Penne pasta with chicken, really good!

One of the best local hidden gems in the 626! I've been coming to Ravello osteria for years. ABSOLUTELY love their pizzas. Recently came on a Tuesday night around 6:30 PM, and surprisingly it wasn't as busy. We came to celebrate a birthday. The decor is very vintage, they have a huge brick pizza oven, which is where the magic happens. It appears that their menu has rotates seasonally because the first time I came perhaps a year ago, we had the pork chop. In our recent visit we had the ribeye. Ribeye is AMAZING by the way, highly recommended by our server. Huge shoutout to our server Meena, who really went above and beyond, he was the star of the night. My favorite pizza from Ravello osteria--the Porco pizza. Must have. It's surely something about their dough that leaves an everlasting impression. So much that I've ordered delivery and takeout many times. One thing Meena also recommended was the seabass. However, this was only available on the weekends. Heads up, this place is CASH ONLY! Make sure you have cash! They also close on Mondays. It also can get quite busy during peak hours on the weekends. Last tip--it can get hot in there during the summer. Parking can be found on the street in front, or you could gamble and park in the back in Dollar Tree's lot (I typically do this).

CASH ONLY - A new, "go-to" Italian spot for me! Delicious dishes! Go try this place and be ready to wait on a Saturday night (table for 4 waited 30min, no reservation). Best dish of the night: Penne with Nduja Sausage and peppers (whole table could not stop eating it. Fav dish for 3 of 4 guests!) We ordered: Baby Mix Salad, spaghetti carbonara, penne w sausage and peppers, and truffle pizza Other highlights, raspberry vinaigrette on the baby mix salad was perfectly light and flavorful. Carbonara was a strong, hearty, SOLID dish. Pizza was also tasty and thinner, Neapolitan style. Ambiance, busy and on the louder side, but that could have been our luck with the table next to us. Dishes on the higher side of $20+ so be prepared for a nicer evening out. The quality of the food is worth the price tag. Would go again!

CASH ONLY and worth it. We dined on a Tuesday around 12:30p there were about 3 other tables besides us. We were a party of 8 and food came out at a reasonable amount of time, entire table's order arrived within 20-25 minutes. Starter bread was so good! It's flat bread drizzled with olive oil and pesto. Perfect amount of crisp and chew. We loved it so much we ordered a large pie of it.. Meatballs Provencal -meatballs were so tender and melt in your mouth, so flavorful. Pork Osso Buco -so tender, fall of the bone! Garlic mash potatoes was so creamy but wasn't mashed fully and you get small chunks of potatoes which I personally prefer. The Asian in me wished we had a side of white rice to pair all the yummy gravy with. Penne Pasta with Organic Chicken -mushroom lover's dream. Sauce was so creamy and tons of mushroom and tender chicken thigh meat. Pasta really absorbed the amazing sauce. Spaghetti with Lobster -great dish and everything ties well together. Tastes just like what you imagine it to taste like. Fennel House Pizza -greens really added some freshness to the salty prosciutto, great balance. Pizza dough is so good; crispy bottom with just the right amount of chew. Calabrian House Pizza -slight kick which added so much flavor. One of our favorites. New York House Pizza -basil adds some freshness to a meat lover's pizza. Simple with a twist.

Was worried it would be super crowded. When I drive by there seems to always be a wait but it was surprisingly roomy inside. They have a few cramped parking spots in the back of the restaurant. I got their mushroom pizza without meat and their mushroom ravioli. The pizza had great dough and thankfully they let us take off the meat. Besides a build your own pizza, there are otherwise no vegetarian options. The mushroom ravioli was my favorite and divine. The umami was in the cheese inside and the sauce on top. Just know that it's in the appetizer section and it's only 4 pieces. Still very rich and filling. Pizza was good as well, not amazing but has good dough. Definitely a few steps above chain pizzas or quick service.

The food is bomb. Cash only. No half-pizza options. It gets packed on weekdays. The Spaghetti Carbonara is very good, and the pizza has a crunchy crust.

Traditional, no frills Italian eatery in the area serves wood fire pizza, fresh pasta dishes, and other food items. We enjoyed our dining experience at Ravello. Didn't mind the wait as it was a Saturday evening. We waited about 15 min before being sat down at one of their communal tables. I actually enjoyed this because everyone from the staff to other guests were super friendly. We ordered a 16 inch New York Pizza and the Spaghetti Carbonara. Everything cooked to perfection. The pizza was quick and the pasta had a nice chew in the noodle that you can only get from fresh pasta. Our server recommended the spicy yellow sauce condiment to enjoy with our pizza and it was yummy! We did enjoy some of their complimentary pizza bread with pesto, but didn't want to spoil our appetite since we were getting pizza. It was yummy too. Everything tasted fresh and we enjoyed our meal! I think the only thing I would say is that the restaurant could use more AC or ventilation because it can be a little stuffy, but it's not a big deal and wouldn't prevent us from going there again. Like everyone also says... cash only and there is an atm in the restaurant. Again, not a big deal.

Old-school Italian spot tucked away at the edge of South Monterey Park in a slightly rundown area. Came for Mother's Day dinner with a party of 11 on a Sunday at 5 PM. Not crowded when we arrived since they open at 5--seated right away. Few long bench tables that's great for big groups. Small parking lot + some street parking. Entire party must be present to be seated. Heads up: CASH ONLY, but they have an ATM inside. Inside feels a little dated. Waiter was friendly and checked in often. Food we ordered: - Pork wings - 5 pork shanks over mashed potatoes, decent size but too much balsamic; too sweet -Arugula salad & chopped salad - fresh, not overdressed -Penne w/ chicken - favorite dish of the night; rich truffle/mushroom flavor, buttery white wine sauce -Spaghetti carbonara - 2nd favorite; solid flavor -Penne w/ sausage - had a kick but a bit oily and missing something -Bolognese pappardelle - skip this; white bolognese tasted off, weird pappardelle texture -Pizzas (fennel, calabrian, pistachio & mortadella) - all just okay; calabrian had the most flavor/spice, fennel lacked topping/flavor, pistachio one was mid and needed more pistachio taste Overall: decent choice if you're craving Italian in the area. Not many Italian spots nearby. Feels very traditional/rustic. Dishes were fairly priced and good portions. Just wish they took card.

We ordered New York Pizza, Pork Osso Buco, and Pistachio and Mottadella Pizza. Food came at appropriate time and tasted good. Food portions are large. We could not finish it. Services were great, friendly and attentive. The restaurant is quite busy. This is a cash only restaurant. Parking on side of Garfield Ave. or in the plaza next to the restaurant. The restaurant is nice and clean.

I forget how great this place is and it's in the heart of SGV. Never disappoints me when it comes to their pastas and pizza. The wood fire oven can be seen as you walk in the venue. Service is very good, and I live the complimentary side bread and pesto sauce to start as starters. Bolognese Papperdelle - this is my favorite dish there, super creamy and full of flavor. The pasta was cooked to perfection. New York Pizza- crust was crispy, all the topping were phenomenal. Cheese was delicious especially. I wish we came with more friends to share or try other entrees, but I'll definitely will come back.

It has been way too long since the last time I was here. When Bollini's closed, I was heartbroken. Why didn't anyone tell me they opened under another name?! Nothing has changed which is the best thing! They now have a location in Huntington Beach under the Bollini's name too. Known for their wood fired Sicilian pizza and cuisine, they have the pizza oven front and center when you walk in. Comp bread and pesto - a taste of their pizza bread, yum Meatball Provencial - so yum! Mushroom Ravioli - delicious Truffle Pizza - truffle pesto, garlic herb oil, fresh mozzarella, porcini and wild mushrooms, prosciutto, basil & parmesan - sooo yum, it's perfection! Arugula Salad - yummy and fresh! Chilean Seabass - just yum. Flakey and meaty and delicious. Rib Eye - huge portion & yum! Sicilian Chili Sauce - this is available on the table and is delicious! Make sure to put it on everything! I like dipping my pizza in it! Yum! Meena is amazing! It's been a while since we had such great service! Hes great! Thank you! Parking is available in the back, street and next door. Definitely recommended!

Parking can get little crazy depending on what time and day you go. CASH only and they have a ATM machine inside in case you are not prepared. The dough on the pizza is amazing. The little bread they give you with pesto as soon as you sit down was super delicious. I knew my choice and yelp recommendation was right. We were driving back from LAX after dropping off family member and was looking for a place to eat on the way and this caught my attention. We were looking at the pizza menu and their "clam pie" caught my attention. It was different from other places and thought it would be good to try and we were happy that we got the clam pie. Generous amount of clam was in there and flavor was just so full with hint of lemon and bacon flavor. Our cioppino came out and it was super good. They must have a huge talent on bread because our cioppino came out with sourdough and that was amazing as well. They have decent selection of beer and wines on the menu. Lot of people were drinking wine but we went with their lager on the menu. They were pretty busy for a Tuesday night. From the outside it looked empty but when you walked in it was a big restaurant. Definitely a spot that we will return to especially for their pizza.

Twice this week, I brought my sister to experience this restaurant and it did not disappoint. We ordered the baby salad, a pizza we created our own, and spaghetti lobster pasta. The pasta was a must if you like seafood. I come here often and the waiters are always friendly. In the summer it can get warm due to the oven but worth it.

They use the same parking lot as Summerfield so it can get busy at some times. I called in to place an order for dinner and it was super easy and convenient. I ordered their Di Pilla Special pizza and a medium Parpadelle special pasta. The total for these dishes came out to be $62. Their portions are quite large since they're a family style restaurant. They also gave us complimentary bread which tasted amazing! I will say that I felt really heavy and full after this meal so this is definitely a cheat meal type of food. Food: Parpadelle Special Pasta (9/10): The noodles are huge and thick and the sauce gets absorbed perfectly. There's mushrooms, spinach, chicken with a white sauce base. They loaded this dish up with sauce which was heavenly. I even dipped my complimentary bread in the sauce because it just tasted that good. The chicken was so soft and wasn't overcooked at all. Between a family of three, there was a perfect amount and didn't have any leftovers. Di Pilla Special Pizza (9/10): Wow, the amount of toppings? Insane. We ordered the medium size which is a 14 inch. There was pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, hamburger, and bacon. I had to go back to their menu to see what toppings there were because wow was there a load full. I thought that the mushroom and bell pepper did overpower most of the slice. We had so many slices left over because of how full each slice makes you. I had it the day after and It was still tasty. I need to come back and try their other menu options. They have so many options to choose from which gets overwhelming because everything sounds amazing!

Service could use a bit more personality, ambiance is original, dated but rustic, old school. We were seated promptly at a booth. Our server arrived shortly, Hubby, of course, ordered a glass of a very good Chianti (the best part of the experience). We took a bit more time to peruse the menu. He knew precisely what he wanted & it took me a bit to decide. The chicken piccata was the winner & I opted for angel hair with plenty of veggies. The table bread was pretty tasty with the balsamic & olive oil. Hubby wasn't all that impressed with his dish but I found it much better than my flavorless meal. Mine lacked depth-- did they season it? It was rather disappointing. I was hoping to have a local Italian restaurant as a go to but sadly, it wasn't at all a great first impression. If Hubby didn't care for his meal, I doubt he would be convinced to revisit to give it another fair shake. At least the Chianti was great choice. Too bad, I had high hopes for Di Pilla's. Service was decent. Dedicated free small parking lot, no outdoor seating.

I will say the bread at this deli was a notch above Jersey Mike's which is definitely a plus as good bread can make or break a sandwich. I am genuinely thrilled to have such an upscale, quiet, and relaxing restaurant right here in my neighborhood. You can truly taste the chef's passion and dedication in every dish. Every time I bring friends here, they are absolutely amazed and delighted by the flavors. We ordered quite a few dishes today. The highlight was the Chilean Sea Bass. The chef served a massive, beautifully thick cut--which is actually the hardest to execute. If overcooked even slightly, Chilean Sea Bass becomes dry and tough. But the timing here was absolutely perfect. It had a gorgeous, golden-brown exterior, while the inside remained incredibly moist, tender, and delightfully springy. The seasoning was spot-on and never overpowering; it wasn't too salty, perfectly preserving the natural, fresh flavors of the sea. We also had the Chicken Bowtie Pasta. I typically avoid chicken dishes at restaurants because they often turn out dry and lack the rich aroma you get from beef or lamb. However, Sage's chef elevates chicken to another level. Rather than using the traditional Cantonese technique of quickly flash-frying in oil (which yields a smooth texture but sacrifices the natural meat aroma), the chef here expertly pan-sears the chicken over extremely high heat for a short time. This creates a deliciously crisp exterior that locks in all the juices and rich flavor. Tossed with perfectly cooked bowtie pasta and cheese, the result is so flavorful and well-balanced that we simply couldn't stop eating! Another great thing about Sage is their incredibly generous portion sizes--we left completely satisfied! We finished our meal with a great cup of coffee and the chef's handmade Tiramisu, drawing a perfect, sweet close to our evening. Highly recommend!
