It is very cozy and quaint and the dishes were filled with wonderful layers of flavors and unlike any other ramen/noodle dishes I've ever eaten. My new favorite for sure! We started with appetizers and had the Banchan and also the Tuna Sashimi, and these were also very different from anything I've ever had and both were very very good and flavorful. For entrees we had the Spicy Duck Tan Tan and the Sweet Soy Braised Brisket. Both were excellent and must tries!! I highly recommend trying this place. This place is reservation only so be sure to book this before you visit. It's super small on the inside but very pretty. The parking lot is also very small. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was really nice and packaged our food for us. My girlfriend and I loved every bit of our food. We loved our drinks, we especially loved the steamed buns. You have to get them with the eggs because they truly elevate the appetizer. My girlfriend loved their brisket ramen and the inclusion of the egg. They tasted the broth on mine and agreed that it was delicious. I don't typically like ramen but I really enjoyed this meal. The only con is that this is pretty expensive for the food but the ramen portion is very large. We definitely recommend this spot if you're visiting or in the area. read more

Okay, Lotus Noodle Bar might be my new favorite spot. We started with the tuna appetizer and I was hooked immediately so fresh, perfectly sliced, with this great balance of richness and acidity that just works. Could've ordered three more. Then came the ramen, and wow. The broth alone deserves its own review deep, savory, clearly simmered with care. Noodles had the perfect chew, and every topping felt like it was placed with intention, not just thrown on top. I was scraping the bowl by the end, no shame. They have their own private parking lot. We were so impressed with the quality of the food, the excellent service, the ambience with our table overlooking the kitchen. We are based in Jacksonville, so the drive was long, but worth it. Don't be fooled with the feeling that Ramen is a simple presentation of food. I gave a lot of thought into writing this review. I was expecting to give Lotus 5 stars. I also was expecting to have a five star experience all around however, this was not the case. FYI Lotus requires a deposit in advance to hold your reservation. I have no problem with that especially when I saw the size of the restaurant in person. Lotus is an extremely tiny restaurant. It's very intimate for groups of two or four. They have a nice little outdoor garden, which probably would be lovely to sit at during cool weather and could probably accommodate a larger party. Inside seating - there is a little noodle bar with maybe four seats that face a wall. Then there is an actual bar with maybe three seats. The whole restaurant had maybe three or four tables of four and then I believe two tables of two. The kitchen prep area is open and you can watch food being prepped in that area. Our table for two was right against the prep area. When we were first shown our table my friend's back was right against that kitchen prep area. We were a little warm when we sat down but we thought it was just because we were near the prep area. There were two small fans on the floor next to our table that we kept adjusting to blow on us. However, it did not help the heat. I want to say our service was excellent as was our food. However, we just could not enjoy ourselves. The restaurant was getting hotter and hotter, and we were literally sweating to the point where we kept asking for ice. It was a very uncomfortable experience. I was extremely disappointed as I was treating my friend for her birthday and wanted her to have a wonderful experience. No matter how good your food is if the restaurant is uncomfortably hot it makes it very hard to enjoy the overall experience. I don't know what the problem was. I don't know if it's always like this on a hot day but this is Florida and it's extremely hot all summer long. We did mention it to the server as we could tell she was uncomfortable as well. She did tell us there was a problem with the a/c. We did not stay for dessert because we were just too hot and wanted to get out of there. On our way out my friend spoke to I believe the owner and he did apologize for the heat. I personally think that in a restaurant that is supposed to provide an elevated experience something should have been done. Perhaps the restaurant should've been closed until the AC was fixed or perhaps the owner should've gone and bought one of those little portable air conditioners. It certainly would've cooled off that little restaurant. This was an expensive meal and a subpar experience. I am so disappointed my friend's birthday turned out the be a such a let down. read more

Which really every dish is his own unique spin so don't expect anything Typical. Dine here for the Magical. He ordered the spicy duck Ramen which feature ground duck instead of the traditional roast duck you find in most Asian places. The broth was the perfect amount of heat and balanced well with the rich traditional noodles and egg. I scored with the beef brisket Raman. I could slurp that broth all day! Every bite was yummy Delicious deliciousness. I selected to have mine with the rice noodles. I was a little worried that it would be too delicate with the brisket, but actually these were not thin, slimy rice noodles you would expect. they were perfectly cooked and worked well with the Ramen. We skipped dessert because we're both watching our weight but both selections sound really interesting. For our appetizers we ordered the tuna sashimi, hamachi crudo and the Not so traditional caviar service. For our entree, we shared the garlic noodle mazemen. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicate. I loved how they explained each dish and how they used ingredients from their own garden. The atmosphere is lovely, the cocktails were fabulous, and every dish felt elevated while still being incredibly smooth and comforting. The tuna appetizer was stunning, paired with a gorgeous tomato ponzu, flowers from their garden, and incredibly high quality fish that melted in your mouth like butter. The presentation was artistic, but the taste was even better. The amberjack ceviche was another standout. It's served with a tigers milk sauce that's poured over the dish. It's less acidic than a traditional Mexican ceviche, yet somehow even more delicious than it sounds. Every plate had beautiful elements of color, texture, and flavor, and you can tell there are thoughtful stories behind each dish. Of course, the ramen is what they're known for. I had the crab and garlic ramen and it was absolutely outstanding. The food. WHOA. Super unique. Super fresh. Super delicious. I seriously can't get over it. It was the executive chef shaving fresh black truffle on my dish that put this experience over the top. We sat in the dining room which we requested on our reservation. The service was perfect. Server was knowledgeable of the dishes and answered all of our questions. Chef Barry Honan stopped by our table several times which we really enjoyed. When the tuna sashimi is served, he comes to explain the dish and then pours the orange ponzu sauce on to complete the picture of a koi pond. It was stunning and delicious. Wow! Flavors are the highlight of Lotus Noodle. I've had lots of sashimi and ramen in my life, but nothing comparable to what we had here. Just layers and layers of flavor. First, the sashimi appetizer is anything but traditional. The whole presentation is designed to represent a Japanese "water garden", with the "water" being a ponzu based sauced poured into the bowl by the server (in our case Chef Barry!), making the dish come to life. I literally drank the insanely tasty sauce at the end. Second, the spicy duck tan tan ramen was pretty much exactly what I was hoping it would be. Spicy, rich, pungent and soothing. I probably don't describe it adequately. I'd say the spice level is a solid 3.5 of 5 which to me is perfect, enough to know it's there but not so much that your mouth loses the ability to really taste the many flavors present. And the duck is a super tender ground version which was delicious and works perfectly in a ramen. And surprisingly, the serving was large. Thirdly, my wife had the lobster ramen which had a lighter sweeter broth and contained a generous amount of lobster chunks. Again, so flavorful. And lastly, the "cobbler" for dessert. This is so non-traditional that you don't understand how it's a cobbler until you get a full mouthful of the whole dish. It was more wet/soupy than I was expecting but zero complaints on the flavor. And the dish is beautiful. Now, they only had two desserts so if dessert is the highlight of your night out, this probably isn't your go-to. Didn't bother us because we were so full without even finishing our main dishes. The staff was great, taking extra care to account for a cinnamon allergy. We are so glad that Chef Barry made the decision to open up his restaurant in a local spot after honing his ample skills at a premier restaurant in NYC. We were really exited to try this restaurant after hearing about it before visiting St.Augustine. To say we were underwhelmed and disappointed is an understatement. We had the cucumber appetizer, beet appetizer and the steamed buns. All three were lame but the beets were the best of the three. I had the Cashew Tonkatsu Mazemen and my husband had the Garlic Noodle Mazeman. I did not care for my dish whatsoever and my husband also didn't like his dish but he added his own hot sauce to make it more palatable. The flavors in the scallops appetizer were amazing and the pork belly was crispy and moist. The ramen we chose was the spicy duck and the brisket. Again, deep in flavor and so different from any ramen we've had. On par with what we've had in Orlando (Michelin star), NYC and San Fran... actually better than all of them, IMHO.
