Amazing! Service, Food was delicious, we were originally going to T Smith but since it was SuperBowl Sunday they were closed so we ended up here, so happy we did. Our waitress was stellar such a gem Rachel was her name please recognize her for her Excellent Hospitality. Inside was quiet and welcoming, music was calm. We recieved complimentary clear soup, and tempura sushi it was wonderful. My ratings are as follows: Soy Wrap Sweet Potato Roll 10/10 Soy Wrap Vegetable Roll 10/10 Clear Soup 10/10 Gyoza 7/10 Spring Roll 10/10 Kids Bento Box 10/10 Prices 10/10 Service 10/10 Hot Green Tea 10/10 Location is good, plenty of parking. I've ordered takeout from here for many many years. They recently renovated the inside, it has a very nice atmosphere. The food is super good and they are accommodating from a service standpoint. Plenty of variety on the menu and the sake is great! Highly recommend you try out. Very convenient location in Saint Augustine, good for couples for a date night or a family. Ambiance is still good. new owners have tried to deceive me twice since they took over/bought the place. First the said the previous owner would be back on their very first day ( not true, per staff there ), then they told me on my 3rd visit that Lucky Rolls are served warm even though I explained they had not been served warm all the years I had been coming. The own was dressed like she just got out of bed ( very messy high pony tail, t-shirt, slacks. the other staff appeared untidy and im not sure about hygiene but it didn't look good. Way too much eel sauce on my roll. not edible. I will not go back. I've tried 3 times and it has always been a disaster. I said I was allergic to soy and they still tried to serve me things that were free but soy based ( miso broth, and soy sauce). We stopped here for dinner based off of other reviews. I'm so glad we did. They started the meal with clear soup. They also brought a small complementary sushi roll that had fried crab and shrimp. It was tasty. We both ordered salmon hibachi. The ginger dressing on the house salads was so delicious! The portion sizes were large and everything was seasoned well. My gf and I went here on Christmas Day. We got inside and there was quite a few people inside for it being Christmas Day. We got sat right away and were greeted quick as well. We tried ordering the calamari for an appetizer but they were out unfortunately. Our server did bring us a little crab roll on the house which was very nice. Very yummy as well. Then for our entree we got 4 different rolls. We got the eel and avocado roll, I give that a 7.3/10. The happy roll I give a 7.8/10. The tnt roll in the middle was simple but good I give that a 8/10. The last roll in the back is the dynamite roll and I give that a 8.3/10. Overall the sushi was fresh tasting and not too much rice on the rolls which can be a big difference. For dessert we got the fried ice cream. One of my favorite desserts to get, I give it a 9/10. Overall Christmas dinner experience I give a 8.8/10. read more

This is the local "go to" for the best sushi in town. This family owned restaurant has a surprising interior and ambiance, located in our Publix shopping center. We always get sushi that is cooked and favorite rolls are the mango roll, zento roll, phoenix roll , anastasia roll, sakara roll. Other friends enjoy the hibachi. The wine is cold and the service is great. Construction is going on now for the new Publix but don't let that stop you from going! read more

My parents live down the street from Sushi Zento and I love getting takeout here when I visit! The sushi is the best in town - I love the yellowtail and spicy tuna. My brothers love the fire tuna roll for a fancier one. The hibachi meals are great value and super tasty. Great pricing, really quick and convenient. Great customer service too. We love sushi zento!! Every time we want something easy on a Friday night that is delicious and healthier this is our go to! Honestly sometimes we end up having it twice a week. I love the rainbow Naruto! They also do a gluten free hibachi which is so wonderful for me since I can't eat dairy or gluten. We also love the tuna avocado and real California roll. Enjoyed free food that you usually don't get at a Japanese restaurant. Before I ordered I was served soup like fish cake broth with mushroom slices and tempura imitation krab sticks smothered in that orange aioli. Both were delicious. They have a lot of choices. I ordered a lunch special 2 rolls or handrolls for $9! That came with salad, ice berg lettuce and a good miso dressing. I was quite full before touching a roll! 8 pieces come per roll, small in size but I like how they use little rice and peel the WHOLE shrimp in my tempura roll. The shrimp tempura in roll was excellent, warm and crunchy but light. My other roll had real crab meat roll. Little crab actually but a nice balance of crunch from cucumber and creamy avocado. Zento's interior is pleasantly simple, with soft easy listening music, sometimes in Japanese. There's also one tv to keep track of sports. Many choices and the service was friendly and fast. I highly recommend this place for its great prices and value for your money. read more

Nice hibachi shrimp lunch special, which also included a soup and a salad, and came with vegetables, though I wish it had more rice. That makes it a good value for $11.50 I'd say. My fiancee's chicken on a stick was also pleasant. We also got a Ramune Orange, a Japanese soda; we had to get them to explain how to open this novelty soda, which had a marble-like ball bouncing around in it. I may return. I told the waiter that it was my daughter's birthday, and he surprised her with a fried ice cream plate, with 'Happy Birthday' spelled in chocolate and they had the birthday song playing in the background. Food is always amazing don't get me wrong! But the service I received tonight. I was baffled. I walk in to do a takeout order for my family and I. I ask for the kid habachi. She looks at me and says "you don't look 12". Like okay. Should I throw my kid over my hip next time? I asked how big it was to see if my kids could share. She refused to give me an Awnser. Like almost if I was asking if it was big enough for myself. Didn't even ask me if I wanted soup or salad. Ended up giving me soup. Which I can't give my kids. They won't eat broth. It was unreal. Then I'm trying to order food. And she is trying to up charge me on ever single thing. It's like lady. I'm about to leave lol. All I have to say is. I love coming here. It's one of my favorite spots. Been coming here for years and their food and service have always been on point. We recently had a VERY BAD experience. It took our server 20 mins to even come by the first time. Our food took a while to be prepared which is fine as they were busy but the plate sat on the counter waiting to be served for too long. The sushi was not as good as it as usually is and made us sick to our stomach the next day. Even the comp holiday roll was poorly made. We were there for like an hour and a half. I don't know if that was an isolated incident but we unfortunately will not be back. Can't take any chances on bad sushi. read more

This place was excellent!! Sushi rolls were fresh and yummy, I loved everything we ordered, particularly the specialty Lovers roll and the salmon sashimi. I do wish they had more salmon based rolls on the menu, there is a lot of crab, tuna and shrimp but the freshness and taste of the salmon was by far the best. One gripe - The online ordering on their website is a pain in the butt to use and it doesn't tell you how long you should wait to go pick up your food so we waited about 15 minutes and headed over, not really sure if it would be ready. Picking it up was easy but I probably should have just called it in to avoid the annoying online menu. Would def reorder from here though!! read more

Honestly surprised with all the good reviews how below average this place is. They gave us "free clear soup" right when we sat down but when we said we didn't want it and asked for miso with the hibachi dinner which COMES with It on the menu they upcharge it 2$? No other places in the area does this. You can give free clear soup but not give the soup that comes with the entree? It was also the WORST miso soup I've ever had. My advice - drive off the island another six minutes and go somewhere that doesn't nickle and dime you for below average food and service read more

We revisited for the first time in four years. It's still a great space and vibe, though we got takeout this time because of the pandemic. The fish in the sushi is still good quality and the sushi rice is still subpar. We also tried tempura and seaweed salad, which were both good. One negative for takeout is overreliance on wasteful styrofoam. Worth checking out, but not a five star place. read more
