Love the fresh sushi here, one of my favorites in St. Augustine. It's a bit of a drive from the beach but worth it. The staff are always friendly. The service is fast. Yes, I'll be back. read more

Bento boxes are a good value. Wouldn't recommend the sushi, but the kitchen food is good.

Umai is serving gorgeous Japanese food. On top of everything being beautifully presented it was equally delicious! I would definitely stop here for sushi and Japanese food again. read more

We ordered this for delivery through Uber eats on a Sunday around 5 pm. The order ended up coming about 10 minutes early which was a nice surprise. We ordered the fried tofu appetizer & it was light & crisp. We ordered the pineapple fried rice & the chicken fried rice. Both tasted like typical Japanese fried rice. Tasty & a nice portion! We got a few sushi rolls they were all delicious. The food came and it was still warm. It was fresh & flavorful. read more

Clean, spacious and on pointe with umami flavors! The staff is super friendly from the hostess to our waiter, who checked on us often. They have a nice selection of lunch specials which was perfect for our lunchtime visit. My husband enjoyed the Teriyaki Chicken bento lunch box and my Chirashi lunch box was a delicious assortment of fresh fish over rice. Ample portions even for lunch! We will definitely return and try their many other options of tempura, katsu, noodles, and rice dishes along with a large assortment of specialty and standard rolls. We definitely recommend this place! read more

As always, the food is amazing. The service is always excellent and of course ambience goes along with the food.

The service was good, quick and efficient. Ordered two speciality rolls which were both wonderful. ... fresh and tasty with beautful, decorative platine. I also ordered the seafood udon soup which was quite large, but the broth was bland. I wound up adding wasabi and soy sauce to punch up the flavor. I would have liked more udon in the soup. Overall it was a good experience and I would like to try their sashimi next time. read more

Excellent Was very happy with the sushi Large menu Great service Clean Soup was very good too read more

don't ask for extra wasabi, they seem to horde it. 3x in a row, asked for extra wasabi, picked up order, get home, no wasabi. another time i ordered, came to pick up, and the order was lost, i had to wait for fresh order to be made (again no wasabi). has never offered even a free desert for the inconvenience, I was a regular customer, ordering more than 3x a week. read more

Came here for happy hour and sushi was okay for the deal. The habachi happy hour was delicious and would recommend. The service was quick and I liked how we got free soup/salad with the sushi order. The ambiance is very chill and romantic read more

This place is my comfort spot. I'm on the road all week for work, and I'm more excited to eat here every weekend than I am for a day off. The prices are beyond reasonable, and the quality is top notch. I get the same thing almost every time and it's exactly the same. Everything tastes fresh, you can tell their meats are good quality, and everything is seasoned perfectly. While I usually order takeout, the ambiance in here is on point, the wait staff are all absolute angels, and from the counter tops at the bar, to the floor, to the bathroom sink, all absolutely spotless. read more

Delicious food, large portions, great price and service was very pleasant. Definitely will return.

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in St. Augustine. It is located near my friends' home and they love how it is never crowded. They took me out here in the past. The sushi rolls are tasty and filling. Prices are good. Service is great too. Definitely a go to place when I visit and move back to St. Augustine, Florida. read more

Amazing!!! 11/10! My family and I went there for the first time. We all don't eat Japanese food often. I ordered an avocado salad, soup (I forgot the name), and Hibachi with Chicken. So DELICIOUS! 10/10! This waitress was super friendly and kind! She was very helpful when my mom had questions about food. Also, she smiled the whole time. 10/10! I would highly recommended you all to try there! You won't be disappointed! read more

As many restaurants have raised their prices, Umai is no exception. However, they are more reasonably priced than the sushi restaurants in my hometown so I do not mind the 25 minute drive. I particularly like the lunch menu. Teriyaki Benito Box is a favorite as it is served with soup (clear or miso) and salad (ginger dressing) along with the teriyaki stir fry (choice of different meats or seafood), sumai, California roll and rice (white or fried). Umai has not extensive menu of sushi, hibachi, Katsu, tempura, and teriyaki dishes. The restaurant is a little dark but utilizes colorful lighting. read more

I've been eating here ever since it first opened. It never gets too crowded and the waiters are all very attentive. The food itself has definitely become one of my comfort foods, and since the restaurant is local, I end up ordering here a lot. It's also a nice casual place- I take my friends or family here too sometimes and they all love the food as well! read more

This is our third time having take out from Umai and the food has been consistently great. Service was nice and pleasant when we ordered and picked up. Poor service. Stood at the door for 5 minutes while the sushi chefs looked at us and the staff seemed to be absent. The restaurant was not slammed or crazy busy. Ordered drinks after a bit and my food was out before the drinks. Continued to wait in the drinks while the waitress waited on other tables and brought them their drinks. The miso soup I was given was lukewarm. We were finally given drinks for the party of 3. The waitress walked by several times disregarding the waiting dishes to be taken away and an empty drink. I asked on the third time if I had to order a new drink or how I got a refill. My friends were waiting on their food over 10 minutes after I got mine so the combination of that and the waitress. This was a poor experience and not sure if I would come back based on this service I experienced. Also spoke to 2 different people about the issue read more

Great food from the seaweed salad to the Sushi, nigiri, and sashimi. Very fresh, service is friendly and good.

Service was good. Portion sizes small, extremely overpriced, they keep the temp at 80 degrees to save money.... Food was just ok.... No need to come back read more

Stay away. When we first walked in, there was the smell of stale oil. When ordering the Yaki udon with tofu, I told the server about my shellfish allergy. She came back to verify the order but to my surprise, she served me shrimp yaki udon instead of tofu. The spring rolls were mushy and overcooked. Too bad as they used to be pretty good. read more

COVID precautions in place. We ordered online and picked up at Umai. We were even able to say when we wanted to have our order ready. Food was ready when we arrived and soup was nice and hot. They even separated the hot soup from the sushi. Food was fresh and very delicious. We'll definitely return for more choices. read more

We come here a lot and it's one of my favorites in town. Their service is always super friendly and attentive. Their sushi is really good the angel roll is my favorite with Mango, tempura shrimp, spicy tuna and avocado inside with spicy crab on the top. We also get the various hibachis and they're always really good and they serve them with a boat of yum yum sauce so you never run out. If you're looking for good hibachi and sushi, but maybe not feeling the entire hibachi experience with the grill tables this is one of the best places! read more
