I went to reds for a date night and as soon as we got there it was very impressive! The ambiance was really nice! We got sweet potatoes for the starter and it was VERY GOOD! But, for the entries we got the chicken and the burger. The chicken was covered in mushrooms and that was it. The entree could use a side with it that's for sure. We took the opportunity to eat at the beautiful Red's Bistro while on a visit to Loomis, the decor and atmosphere feels upscale and the menu looked exquisite! We ordered the Charred Cesar, Smash Burger and Duck Leg Confit and unfortunately were disappointed with the lack of quality. The Romain for the Cesar was not fresh and clearly was prepped the day before, The Duck Confit was dry and the Smash Burger was overloaded with a "new American" cheese that seemed a cross between Velveta and Gouda. The service was very good and the management was attentive to our Duck issue and comped our meal which we greatly appreciated. If you are going to est at Red's I suggest their sides, the sorbet. and the fried kale is to die for! read more

I decided to go to reds after friends told me how amazing the duck confit is and omg it did NOT disappoint. Every piece of this dish is a masterpiece. The apples, pickled cabbage, fried kale, candied bacon, mango raspberry sauce & the duck all together is an explosion for your tastebuds. 10/10 read more

We had a reservation for 7p, and the service, ambiance, menu all seemed divine.... We're sat by the sweetest ever and a few moments later our server comes to get our order for drinks- my stepdad orders lager, I can't have a martini (no liquor license) so I order a lemonade...she turns to the other 2 guests says 'oh you need more time' and abruptly leaves. Ummm okay...? She comes back later, a comical amount of time, to take the drink order from my mom and my 90yo grandma.... Like why tf did you make my 90yo abuelita wait 10 mf minutes when she needs to be treated like a princess!?! I digress...so we get our $5 sparkling lemonade after waiting 10 mins, which is fine, we're excited for the experience and it's gourmet.....but this seemed like someone made it as if they're doing fresh squeezed OJ. It was so tart we had to add a bunch of water in order to stomach it bc I'm not one to complain but that shit was $5 ya know. That's okay, I'm a good sport. We're all excited about oysters. We know the entrees we want and then... She doesn't know anything about the menu, or the restaurant, and when we want to order oysters she doesn't know about that either. She does her best but finishes with 'yeah idk, it just tastes like you're eating the sea to me' ok girl.....this is around 7:15p.... It's after 8p, we haven't seen our server and haven't gotten any of our food. We've been brought bread. My stepdad's beer he ordered after we sat down for our 7p reservation has been dry af for the last 30 mins. I wave our waitress over who seems to be suddenly racing toward us. 'Yeah your food is coming. It's almost here' I'll admit this was when I hit the switch. Bc girly pop, why would you have attitude with me? Service so bad it felt like game-show cameras were going to pop out and I'm mf hungry, been waiting over an hour when we had a reservation and no, the restaurant was not busy in the slightest. My smile dropped and my soul departed. No niceties, no understanding. 'Where are our oysters?' She says 'oh my bad, that was my fault' ummm babe all of this shitass experience is your fault. 'Do you still want them?' 'Yes' But now? You want them now?' 'Yes please' 'Ok but that's with dinner, you want them' 'Put the order in right now and then bring them to us as soon as you have them whether that's before, during or after.' I've offended her, whatever. Food comes, I'm happy. I'm simply a low blood sugar girly, do not interfere or fuck with me until I get my food please. Especially if it's your fault. She then comes back, bringing her big stinking attitude, every 5 mins?? She asks how things are but then literally runs off before we can say 'we'd like the check' 'we'd like a to go box' Now if I were reading this, I'd be wondering if she was running around attending to other tables etc...she was enjoying a glass of wine, chatting with the owner, while we waited an hour for our food. My mom grew up here, I spent my summers here, and it's important to us to support local businesses. But this place fucking sucks. I really hope they get it together here, there's one server (Steven?) who is amazing, but wow this place will go out of business with all that. The food isn't nearly good enough to carry that kind of experience. In fact you need exceptional service to bring that menu to life...otherwise that chicken is dry. We came here from out of town hoping to enjoy a nice meal before a show at the thunder valley venue. We had reservations for 5:45. The restaurant opened at 5pm. Our server was sweet. She sat us and told us of the days specials. I ordered the filet which was a special. I ordered it medium rare. We waited 50 mins or so for our meal. Our server kept coming by and telling us soon. Totally fine. But when our food arrived my filet was so dry and cooked to death it was grey!! I called our server over and she was appalled by the look of the meat even! She took it away at once. She said they were unable to make another bc it was the last one?? They open at 5 and our reservation was for 5:45 and they're already out of the filet????? It got worse bc the kitchen was so far backed up and they couldn't get another plate of food out quickly other than a salad.. I did not have another hour to wait on my food again... They did take the filet off the bill but no manager came by to say anything? Our server did apologize but it was a pretty terrible experience. Still paid over $100 for bread, one glass of wine, one beer, one side of Mac and cheese for my son and my husband got the halibut. (Which I tasted and thought was really good.) Sadly this was supposed to be my birthday dinner.. I didn't get any dinner tonight.. I already had a salad for lunch and was not really feeling another one.. I'd think an upscale restaurant would have better time management of their kitchen. And have the necessary ingredients readied for a Saturday night. Especially 45 minutes after they opened? Minuses: with a reservation, we were seated closest to the bathrooms. Not a horrible table, but definitely lacking. They add 3% onto your bill for credit card purchases. Last night was the first night I've been to Reds Bistro. Quaint and comfortable bistro for sure. Parking can be a challenge however. I ordered the filet mignon. Although it was good, I was a tad bit disappointed. I ordered my filet butterflied well-done it came butterflied, but still very red inside. No one followed up on how my steak was. Sigh. We enjoyed a charcuterie board. However, it would've been nice to have each item, or at least the cheeses and meats, identified. The food here is PHENOMENAL, and the service is just as good. We've been here twice now and we've seen both sides of Red's. We've been in on an early Thursday evening where service was so fast, so efficient and the food was so good. We also went this last night on a busy Saturday when it was absolutely packed out. They were running out of food left and right and had a few delays, and they handled it with such professionalism and just stayed a well-oiled machine. Your high end restaurants are only as good as their worst scenarios and situations. Obviously you never prepare to run out of your special, and certain sides, deal with slow turnaround, and several parties who were less than kind to the wait staff about it. But I saw the owner running table to table talking with folks, our waitress was a rockstar and was doing her best, and despite all that they were facing the food was still a perfect 10. Our party ordered a couple of the filet mignons, the duck, pork chop, salads, sourdough appetizer, the salmon crostini appetizer and everything was 10/10. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's an upscale fine dining experience, with a great ambience in an awesome old town spot. It's a can't miss restaurant! read more

We had heard there was a new chef at Red's Bistro and decided to dine there on New Year's Eve. While the restaurant is well appointed and the service was good, the food - and the portions - were below par. Two of us ordered the scallops. What we received was a plate containing three scallops on a bed of risotto that was so thick it was akin to Mac N Cheese. $43.00. I suppose the logic in the kitchen was to provide enough heft on the plate with the risotto to fill the belly of the unlucky sod who ordered the skimpy dish. One other small detail: the server took my empty wine glass, but did not ask if I wanted another. Was I being cut off after one glass? We were out celebrating my dear friend's birthday and last minute decided to go to Red's. From the minute we walked in until we left it was a great experience. Upon arrival we were met by the lovely Steven who asked if we had reservations. Since it was a last minute decision, we did not, but a table just happened to open up right as we got there. The interior is cute, quaint and comfortable. The cocktails were delicious! We split the two specials of the day - pecan crusted halibut and filet mignon between the three of us which was perfect!! The presentation was lovely! We also had their yummy sourdough bread which I highly recommend. Our server Steven just made the experience even better. He was personable and fun! Sadly we couldn't find room for dessert, but Steven was so thoughtful and brought out a small dessert with a candle for my friend. That was really the icing on the cake. The restaurant was not too busy and we were greeted warmly, choosing to dine at the bar so that we could watch the food prep - always entertaining! The service was attentive without interrupting us and we were quickly served our water and drinks. We ordered salad to share and two entrees which were all prepared very well and tasted great. Good job! It was also fun to view the appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts being finished at the pass and taken out to the diners. I'm so mad that I've known about this place and have continued to drive by it for years. Until last night. Made resys ( but prob didn't need em) and bought my folks on a Thursday night. We were immediately welcomed by such amazing ambience and decor. There were 2 separate wine bar areas to sit at , a large dining area and all the booths and chairs are velvet. It has a fantastic old-school speakeasy feel. Brilliant details like the light-up bathroom mirror , light gold metal bars chairs and dark tile-under-the-bar was gorgeous. The service was awesome. We had Jayne, who was friendly, knowledgeable and sassy. The food was amazing. We started with the shroom truffle crostini. My folks aren't usually truffle fans but they were wiping up the leftovers with their fingers. I had chicken added to the warm kale salad and I'm kicking myself for not asking what the flavors were that were making my mouth so happy. The rest of my people got the burgers and wouldn't shut up about how great they were. Perfectly medium rare cooked also, as we are all high-maintenance burger connoisseurs. We opted for a local "Small Ass" cab-merlot that was good but the rest of the wine list was quite lovely, albeit a tad spendy. But we never see a Pride wine on any list, so that made us extra happy. From the dimly-lit ( but not too dim) room to the holiday touches to the music, this place was delightful. I'll have to get over not going sooner, but now that I've been, you bet I'll be back. Upon arriving at Reds' I was a little confused about the interior decor - it was a little farm house a little modern and then had a beautiful antique bar. I couldn't really understand the vibe. However, we asked to be sat outside in their patio area and it was adorable! With twinkling lights strung and Vulfpeck playing softly in the background the environment was perfect for date night, girls night out, or even a casual dinner. Ordering from their fall menu, We started with half a dozen oysters. The oysters were fresh and shucked perfectly. Priced at $21/half dozen the price point was not too bad and the quality was good. We then shared their field green salad. The salad portion is huge and is definitely enough for two people. While the salad only has three ingredients and may appear plain, the generous portion of manchego on top make it easily one of my favorite salads I've ever had. I enjoyed it so much that I bought some manchego on the way home to make it myself (but mine somehow doesn't taste as good). For entrees we split the grilled red snapper and the little neck clams and bone marrow. I started with the clams and bone marrow. The sauce on the clams was brilliant. The bone marrow was melting in my mouth and the perfectly toasted crostini paired amazingly. I actually enjoyed my clams dish so much that I didn't want to switch with My boyfriend. If I could find out how that broth was made I'd probably eat it every day. The grilled red snapper was flavorful and moist. I particularly enjoyed the arancini that it was served with. The lobster puree was the perfect dipping sauce. For dessert, we shared the pineapple upside down cake and the s'mores crème brûlée. I was skeptical of the crème brûlée because I've only ever had the traditional version and the idea of s'mores didn't appeal to me so much. However, the combination of the chocolate flavored tart and the marshmallow was ingenious. The crispy caramelized top was as always, my favorite. The pineapple upside down cake was warmed and served with a cool side of homemade cream. I was so happy that the cake didn't have a maraschino cherry on it - it felt much more elegant. The fresh cream paired perfectly. Other than the delicious meal, the service was superb. Our server Corinne made great recommendations throughout the meal, made sure our waters were always filled, and had the biggest smile on her face. I saw another server that kept taking off her mask, Corinne didn't and I appreciated that. Our check was presented to us with two small espresso macarons from a local bakery - the finishing touch on a great meal. To add to everything, our bill for two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts, two glasses of wine, and coffee was only about $125. For the quality of the food and the service that was truly a steal. I had to borrow my companion's spoon because I could not get his attention to ask for another. And, had to flag him down to get the check.
