Husband's desserts

I really wanted to try this place, and hubby and I were in the area so it was the perfect time. We had the senior lunch at 1 pm plus a drink which came out to $37 which was a steal. The service was friendly and I liked the tall ceiling and air conditioning. The food was meh. To be honest I should have tried the Mongolian bbq but I just chose from the hot menu. The chow mein noodles were over cooked and the egg roll had a weird flavor. I liked the fried chicken and baked chicken wings. The hot & sour soup was not good. The dessert was not bad . My husband said the salad was good. The sushi did not look appetizing. I really wanted to like this place, but sadly I was somewhat disappointed. I really liked that the price though.

Average buffet spot. Nothing too special. They have a big salad bar and probably the best part is the Mongolian bbq counter; grab a bowl, put in what you want and let them cook it for you. Came during lunch and there were plenty of seatings. You pick your spot. Overall, average spot.

Food selection is little. Only thing worth eating is the prime rib cut Going Monday - Thursday before 5pm is quite the deal Great deal to eat for Seniors, Ages 60+

I learned the hard way that the hype is due to the lower price point. The quality is not high. We left feeling disappointed -- nothing was tasty. We came for the sushi. There were very few nigiri varieties. As depicted, the tuna and salmon were always out. The sushi rolls offered had little fish. Not assembled by a chef. I make better looking and better tasting rolls at home. My boys were so frustrated. The next thing we wanted to try was the Mongolian bbq as not all buffets have a station like this. It was disgusting. Everything tasted burnt from all the brown on the surface. This lady was so far behind, she not only did not clean the grill, she started putting the plastic bowls DIRECTLY ON THE HOT GRILL SURFACE. It was a long wait to get cooked food. We took one bite and had to toss the whole thing. This lady also did not add any broth to the bowls. If you've been to real Mongolian BBQ place, the chef helps each order get a nice flavor with added broths and monitoring what needs what to cook properly. The food we got here was a mess of burn and unflavored bleh. Remember the plastic bowls on the grill... Carcinogenic... I'm Chinese and the Chinese food was BAD. The beef and broccoli - the people cooking the beef did not drain the beef fat. So greasy and heavy. I again must assume they are not hiring chefs. Who makes this kind of rookie mistake batch after batch? Is there no manager supervising the quality of the food? The shrimp here mostly came from a frozen bag. There were whole shell on shrimp that was so overcooked that they stuck to the shell. I joked that this was purposeful to slow people down. Dessert bar was tasteless. I ran out of things to try. Disappointing to not have found even one thing to enjoy. I think the root of the problem are the bus boys or girls manning stations where a cook should have been. There was a long line to get in. Don't be duped. It's for the low price. Go elsewhere for a few more dollars. We won't be return customers.

3.7 stars. Quality is on the lower side but that is to be expected for the price you are paying. Came with a party of 4 and it was around $20 per head. The selection of food was decent but the quality of each item was on the lower side. They have a Mongolian stir fry bbq in the middle that was not bad. You can customize what you want and add whatever sauces. The ingredients looked fresh but the meat became pretty tough and dry after it was cooked. There's sushi in this place but the quality is very low. The fish wasn't that fresh and the sushi rice was a touch undercooked. Overall, this is a pretty decent buffet that'll make you full.

Our first time going to the Paradise Buffet in Montebello, and it's been on my bookmark for a while. We were craving for AYCE buffet today, so we decided to try this place. Their price is very reasonable and affordable. Adult price $20.69 (same price for the whole day on Sunday), and senior price $19.69. We got there around 1:20 p.m. today, and we lined up for less than 10 minutes, then the server took us to a table to be seated. They have many different varieties of food, including Japanese (sushi), Chinese hot food, Mongolian BBQ, American food, and desserts. But don't expect that they have much seafood. (only shrimps, crabs & mussels, but NO clams, Oysters, or King Crab legs because you paid only $20.69.) The sushi quality was decent, they were fresh, but the sushi rice was not soft enough, and they were kinda dry. We liked that they had different sushi rolls, but without sashimi. For the Chinese hot food, the quality was mediocre. Some flavors were a bit salty. However, we liked the pork ribs, the mushrooms were very delicious and flavorful, and some noodles. The soups were okay. I had the clam chowder. We liked the Mongolian BBQ section because they had a lot of ingredients for you to choose from, and the section was big. It's different than other AYCE places, just providing a small section. We also liked that they gave you a number with a pager and let you know when your order is ready, then you go pick up. (Smart idea that you don't need to stand there, and you can go back to your table or get other stuff- decrease the clutter of people waiting.) Even though the meat quality was frozen and dry, we liked that they offered a lot of ingredients to choose from.) American food section- they had Mac N Cheese, French Fries, Pizza, fried chicken, fried shrimp, some mashed potatoes, etc.). I didn't try a lot of this section, so I couldn't comment on this section. Another plus that we liked was the dessert section. Many AYCE buffet places in the San Gabriel Valley (besides the buffets in Vegas) don't have many dessert options, or their desserts are not good. However, Paradise Buffet has many dessert options, and their desserts were decent. Their soft serve ice cream was so good, and they even had cotton candy. In conclusion, we liked their sushi (not the sushi rice), pork ribs, Mongolian BBQ (lots of varieties & ingredients), and desserts (cakes & ice cream). For the hot Chinese food, they were mediocre. Good service and friendly staff. Overall, I would give them 3.5 stars for the price we paid.

I have been coming for dinner when I don't want to cook. It is easy to get table if you come a bit early, and on the weekdays. The staff always nice and they keep picking up the dishes esp when it is not too busy.

Cost: -4 yo Kid $4.76 -2 Adults x $20.69 = $41.38 The wife wanted a Chinese Buffet for dinner and I wasn't going to say no. She picked the worst time tho as it was an early Sunday evening. You have all the church going folks going out to eat. We had to wait in line for about 30 minutes or so. There's a lots of different food options. There's a massive Mongolian BBQ area where you can select your meats, veggies and sauces and you get a pager that will beep when dishes are cooked and ready to be picked-up. There's a full dessert section and sushi bar. Whatever you could think of or desire they probably have it. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. I would definitely come back here. Perhaps, we can try a weekday when there's less people.

Even though it was quite a drive for me to get there, overall I really enjoyed it. We were meeting here to celebrate my friend's mother birthday. It's located in a large plaza with multiple businesses around, so parking near the front of the buffet, it's a hit or miss. I was able to find parking fairly quickly. As you walk into the buffet, it's a single line to pay. After that, we were greeted by a host which directed us to where our party was located. As for the food: 1) the sushi was great compared to some other buffets that I have visited in the past. They have a machine that creates the blocks of rice for sushi making. 2) the Mongolian grill is available for those who would like some. 3) Dessert area is nice and clean at all times. So for the 4-stars is that 4) Drinks: they only have one soda machine for the entire buffet. In addition, it's tuck between the the cash register and the bathrooms.

Came here for dinner about a month ago! This new buffet replaced the classic Hometown Buffet over here. I'd say for the price ($22.31 per person) it's pretty affordable for a buffet these days but I'd much rather go to other slightly more expensive ones for better food options. I appreciate the Hibachi grill station + bbq meats cuts, and the lightly cut sushi (wish there was more bigger cuts!). If you're really hungry and in the area this is a good place to go without breaking the bank. But if you have time and don't mind spending an extra $10 I'd consider somewhere else like Golden Hibachi Buffet in Alhambra. Inside is just ok, feels a little dirty but no major complaints.

This is a very affordable buffet with a large selection of various cuisines. The place is really clean with a lot of staff constantly cleaning and changing out utensils. They have a large Mongolian hot plate where you can pick out your choice of food and have them cook it. Make sure you add enough sauces because the flavor controlled by yourself. They also have a large sushi roll and nigiri selection. Of course you cannot compare to top tier sushi restaurant, but if you just wanted some rolls, I think it is very sufficient. The rest of the buffet is similar to your typical Golden Corral or Hometown Buffet with American food such as mash potato, fried chicken, corn, cajun seafood, salad, BBQ ribs, etc.

Free parking on lot. Used to be Hometown Buffet. They share the plaza with Smart & Final's. Inside was really nice, remodeled since Hometown Buffet. Came during a weekday lunch. $14.99 for adults. From 2-4pm seniors were $10.99. They have fresh sushi. The grill was pretty neat with lots of options. The salad select was alright. The fresh fruit selection was small. The dessert area had similar desserts from Hometown Buffet. Overall, I really enjoyed the buffet and would come back again.

I love the food they serve here! Very affordable! I had a great experience eating at this restaurant. Everyone was super friendly. Food was absolutely fresh and delicious.

They got our drinks quickly while we went to get our food. Speaking about foods, there were plenty. They have all sorts of foods from seafood to soup, all kinds of meats. They have a nice dessert section as well. Foods were very good. There were too many things to try, didn't get to try everything. It will probably take many trips here to be able to try everything! Shiki is located in a large sized strip mall with shared parking. Like all similar lots in the area, it gets overcrowded and there are not enough spaces for the number and popularity of the businesses in the mall--there are several other popular restaurants nearby in the mall. Consequently, parking can be challenging. As with many businesses in the SGV area, the Shiki staff are cold to rude due to the constant abuse they take from their rude customers. Due to this situation and likely CA minimum wage laws, Shiki now charges a mandatory gratuity when you pay before you eat. Historically in CA/US, buffets only used to charge you before you eat if they were concerned about getting stiffed. Since there is a major shooting at the corner of their lot about once a year, apparently they are in the kind of neighborhood where entitled or dishonest customer try to eat for free, The food quality has also declined over the year. Apparently, sashimi is considered a premium item now (or has been discontinued???) and is only available at certain times like their crab legs and other premium items. The dim sum at buffets is never stellar, but has really gone down hill here. The hot items used to be ok, and some still are, but none are super exciting. Despite all this, they still get super crowded at peak hours and you can still expect a long wait. Try to go at non-peak times because even with the premium food items it is no longer worth the wait. On recent visits (extended family often forces us to eat here for family meals), we have had tummy trouble afterward. Although this is probably one of the only Asian buffets still operating in the immediate area, we would recommend fighting traffic to go elsewhere if possible, If not, then expect to pay a lot, be charged a tip up front, and have a mediocre experience at best with the food and quality of service, with possible toilet trouble afterward.

We recently visited for a Christian Dedication reception for our grand nephews (yes - our two new handsome addition to the family), and having the event in their private section made all the difference. Honestly impressive. Whether you're craving crispy fried favorites, saucy classics, battered bites, or made-to-order hibachi, there's something for every kind of appetite. There's a solid variety of options, and you can definitely find something to satisfy whatever you're in the mood for. The Mongolian grill wasn't running during my visit (I believe it's available during dinner hours), so that's something I'd be curious to try next time. The standout for me was actually the soups -- both the hot & sour soup and the miso soup were flavorful and comforting, and I ended up going back for more. Service was fine: nothing over-the-top, but attentive enough to keep things moving smoothly. All in all, it's a decent, no-frills buffet spot. I'd call it a solid 3-star experience, especially if you're nearby and craving variety in one place.

It is similar price range as other buffets ($20) and drinks are paid separate as usual. Refillable fountain drinks if you prefer but having water works too. The sushi is a hit or miss, I had great sushi rolls but other days it might have been sitting for too long. They refill their trays as food is getting less and I like that there's someone around to ask when they will bring a fresh batch. The tables are numbered so it's easy to know where we sit and where we have to go if it gets busy. Utensils are all plastic or one time use, no more checking if the forks are clean! The plates and bowls are still the reusable ones which is what I prefer for getting food. They have a popcorn machine (also a hit or miss in taste and freshness). For food: The crab legs are served cold and their butter is super yellow (it's most likely butter flavored oil). Bbq Ribs are good, served in single ribs, nice bbq flavor. Chicken skewers are still tender and flavorful, will keep having these! Chicken wings (fresh) are soooo juicy and crispy! They have chicken tenders but I didn't try them. No crab Rangoon or sesame balls unfortunately. Baked mussels taste just the same, great creamy sauce on chewy mussels. Coconut shrimp is fried with sweet creamy mayo sauce, it doesn't have coconut shredding so I love it. Beef stirfry is actually great, it had peppers and mushrooms, but the beef is tender (sometimes not so hit or miss). Ice cream is self serve scooped, they have a sign that it's $2.50 if anyone plans to take ice cream to go. Restrooms are clean when we went, I know during peak hours the restrooms can be a bit gross... Overall I'm glad we came back! Might come back more and hope the experience is good again!

Really affordable buffet. The chicken skewers were really…read moregood, Ribs too. Although we were seated in the large party section food runners/ servers came to check on us pretty frequently. Refill and napkins came as soon as we asked. The Mongolian BBQ was cool, I didn't like it because I got stir fried udon. I should have just gone with the basic egg noodles. We came with a pretty big party, and still the service was very good. Best bang for your buck with top tier service. Good vibe.
