Accidentally found this buffet after gassing up next door. They had so much more food varieties than the usual AYCE places I've been to. My favorite was the stir fried eggplant, shrimp boil, and spicy crawfish. There's sushi but I haven't tried them. There's even Thai iced tea and 12 different kinds of ice cream flavors. The food is ok, no roast duck, BBQ pork, roast pork, beef chow fun, wonton noodle those classic Chinese food, a few selections of sushi rolls, and the Mexican chef doing the Mongolian part took care all the Mexican customers' plates before mine, even the ones behind me got their plates done ahead of me, unlike what he did to all the Mexican customers' plates, all he did to mine was just pour out food to the pan and leave them there, didn't even flip the food once, definitely discriminate. The service was below average, the waitress wouldn't pour water, she just brought the pot over and told us we got to do it ourselves. We paid $30 per person and this was all we got. Starting with the drinks they offered Thai Milk Tea, Olong Milk Tea and Passion Milk Tea along with other fountain drinks. They also offer several flavors of ice cream. As for the main dishes they offer different types of seafood with both crabs and crab legs, shrimp, prawns and fish to name a few and shrimp tempura. They also have a good selection of sushi, fruits and vegetable salad. They offer both beef and chicken dishes along with soups and sweet and meat buns like siopao. Its very busy on a Saturday as the place is packed. Lots of tables and chairs on the main floor. There's also another room on the left side of the buffet when you came in through the doors. I noticed the food disappears fast. Replenishment of food also goes out on the trays quickly. Great staff! The workers are also quick to pick up enmity plates. As far as buffets go, this is the best one in the SGV (hence the 4 stars). Most other ones don't hold a candle to this place and that's saying a lot. Came on Saturday right at opening and everything was freshly cooked and warm. Not sure what the rest of the day offers but coming at opening seems to be the best bet. Actually my second time here, first was about 2 years ago then only recently about 3 wks ago, my uncle invited me for a lunch after his brother's funeral. Food is about the same for every asian buffet everywhere you go. Taste is not bad compared to others. Their teppanyaki grill i must say is better here in taste. I like the way that they have different kinds of drinks, especially that they have a thai iced tea and some other citrus tea. Good selections of ice cream desserts. Gold Haibachi Buffet was an ok experience, my problem was that they seated us in a really sunny and hot area and didn't want to move us. We come to find out later (when getting food/already settled in) that the other section of the restaurant had plenty of seating and seemed a little cooler because it wasn't directly facing the sun. While they had a variety of food, it was hard to please our pickiest eaters (the kids). The food was of average quality (some shashimi was hard/inedible). The best part was probably the hibachi because they cook it for you and you get to pick exactly what you like in it. The most disappointing was probably their little dessert section and their Thai tea. They have a dim sum section which was also ok. I only tried the sticky rice, mango bun, and the little sesame balls though. The fountain drinks were included which was nice & self serve. At one point the Coca Cola ran out. The ice cream self serve station was kind of hit or miss with a long line. At least when scooping the ice cream the barrels were still frozen solid lol Don't bother trying the claw machines up front, they are set to ridiculously hard for anyone to win. We saw so many people play and so did we. There's ample parking in their lot plus nearby businesses. The location is easy to find and parking is usually ample. It's a buffet and while you get all you can eat the food isn't the greatest. Some food was tasty like the green beans, fried rice and gyoza. While other items weren't very good at all like the egg tart and pretty much all of the food like wings, pizza, chicken nuggets, etc. There is ample seating and they never ran out of an item, keeping everything well stocked. There is a larger private room in the back which can be reserved for larger gatherings. My husband's office used it for their holiday party. The walls have some peeling wallpaper so you'd need to ask if you can cover it with decorations as it really does take away from the room. I think if they fixed the wallpaper it would make using this location much more desirable. There was no fee for reserving the room, other than a small deposit, which went towards the final bill. As far as buffets go this is a very solid choice. Especially if you're looking to host a private event. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It was $30.99/per person for the whole day on Mother's Day (no senior rate or other discounts apply on Special Holidays). It was so crowded during lunchtime but we waited only about 20 minutes. They had various food including sushi, sashimi, seafood, steamed, boiled, and stir-fried food. We mostly go to Shiki Buffet in Temple City because they have better quality. The sushi and sashimi at Gold Hibachi were mediocre. The rice was a bit hard and you could taste the fish was frozen. Crab legs were salty. However, we like their hot stir-fried food such as salmon, steamed fish, teppanyaki, and fish maw soup, etc. We opted out of desserts because we tried many Asian buffets and none of them knew how to make good desserts. Okay, let's get this important thing out of the way...if you are ONLY interested in places that serve steamed crab legs and that is an absolute minimum requirement for you, then stop reading this and just move on. Now then, if you enjoy variety of seafood and other Asian foods, then keep reading! 1. Seafood: very strong assortment of choices (see pictures). They have a rotation of a few items depending on when you come on any particular week or day, where I have seen steamed crab legs, fried whole blue crabs, or large steamed/boiled shrimp like what's pictured here in my recent visit. The main cooked seafood choices that you'll always find here include: baked mussels, fried shrimp in spicy salt, clams, sea snails, and crawfish. There is also steamed fish, mayonnaise shrimp, battered shrimp, assortment of sushi rolls, shrimp, salmon sushi, tuna sushi, sashimi (tuna, salmon, yellowtail), green mussels, and raw oysters! 2. Non-seafood: items you'd expect to find include Korean short ribs, stir fry beef, orange chicken, fried rice, chow mein, japchae, and salad bar/cold food options. 3. Hibachi/Mongolian grill: you pick for yourself a variety of meat options (chicken, beef, pork), vegetables (cabbage, onions, broccoli, bell peppers, mushrooms,), tofu, and noodles. Place your plate on the counter and wait for the kind employee prepare your plate. Not a lot of customization once you hand over your plate, but what do you expect? You can add your own extra sauces and seasonings afterwards! 4. Price: decent and fairly priced. Somewhere around $23 for adults. Slightly cheaper for senior citizens and children under 11. Overall: Very happy with this place! I've been here probably 5 times in the past year. No complaints here. Will continue to come back for sure! read more
