Wow! We have been coming to Crescent beach for years and missed this place! Fantastic seafood cooked to perfection. Fried shrimp and home made onion rings were excellent . Portions were large . My coconut shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked . Sweet potato served with brown sugar butter, broccoli salad, hush puppies were all delicious. We ate our fill and took about half of our shrimp home with us. There was a large variety of seafood on the menu and choices of preparation plus meat dishes. Something for everyone! Service was fast and courteous . Atmosphere is very casual . The restaurant is in a strip center of mostly good places to eat . Very convenient and plenty of parking. Really had high expectations after all the positive reviews. Love to try local establishments as much as possible. Our waitress was totally adorable, could not be more polite and sweet ( Sam? ) Had the shrimp and chicken- totally recommend going blackened vs broiled - much tastier. Had the broccoli salad as one of the sides and it was tasty ( fresh broccoli with raisins, chopped onions and tomatoes.) Key lime pie has the consistency of cool whip with a faint taste of key lime. The one major thing that irks me is dirty floors and lack of tables being bused- we walked in and the first table we saw was piled with dishes and a brown busing bucket that was overlooked by wait staff pretty much until the end of our meal. Local and great. This spot is so underrated. The platter for two is a massive amount of food at a great price. The fried shrimp is possibly the best i have had. We have a couple other places we go for fried seafood occasionally and in comparison, the breading is light and even for takeout, the food is hot and not dripping with grease. This place doesn't look like much from the outside and the inside is a little dated, but the food makes up for it all! This place is by far has the best Mahi-mahi and shrimp I've ever eaten! Our waitress was great and we came in right after a lunch rush and shift change, so we were told our "food might take a bit longer because they had to fillet it." Umm...yeah, I'll gladly wait a few extra minutes for freshly filleted fish. Our food really did come out in a timely manner and I had lighted blacked grilled Mahi-mahi and shrimp. The shrimp were almost as big as half of my hand! Since it wasn't a combo on their menu during lunch, I was charged the dinner amount ($20.95), but it was so worth it bc of the fish and shrimp portions! This would have probably been double if I had ordered this anywhere else in town. It was all so fresh! In both my previous visits to St. Augustine Beach's Seafood Kitchen I've been overall impressed and found them to be, if not exceptional, at least perfectly good Southern-style seafood in an inexpensive, simple, atmosphere. However, my most recent visit was a different experience: the crab soup was so overly salted it was nearly impossible to even eat it, the hush puppies were overly dry and had little flavor, and my fried shrimp--a dish the Seafood Kitchen had always done a decent job on before-- was also overly dry/overcooked and had little taste. My friend Justin ordered the stuffed shrimp and complained the spices in the stuffing overpowered the crabmeat stuffing and the shrimp alike, and when I tasted the offending stuffing, I found it to be exceptionally heavy on sage and more fit for stuffing a Thanksgiving turkey than any seafood dish. In addition, the service was curt at best. I don't know if they have a new cook or this was just an off night, but it wasn't of the caliber of previous visits and I wasn't in the least impressed. At all. The tartar and cocktail sauce still tasted homemade but other than that, it seemed they'd slipped in quality in all aspects. read more

We came here for dinner because the restaurant we wanted to go to in the plaza was closed. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who sat us at a table by the window. There was a board outlining the specials for the night at the door. The menu was full of all kinds of seafood. There were different options offered on the way the seafood could be prepared. The sides were all freshly made. The portions were perfect. All the dishes we ordered were hot, fresh and very tasty. We loved the hush puppies that came with our entrees. One of the best ones I've had in a long time. The fried shrimp I ordered were lightly battered and delicious. The grilled shrimp and scallops were so fresh and tasty. This was recommended by a local ad having great seafood. We ordered the seafood dinner for 2 and while there was a healthy portion the fried batter was soggy and the seafood was mushy. Substitutions were made due to lack of supply (so the waitress said anyway) and one fried item was unidentifiable (maybe clam strip? Or calamari pieces?) The oyster stew tasted like salty steamed milk. The New England clam chowder did not have one clam and too much smoke flavoring. The tap beer had no head. The fountain soda was flat, and the ice tea to replace the flat soda was watery. Need I say more. I would not recommend this restaurant, and caution the local who did recommend it for making the same mistake again. read more

We chose a baked sweet potato and their homemade slaw as our sides and were also blessed with super good hushpuppies.
