprisingly somehow also tasted a bit watered down / not as rich as I had expected? Popcorn chicken was super yummy though. - Croquette on the side (5/5): super basic but yummy. Perfect level of crispiness and was so comforting to eat even during a heat wave. - Cold Spicy Miso Ramen with chashu, additional egg (3.5/5): Perfect seasonal item for a hot day. Portions were big and refreshing, but the taste wasn't groundbreaking. Overall (3.5/5): It didn't live up to our expectations, but is a good staple spot if you're a local. The interior is small and old fashioned, so the wait can be pretty long on certain days. The service was attentive, and we have no qualms there. read more

I have been coming to Kosuke for years, my son's invite once and I got hooked I told so many friends and everyone loved it. The Popcorn Chicken Ramen is their specialty so good. The service is wonderful The ladies are so sweet and welcoming always with a nice smile and make sure you get out satisfied. The Ambiance is fine It is a small place very well done. Kosuke was a cute and quaint ramen shop that I found while walking around Main St. Alhambra. I popped into the restaurant around 6pm and was quickly greeted by one of the servers. There were a few small parties inside, but I had no problem with grabbing a table of my choice. Service was great. Friendly staff, and the food came out in a timely manner. I didn't expect high attentiveness, but it was nice that they checked in on me once in a while. I'm not a pork eater, so I was pleased to find that I had a lot of options on the menu. I got agedashi tofu to start, and it was honestly one of the best I've had because of the great balance of sweetness and umami flavor in the dashi sauce. The tofu was also nicely firm and fried. For my entree, I got the medium spicy ramen with popcorn chicken. I also upgraded it with a side of fried calamari rings. As much a I enjoyed the soup, I could only get through half. The broth had the perfect amount of spice for me, but it was heavy on sodium. It also didn't help that all the protein I ordered was battered and deep fried. I appreciated how crispy the popcorn chicken pieces were. You could dunk them and leave them swimming in the broth, and they still maintained their crunchy coats of batter. read more
This is definitely a local gem in Alhambra! It's a quaint restaurant nestled on Atlantic and 6th. There's limited parking slots in the back. My favorites are the agedashi tofu, chicken curry cutlet and the chicken karaage! I eat here at least twice a month for my staples above. Generous serving and the quality of food hasn't changed in the years I've been frequenting this place. Definitely bookmark this restaurant if you're craving simple Japanese food that satisfies the palate and stomach. Agedashi tofu is a must try; it's lightly battered with the perfect amount of crunch complemented with the savory dashi sauce. read more

I'm not super fan of ramen BUT Kosuke changed my mind. I had the spicy miso ramen and it was delicious. Our server was kind and took our order right away. Will definitely come back. Also, the popcorn chicken was crunchy, spicy and fresh. read more

Great ramen. Best in town. I was advised to order the spicy ramen with popcorn chicken on the side. Such a great duo. Dip the fried chicken and enjoy the crunch and the spiciness of the broth. This place is small so seating is limited. Wall in, sign in and wait! Worth the wait. Great service and great tasting ramen. read more

It is very easy to miss this spot on Main St! We came before it started getting crowded so there was no wait at all, though when we were leaving, there was a crowd waiting outside (in the rain!) Service was very kind and attentive to our needs, checking on us frequently. The table shared the fried chicken and I got the tonkotsu ramen. The fried chicken was crispy and had nice flavor. The tonkotsu ramen had a nice broth and was flavorful, but it wasn't the best I've ever had. My parents had the spicy miso and enjoyed it a lot, especially the spice level of the dish! Parking is easy to miss, it is a very small entrance and parking can be limited, especially if there is a large crowd. read more

Is new ownership or new cooker? I been here long time this is my one of best ramen place. I ordered today, soup taste light chiken and egg little different. I hope not
I also wondered if it was different, went into the bathroom and the kitchen crew looked totally different. Didn't see the old Japanese lady or her daughter.

Sorry, I do not no the answer to ownership. However, everyone who work there speak Japanese.

Yes they are. Monday thru Friday is Dinner Only. Saturday is Lunch and Dinner.

No, they're not

Currently no, it's a small spot and looked to be only open for takeout for now. Would suggest calling in an order for takeout/pick-up

Yes it is! Call ahead and they will have it ready in about 15 minutes. Parking is in the rear.
Is this place taking phone orders?
Yes they are. They are just busy with orders so keep trying and you will eventually get hold of them
Do they have Vegetarian/ Vegan ramen?
You can get the vegetable ramen but ask for no dashi/bonito in the miso broth. They were able to accommodate my vegan friend easily :)
