They only had one type of BBQ sauce, and I loved that it was slightly spicy; however, they might want to have a non-spicy option for those who are super spice intolerant. Didn't expect to visit this food part twice this week. I really crave for some Texas bbq ribs, and first got to the Mickle craft meat, they sold out when I arrived at 4pm but I was referred to here. Having just visited arbor food park and smelled this truck, while also seeing the very good Yelp reviews, I decided to give them a chance. I'm very glad I did! When I pulled up at 11:30 AM on a Sunday, there was no line. I ordered 1.5 lbs of brisket, mac n cheese, okra and tomatoes, and cole slaw. The guy told me it would be 2 minutes. And exactly 2 minutes later I had my Q and I was on my way back home. He was also super friendly, A+ for customer service! The brisket: by no means is this the best in Austin but it is pretty darn good. It wasn't overly greasy or salty which we appreciated. Tender and cooked well and I ate it for 3 meals straight. The slaw: very good flavor! It had a nice kick but good creaminess to balance. Light and refreshing. The okra and tomatoes: yall this right here is a game changer. Off the beaten path but easy to find and plenty of parking. They are situated with 5 other food trucks from burgers to Mexican, to Halal. I called ahead to see what they had left as it was almost closing. They ran out of pork belly burnt ends which I really wanted, but they had everything else I wanted. We got the Playboy Sandwich and Brisket from the point. The sandwich was huge as it had jalapeño sausage, pulled pork, and brisket. It was really big and filling. The brisket came with pickles and onions and sauce on the side. The brisket was lightly seasoned so you can really taste the meat. Smoky and very meaty. The pulled pork in the sandwich was also not over seasoned and was very good. The jalapeño sausage was spicier than other places and was very tasty. The meats here were not as spiced as Terry Blacks BBQ but we're still very good. If you want to taste the meat more than the spice you will like this BBQ. read more

Bravo. We were extremely impressed by this wonderful BBQ truck. It's not cheap, but it has a lot going for it. For example, they are extremely friendly. Then there's the size of the sandwich, which is very generous. Then there's the smoky, amazing, juicy flavor, the perfect ingredients which don't taste remotely cheap (which is good, since the sandwich isn't), and the excellent BBQ sauce, none of which we were expecting, because it's food truck food, and honestly my experiences with food truck food in Austin aren't amazing, despite it being one of the food truck capitals of the world, along with maybe Portland Oregon and a few other places. So despite the mid-to-high prices - by Food Truck standards - the sandwich is well worth your money, and packed full of expertly-made, perfectly-seasoned, expensive/fancy-tasting, and more importantly, utterly delicious BBQ meat. I'm not even into meat that much anymore, but I make exceptions when something tastes this good. When you consider how good (and generous) the sandwich is, then the price is actually a steal. This is definitely one of the best five food trucks I've tried in Austin, and it almost makes all the bad ones I tried worthwhile just to have found this one. I'd say Boteco, Sonora Hot Dogs, Hi Tea (now closed), and I can't think of another one I really loved, so those are my fave 4 then. So for sure, we will most definitely be back here in future. Plus they're owned by Henry Rollins and Smokey Robinson (and a bandit), so that just makes them more awesome. So being from the south I like Mac n cheese with my bbq but for some reason it's hard to find places in Texas that offer this option. However I'm glad I stumbled upon this food truck. For starters shout-out to the guy running it who was nice enough to run out in the pouring rain which decided to start right as I pulled up and made my order, to hand deliver to the car.....Thank you! So now the food.....the sandwich was delicious overall, the flavors with the sweet BBQ sauce and the slightly spicy slaw meshed well together, and the Mac n cheese hit the spot, it was nice and creamy. I will also add that there was a large portion of pork on the sandwich, so I did appreciate that as well. I took off one star though, because the slaw and BBQ sauce made the sandwich so damn soggy I couldn't even really eat it as a sandwich, ended up having to cut it up and eat it with a fork. Which was not ideally how I wanted to do it. It was extremely sloppy and messy as a result. I think it's best especially if packing to go, to put it on the side and let people add it themselves maybe? Be aware: they've moved to a new, kid-unfriendly location with an unpleasant co-tenant bar. Still great food though. First off, love Rollin Smoke and their food. For several years my family would walk or ride bikes on the weekend to eat at the truck for a special Saturday or Sunday treat. We'd almost always order online ahead of time so it was ready when we got there. Anyone with small kids knows how valuable it is to order on your phone and roll up at the specified time so the kids don't have a hangry meltdown. And they were always super nice to the kids (I'd often let my older daughter walk up and place her own order, and they were great to her.) I ordered today expecting the same. Unfortunately the trailer has moved, but the Toast ordering site (which I had bookmarked) still has the old address, as does the confirmation email you get when you place an order. So, post-swimming with hungry kids, we departed to the 12th street food truck park. Not there, so OK, we trundle back and hop in the minivan. I called the number on the site to just confirm the location and that they got my order (it was charged) but got no answer. So I drove the 10 minutes down to Ceasar Chavez to see what was up. Note: I only found street parking, but there may be a parking lot somewhere. Signage wasn't super clear. When we got there, since we parked a block away, I got the kids (4 and 6) out of the car and walked toward where I saw the truck. To the right is a bar/restaurant with a doorman and to the left is an open courtyard with the food truck (and possibly others, but I wasn't looking) and literally not a sole standing around the courtyard. I walked toward the truck with my little girls in tow and the doorman told me I couldn't go in and that kids weren't allowed. I was honestly super confused and told him I was just getting a pre-paid pickup order from the truck. He told me I had to leave my kids in the car. I told him (politely, I thought) that I couldn't just leave my kids in the car parked on the street, that we were just going to pick up our order and leave, and that if he thought we were violating some important rule he was welcome to call APD, but we'd be gone super quick once we had our order. We went to the pickup window and the Rollin Smoke guys were somewhat apologetic about the location mix-up but asked for me to "give some grace" because they'd only been in since Wednesday. Totally fine, and I give plenty of grace. But then I was approached by a very pushy and irate manager from the bar who semi-aggressively approached me (and scared my 4 and 6 year old) accusing me of telling his doorman to call the cops (not what I said) and that I was breaking the law and couldn't be there with my kids. Whatever. If it was crowded with drunk adults, I might have understood a bit more not having kids there, but there was literally not a soul standing around when we were there at 12:20 on Sunday. Still somewhat stunned, I left with my BBQ tray in my hands and two girls asking me why the man was so angry at us. I hope Rollin Smoke has good luck and success at the new venue. It's too bad that we won't be able to enjoy our ritual of tearing into the BBQ meal onsite like we had gotten used to. Just be aware, you can't bring kids onsite for, um, reasons. I asked the guys in the truck to try to make that clear to customers. Hey, for some, no kids around will be a huge plus! We've eaten all over Austin with my girls at dozens of food trucks, some co-located with bars, and some not. Never before have I had an experience like that. I feel like a boomer meme saying this, but the things that led me and my wife to settle here 15 years ago have changed and we're not the same laid back, live and let live city that so many of us loved. I will end by restating that the bbq meal we got, and eventually enjoyed at home, was very tasty. But as my 4 year old exclaimed to mom when we walked in the door: "we won't be going back there again--they were so mean!" In town from Utah for a volleyball tournament and found this gem in a food truck park. We got the brisket, burnt ends, and 3 smoked mac and cheeses. We spent $75 and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I'm of the strong opinion that every single barbecue pit or truck claiming to specialize in brisket in Texas, or anywhere for that matter, should have the option to put that brisket in tacos. We're here for this fusion if you can even call it that, and Rollin Smoke delivers on the concept. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Cool people in a cool little truck. I called in an order later in the day, and while Rollin Smoke was running a bit low on supplies, they were able to put together some brisket and pulled pork tacos for me. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $5.00 for a brisket taco is perfect, especially if, as was the case here, they're filling the thing up with what seemed to be at least a quarter pound of brisket or pulled pork. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? These were good tacos both brisket and pulled pork. I'm a brisket purist at heart, and the flavor here was good in addition to the crust that delivered a particular satisfying crunch when dished up in taco form. My only gripe here if you can call it that is that the tortilla was on the weak side and I could have used with some sort of peripherals in the mix be that peppers or onions or something of the like just to make it something more than brisket and a bit of sauce wrapped in a tortilla. I got my bbq here on a Sunday morning and I have to say it's probably the type of place I'd imagine to fit right in on sixth street after a long night. That said they're definitely among the best value out of all the BBQ places I've been to if you're into sandwiches. The Playboy sandwich has all their greatest hits on a bun and it's a hefty lunch that let's you sample everything you'd want from a BBQ joint. The brisket is on the smokier side compared to other places I've been to but it's perfectly tender and moist, although I feel it could use a tad more salt. The pulled pork is juicy and a blast of porcine flavor that pairs well with the BBQ sauce, though of the three meats that make up the sandwich, I think it's the most meh. The sausage has good snap and some serious kick that I was not expecting. I checked this spot out for lunch on a dreary day. The food park was bumping. I walked up to the trailer and placed my order with a nice gentleman through the window. You could see them moving wood around behind the trailer for their smoke pit. I ordered the brisket taco, the pulled pork taco, and the macaroni-and-cheese. The tacos were wonderful. Their barbeque sauce is sweeter, which compliments the smoky meats. They were topped with pickles and onions. The mac'n'cheese was superb! Smoky, cheesy, thick - it was so so good. This is a great spot to grab a barbeque sandwich or taco with a side or two. The guys running the truck are efficient and friendly.
