Stopped in this week for a birthday dinner, my take way from this place is that it's either going to need some serious training, development, and manager engagement, or it may just be one more restaurant that will not make it, here one day, gone the next. Considering the major upcoming events in 2026 lining up in CA in 2026, e.g., World Cup, concerts and so much other, major turnaround is warranted.
Parking: Free- not an issue, it's at the mall, so plenty of free parking. If you prefer valet, there is that option as well.
Hostess: Standoffish, one of them only greeted the man, yet me, the person that made the reservation totally blown off. Reservation was made on open table, I listed 3 things, celebrating a birthday, mushroom allergies and prefers inside seating, yet she asks if we want to sit outside. (Clearly not reading notes).
Establishment: Small, too small for this venue, not sure what they were thinking. Felt cold, unwelcoming, set up is odd, nothing like the other locations.
We asked to sit in the high-tops since the hostess was taking us to the end booth near the kitchen- who wants that noise?
Server: Nice young lady, but clearly pays no attention. She asked if there are any allergies, we said yes, mushrooms, (Severe).
Orders: We ordered the same thing we usually get at the WH and LB location.
Appetizer: Parker Rolls. The worst we've had. Unlike the other sites, we received already over buttered rolls. I tasted brown sugar, honey sugar and parsley and sea salt. Caution, the butter is actually truffle honey, truffle is mushroom. I'm allergic to mushroom, this was discussed with the server and listed in my reservation. Presentation of the rolls was poor; they exhibit a large hole where they insert all this butter junk.
Less is more, or better yet, allow the customer to apply their own butter. Allergic reactions are dangerous, it is not about not liking, it's about my body swelling up and breaking into a rash.
Perfect Martini, not perfect at all. Bartender making the drink, I watched him hand pick the ice, then the olives, a little distasteful. Why not invest in a tong like the rest of the bars in the area?
Drink was served lukewarm, it was a disaster, citrus excess, too wide and large, lemon peel was squeezed more than a simple twist.
Designers Smoke: Watered-down, not as beautiful or Smokey like the other sites present it.
Burger and Salad: Sloppy presentation, like it was made rushed.
S &S Fish and Chips: Fish oily on the outside and dry on the inside, not flaky, or buttery. Fries were fine.
The server offered us dessert for miss on paying attention to allergic to mushrooms. We weren't feeling it, politely said no. She still brought a mini smores for the birthday gentleman and a candle. While the gesture is appreciated, if you will bring the smore dessert, then bring the torch, what is the point in serving a marshmallow without any heat applied. I feel pretty badly today from this experience, I was hopeful for a nice dinner for my favorite person, the vibe was awful. Unlively place, inexperienced bartenders and to make matters worse, seemed like the few folks there were too busy watching the Dodgers loose. Most of the staff was paying attention to that and not the customers.
Why have a TV there, make it a place to dine and connect, not an almost sports bar.
Unfortunately to see that they are not trying, not worth $122 bucks. One more thing.... it's really rude to feel pressured to leave a big tip, for the server to just be in your face waiting. Do what the Strand house, or Tin roof does, they leave you the bill and table device, walk away for a bit and come back. read more
