Walk in and the decor feel is similar to being in Cape Cod in the spring. Unfortunately that's where things go a bit wobbly afterwards, with the exception of the very bubbly and pleasant young woman behind the counter. Started with a cup of Clam Chowdah and unfortunately they needed to run it thru the microwave again to heat it up a bit more than it was served. But before that, they needed to add some clams, the overall flavor and consistency was on point, it just lack clam meat. I went with the Crab cakes, which were very tasty. Unfortunately, they lacked in some type of binder to hold the ingredients together. There was plenty of crab in them, just fell apart. My companion, (a true Bostonian) had the Lobstah Roll. We stopped by this place on a very quick visit of St. Augustine. It sounded good but unfortunately it didn't deliver. We ordered a lobster roll and a bowl of chowder. First she gave us a cup of chowder, then after inquiring multiple times that they might be wrong, they finally gave us the bowl of chowder. The chowder was bordering on cold. "Luke cold" is how I would describe it, very disappointing. The lobster roll was ok, but nothing to write home about. Try somewhere else. read more

The lobster itself is probably a 4 but we had a problem with access the steps were to much for my wife to maneuver so we sat outside. I came in here for lunch and ordered the Boston lobster roll, 7 shrimp basket, and key lime pie. The cashier and the employ were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is in a older historic looking building. There is limited seating inside. The lobster roll was delicious, the fried shrimp where large, and the key lime pie taste more like cheese cake. It is a little on the pricey side but you are getting quality seafood. If you're not a seafood person, they also have burgers. They also have beer and wine for purchase in the fridge. Overall, definitely a good place for lunch. read more

Very small place. You have to pay to park even in a parking lot. I got the lobster roll $40 (so not worth it). They warm it up in water not butter, but hey at least it's not in the microwave. I think, that was what I was told. Lobster was cold and rubbery and very small. It was put on a sweet roll which I was told it's the same as the New England split top which is totally untrue, I'm from New England. the fries tasted like they were frozen. Yes! This! I am originally from Southeastern Mass, an hour South of Boston. This, I had to try this place! Ad soon as you walk in, the place is filled with New England decor! The employees were welcoming and enjoyed hearing my Massachusetts accent. They assured me that this was legit and I was ready for it! This place was around the corner from my B&B. It a large stand alone house with a parking lot next door and across the street from Cafe Alcazar so you could come here for some kick ass New England style seafood or eat inside some dead rich folks former swimming pool. I choose here and decided to get an order of the clam chowder that was incredibly thick and delicious. With a name like The Wicked Famous Fish sandwich how could I not give this a try? It comes stacked with fried cod pieces - perhaps it's a filet, maybe two, but they break it apart to give it some height. Probably helps with it getting mushy since it isn't smashed under a bread blanket. I came here because my friend brought me. She had been here all the time when it was the bantam chef however, this new place kept their famous fish sandwich, thankfully. It's Alaskan cod. It is massive and super delicious. The cashier said that the owner is really from Boston. It has been recently renovated I'm guessing because every finish looks brand new. The staff was super sweet. We went on a Tuesday at 7:30 in the place was a ghost town but to our advantage or fish sandwich came out literally in about six. Minutes. They're fresh what is fried perfectly. The french fries were a bit over salted for my friend but for me, they were fine they do serve a thick fry. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside perfectly done. For the amount of sandwich you got it was very reasonably priced . This place is on Granada towards the back entrance of the Lightner Museum. You can get parking in the city lots all around the restaurant. I love how they had their menu posted outside. They have a couple of picnic tables outside, and the weather is always so great so it's a perfect option. Definitely will be back. Great food great service and super cute place to eat read more

It has been a minute since I've written a review on Yelp; and I dread writing this review, because my wife and I had such high hopes for our visit to Lobstah On A Roll, in Saint Augustine. First off, again, let me state that I am in no way a food expert.........I'm rather pedestrian actually. But I do love food! Having lived for 14-years in New Hampshire, my wife, children and I made literally hundreds of trip into Boston where we would enjoy Lobster Rolls, when we could afford to do so. They aren't cheap. Anyway, while I admit to not being an expert, I will say that our visit to Lobstah on a Roll, was disappointing. The people and the service were fine.......the ambiance is okay....nothing to brag about, but not a huge distractor. The issue is that the lobster roll was terrible. The roll overall was simply bland and offered very little in the way of taste. The overall portion was okay, but when paying over $30 for a roll, you'd expect a bit more than the portion provided. You have options for your roll: Mayo, Naked, or Hot butter....we both went with the Mayo; not a good choice, and one bite into the roll and we knew we make a mistake. I'd suggest trying the 'hot butter' if you go there. The bun: NOT a New England Lobster Roll bun.......very heavy and 'bready' (hope that makes sense). Highly imbalanced with the amount of lobster. The bun can make or break a good lobster roll........this one broke it; shattered it. I get that this isn't flattering; however, it is an honest review on the lobster roll we had. We found this hidden gem on our recent trip to st Augustine! We actually had booked an air bnb above the restaurant without knowing it! Of course once we discovered we were above this restaurant, we had to try it out! I feel like not enough people know about this place! Incredible and fresh seafood items! Came here for the lobster rolls and we were not disappointed! We made the drive up from Daytona Beach and arrived just after they opened. We each got a small size lobster roll - one cold with mayo and one hot with butter. They were so, so delicious! The rolls are soft and warm, the meat portion is generous, and they were both very flavorful. My husband also ordered a cup of the lobster bisque which was good. Creamy with a ton of little flecks of lobster throughout. The one downside was the side dishes. The onion rings were good but nothing to write home about. The hushpuppies were unfortunately very bland. Lacking in both onion and salt. Guess I should have known better than to order a Southern staple from a Boston-founded restaurant. Having visited Portland, Maine years ago I was excited to experience a New England style lobster roll again and this sounded like the perfect place to do so. Cozy more than small, there are also a few outside tables. You order at the counter and they bring over the food when ready. The service was pleasant and friendly. The menu contains many other choices that all sound delicious, but we ordered the lobster rolls (one small, one large, both "cold") and the lobster bisque soup. The bisque was outstanding, full of flavor with just the right touch of cream and--I am pretty sure--sherry. Absolutely yummy. The lobster rolls were smothered in large chunks of sweet lobster meat which is a nice portion for the price. The lobster meat itself was superb. But...the "cold" is supposed to have some mayo and there really was so little as to be none, and there were no additional flavors, spices, whatever. No tarragon. No celery. No scallions. Just lobster meat. Even the roll was dry. It was good, yet disappointing. They also serve lobster rolls hot with butter if that's your thing. I will probably go back to try something else on the menu and definitely another cup of bisque, but will look elsewhere for a more flavorful lobster roll. read more

We get to the restaurant where it sits in historic St. Augustine so you have to pay for parking, which should be fine since all of historic St. Augustine is that way. My biggest problem with this place is the PRICE! After paying for parking they are asking $34 for a large lobster roll and $23 something for the small. Now I don't know if they jacked the prices up due to it being Labor Day weekend or they are always that ridiculously expensive! The other things on the menu was also pricey being $15-$16 piece. If this wasn't ridiculous enough EVERYTHING was a la carte. Needless to say only one person in the family of 3 could try the lobster roll. On a side note we asked for it to go and they brought it to us not in to go boxes. We had to send it back so they could put it in to go boxes. Needless to say it was $70 for 3 people. This is a very small place with about 20 indoor seating, two on the porch, and two picnic tables outside. We came right after the lunch crowd, and it was packed. I am assuming the orders took longer than normal, but it was worth the wait. I ordered the Bostonian while my wife had a fish sandwich and clam chowder. The Bostonian was packed with lobster meat from the claws. The first bite packed my mouth and all the flavor. The extra warm butter was not needed at all. The clam chowder was very fulfilling and large chucks of potatoes. My wife fish sandwich looked like a skyscraper. How much fish can you pack between two buns? This place knows how to do it.
