What a hidden gem!! I was meeting a friend of mine for dinner and we were looking for an Italian spot that was between where we were located. Luckily, we found Il Saggio, and decided we'd give it a try. This was such a great decision because it's really a restaurant worth trying if you're craving some delicious Italian food! The ambiance was quite chill - Nice and clean interior, not too loud, and felt cozy. Perfect spot to catch up with a friend. Service was very friendly and our waitress served us with a smile. Our favorite thing about this place was the price for the quality of food and drinks. Honestly, this place was so affordable. $8 margaritas that were delicious?! Under $25 for a heaping size of delicious pasta?! You absolutely cannot go wrong. garlic bread- 5/5. this was literally free but so good I couldn't stop eating it. Anything with garlic is amazing but it also had this lovely spice to it, and it went so well with the balsamic and olive oil at the table. frutti di mare- 5/5. SO much seafood in this dish and it was perfectly cooked. The sauce was so delicious and I would honestly order this dish over and over again. bolognese- 5/5. I only stealed a bite out of my friend's plate, but it was so good. It was definitely hearty and the flavors were great. margaritas- 5/5. For $8 a pop I wasn't expecting much, but they ended up tasting so good. After two margaritas we were definitely a bit tipsy. It's hard to believe two margs here is the cost of 1 marg at any other restaurant, but it's true! Honestly, i don't know why more people don't know about this place. It's such a steal for delicious food that really tastes home cooked. I will definitely be back whether I'm in the area or not - it's worth a drive to me if I am craving some delicious Italian food!

This was my first time trying this restaurant, and I chose it based on the great reviews. It definitely lived up to the hype--both the food and service were wonderful! I ordered the pasta with salmon in vodka sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. The garlic bread was also amazing--fresh, soft in the middle, and so good that I asked for seconds. I also tried the tiramisu, which was moist and had a rich coffee flavor that I really enjoyed. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of their pasta dishes!

2nd time at this spot and showed up just before high traffic so the vibe has been very chill and relaxed so tables are immediately available. Once they take your order they bring you they bring you feasted bred with fresh garlic and butter/olive oil on top. We use the olive oil and vinaigrette to dip and takes the bread over the top! So far we've had the ribeye, frrutti de mare, lasagna, and the spaghetti Florentino and, twice, the crème brûlée. Definitely recommend! Our Italian spot from now on!

We went there right when it opened on a Sunday. There was an ample parking lot. When we got in, we were kindly greeted and seated. I got the Linguine Alle Vongole and my Fronde got the Spaghetti Fruitti di Mare. The dishes were phenomenal! The prices were reasonable! The waiter was extremely kinda and attentive! Got a wonderful feel and vibe from the place! Oh and I don't want to forget the robot they used to deliver the food! That was quite awesome!! I plan to stop by here again!!

In an unsuspecting building we came at 5 pm on a Thursday and found it surprisingly empty however every dish that we had was amazing, couple of the stars of the show were the Cajun fettuccini, the Cesar salad and the Bruschetta. Very cozy inside the restaurant and has an old school Italian feel , sat in the dining room which was great but the bar area looked nice as cozy as well

Amazing flavors our first time here coming from citadel outlets and search Italian restaurants, hands down everything was delicious. I had the chicken carbonara fire The shrimp risotto also fire to top it off with vodka fettuccine. Sorry for the late picture the presentation was better I just forgot to take pictures I was hungry

Food overall was gooood. Calamari, supreme Pizza, lasagna, Fettuccine con vodka y Salmon all were delicious and impressive amount of meat and ingredients. The Fettucine Porcini/mushroom with shrimp and scallop can improve a bit. Didn't taste like it. Service was good. Place was clean. The servers were pleasant and very accommodating and friendly.

I was searching for a creamy tasty Risotto and I found after searching for almost 9 years. It was literally the tastiest Risotto I have ever tasted. Chef made Risotto extra creamy as per request. Really recommend this restaurant to all Italian food lovers.Quality of the food is top level. Loved the ambience and cute robot which serves the food plates. Service was good. I will definitely go back and recommend to my friends.

It's a nice cafeteria type of food place to eat after work or have a meeting. You have limited options in the area. And food was good. Fast service and they got vacuum robot server bring dishes to the table. Good size parking lot.

Delicious BBQ chicken pizza. Crust is thin-BBQ sauce is light and tasty-Red onions, thin and fresh. 10/10 Gorgonzola Chicken. A flavorful Gorgonzola sauce with bell peppers. Nicely breaded, good marinara. Ribeye. A nice cut, on the thinner side. Really good. Accompanied by broccoli, carrots, and mashed potatoes. Garlic Bread 10/10 Friendly staff, food came promptly. I was craving chicken Parmesan and found this place on Yelp. After reading so many great reviews I had to try it for myself. The restaurant itself is kept up well and clean with nice decor. Every table had its own olive oil and balsamic which is always so nice. Their bread is toasted with a delicate crunch and soft. It picked up the olive oil and balsamic very well. The olive oil and balsamic were good quality. The olive oil was delicate and aromatic, not too bitter or acidic. The balsamic was nicely balanced and also was not too acidic or harsh. I ordered the grilled romaine as an appetizer. The lettuce was crisp and the Caesar dressing was good. I tried their pumpkin ravioli in butter sage sauce which was nice. Their bread walnuts complimented it very nicely. The chicken Parmesan was very good. The waiter said they make their own tomato sauce. The tomato sauce was nicely balanced with good flavor. It was not bland or too salty, or acidic. The chicken Parmesan was satisfying. For desert I had a crème brûlée and that too was delicious. They were generous with the sugar topping and I loved cracking through it. I definitely would return.

In the last few years I've been here over and over again and the food is still great. The ambience is what you would expect and busy restaurant to be, service is amazing. My favorite place.

Are they pet friendly? Are there heaters in the outside seating area?

I've never seen pets inside ever.

    Do they have happy hour?

Yes we do Monday threw Friday from 4 to 7pm

Do they take reservations? And would this be a good place for a birthday dinner celebration?

Sandra, the food is very authentically delicious, although the head chef is of Mexican descent and has worked in some of the finest Italian restaurants in Beverly hills , Santa Monica, etc.,...the sauces cooked with are delictable.....and worth…

Tried popping in and they're closed. Do they keep different hours than what's posted?

We apologize for the inconvenience we caused. Unfortunately we had an unsuspected family emergency and IL Saggio deeply apologizes to our costumers. The regular hours are still in effect, let's us know you had this inconvenience when visit us. Thank…

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with exceptional customer service from Angie. She was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel valued as customers. It's not every day that you come across someone who is not only friendly but also takes the time to make your experience feel personal and enjoyable. As for the food it was absolutely delicious! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. After working up an appetite on the trail, this meal hit the spot. The ingredients were vibrant, the portions were generous, and every bite was packed with flavor. Ambiance inside was a 10/10 but it was a nice day so we decided to eat outside. Between the outstanding food and Angie's wonderful customer service, this visit exceeded our expectations. Employees like Angie are the reason customers come back. We'll definitely be returning to this Whittier location soon!

The three times I've visited over the last month, she's had the same negative attitude. She doesn't greet customers, serves noticeably small portions, and comes across as though helping customers is an inconvenience. On my most recent visit, I politely asked if I could have a little extra olives. I understand there are limits on proteins, rice, and greens, so I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. It was just olives--a topping--and I wasn't even getting every topping available. Instead of simply saying yes or no, she let out a loud sigh, which made the interaction feel uncomfortable. Everyone has bad days, but after experiencing the same attitude on multiple visits, it seems like a pattern rather than a one-time issue. CAVA, I hope you'll check in with your staff. I enjoy the food and would like to keep coming back, but consistently poor customer service is making me reconsider.

I finally had the chance to stop in for a solo early dinner, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the Lule Kabob Combo ($22), which included skewers of minced beef and chicken, rice, veggies, pita, hummus, and a side salad. The highlights of the meal were definitely the salad and the grilled tomato; the pomegranate seeds in the rice were also a nice touch. However, the meats weren't to my taste--the chicken had an odd aftertaste, and while the beef was better, neither really worked for me. Adding the provided sumac and lemon helped, but I wouldn't order the kebabs again. Additionally, the hummus lacked creaminess, and the pita tasted like it was mass-produced rather than fresh. On the positive side, the portion sizes are very generous for the price point, and I left feeling full. I also have to mention that the patio is adorable and very "Instagrammable," so it's a great spot if you're looking for a photo-friendly environment. A quick note for future visitors: they are currently having issues with their card reader and are requesting cash or Zelle. It felt a little unusual to be rung up on a register only to pay via Zelle, but it wasn't a major deal. While I appreciated the atmosphere and value, the food itself just wasn't for me, so I likely won't be returning.
