I love the atmosphere and the taphouse vibe. A little escape from the carbon copy corporate restaurants is always nice. Reminds me of Tahoe type spots. Very spacious and has a couple of patios. The bartenders are personable fun and seem to enjoy their time. That's always nice to see, especially being a first timer I just tried the food. No beer. Salad was good. I been here twice and had a drink looked at the menu. I really wanted to like this place, but I can't get myself to order anything from the menu and nothing looked good . I wish they had better selections for food options . Since it's more of a sports bar vibe I would think the selections for beers would be better also. The inside looks older with wood everywhere . They have TVs and a nice outside seating . The staff was not that welcoming I was not sure what to order I wanted a menu . When I went up to ask "do you have a menu" ? he said we have a lot of menus I was like okay thanks lol ? I grabbed myself a menu that he pointed at . I had to go back to look at the beer menu on the wall . I ended up getting a glass of wine he was kinda short and that was it I sat down and looked over the menu. Nothing looked good after a while. Good food discovered! Found this place as we were visiting for swim champions. The person working the bar and taking food orders was great. He made the experience visiting welcoming and chatted with me over the good being so good. The meatball sandwich was not drowned in sauce and the meat so tasted. Love it. Was told they cook and smoke their own meats. It shows! First time having Cowboy Caviar, heehee, and so glad we did. This seating inside and out is roomy. Plenty of parking in the lot. Absolutely the worst food I have ever had in a taphouse in my life. They obviously have no kitchen. I complained about the meatball sandwich I had and one of the workers just said they would tell someone in the back. Meatballs were sour sauce was preto or ragu cheese was greasy and tasteless. Someone told us about this place and how they had really good beers, so we took a chance and walked on over. It was super laid back. Chill vibes, kiddos could be there, the train passed here and there, lots of choices no matter what type of beer you got and regulars that seemed pretty comfortable with their local pub and friends. We had some drinks, listened to some music that was being played by a guy and his brother and chilled for an afternoon. Nothing bad to say about this place, a nice hang out. read more

The location has easy parking, pretty close to the main interstate, and the staff are always super friendly and chatty. The food is hit or miss on it's portioning but it's all tasty, and they tend to switch it up here and there with what they offer which is fun. Great place for one person or many - lots of room, clean and tons of variety on tap for any palette to enjoy! Gander is a great space, with good food, and an excellent beer selection in the town of Loomis. I was visiting a high school friend home for winter break over this past weekend and we decided to come check out this brand new space inside the charming and historic Blue Goose Event Center (Fruit Sheds) on Taylor Road. Gander Tap House is located on the far left of the sheds, directly across from the A frame yoga building. Upon arrival we weren't sure if it was a seat yourself type place or not so we walked up to the register, where a friendly woman acknowledged us and confirmed that we should order first before choosing a seat either at a booth, table, or the bar. We ordered $10 sammies and beers, and chose a booth since so many were empty. Service was faster than expected, but then again the place was only half full. I enjoyed my cheese panini with five different types of cheese, but my pal and I both thought the sandwich with Italian meats wasn't anything to write home about. It kind of fell apart while she was eating it. The food menu isn't anything super exciting, with mainly sammies, salads, and typical appetizers you would expect at a bar, but I did enjoy my food. Their beer menu is much more appealing. I would come back, perhaps to take a gander (*groan*) when in the area next to grab a beer, mainly because this is the only game in town as far as the type of venue goes. I'm also a sucker for the BG because it's a lovely space with a vibrant history. Hanging potted plants and wooden stairs are charming fixtures in my opinion. Parking is iffy, but there is that bonus lot attached to the BG complex, and if that fills up one could mosey across Webb Street to the general parking lot attached to the Train Depot. read more

They both know their products so well that they always have suggestions! Let me tell you they are NEVER wrong. God bless these girls and the kitchen staff that supports them. Came on a busy Sunday with a group of friends. Dining room was dark and dank on a beautiful, sunny day- total bummer to be inside. If I wasn't with a group of friends, I would have taken the food to go. Food took a long time to come out and was pretty awful and overpriced- the beans in the cowboy caviar were straight-up crunchy. Two parties ordered it and neither took more than a couple bites. My SO's poke bowl was inedible- the rice was so saturated in soy sauce, it had to have been a mishap in the kitchen. If I had ordered it, I would have sent it back. I will say the grilled cheese I got was very tasty, although small. read more

Tried this venue while in downtown Loomis. We were originally going to another brewery just down the street, but it was so packed we had to look elsewhere. A quick perusal on Yelp led us to this location, and we were so glad we did. Spacious open community tables and generous seating. Although they don't serve their own proprietary beer, they had an awesome variety, including the beer from the other place that we couldn't get into! Score! They also have some great food. I tried the Mufaletta sandwich and it was wonderful and came with a generous serving of chips. Nice flavor and presentation. Staff were wonderful and the atmosphere was really nice. Just visited for the first time since COVID began and was disappointed the servers (and ALL of the many customers) weren't wearing masks--indoors and outside. Didn't really see any precautions being taken at all (dirty tables weren't sanitized, for example). We wear masks to protect others. Some people choose not to take this precaution. Such is this case with this establishment. Take this into consideration when deciding to visit. It may work for you. We won't be able to go back. Bummer. read more

I am so glad this spot is open during all the COVID shutdowns. The tap house, from the outside doesn't look open but it absolutely is. They have a solid variety of American food favorites as well as a solid selection of beers and other cocktails. Harder to find seats during their peak hours but everyone is super friendly so it isn't too hard to find good seating. Would absolutely recommend stopping by here for a night out.
